Methinks Werder will not sell him at any price, cus he's been the player that has been blending in their strikers
Even at £40m with 2 years left on his contract? I know they love him but they will be gald to make that amount.

@Ibime.

I definitely know the effects of a mss clear-out. Somze never supports me on that. If you look at it critically though, you have just mentioned 14 players to be sold if we sell Cudi, Lamps and Essien. That's a lot and perhaps worse than I was suggesting. Renato Augusto, you and I have talked about him on this forum, he is one of my favourites, but I do not think he will make it big in the premiership. Secondly we have to bring in a play maker this time around, hence the choice of Diego. I think a proven midfielder, especially when he is the main dictator of play is better than an unproven one. With a winger you can always get unproven ones and have back ups shuld he fail. Diego should and must come. Infact if he is quoted £40m I support hands and legs to beat the club transfer record. Anelka, Drog, even Di Santo will be on fire. You will even be surprised to see Sheva score.

Farfan, definitely.
Quaresma, I know you like him. I think his got more tricks than results. I like technical and very serious players.
One left footed player is important. . . therefore VDV should be considered.
Chimbonda and Miguel? Thanks but no thanks.
Inter will not sell Super Mario, no mata what. Even if we give them Drog and Cash. JM is their Manager next season and he relishes the opp to have a very decent back-up Drogba, when drog leaves Chelsea to re-unite with JM.

Kalou out? no! Somze will rip me off when he reads this. I still believe he' got abilities. He needs confidence.

Alex song, yes decent player. I like him as well. I haven't heard you talk about a striker. Huntelaar, Berbatov, Aguero, Benzema.

We need one decent one. Di Santo, 3rd striker.

Fianlly, Kakuta, Tejera and Miroslav Stoch should be allowed to play in the carling cup next season.

@Somze

Diego is a brazillian player for werder bremen. I have watched the guy play live and I can't catch my breath. My lord I love him. We have been linked with him a few times but I do not know the valuation on his contract. He currently has a contract with bremen until 2010 so by next summer (2009), he can go on a cheap if he decides to leave. Bremen won't like that and will prefer to sell now. So this is the time to buy him, else he can be convinced to sign a new contract that puts his buy out fee at some astronomical level.

He's 23 and Dinho does not smell chances when Kaka and Diego play for Brazil. Beautiful and wonderful footballer

There is no way in this world Lamps can do what VDV does? VDV is a typical example of a play maker. Lamp is not a play maker. VDV can head and score curly free kicks while Lamps can't. VDV is an excellent dribbler, one touch footballer and can run with the ball. VDV can play on the left of a 4-3-3, 4-4-2 and can be the main midfielder in a 4-4-2. Now tell me Lamps can do all of that. No way.

Marek is a good header of the ball, can take good free kicks, has up to 15 goals this season, is quicker despite the italian league and a good example of the play-maker type player. Plus he's only 20. Lamps was nothing near this at 20.

The only thing Lamps has in common with these players is that he scores goals. So what happens when he doesn't score. That's where we need someone that will provide for others to score.

How come he neva cut it inthe national team? Well because the english team does not play like Chelsea. Capello does not and won't fancy him. Period.

To be fair, I think we have had more problems this season than last season. A big difference  however is that while this year's disturbance was with regard to the team, last year's was Manager's. JM managed to keep his player in perfect spirit even though he read about his job being offered to outsiders.

This season Grant knew he was going to face a stumbling block in the manner he got the job. He knew he had to do some convincing, so he was perhaps prepared for that. On the contrary, the team was in shambles which was not so last year - Players fighting manager, playing angry over subs, player accusing players of not playing well and more.  More injuries and international engagements than last year. Plus we were 7th at some point in the season.

It's really hard to tell but I think we' had more troubles this year overall than last year.

somze:
.

Nateevs,
All the players you mentioned were either bought before or at the same time with Drogba.

This deals a severe blow to your argument. It kind of supports the fact that JM bought players for his (JM) style of play NOT Drogba.

You named 3 players that come close to what skills you speak of and 2 of those were bought AFTER Drogba, dealing a further blow to your argument.

It is either wrong or inconclusive to say that players were bought for Drogba's sake.
JM style is Drog style, it depends on how you look at it. every football follower alive knows that JM Chelsea is built around Drog. . So what do you call that JM style or Drog style? I say it depends on how you want to see it. Bottom line is we are talking about the same thing.

When JM came in, he knew what he wanted to do, he met some players and he knew what he wanted to do. he kept some and laid off the rest. Now he bought SWP to do the robben, duff and Cole thing. He bought Tiago, Manciene and a host of others to sit back in a two defensive midfielder type of formation. In my opinion, the first Manager to play that in the premiership. They were meant to sit, defend and throw the ball to Drog and you know the rest. What is the main reason Mutu, Kezman, Sheva, Gudjohsen, Crespo and now Anelka neva really cut it in the JM era. These other players can play the Drog style and for as long as we continue to keep those players and that style, we will never have good strikers excel in Chelsea. Hence the need for a massive clearout.

3 players that have those skills, please check out Diego Ribas.

check out Rafael VanDer Vaart

Check out Marek Hamsik,

http://youtube.com/watch?v=DpfjNGkhnwQ

These are midfielders, and I am talking about all round Mifielders. All of them together will be paid by what Lamps rejected. That's what I am talking about.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Chelsea Fans: Identify Yourselves Here (Old) by nateevs(m): 1:38pm On Apr 27, 2008
@Somze,

You are missing the point. You and know that Drog won't be here next season. Therefore post Drogba talks can continue.
Secondly I have carefully chosen no to enter the Drog discussion but it looks like you have brought me into it.
The truth is Chelsea is set up to play the Drog style. If you do not understand that style, then you don't understand Drog's style. Route one football. From Cech, to Drog, Terry to Drog, Carvalho to Drog even Maka to Drog. That's the route the ball follows most times because he is meant to bring all these people into play. Muorinho started it, and he bought all his players for this style; meaning that several player were bought for the purpose of Drog. So when I suggest that several players be bought because of Anelka, I have not overstated anything.

When I talk about the players like Diego, VDV, Kaka, Marek Hamsik, I am alking about breeding a style of football very similar to what barca plays. Clearly Drog will not cut it in that type of style. If you throw Drog into barca right now he will be lost; except you don't fully understand Drog's style. Anelka has not cut it in chelsea because we have route-one players and we play a 4-3-3 which clearly suits drog.

Drog is not a dribbler, just like Anelka isn't a header. Drog will not play return-pass style of football. He can't play a one-two. Drog excels because we have all the players that are just like him. They all can't play the one-two, except Mikel, Maka and Kalou. You have to throw the ball in the air to make Drog hig-flying.  Why do you think Manu and Arsenal ride over Liverpool and we don't. benitez understands every part of our route-one, while ManU and Arsenal have diversity to the game.

I am not being unfair to Drog and I do not dislike him, I do not like the fact that he can't dribble and pass well ( and I am not talking about a one-time thing he did in a match, I am talking about always.) I just favour a different style. I like free flowing football. I do not mind Drog being at chelsea, if we have to switch styles when the passing game is not working.

Lampard, you know how I feel about him. I am definitely anit-lamps. I do not hate him. . I do not like his style. Lamps scores a lot of goals because of the route-one as well. Lift the ball to Drog, he uses his power to hold on to it bring Robben, Duff, Joe, Guddy, into play. The fast players race along the flanks, try to cross, a deflection occurs, Lamps is there in or out the box and there is a goal. It's a one way style and when you switch the style Lamps will not play. What happens when it does not work? and with Drog leaving he won't get as many goal. I want him to pick the ball up run with it, go past 3 players, make a sizzling through pass through the middle, and watch your players score. Tha's a midfielder and that's what I want to see.

Lamps, like Drog can't play one-two, he is not a fantastic passer of the ball (not sideways passes), he can't dribble, he can't head, he can't run past players. He can't take curly free kicks. Look at everything I have pointed out that he can't do but I know he scores and that's just about it and I do not think it is wise for a club to pay £140,000 a week for all those things he can't do. What happens when we bring Kaka that can do all these things he can't do and can score as well? We pay him £200,000? No way!!!!

As for Kun, let me tell you he moved from Argentina to Athletico, guess how they paid for him. £17million. ~this guy was worth £17m 2 seasons ago, so when I say I support £30-£35m. I damn sure know what I am talking about. this guy already benches Tevez in the national squad and the hottest thing after Messi. It's not about spending on an unproven player, it's about spotting the ones you know will cut it. we spent £30m on a proven one 2 seasons ago, see what came out.  I do not support buying players before they are world best, I think we should buy him before he becomes one. Mark it, he will become one of the world best, just like Barca spotted Messi.

somze:
Messi, Ronaldihno, Ronaldo etc came no where close to that amount either. I don't support buying any player for more than £15million except he is currently the world's best player or close to that.
Becos they were bought before they became world class. If we spotted Kun when he was in Argentina, he would have cost us £15m

I meant Kun is dimunitive, as in short and there's is so much debate about short players making it in the premiership.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Chelsea Fans: Identify Yourselves Here (Old) by nateevs(m): 12:45pm On Apr 27, 2008
£35m is definitely a lot of money, but if there's one teenager that's worth every penny of that transfer, it's Kun Aguero. Footballers sometimes turn out to be the opposite of what we expect, but if he turns out better than he is now, then he'l be worth a £100m in a few years.

@Ibime

I know you are not really keen on that move. I am. There's so much talk about dimunitive players making it in the premiership but I know that if we have the right kind of players, Anelka and Aguero with a free playing supporting midfielder like Diego or VDV, these guys will score goals.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Chelsea Fans: Identify Yourselves Here (Old) by nateevs(m): 11:11am On Apr 27, 2008
Still celebrating. . . . grin grin
What an end to the title race . . . .
I don't know what others think . . . . but Chelsea has been the best team in the premiership this year.
To think that we were once 7th in the league is crazy. .
Now we light fire ManU yansh. . and they have to pick up all the points. .doesn't mean our fixtures are easy anyway. .
I still do hope ManU drop points. . If they don't, well I'l be glad they did not have a stroll to the title. .

The UCL home leg approaches, and if we play the way we played Manure from the 1st half, we are in the finals no doubt. I don't see Liverpool coping with that type of pressure. Overall we have to score. . and if I think we have to score twice. . Definitely a goaless draw is good enough. . . we might have a Riise in our team and you neva know. 2 goals and that settles. It won't be an easy match, definitelt wouldn't. Benitez will throw in everything he's got.

Still I am hoping we come out tops. I refuse to talk about finals until after the match. A double is very much alive.

Beautiful game of football. . . every minute of the match was worth it's while.
It was eally hard to pick the MOTM. . . Ballack named MOTM on sky.
Really sorry for Riccy. .  Ashley Cole and Sheva made very geat contributions today though. . .

I must commend Avram Grant . . . his subs were spot on . . and I have never jumped to pump my fists in the air when Grnt makes a change. . . I did today. .
Drogba and Ballack let out few moments of passion. . . It's all for the team anyway. Those things happen.
Ferguson wanted a penalty. . . he's beginning to think they must have one in every match. . .

The season goes down to the wire . . and with ManU's poor form away and injuries piling, I expect them to to drop points; provided we win our own matches. . . now I am really wishing we won the Wigan game. .

But the record is still protected guys. . . most formidable record in football.

It's 80 matches unbeaten at home. y'all aint gat a clue, the premiership is blue!!!!!!
