StarBoard:Arsenal fan or ManU? Which one you be? Let's begin the school boy thing well. |
slimshay:No you know Chelsea will not win the league this season. If we didn't make rash decisions of laying everyone off, today we would have had Ivanovic and Carvalho as CB and Mikel, Ballack and Deco in midfield. The result would have been absolutely different. Given that difference, how could you have thought we won't win the league? This is an argument of convenience and somewhat fraudulent. Tomorrow, Arsenal and ManU could go on a run of disastrous results and sink way low on the table. What would be ur argument then? |
slimshay:You probably started saying this 2 years ago. In that time, we've won 1 PL title, 1 community shield and 2 FA cups. History has shown you've been "telling" us bullshhhit. . . ![]() |
debosky:Give up? Seriously? I know what is happening. You are hoping for other things to happen. That's just the difference. We have Essien, Lampard, Terry, Alex, Benayoun all first team players out. Simple. Decline? . . . I remember the fairy tales of "decline" and "ageing" last season. We all know how it turned out. Chelsea start to have hiccups around this time. December is a flurry of mixed results and performances. January, February, we bounce back and stroll to the end while the pretenders blame it on not having a world class goal keeper. I have seen it all before. I can never worry about Arsenal, I am very concerned about ManU who can't lose at this moment in time. |
debosky:Dude let it slide. . . I have been typing for ever and can't proof-read thoroughly. I meant to use "vast" only . . the "well" shouldn't have been there. And about the league table. .How many times have you been this close and ended up with nothing? |
Can I ask why you are selling this for N1.6m? |
BTW that 3rd paragraph was an extremely weak attempt at dodging the simple question directed at you. . . it ain't working so try againI have answered the question many times tonight. You fail to read them. I don't questions about Chelsea mate. You've been on here long enough to know I am well vast at these issues. Visit my last two posts to view the answers to why the attack could not get a goal if you seriously desire an answer. If having 10 shot at goal throughout 90 mins at SB against Fulham is your idea of a "fantastic performance" then you must be high on Madea's bosom milkExactly what I mean. We have to have 20 shots on goal for you to note a fantastic performance. We have to walk over the opponent before YOU think we gave a performance. You claim we've been awful in the last 6 EPL games. It is now shocking though to know not having more than 10 shots on goal is your idea of having an awful performance. No credit to the opposing team for defending well. If however Kalou put 3 of those 5 chances away, we would have been talking 4-0. . What then would have called that same exact performance but just a difference in number of goals. Fantastic eh? This is a pathetic point of view to take. Fantastic performance at Anfield. . . .dude, upgrade your black and white TV to HD ASAPMate, I need to remind you of a game. Barcelona - Chelsea UCL semi final, Barca dominated the entire game. We defended like a pub team for the 90 and many of us went away thinking we were cheated after a "fantastic performance". . If I remember, we had no more than 4 shots on goal the entire game. ManU - Chelsea UCL final. . . 1 shot on goal throughout the first half of the game when Utd could have been 3 up. We all walked away thinking we could have won after a "terrific performance" . . Bottom line: Performance is relative. Walking over one opponent and totally dominating the game could be classified "fantastic performance". At the same time, defending at another game for 90 mins may also be classified "fantastic performance" . . Cancelling out the attack of another team and restricting them to a few shots on goal in one game may be "fantastic performance"; Also, limiting the full extent of your attacking prowess to limit the risk of recurring counter-attacks in another game may be "fantastic performance". However you see "fantastic performance" from one point of view only; we have to run over the opponent. For this reason, I can't help but feel the feel I do about you Dude. |
Ibime:Looking at the way we've played the kids so far this season, I can deduce it's the club's policy not to put the kids on the spot. My understanding is that if a kid is put on the spot and the result turns out disastrous like today's, it could affect the kid's confidence. Now one could argue that if a kid turns out woeful, you support him and field him again. True and this is the stand point I take. The converse view however, is that the is pressure on any Chelsea Manager to deliver every single game and seen from the reaction of fans tonight. How then can a manager pick a kid to go into a game, when there's a slight risk of a disaster and a consequent backlash from impatient fans? It's not going to happen any time soon. If Terry and Alex are not fit for the next game, it'll most likely be PF and Ivanovic again. |
FBS:Carllotti has to say something to the fans through the media so we don't think he is at ease with the turn of events. Funny thing is he may go back to the dressing room and say "Guys I don't need to tell you that was a bad result at home. I want a reaction next game" and then say no more. It wasn't the worst performance since he came. Didn't we not watch Chelsea away to Spurs last season? Now that was some lethargic performance because every one that could play was present. It was not the same today. The attack had little or no supplies, there's no creativity from midfield because a midfield of Mikel, Ramires and Zhirkov cannot be creative. Zhirkov is not a LM. He is at best a LW or LB . . so when he plays in LM, you cannot expect the same level of performance. . . Ramires is also not a RM. He is at best a DM or a stopper/spoiler. Like asking Fletcher to be creative. Such situations cannot produce results. We would have escaped with a 1-0 win if we had a good defence but unfortunately, it wasn't to be. This is the sort of performances we should expect from this midfield for some time. If the defence is ok, we'll have scrappy win. The opposing team will have to be really terrible for us to perform well. So my point is: It is nothing to do with mentality. Simple as. |
jalether:The last time we lost a game producing a fantastic performance. . 0-2 to Liverpool. . but I guess you will probably say that's not true because you are blinded by the fact that we lost. The Fulham game is one of the last 6 EPL games you are referring to and Kalou single-handedly could easily have scored a hat-trick for himself. Do you produce such chances for a hat-trick by luck? What is you on about. . ? If you cannot answer the question why we could not get a goal today, then there's no point having this discussion as you only prove what I said. You sit on the sidelines, in your comfort zone and simply say, they didn't perform. Why don't you tell us why you think they didn't perform, since you only enjoy the football when we are on top. . ? |
jalether:Abeg go siddon. Na for your mouth you dey call Sunderland inferior side. . You think the premiership is Chelsea's birthright? Could you call Sunderland inferior pre- Abramovic? The team lost because the defence was shit. The right side of defence was poor. PF is not a CB, slow and almost inert and Bosingwa is playing his first 90 mins is over 12 months. He is still not match fit. I was watching on Chelsea TV some weeks ago Carllotti talking about how he intends to slowly ease Bosingwa in. You know it was clearly not his intention to play him today and he is still not 90 mins fit. You expect them to forge miracles. They lost woefully and rightfully so. . but I never see you talk about the in-depth reasons of a loss . . . The only thing you yarn is "they didn't react, they lost disgracefully, they were this, they were that" . . The is a lazy man's attitude to football punditry. Anybody can say all this. . . |
FBS:Folks have a right to react all they want. . . except it has to be within the boundaries of common sense. The true fans dig deep and look for the core reasons we are not performing. The find and analyse these reasons. . Self inflicted or unavoidable? When they then come to a conclusion, they use the result as a yardstick for judging the outcome of other games. . So when we don't perform well, they don't go over board calling for the heads of all and sundry. That's the way it should be . . Not reacting for the sake of it. The Chelsea thread is the only thread that never has enough people to say "We lost . . So bloody what"? . . The next lines you see are . . This player is crap, that player is crap. The manager should be fired blah blah. It's a bloody game of football, and we deserve to lose many times. . . sometimes we will lose without the faintest of desires to win. . So damn what? We will bounce back and probably still win the title? So what's the fuss about? |
FBS:I go into every season expecting something like this. So when it happens, I am able to shrug it off. I don't expect all the players to be on form for 90 mins every single game. Embarrassing events like this will occur time and again. Dust it off and move. We have been spoilt by Mourinho. Many of us (me inclusive) now think it's our birth right to never lose at home. . . well that's it, it will happen. If you play CBs of PF and Ivanovic, every attack is going to look like a goal; made even worse by Bosingwa coming back from a year-long injury still not fit to play 90mins. Infact, that's his first 90 mins in 18 months. . If you have a midfield combination of Ramires, Zhirkov and Mikel, it means zero creativity. And if you have a Drogba who hasn't scored in 6 EPL games, you know you are in for it. When you take all that into consideration, you can't but come to the conclusion that any team with a little positive spirit will give us a good run for our money. We've just got to hope we can hang in there until we see the return of Lampard, Essien and Benayoun into midfield. Until then, we've got to expect to see haphazard levels of performances and really, it's no one's fault. |
jalether:What do you mean below par performances? You expect us to win every game? |
HNIC:Dude, yours is a perennial issue. . You can solve it if you choose to. Ours is an excuse because when both teams have their 11 or near that fit, you still won't come close. |
tunnytox:2005, we lost 3-0 to Middlesborough. . . we went on to win the title. |
FBS:Stop what? Saying what he said is crap? I hate losing at home. . I hate it. But what can you do? It is simply not our day. Just forget the game and move on. You have Lampard, Benayoun, Essien, Alex and Terry out. All these players will walk into the first team if they were fit. That's half the first team out. It's a bad day . . a very bad day . . Get on with it. |
bandely:Everything you said = Crap. You guys can never stand Chelsea losing. You call everyone names because of a loss. |
FBS:Really? It's just a loss. Calm down. Next time you'l be calling him the best since Pele. . |
Kakuta coming on. Nothing to lose. We either suffer a humiliation or the kids go on and be heroes. |
Josh coming on. |
Kalou? |
HNIC:It really does not matter you know? What will Arsenal do? |
Home defeat. We will be lucky to get away from this. |
My own second half has gone to Munich. |
I dey fear. Now we have to score 2 goals to stand a chance. |
HNIC:What do you mean miles away? |
Unbelievable. |
HNIC:Of course not. |
What was Drogba doing there? He never chooses the easy option. he almost cost us there. |
Cech = Class. |
Mikel is venturing. . I like this. Dude is really getting into the zone. |

, but your second string is non existent. Do you realise you only have 2 defenders out injured? Just 2.
