From the youth team.
1st choices,

Ryan Bertrand, Van Aanholt.

2nd Choices

Hutchison, Bruma.

Any other questions?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Chelsea Fans: Identify Yourselves Here by nateevs(op): 3:27pm On Oct 04, 2009
A. If the quality of arsenals squad improving and the quality of uniteds remaining similar(or reducing) doesnt "justify" arsenal can compete again, I WONDER WHAT THE FUKC DOES!
I am sorry you can't ask me that. I do not believe that your squad is significantly stronger. You do. We can't agree here. You think your squad is better, I think you mean your first 11 is better. It is a subject open to debate. We won't agree here.

B. The quality of arsenals second eleven has improved even more significantly.
I did ask if they've improved or not. they may have improved and are still not good enough quality. Name the players. Are they proven prem quality?

C. Injuries are unpredictable(who would have thought van persie would play as many games as he did last season).its not like chelsea have a squad full of lampards. . . Drogba, JOE COLE, terry, carvalho, etc have had more than a fair share of injuries.
Injuries are definitely unpredictable. but there are some players you know will always be injured. always. These players won't be there season long and many times are absent during big matches. Nasri, Rosicky, Fab a few of those I can remember now.

D. I dont know exactly what u mean by "a top goal scorer". . . i'd like to know who the "top goal scorer" is at man utd.
One of the hallmarks of consistently successful teams is a top goal scorer. How the hell can you say you don't know what that means? When you were consistently successful, you the Wrights, Henrys to name a few. ManU had Ronaldo and now have Rooney. You may argue that but that fella will top 20 goals this season. Drogba, Anelka, Torres are all top goal scorers. I don't need to explain this. Right now you don't have one.

E. The big four have ALL shown they can come from behind to win MANY times, wtf?
Please don't say big four. You make it sound like we are all the same. No we aren't. Sorry to break your heart. How many times have you seen ManU, Chelsea or Liverpool play and you are wishing they drop points but there's that thing inside that just keeps telling you they won't? Are you telling me you've done as many times as ManU, Liverpool or Chelsea? If no is the answer, then you are not competing.

F. Arsenal dont play ugly, so we dont win, lose or draw ugly(we're not a rugby team). I guess what u mean is winning without playing particularly well. . . we do dat. No? did the team of 07/08 have this 'ability'?
I didn't say play ugly. I said win ugly.
Secondly, your point of view is not clear enough. What I am saying is Arsenal win only when they are at their smoking best. .when things don't go according to plan and you need to engineer a goal for the sake of the points, you are not up to it. That's what I mean by win ugly. . .  and that is why they lose to more teams outside the big 3 than any of the big three . . . and for that reason you are not competing.

G. Again, the big four all score many late goals. If i'm not mistaken, arsenal scored more goals in the last ten mins than any other team last season, i may be wrong.
Yes yes you are absolutely wrong. It was Liverpool, then ManU.   Don't even try to grab what isn't remotely close to you. . . . and until you beat the top three at this you can't compete.

H. U ask if we possess all these qualities? Telling u yes will be a waste of time cos your false view of arsenal cant be changed by divine intervention. So let me ask u a question of my own, did arsenal possess these qualities in 07/08? Answer then take another look at your mirror.
We've only dropped 3 POINTS more than anyone else. . . 3 POINTS.

Nateevs, u need to lie down for a while. U R NOT WELL. If symptoms persist after 2 days. . . . . .
You can't tell me yes because they all aren't true. The only one open to debate is the quality of the squad. . and that is not enough. ManCity, Spurs, Everton have all improved the quality of their squads . . . does that mean they are competing?
Maybe you don't understand. The relative difference in squad quality between you and ManU is highly depend on the previous difference in quality . . .

The quality of the ManU squad was so good that they can afford to sell the world's best player and still be favourites to lift the title. The difference was so big that even when you think you have improved and they have reduced you are still not good enough to compete.
It is not maths. It is relative comparison of player to player. Debosky was on our thread agreeing the other day that only Sagna, Fab and Arshavin can take first 11 shirts at Chelsea. A fellow gayner. Only 3! . . . and you are going on about improving . . If only 3 of you are good enough as the second best team or third best team (whichever side you choose to belong), how then are you competing?

Also you did not answer my other questions.

What's the pressure your team puts on the league leaders. . . How many points far off do you stay averagely season long?.
6 points adrift and you have 5 more head-to-heads with the top 3.

Do the league leaders finish playing and run to watch your match hoping you drop points? or do their mangers become friends with yours because you are no longer a threat to them?

Lastly. The most important question. . . What are your aspirations for the league, to win, to hang in, or just to secure a Champions league slot.

If after you honestly answer all these questions, you still think you are competing for the title, then we might as well assume that Spurs, Everton, Aston Villa and ManCity are competing for the league as well. . . and this argument will be effectively over!

^^ What nonsense ? If you don't understand bright future you'll get an inkling of it from Torres this evening.
Besides, another 47 years of waiting for your next EPL title should be lesson enough for you.
Go and check the records, since we won our first title in the 30's, Arsenal have never gone any decade without lifting  the title save for the sixties.
We've already had our fair share for this decade but we still intend adding to those we've won with the team we've methodically assembled,  But in your case, your aging squad(answer ritch boy's question on how many of your youth team players you know), combined with the Financial crunch that's causing the uber rich to spend more cautiously is a portent hanging over your sinking bridge. kiss
Firstly, where has bright future come into this. I have not argued about Future.
Infact I think Arsenal have the brightest future from the way they run the club. . .

And it's so funny the only thing people can always talk about in a Chelsea Liverpool tie is Torres. That's all
Is Torres all there is to Liverpool. .?

Secondly,
I should answer the question on how many of our youth players I know. . . .
This is the most fascinating thing I have come across in the sports thread. . This makes me laugh.

I have ChelseaTV on 24/7 . . I watch youth matches every week like I watch first team football. I wil name 1 to 11 without stress. . and I bring updates about youth football on here periodically.
If you don't come here, don't challenge those and what you don't know.
Crawl back to your thread man!

If we are to believe this unrepentant slowpoke, arsenal cant compete for the league. . . absurdity re-defined!
Tell me, is the current arsenal squad any worse than the one that spent most of the season at the top of the table in 07/08? Or is the current united squad(or any other teams') better than the one that eventually won the league that same season? answer me these questions, then take a look at a mirror and tell me the person u see is not the biggest slowpoke to ever live. Oh, unless of course, 'arsenal didnt compete for the league in 07/08'.
In spite of all the errors you've made. . . I know you are not an slowpoke. . .
I don't need to step down many levels to yours and begin trading words. . . whilst stylishly evading the facts. . .

You are only taking a defensive position. . . no facts, no figures nothing. . . . "Tell me this",  "tell me that"
I will answer your questions. . .

Yes the ManU team that won the title that season is better than the present one . . .

Happy?

The other one is what I can't really say yes to. .
Not after selling Flamini, Hleb, Adebayor and Toure. . Am I supposed to agree that you are stronger despite selling these players? . . No!

Let's say for a moment the answer is yes ( even though I after flawed that), the question will be how does that justify that Arsenal can compete? Now? . .  I don't get it.
This is where I say you are only taking a defensive position . . no facts no figures.

Here are the facts.
07/08 was two seasons ago. . .
Stronger squad now or not is not the most relevant thing as whether you can compete.
The relevant things are . . .

The difference between the quality of your squad and the Champions (How many of your 1st 11 will pick places in the champions sqaud))
The quality of your 2nd 11. (Impact substitutes)
The number of players that stay consistently out of injury.
A top goal scorer.
The ability to come back from a goal or two down consistently.
The ability to win ugly even when you have to.
The ability to score goals in the last few seconds.

Check honestly and ask if Arsenal possess all these essential qualities. The true answer is no! . . and until you you have these qualities . . I can confidently say you are not competing . . .

Other factors include,
The pressure your team puts on the league leaders. . . How many points far off you stay averagely season long. You are already 6 points adrift and you have 7 more head-to-heads with the top four.

I can go on and on. It's not enough. for you to come here telling me jack. . . answer those questions honestly and you know where you stand. Maybe for once you'll know what we on the outside think about you.

As for the other section of your post, there are some things I won't answer to. You don't sound grown to me.

@Ritchboy

Allow me the gracious opportunity to announce to you that you are the most confused Nairalander I have come across. . .
You skew up your arguments, your facts, your replies, everything.
You have not a focused argumentative point of view and you blame a poor Chelsea fan for it. . . I can't teach you to stand on a point.

U said arsenal cant compete for the league, which is a blatant lie.
I mean . . .who writes this? . . . You really believe it is a blatant lie that Arsenal can't compete for the title. "Arsenal can't compete for the title"  is not the sort of statement you call a lie. With a full squad you can't and you and I know it's only a matter before Vermaleen and Gallas get injured. . and you'll be struggling to be 6th.

U make it sound like chelsea have already won the league. . .
I don't make it sound like Chelsea have won the league. Your disdain and hate for Chelsea envelopes a common ability to make constructive reasoning out of simple situations. . . and you are embarrassing yourself.

Your statement. . . . . "just like in your mind, chelsea r odds on faves. everybody has an opinion" -  .

My response . . . . . . "That we are favourites to win the title is not solely my opinion. . .
Fight it as you may. . If you walk into the bookies the odds on Arsenal winning the title is about 5 times slimmer than Chelsea. . . and thank God that's my not my opinion. . ."

So where in the world did you deduce that I make it sound like Chelsea have won the league. . . You start with A and then jump to B back to A and then to C all in the name of shielding your defenceless situation tha tis clear as day for everyone to see. . . It's a big waste of time talking with you.

This myopic train of thought can only be as a result of relative inexperience in judging title races(which is common for a chelsea fan since 97.65% of their title races have been in the second division)
Your ignorance knows no bounds . . .
We were not Chelsea fans when Chelsea was in the second division. For that reason our judgement is not and will never be likely to be influenced by our second division titles. Many of us can't even say how many years we spent there unless we google it.
So aw do you suppose our "myopic train of thought" is because of that?. Just how?

There's a difference between banter and common sense. If you want to write about our exploits in the 2nd division, by all means go for it. . .but to say because of that, we can't judge title races, you must be having a laugh. You should stop typing now as you are making even less sense.

considering the fact that there are teams as good as/better than chelsea, i'm perplexed when someone types such unfiltered fibs. I meam theres nothing wrong in being optimistic but u sound a tad immature(like the bookies have a crystal ball they look into)
Teams as good as Chelsea's - Manchester UTD. . . . Please name one more. . .
Teams better than Chelsea's . . . . . ? Please name one. .
You are full of bullshi.t. . . don't write if you have nothing to say at all.
You don't have to show us that you hate Chelsea. . . everyone knows that. . . but at least your opinion shouldn't be bereaved of common sense. It will make no sense hating . . . at least hate with sense.

We are being optimistic. . that's as far as we get this season. Many of us haven't even given 100% trust to Carllotti - therefore you will see no one in the Chelsea camp talking about winning the league. We are hoping we stay on top for a long time and hopefully we can. . . Hopefully!
Even Bule Diva was saying the other day that Carllotti has only been lucky until he faces his big test. . . Many of us were even against his appointment. We are treading with caution.

What spurs all these rants is beyond my understanding. . .

The bookies have no crystal ball. .  they make odds based on strength of teams and more importantly the tenacity to stay on till the end . . . and I am very sorry if they don't rate Arsenal. No sensible person will. . . Aw is that my fault?

now let me reiterate, A CLUA WITH A HISTORY AS WRETCHED AS CHELSEAS ARE IN NO POSITION TO TALK ABOUT "trophyless-ness". . . such a remark only makes me feel even more sorry for your shitty club.
3 league titles in over a century of existence? Its a genuinely sad story
3 titles in 100 years is not a sad story. . . . It only highlights how far we have come as a club.
Not every club is successful from the word go and Chelsea happens to be one of those. . .

The documented facts have it that the league started in 1888. Arsenal did not win the league until 1931. That's 43 years later. You wouldn't have had much to say about Arsenal in terms of history if you were alive in 1929. Nothing at all. . . but like everything is, there will be a first time. Your first time came in 1931 and you've won 13 since then. Our real first time as a big club came in 2005. . and we may go on to win 13 by 2050. who knows?

because you live in 2009 doesn't mean you should not understand how to deal with issues. Evolution occurs. Time after time. So all this "no history" slagging off to me is irrelevant. What matters is now. What matters is relevance . . else you'll slowly slip back into oblivion resting on your past honours.

Utd can't say because they've won 17 titles, then let's pack it up and remind every newcomer we've won it 17 times. In 2100, it may have no relevance. Until for the purpose of records. . .

Win a title or at least a trophy. Stay relevant and then you can come here and and say what you like. . until that time you are not fit to talk of people's previous "trophyless-ness" . . when it's not like you are winning trophies yourself.
