Kante/Nainggolan pivot.........Oga Pass through make i dey see Don't be like Jose. However poorly the team has performed this season, we should not take our eyes off the big picture. Courtois is still a top goalie with potential to be one of the best. |

Ibime: With nothing to play for, we have a great chance to play some kids till season end.
Kenedy has been learning the left-back role really well. Give him the shirt till season end. If he proves himself consistent, between him and Ake we may not need to buy a new leftback in the summer.
Traore should continue getting a run with Costas suspension. Also play him on the wing when Costa returns.
It is also a great opportunity to see if RLC is cutout for professional football. Why not give him midfield shirt till season end? If he continues to be lazy, then we know not to bank on him next season.
Also lets see what Matt Miazga is all about in a few games here and there. 100% nailed-on argument. There's absolutely nothing to play for. Kennedy has taken giant strides from the first time I saw him. Although, still very soon, I can already see he has what it takes to be a PL footballer. I agree with the sentiments of RLC. I would have loved Lewis Baker to be around now. Diego is likely to get banned. That gives Traore an immediate chance to prove himself. By the way, I came across an interest fact in the Daily Mail this morning:- Chelsea's last 11 signings have been Asmir Begovic, Baba Rahman, Pedro, Papy Djilobodji, Michael Hector, Marco Amelia, Matt Miazga, Kenedy, Radamel Falcao, Alexandre Pato and Danilo Pantic.Jeez! Put like that, you can only but be scared. |

I am with Ibime on this one and even with the goal in question and everyone knows I am not a Mikel hater. I am just being objective on this one.
Watch how Mikel slowly recovers from marking Verratti. The problem was that he didn't spot the danger and realise that Di Maria, at the very least, had free 10 yards to run at the back four. With a little more verve, defensive tactical awareness, decisiveness and pace (which is the koko here) Mikel, truly could have zeroed out the space in front of Di Maria, despite being in front of Verratti only moments ago.
This is not to say other players do not share in the blame but you can see how that move develops and how Mikel could easily have made the choice difficult for DM.
The problem here is that, I have seen that slow recovery happen 100s of times before and consequently, it is not wrong to criticise Mikel in this instance, again. |

bigkesh: Waiting for nateevs to defend Hazard for swapping shirt with Di maria and tel us he was just trying to swap form This is just a silly and childish attempt at making a point. You think I defend every stupid thing footballers do? Mate I have a life. And if you want to hear it from me, it is the most disgusting thing a footballer can ever do - half-time shirt-swaps. Especially considering the huge importance of the game. And Hazard was very wrong to be seen being a part of that. What in the world makes you think in the first instance, that I will defend that? That's just downright insulting. |

Nihilist: As in!
We've overrun them in midfield and if Hazard was a bit sharper in thought and released the ball quicker....who knows what could have happened
I'm loving this though...1 more goal and we go to extra time.
Come on You Blues!!!! With the way we have been interrupting their play and countering with lightening speed, we can get 2 goals. We just need Hazard and Kennedy to get their final passes right. |

sinizia: From what I can infer from these arguments especially from the Shekpe fans - they are peeved that Hazard was hounded, castigated and derided based on STATS by anti-Shekpes, but now the limelight is on Iniesta, there's need for the so-called benchmark called STATS to be discarded. It's hypocrisy.
To be frank, Shekpe fans are right to be pained by insults heaped on Hazard coz of stats but Iniesta is praised without it. Like many have posited including several links, stats don't tell the full story. If stats tell the full story Xavi and Zidane might end up being mediocre. Iniesta embodies what Barca midfield is all about. Like a link brought by Nihilist said, Fab4 was more direct, looking to assist from any position soon as he spotted a move thereby costing Barca possessions which they cherish so much. It ended up getting Fab sold. Iniesta and Barca midfield are all about passing the ball, holding on to the ball and wearing their opponent out. It's this reason that made Busiquet more suited as a DM for Barca than Yaya. Busiquet is tidy with passing/possession and less aggression which the average DM is known for. Lampard and Iniesta has differing qualities. Iniesta can dribble excellently, hold on to the ball, pass it around and hardly loses the ball. Lampard on other hand is more direct, making forward runs into opposition 18-yard boxes, making direct through passes to the CF and being in the opposition's 18-yard to score with a header or kick. Lampard wouldn't be THAT great in a Barca midfield, he can't pass, dribble and hold on the ball like Iniesta does. Same way Iniesta wouldn't have scored or assisted as much as Lampard did for Shekpe. Instead of arguing, we'd both appreciate the weaknesses and strengths of both legends. The are both different ninjas.
Like I opined, stats don't tell the full story that's why you'll never see me insult Hazard of last season. I remember when I started frequenting this section newly, I had an argument with Homestéady about who was the best shekpe player last season. He was telling me it's Fab or Costa. Telling me about their stats and how you guys have discussed it extensively. I simply told him that nobody on earth can convince that Fab played better than Hazard of last season. What Hazard brought to Shekpe last season, Fab can't match it. There's a reason that with ALL THE STATS of Fab and Costa, Hazard was the most feared Shekpe player of last season and the one opponents looked to nullify his potency. There's a reason Zidane chose Hazard as his best player of last season after Messi and CR7. There's a reason pundits and coaches was comparing him to CR7 and Messi. An average player can't get that much hype. Hazard, stats or no stats was head and shoulder above the rest of EPL.
Only an IDIØT can discredit Hazard of last season coz of some nonsense stats. Same way only a HATER can make a heretical statement like Iniesta is vision-less and unproductive. If there's any justice in the world, such a hater would be lynched for being irredeemably dumb!! Your head dey there eternally. . . Common sense on steroids. |

Bro I no get time to argue if the goal-post of concern is being shifted at will. Are we talking playing youth or what? If you want to discuss my celebration of an inconsequential Hazard penalty, pade mi ni bus-stop. For here and now, we are talking about giving credit to blocking a loan move. Who fucking does that? You no see wetin Musonda dey do for Betis? No be under Mr Jose dis guy bin dey play for 3 seasons? How can you be berating a fella for celebrating Hazard yet giving credit (at the same time) to someone who has a poor record of promoting youth football, all because he blocked a loan move? Double standards. . No? Get off my nuts FBS. . |

FBS: This is why you and I will most likely never agree though not that it matters. Your inability to give credit where and when due is messed up....yet you wanted us to give Hazard e-hugs for scoring a bleeping penalty? Jose blocking his move showed intention to use Traore which is commendable. I take it that you don't like Jose at all but who cares? Heck, name 1 single academy graduate who has played consistently for CFC under ANY manager in the last 10 years in any important match? And please don't mention Ryan who now plays for Sotton. Hehe. Now we are giving credit for blocking loan moves. So I should join in. Sorry oga, this is how I see it, even though it hurts. What credit is due a man who would rather play a dead Falcao instead? . . . even though he "blocked the move" He blocked the move. . So fucking what? |
