FBS: Kalou on for Malouda. The better change is Kalou on for Anelka . . Anelka has been shite to say the least. He doesn't provide the presence on the flank and neither does he in the box. |

Everton host Chelsea in the fourth round of the FA Cup. Last time both teams met in the FA Cup was in the final of 2009 where Chelsea won 2-1 to lift the FA Cup under manager Gus Hiddink.
David Moyes confirmed midweek to Talksport that they (Everton) have put up decent performances against big sides this season therefore it will be interesting to see what sort of game is upon us. The flip side is Everton have not been brilliant at home this season and with Chelsea seemingly over their "bad moment", it promises to be one hell of a clash.
It's Everton V Chelsea. Kick off 12.30 UK time. |

And we thot Ramires at £18m was a bad deal. I am not a big fan of Sturridge but I will never trade him in any deal. Matic + Cash for Luiz, now Sturridge + Cash for Torres. It seems we only use youngsters as bargaining tools. So much for expecting there's a turn of hearts.
We can never make good deals on the side of town. We are either panic-buying or buying rubbish. |

This is the part I don't get. Chelsea TV reported at 1pm this afternoon that the Luiz deal is still on - £25m . . and the news about a rejected bid for Torres broke yesterday night - £35 (reported). Now the two deals were going on simultaneously, which means the club was willing to spend up to £60m in this transfer window. Add £18m for Ramires, £6m for Benayoun and we are talking about £84m the club could have committed to transfers.
£84m and this is what we can come up with? |

We are bidding for Torres again? There's so much desperation. I hate this. We should have figured this out in the summer when we could instead of jumping now from place to place looking for a striker. |

ritchboy: Weren't you the one who was asking "why didn't they release Aguero since Chelsea surpassed his buy-out clause"? I'm flabbergasted!
I'm familiar with how release clauses work. . . Anyone who has played Football Manager is!
You seem to have more information than the rest of us. . . Why would Chelsea offer more than the required fee? Enlighten me!
Also, assuming this were true, does that mean Chelsea are currently discussing personal terms with Aguero or is it that Aguero is not interested in joining Chelsea?
A buy out clause cannot "scare off" suitors for the simple fact that the fee stated in the clause does not have to be met for the player to be transferred. Many players in Spain have ridiculous amounts(even higher than Aguero) as their release fee but still move for far less.
A release clause can only benefit the player, it cannot help the club in any reasonable way. Ok. |

ritchboy: If Chelsea really surpassed his buy out clause, surely Atleti HAVE TO "release" him, no?
Is it even possible to "surpass" a buy out clause?
Chelsea F.C. must be the mother of all magas if they actually "surpassed" a buy-out clause
This makes no sense. . . you may want to review what you typed. Oh Come on Witchboy! This is you just witch hunting. . . . again. 1. Yes Atletico should release him. Many times that's the way it is written into the contract . . . Release him in that he (Aguero) is free to speak to the buying club if he wants to. 2. Chelsea offered over the amount stipulated in his buy-out clause. 3. Atletico put a ridiculously expensive buy-out clause in his contract to scare off potential suitors, indirectly not wanting him to leave. That should be clear now. . . eh? |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Chelsea Fans Thread : Winners of the FA Cup And League Winners 09/10 by nateevs(m): 9:05am On Jan 27, 2011 |
@Ibime,
Are you serious Ibime? Hype up interest in Aguero? I doubt that there's any football scout on the planet that's oblivious to Aguero's ability and price tag. There are some players you don't hype. Madrid know Atletico sees it as a cardinal sin for them to sell Aguero across town. Like Spurs selling Van der Vaart to Arsenal. Madrid would have snapped him up. That could also be the reason they denied bidding for the boy. .
Second point - If Atletico are waiting for the first for the first maga, why didn't they release Aguero since Chelsea surpassed his buy-out clause? Have you thought that may be there's a buy-out clause because they don't ever want to sell him? |
