I think Moses is tactically the more conservative of our two wing backs, and he doesn't get anywhere as far upfront as Alonso - so I don't think he has done badly at all, infact like I said earlier, I think he has been brilliant this season. This is his first season as a wingback, in a new system, and in a title challenge and thus far he's given a very good account of himself, and I'm sure he will further improve as time goes on.

I've really enjoyed Pedro's game this season but sadly, I must agree with you on that count.

Cahill is still useful for the bench, and I keep wondering why we can't convert Matic to that left sided centreback - he has the physique for it, and while his passing range is limited in midfield, I think it is very good for a CB.

Either way, I agree that all those names need to be upgraded except for Moses.
Matic is a little too slow and clumsy to play that role I believe. He also does not have recovery pace required to be effective in the role.

I agree with your assessment of Moses in his tactical role. I really appreciate his contribution so far this season. I actually think he's had a fabulous season. However, I am already thinking beyond the Bournemouths of this world. I am looking at what Moses can do against REal Madrid.

I can only think of prime Alves
I will take a punt on Joao Cancelo.

It will be unfair to Moses if he loses his place next season. He has been brilliant. The only thing I'm not sure of is if he can excel in a back 4.
If we make the mistake of not moving forward next season, we run the risk of stagnating. The positions of Moses, Pedro, Cahill and Matic need to find serious upgrades.

I don't think it will be unfair to Moses. Just like Willian (who works just as hard), Moses is far too unproductive for a player who gets into very interesting positions.

He actually did well except for those wrong decision nd few misplaced passes but its understandable.
And this is exactly my point. It's understandable because
1. he plays for Everton where he receives a low number of passes, yet he misplaces them
2. There is no pressure to perform.

At Chelsea, in a Conte 3-4-3, he probably receives on average 80 passes per game and in tight spaces. How would he fare?

Most of the Lukaku fans don't judge Lukaku based on the likes of today's game. They wait until he scores. I repeat again, this a potential colossal waste of some £65m. Abi wetin dem dey quote.

If we have £65m to spend, why don't we go after Mbappe? Sell Batman and promote Tammy.

I don't think Aguero is deteriorating. He is simply not a striker to run around and press. I don't have the exact numbers, but I'm sure the man has missed something like 1 month each season with soft tissue injuries - the type that Sturridge also suffers from - over the last 3 seasons.

Simply put, Aguero is not a man built for agidi football. I've also heard that he's constantly playing through the pain barrier.

However, in front of goal Aguero is still a lethal assassin. I think he has 10 in his last 12 or something like that. I mean the man has 26 goals this season already, and I think he's missed 6 or more games through suspension and injury.

If Dayo wants to pick an exact date he feels Aguero started his so called decline, we can examine his shot accuracy and shot conversion rates relative to other EPL strikers and I am 100% certain that the numbers will not support such a wack assertion.
Well, did Dayo say Aguero is no longer lethal in front of goal? I am not sure this is Dayo's point.

Pfft. Aguero is missing chances just like everyother striker, you and Ram-daughter have simply got your attention on those misses than his overall contribution.

Mind you, the man you're helping fan the embers of his logic doesn't have a mind of his own.

He's gone from Aguero can't run around the pitch. so he's useless, to Aguero misses alot lately, so he's useless, all within weeks. Decamp now that you have the time.
Did he really say this or did he say he is deteriorating and may not be the perfect fit for Pep's system?

I think you will find (if there's no hidden agenda of course), that those are two different things. I have been a long-term admirer of Aguero but Dayo might be right on this one.

Did I blame Matic?
I said Fabregas will score or assist in every game he starts? That's what I promised

I thought Matic is the human version of Troy's shield, where was he when we conceded 2 goals

If you don't want to accept the fact that sometimes, no what who you play, defeat happens.. ....Then I can get ridiculous and also blame this on Matic

As far the game is concerned, Fabregas scored, Created an empty net for Costa and drew a top save from Hennessy
Matic was the one suppose to stop us from conceding 2 goals in 2 minutes and he failed

No one is to blame really, shit happens.. ...But if you want a scapegoat, Fabregas is unavailable
This is you creating a problem where there isn't one. No one blamed anyone for anything. I only stated that Matic played well. You, in turn, assumed this means Fab did not play well. I wonder where that came from.

I started by stating that playing Fabregas guarantees nothing (which you are now getting around to admitting) and that this loss will not be blamed on the fact that he didn't play at least. Evidently. Matic, on the other hand, has been a part of the winning team thus far. This has been stated repeatedly.

So the promise of Fabregas' feature is to 'ONLY' score or assist if he plays. Well, what's been the point of the argument season long then? Have we not been assisting and/or scoring fine without him? Top of the league? Winning streak? Unbeaten Run? What have y'all been arguing about then? The fun of seeing him score or assist?

Going by the way the narrative has been presented leading up to yesterday, I was led to believe that we would have won the league by now, had he played. When wise heads were warning on the contrary, that playing Fabregas liquifies our tactical solidity and ability to defend. When was the last time we conceded 2 goals in a game this season?

When we don't play Fabregas, we stay compact. We don't get his assists but we've never failed to score in all but one single game season long. The stats show that we would have score eventually without Fab and someone would have assisted it. What will not happen though is conceding two goals. Stats also show this. Worst case scenario, we give away one goal. And walk away with a point.

This is the wise approach and the sensible POV. Calling for Fabregas is needless at the business end of the season. When we should be talking about consolidating and wrapping up the league.

And Fabregas had a bad game??

Don't even try to drag Fabregas into this please.. .We will destroy Matic now
Drag Fabregas into what? As if Fabregas is not already in it. You and ilk bore us every week about how Fabregas is going to turn us into Giant killers. And every week you miss the point. It doesn't phucking matter what kind of game Fabregas had. He played and we lost. And it's almost comical considering what has been promised.

Somehow, y'all still claiming the loss is attributed to Matic playing. How? Isn't Fabregas supposed to supply all the assists required to outscore the opposition? Abi there's a new narrative?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by nateevs(m): 11:39am On Apr 02, 2017
At least no one will say it's because Fabregas did not play. I believe this is what we were trying to make these folks understand. Fabregas playing guarantees fuckall. 3 needless points dropped before the City game. We could easily be 4 points by the end of the City game and we become nervous. All because of experimenting.

I see some folks are already trying to generate faults from thin air to support a narrative. I watched the game and I think Matic had a good game.

I am not ignoring any point, what Fabregas can't do defensively, he makes up for it offensively which has also helped the team whenever we are struggling, shey we still have the Kante who can always win back the balls and hack down opposition players.

When Matic is not defending, what does he offer to the team?
IF Matic is the better player defensively, Fabregas is 1000000000 times better and ahead of him offensively, both of them have Kante who can do their job effortlessly.

Are you getting the point??
No, I am not getting the point. Tell us how Fabregas can make up for defensive frailties with figures. Not by plucking opinion out of thin air.
What is the purpose of the risk? We are top of the table. Probably on our way to winning the title. Matic has been a massive part of that, not Fabregas.

We have conceded only 21 goals all season. Only one more than Spurs who are the best on 20. And we've scored 59 goals - only one less than Liverpool on 60. We are 69 points with 10 games to go; and with this momentum, we are on course to matching our own 95-point EPL record.

But you want more.

What the Bleep is this?
Fabregas was asked to do what Matic did?why should Fabregas be asked to do what Matic does, whatever that is.. ..Ronaldo should be asked to do whatever Matic does and let's see
Fabregas should bring his own play into our game ,why not ask Matic to do what Fabregas does and let's see

Don't even try to bring Barca into this. .Fabregas didn't play in the midfield often because of Xavi and Iniesta, every time any of them was absent Fabregas steps into the midfield effortlessly
You are reading too much into what you think, the same Barca you claim didn't use Fabregas as midfielder is using Rakitic, Suarez and Gomes in the midfield so don't try to tell us Barca tried to keep Fabregas away from his goal, Xavi kept him away from that position

If Matic's job is just to be forming a robot on Low Battery in the midfield, I reckon Zouma can do a better job. .....
A DM that is not playing out of defence, winning tackles, driving ball forward, intercepting or passing, is that one a DM?

By the way Matic doesn't shield Nada, don't just show us instances where Fabregas was dispossessed under pressure, I can bring out Xavi's error if i dig deep.....You even had to go back to the UCL game in 300BC to prove a point...So Fabregas gets dispossessed under pressure 2-3 times are season and he can't shield #Wehdone sir

Give us clips showing Matic shielding the ball under pressure
I don't get involved in this argument cos I always take the middle ground. However, I think I should this time. The problem with your argument is that you are criticising Matic whilst deliberately ignoring the clear reason why Fabregas should not be selected.

You cannot claim Fab is not there to do what Matic does, when Fab has been left out of the team more times than Matic has. This is not a 3-5-2. It's a 3-4-3. This means that whilst solidity is built on the wings and at the back, there are only two players left in the middle and that middle has to be tight.

Therefore, to claim that Fab is not selected to form a tight "two" in the 3-4-3 midfield is being dishonest. And this is exactly why Matic has always been selected as the preferred player to form the tight "two". Matic does not need to be fantastic to be tight. In fact, the way Matic plays sets him up for this role. And Fabregas cannot touch this, even in his greatest form. And yes, this fact is evidenced by our position on the table.

We could create another topic to discuss Fabregas's potential output in attacking play. Let's not claim however, that because of this output, there are no defensive consequences. Especially in a 3-4-3. This is exactly where Ibime uses the phrase "Intellectual dishonesty"
