HOPE?? United fans don't HOPE. . . . They know the team is uber-solid.
The team was solid.

Scolari used  the diamond formation in the league last season and got spanked 3-0 at OT.
Drogba n Anelka played UPFRONT throughout the 2nd half together in that game and they did nowt.
Scolari didn't play the diamond my friend. .
Scolari play a 4-3-3. . The only similarity to this season is that the full backs attack.

And Drogba and Anelka played in a Hiddink-4-3-3, not a flat two upfront. . It's clearly different.

Now you really feel confident comparing the Chelsea of last season (Scolari's one) to this Carllotti's one. .
It's either you see things we all don't or you need to go to Specsavers. . Honestly.

I have warned you. . . . . .Beware of FLETCHERINO.

I do. . . . . . . .I am 100% confident United will GET a result tomorrow.
Honestly you don't! . . On the contrary, you hope.

Mark Atkinson is not a HOMER so Drogba's theatrics will be DEALT with. . . . . .
Evans and Vidic can pocket Drogba n Anelka. . . . . .It won't be their first time of stopping the Chelsea donkeys.
It's the first time they are playing Chelsea with two upfront. .
It's the first they are playing this Drogba.
It's the first time they are playing Chelsea with the diamond in the league.

The match would be WON in the midfield and if Fergie starts Carrick, Fletcher and Anderson then CHELSEA are doomed.
If not. . .

@Nateevs,

Arsenal stand a better chance of winning the EPl this season that Chelsea. You haven't been tested yet. if Ancelotti was so special, why didn't he win the calcio 3 times in a row. Chelsea's best position this year is second. If chelsea come out gung ho against United they will be made to pay. Chelsea couldn't beat United in the Community shield fielding all its stars against a half strenght United and you are talking about form. Form ko, paper ni.
I struggle to understand how you write so much nonsense in one single post. .

Arsenal stand a better chance. . . On what basis? . .
We haven't been tested yet. . . Liverpool ? . .
Oh! I know what's coming next . . . "Is Liverpool a test?". . . but they beat you and 2-0 for that matter.
And have you been tested yet?

So because Carlo didn't win anything 3 times in a row means he can't win anything with any other team?
Chelsea couldn't beat Utd in the first game of the season is your yardstick for knowing Chelsea's best position is second. .

Chelsea's best position is second . . on what basis ?

First of all I'll say a number of things - the big sides will likely lose more games this season than in any previous season. That is what the early results have shown us. More of the teams close to the top 4 - Man City, Tottenham and Villa have the ability to beat the top teams.

In that regard, losing 7 games can win the league this season, even with a number of draws. A lot of the results in my view point to a lower points tally winning the league compared with previous years.

I also agree that it is highly unlikely that you'll lose 7 games and simply not draw games - BUT if other teams are losing as well then it becomes irrelevant - you simply need to better their point hauls and not do anything more.

@ nateevs

It's easy to say you lost because you failed to beat Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal at the bridge, but isn't it equally feasible that you lost because you didn't win against other teams in the league - 5 points dropped against Tottenham, 4 points against Everton. Those results would've given you the 9 points wins against the other top 4 sides that you claim. In my view, it is more realistic to believe you would've beaten those teams home and away and look at those results.

Even with all said and done, you need to give it to Utd. Even with all the issues of last season - lack of goals, too many competitions and what not they still managed to win with one of the highest point totals in premiership history. In that regard, even if they lose to all the top 4 sides, they can still win the league.
While what you have said may be seen as possible from the point of view analysis. . . In practice it'll be seen as the worst season ever.
I can't bring my self to seeing the second on the table with 8 loses and the third with 9. . because that's what the picture of the table will look like if we have a winner with 7 losses. . . I for one don't think the gap between the top four and the upcoming has become that close honestly. .
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Chelsea Fans: Identify Yourselves Here by nateevs(op): 9:02pm On Nov 06, 2009
I have proven mathematically you can lose 7 games and win the league and yet you keep spewing balderdash about how performance is relative.
Chelsea have won 9 games losing 2 with NO DRAWS.
If the logic about relative performance holds, then a draw shoulda surfaced after playing 11 odd games, don't you think?
Mathematically or otherwise. . . It is impossible. .
The reason you can't using that logic with Chelsea is that it is totally different. .
You can't have a separate scenario with 7 losses and 31 wins. . If a team is bad enough to lose 7 games in a season then there will be a draw. . .
Check through history, stats and anything you want to bring ,  . . I haven't studied any stats but I can tell you that there is no table you will find that. . 7 losses and 0 draws.

Chelsea could go on from where we are at now and never lose a game. . . but if lose 7, we won't win the league. . Def!

We mustn't ignore Arsenal . . they are only a few points behind us and they don't have burdened shoulder hence they have nothing to lose - they just might spring a surprise on us.

If ManU or Chelsea lose 7 games. . . then Arsenal or ManCity will win the league.

Sometimes you get so excited you don't reason well. Why do you think Chelsea asked for a suspension of the ban. . ?
If we don't bring anyone in Jan, FIFA could find us guilty and ban us for 2 windows which would start from the summer . . It means we have effectively banned ourselves for 3 windows.

So if we know we can't bring anyone in until summer 2011 and we want to win trophies we have to bring someone in . . so you think we are bringing in Geovanni now. .  eh?
Or you think we got the ban overturned so create a PR stunt. . . ?

Keep hoping things don't go well you hear ? . . and keep thinking ManU can afford to lose 7. . .
Yo don't worry about us . . . we will be taking things slow and steady and May will be the judge . . .
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Chelsea Fans: Identify Yourselves Here by nateevs(op): 7:49pm On Nov 06, 2009
Chelsea have lost TWICE to bottom side teams. . . . .United lost ONCE.
So what are we talking about here?
That's not the whole story. . You said yourself that loses don't matter . . points do.
So I am going to use your analogy against you here.

Chelsea have played only one less than the number of small teams you have played . . and you are two points adrift. . .
If points stay the same after Sunday . . Chelsea are only one draw (against a big four) away from the what you have done so far against the small teams.
So technically, we have amassed the same number of points from the small teams so far. .

So when I say.

However, Chelsea haven't shown "SO FAR" that they'll take less points off the small teams than ManU would . . which will then make the big-four ties the title decider.
Nothing can be more accurate.
That is the whole story.

The number of losses don't mean shit.
If a team posts this result in a season: W32 D0 L6 = 96 points(yet unprecedented)
Forget about the number of games a team can lose. Think of the number of POINTS a team should not lose.
Draws also come into PLAY and as far as the number of draws can be kept minimal, you will win. What killed Liverpool last season was their number of draws(11). So them losing 2 league games throughout the season didn't mean shit after all's said n done.
The number of games you LOSE is not significant if the number of games you draw is VERY LOW + a high % WIN.
W30 L7 D1 is 91 points(U will win the league with 91 points). . . . .United won it with 90 points last season(with 4 LOSSES).
The number of losses matter in the course of winning the title.
Performance is relative. . . There is no team that can lose 7 matches, and then go ahead to draw just one.
That's where it becomes impossible.
If a team is capable of losing 7 games in the season, then they can't win 30. . . like I said performance is relative.

What you are doing here is creating a lab with an ideal situation. If a team is bad enough to lose 7 matches then they will have an array of draws. You can't create a situation. It won't work out like that in reality.

And you need to stop referring to last season. If Chelsea beat ManU, Arsenal and Liverpool at the bridge which is not too much to ask for, we would have won the league. I am not even hoping for some false points from somewhere.
We didn't lose the league because of our performances against the small teams. We lost because of our performances against the top four.

Chelsea have shown however, this season that things are different; with the performances we have shown so far.

The ban on transfer has been lifted and with possibility of a two-window transfer ban, we are going to the market in January to shore up. You can bet we are bringing in big names that may be CL tied but will feature in the prem. I can tell you we will be looking at least two players from Aguero, Dzagoev, Danny, Jovetic and Hazard, Robinho and I hear Madrid want to offer VDV to us on the cheap.

If a deal goes through, we are more than covered for the ACN (not like we weren't anyway) . . . We may not drop points over that period. (And we may) . . The point however, is we are bound to be stronger more than last year, more than two years ago. So your theories only belong in 2008/2009 season.

If you lose 7 matches, this season. . I don't know of another. . It is impossible to win the league.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Chelsea Fans: Identify Yourselves Here by nateevs(op): 6:40pm On Nov 06, 2009
It is not about which is important. .
We all know the league is not won by beating the big four all round. . . It's not science. . It's maths.

However, Chelsea haven't shown "SO FAR" that they'll take less points off the small teams than ManU would . . which will then make the big-four ties the title decider.

That said. . . If you check your history (though I don't have the stats now) you 'll find that no team has lost more than 6 matches in the league and gone on to win the League. At least in recent times. Please correct me if I am wrong on this one. . . (I very much think I am right).

You are thinking of after having lost two already this season, you can lose to Chelsea home and away, Liverpool home, Arsenal away and Man City away and then still win the league. . That's 7 losses!

Ignoring what happens against the small teams, you have to be on a healthy dose of dope to be thinking you can achieve such a feat. . . Now considering the fact there could be other points dropped against teams like Everton, Spurs, Bolton in any of the home and away ties, Chac you are over stating ManU's capabilities.

I am saying it again. If you lose home and away to Chelsea and lose to Arsenal and Liverpool again, it's impossible for you to win the league.

United copped just 5 points from a possible 18 points in the mini-league last season and they won the title.
The points that will win y'all the title are the points against the bottom sides.
Liverpool copped 14 points against the TOP FOUR last season and did not win the title.
Every time you come with this your rubbish theory, you talk about last season. Point out to me which other season that happened. The top four side were very poor last season. It's such a big shame to the prem that ManU put on such a show below par and they still won it. Now they've started with yet another round of a horror show and you think shit will be the same.

It won't happen again. If we all start that rubbish, Man-City will win the league. . . . Please spare us this nonsense. . .

I keep telling you that if Chelsea had Gus Hiddink from the start of last season, ManU would have been third. You won it because we were pathetic under Scolari (though I supported him).

If you lose home and away to Liverpool again. . it'll be a disaster. because there's a chance you may lose home and away to Chelsea, away to ManCity and away to Arsenal
That's extra 12pts. . . Take 12pts off your total last season and you'll see what I mean.

29th? Nah - I just like seeing Utd and Chelski players sent off. grin
Tsk tsk. . . .what a premature calculation! Are you instantly saying that simply winning home and away will lead to an 8 point gap? What happens in between? Could Chelski not drop points even before both games are played that either increases or eliminates any gap between the sides?

If Liverpool can beat Utd home and away, lose only twice all season and STILL lose the title, then by any stretch of the imagination it can happen to Chelski as well.
Sometimes you need to take into consideration who is talking. . .
You know me I am not always forward on "Chelsea will win the league thing" - At least this season.

Therefore it'll be wrong for you to insinuate that I am saying that ManU losing home and away to us will mean them being exactly 8pts behind us.
It was just an analogy based on the current form of both teams.
If both teams continue with the form they are in at the moment, it will do ManU no good to lose to Chelsea home and away.

Now I know the next question is. . . what are the chances that both teams will continue in the form they are in now? The chances are slim but in any case very much possible . . . It could also turn out to be that Chelsea get even better . . .

The worst thing to do will be to hope that Chelsea will get worse and implode like last season; therefore, if ManU lose to Chelsea home and away they (ManU) can still win the league. That's suicidal . .

No team in the top four were in a form that Chelsea are now. . . So I can bet you that any team that loses a home and away top-four tie this season, will not win the league.

Meanwhile The Sun says DD might NOT be available for the Atletico clash.
No need to risk him though, let Kalou, Borini, DS etc take their chances.

Did anyone notice that Uncle Carlo made no subs against Bolton? Not many managers do that.
TBH I think it was one of those dicey situations.
We didn't take the 3-0 lead until the 82nd minute.
At that time, there was no need to reinforce, no need to shut up shop and perhaps no need to rest players for the midweek game as we only need a point.
So it looked like there was no need for a change. .

I also think Carlo likes to be comfortably on top before making any changes that involve youngsters.
Maybe we should talk to the boyz not to leave the goals till very late.

I was watching Carlo on CTV talking about Bruma's debut. He spoke about Bruma being a top player for his age is has a future at Chelsea.
