The only way Fab4 will hand in a transfer request at £40m will be to go to Barca, not Chelski. Even with Nando's transfer request, Liverpool still insisted on Chelski meeting their valuation before any deal was done.
I am going to assume you meant to word this differently because it currently sounds like the "amount of money" will determine "IF" Fab hands in a transfer to Barca and that Fab will never go to Chelsea. If so, I will say Bros leave that thing. You all will call it the most shocking thing ever in an Arsenal shirt. You never know what goes on in a player's mind. I read some what 200 pages of the Torres transfer saga on RAWK. 99% of Liverpool fans said Torres is a red through and through and will never join Chelsea. Some said they will burn their season ticket if he does, calling the story of his transfer request fake and Guillem Ballague all sorts of name after he (Guillem) broke the story.

If Chelsea offer Fab £200,000 a week, dude will be on the Picadilly line before you know it.

But I digress.

Now back to the issue.

It does not always walk like the way you say it. If Fab is in the 2nd to the last of a 4-year contract and Chelsea come calling, that throws all you are saying outta the window -assuming no one else wants him. If Fab does not sign a contract extension and hands in a transfer request, Arsenal will be stupid to not collect £30m on a platter of gold because he will walk away for nothing the next summer window. Even if they are financial strong and don't need to sell. So don't come with this valuation thing. It is not anything written in cast-iron letters somewhere and is subject to all forms of conditions.

@Akola,

Your date of birth is the single most important personal data you can have in the UK. It ties into everything do have and do. Once you adopt one at birth, it's tied to that name and only an entire change of "identity" can cause a date of birth to be modified.

If you don't pay £70m for him, you won't get it - it's that simple.

Cesc is younger than Torres, has more premiership experience, has handled more pressure and has a better range of abilities than Torres. He plays for a team that is set up for him and built around him.

If an offer of over £30m couldn't prise him away to his ancestral home, you think he'll be let go for JUST £40m to a direct premiership rival?

Na you dey smoke kpoli pass. grin
Read between the lines Dude. I am not talking about how much Arsenal want for him, I am talking about how much anyone will be willing to pay for him.
If Arsenal think can do well with the money, they will sell him for £40m. Not because they don't want more but because if no one else is willing to offer more and he (FAb) hands in a transfer request, you will sell - for £40m that is.

Stop all this premiership comparison shitzo. Torres went to Chelsea for £50m because Chelsea put in a bid 3 days before the end of the window not because Torres is valued at that. Pool knew Chelsea were desperate for a striker and they milked the desperation to the fullest. In a summer window, we would have walked away after the first £35m bid was rejected. Like we did when £25m for Lukaku was rejected and £38m for Aguero was rejected. Chelsea even turned their backs on the Luiz bid because Benfica wanted £1m more than our valuation.

That Torres went for £50m is no reason to say Fab will go for £70m. It's the summer and there will be many more players available to fit certain purposes which means we can turn our backs on it.

I will NEVER at anytime use Spurs in comparison.

1) Will benching DD bring a needed the needed magic to winning the champions league?

2) Forget about patriotism, do you think this present Chelsea team( with/without DD) will win this year's champions league?

3) Agreed that 2 goal in 10 matches is bad. Very bad. How many strikers in the world are in-form throughout ?

3) Carlo has used both wrong tactics and selection. Sometimes, i dont want him to start DD, in fact i was happy when he benched him in our match away to Spurs. He brought him in later in the game.

4) None of us is worshiping anyone. No one in this forum celebrate Toores arrival more than me. No one! Yet I am a DD person

When DD is in his ''right frame of mind'', no striker in the world has his characteristics.
1. Benching him may not bring the magic but benching will allow us to try other things like the obvious one "Playing and winning without DD" . . If we nenver try that, there's no plan B. DD will leave soon. Maybe in the summer maybe next. When do you want to begin cultivating the habit of playing without him?

2. I don't know if we will win it. But we can. With Torres and Luiz joining the team, Benayoun, Alex and Zhirkov to be back from injury in a few weeks, we have a formidable team. Carllotti just needs to have those balls to drop an out-of-form striker.

3. He came on later in the game and missed a penalty in the last minute.

4. I love what DD stands for - effective in front of goal. It however has to be clear to all and sundry that when this fades away, DD can't even be converted into another position - like many players have when they lose their youthful qualities - because his footwork is appalling. If you fail to see all this, then I can't but conclude that there is an unbelievable amount or worshipping going on.

Thanks for correction.

DD took Chelsea to champions league final and FA cup final during Guus Hiddink's reign.

@Nateeves

You want DD to play 30 minutes in a game? Was it because he has lost it? Was it because he cannot run anymore?
On what yardstick is that?
Because in any other steady CL team where the striker gets only 2 goals in some 10 matches, the striker will be warming the bench for 90mins.
Even Spurs wey never be steady CL team were bidding £38m fr Aguero and if he (Aguero) had landed, Defoe, Crouch, Pavly and a host of others will have to watch from the bench I am so sorry. CL football is crucial, especially to a team like Chelsea.

Most of you like to blame Carlo for wrong tactics. . . I blame him for wrong selection. I can count how many matches we could have won if only Drogba was not playing.

Like you guys say, "If Drogba is in form, we win". . . The operative word being "IF" . . . but you guys fail to answer the even more crucial question "What happens when he is not in form?" . . .Come back to earth people, this idol worshipping is too much.

I will easily pay £60m for Cesc on a normal day.

But if Torres is worth £50m, then I will pay £70m for Cesc in such a market.
We spent the whole winter discussing how Torres wasn't and still isn't worth £50m.
And you wan pay £70m for Cesc? Very soon top players won't be able to move clubs unless the buying club is owned by a billionaire.

The question I am asking is if Chelsea is not desperate over Cesc and City don't want him, who will pay £70m for him.
He can't even get into the Spanish National team. How much will those who take his place in that team be worth then? £100m?

Get some perspective guys. Because Roman was high on cheap weed does not mean we sef should pass the poli.

DD has been a major part of Chelsea's success over the years. There however comes a time when it ticks no more.
DD is a Chelsea legend and will always be. I had the same reluctance when Maka was leaving.
Chelsea will never be the same is what I said then. Yes Chelsea has not been the same since then but we've gone on to win 3 trophies after his departure. The team will evolve into a different one. Simple.

He's 33 next month and he has been shocking this season. 2 goals in 10 appearances in terrible for a striker. Let others come in while he finds form.
90mins is too many minutes for Drogba now. Let other step in. Torres can play as a lone striker for 60mins, Drogba for 30. Sturridge - though only after two games - may have walked into the Bolton side. he too is itchy to get mins. When a striker is not in form, you can persist and hope the goals come from somewhere else or you drop points. I will say the same about Torres.

Chelsea should focus on the Champions league this year cos the financial implications for the future are not looking good. You can't fire your coach since you have spent about 60 million pounds in the past 5 years on firing compensation. A massive clear out of the oldies is imminent in the summer to reduce the wage bill. In all I say good luck, austerity measures have come to the bridge.
£60m? Is you sure about that. . . Austerity measures have come and gone at the bridge. We were supposed to win the league with 19 players.
I don't mind keeping Drogba as long as he is not required to start every game. There's no need for a massive clear-out. One player out and 3 new faces in the summer - two wingers and one CM and we are fine. This season could have been way different for us if we had Zhirkov, Benayoun and Alex fit. They have a lot more creativity than what we have now.

Cech
Bran-Luiz-Terry-Cole
Hazard-Essien-Lampard
Sanchez-Torres-Adam Johnson

Subs: Delac, Hilario, Bosingwa, Alex, Van Aanholt, Zhirkov, McEachran, Ramires, Mikel, Benayoun, Kakuta, Sturridge, Kalou, Drogba, Malouda

Obviously one or two of them will leave and that is a good squad with a lowered average and yet a lot of experience within it.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Chelsea Fans Thread : Winners of the FA Cup And League Winners 09/10 by nateevs(m): 8:48pm On Feb 06, 2011
Carllotti needs to be bold and make tough decisions. Next game, I will line up like.

Cech
Bran-Luiz-Terry-Cole
Ramires-Mikel-Lamps
Anelka/Kalou-Torres-Malouda

Ramires has taken a lot of stick from the fans but boy does that guy work hard. He's all over the place making important tackles and closing down spaces. If we try to make Drogba and Torres work always, I'm afraid it could be a very long season.

Either old age has caught up with DD, or that virus he has is not malaria, but HIV.

He has no sharpness, you play him a pass he would have reached last season and the defender would get there first. He doesn't press any defenders from the front, and unfortunately, he has no skills or touch to fall back on as his physical power wanes.
He's 33 in March. I don't know of any other Striker in Europe at that age who still plays 90 mins every game. If we can't make tough decisions now, when would we? Malaria doesn't kill black men, 1 week and you are fine. 2 weeks and you are back to your very best especially when you are an athlete. Drogba's game is based on strength and sharpness and it reduces with age (needless to say).

Playing Malouda, Torres, Anelka on the forward would have been more lethal and more dynamic than Drogba in the middle. The earlier Carllotti has the balls to do that, the better.

Dude just strolls around now. Can run, can't pass, can't score. . . Drops down like a child at the slightest of touches, feigns injury even when a lot is at stake and even gets up and have a chat with oppo defenders.

The attitude is all wrong.

This is my post about Drogba on the Match thread.

nateevs:
I am just as hurt as you are. The problem Carllotti and many Chelsea fans fail to confront is the Drogba problem.
Drogba is the only player that has been consistently rubbish season-long. If there is any player that should no longer be starting, it's Drogba. And if there is one player that should not have started this game, it's surely him
Drogba's scored only 2 goals in his last 9 or so. . one was a penalty. No other team will allow this.

We are carrying  passenger leaving on past glory. There has to be a time when he can't continue to play every game.

This may sound insulting to some other fans but as far as I am concerned, we are not trying to fit Torres into the team, we are trying to make Drogba fit with Torres. . . and really that is even more difficult.

What a joke of a match, no width, No creativity,no depth,  Earlier on Essien was just passing balls to opponents. I am always very afraid when any of the team above us loses or falters and you think we might take advantage but most times not the case. We just bungled an opportunity,  fumbled and  crumbled to liverpool home and away. This particular one is a BIG win for them  and it hurts, arrghhhhh, it hurtsangry angry
