airmark: I was against appointing Pochettino and more vocal than most of you guys.
I can't say the position Pochettino would have put us on the table right now, all i know is he can't win us the Epl.
Calm down. The question was not about whether you wanted Poch or not.
The question was to make you see, in your own words, that Maresca is the main difference; and as such, you cannot continue to say boldly "oh we upgraded the attack, I was right".
Yes, buying Sancho, Felix, and Neto has helped, but the main difference has been Maresca, because guess what? .....the main problem has always been tactical, like I said.
airmark: I have not been lying to you, so that last line was unneeded.
If you want to know about my position about Pochettino, i believe Popizaino is in the best position to tell you i never rated him to lead us to my target, before he was even announced as our manager.
Just as Timbros and his ignorant friends insulted me regarding my unpopular position on attack vs defence debate, Popizaino hurled all sorts of insults on me when we dragged it, while most of you were quiet. At the end of the day, Popizaino apologized and the gaffer was chased away just like in the case of your Morata.
My takes are most times unpopular and attract insults from ignorant fans, but at the end of the day i am most of the time justified.
Jesus Christ. Are you really saying you were vocal about Poch whilst most of us were quiet? Is this what you are saying?
Whilst you answer that, please focus on the main question that was asked. Would we be in the same position, if Poch had this exact same players?
Bombblacks: My statement was clear. Yamal at 17 was better than Messi at 17 which is an obvious fact. I didn't tell you Yamal was more talented or will have a better career. You are the ones trying to add sugar and spice. Yamal at 16/17 is comparable to Messi at 19.
Nope he was not. He's only got the chance earlier than Messi to show how good he is. That's all.
Ibime: I hope he can score goals (which he is doing) to earn better contract. Man is 27 years old. If not it's straight back to Naija to start from scratch after his career. I doubt he can even save £400 per month from that salary
This looks a lot more competitive than in Salah's time Man City 6 Liverpool 1
I agree with you that this is data after the fact. The nuance in my argument though, is that we never went into any of those 7 seasons thinking at any point, that it was only City's title to lose.
Kimbeast: This is a myth. When last did Arsenal,United and Tottenham win the league. Salah played in an easy era. I mean few years ago most were of the opinion Mane was even better.
In the era that Henry played. And this is the point I was making.
nihilistjnr: In the last 10 years, City have won the league 7 times. Salah joined Liverpool in 2017. And in his 7 seasons at the Club, City have won the league 6 times.
Arsenal were the Liverpool to United's City in that era, in every conceivable way.
Without checking the stats, easily four of those titles were won with a point difference of 2 to 8. I might not be perfect with the numbers, but you will find that it tallies with the point I am making - any of four teams could have won in those years, if City slipped.
You can't say the same for the times United and Arsenal dominated the league.
Amigoss: If no be pep, city oil money and 115 charges, this wouldn't be a debate sha...When Abrahamovic oil money came into chelsea henry stood no chance, imagine Abrahamovic came earlier...
Salah is a bigger epl legend than igwe
This right here is where I stand in this debate. Henry largely competed in the league mostly when only 1 of United and Arsenal could win the league.
Salah achieved all his accolades in the era where there was a concept of top 4, then top 6, and when easily any one of 4 teams could win the league.
popizaino: Last season when we drew 2-2 to relegation bound teams like Sheffield united and Burnley,I specifically said conceding multiple of one goal shouldn't be a problem to a team of Chelsea standard against such teams because we are expected to score more than they can score us,which made me to bring in some examples of teams who have had to come back from two goals down to win on multiple occasions after conceding unexpectedly. Man city vs. Aston villa on the last day of 3 seasons ago should come in mind.
If they can score 2,you can score 3 or 4 and ask our managers to build on such mindset instead of hoping we adopt Mourinho's 2004 game approach in big 2024. I was ridiculed, insulted, and asked if the game was basketball?
Surprisingly, the team did what was expected for any team to do when in such situations. Accepting that you have conceded but you can also score more, and we did just that in the most beautiful fashion and i am yet to see Port-Harcourt second born timbros and his people to ask why we should conceded a goal to fucking Tottenham like they always ask last season, when they always expect us to just go into a match hoping not to concede and score one goal as if mistakes doesn't happen in football that can make you concede even without anybody's fault. I guess the L hits very hard this time .
Anyways,to cut this long story short,i will advise all those one who are quick to insult and denigrate other people's opinions here like @Leyqute to ask questions rather than trying to be mad like he was trying to do yesterday.
I will start this by saying, again, I am not on the attack v defence debate (read this caveat well Airmark, before your start fight again), but this is one of those where I have to interject.
What they are saying is not wrong. You cannot be up for it every game. It's not possible. Fatigue, loss of form, coaching errors, they all happen.
If your defence line makes a habit of conceding 2/3 every game, then you are going to lose more games/points as a consequence.
It does not mean they prefer defensive football. They just prefer that we don't concede goals, instead of the attitude "it doesn't matter, we'll just outscore"
Realtord43: so you mean maresca can't achieve what Conte did in his first season?
Remember, Chelsea were badly out of form, when Conte arrived, same as when Maresca took over.
It's not out of place or too much expectation if will expect Chelsea to win the league, it has happened before and it can still happened.
He's being too aggressive with a very simple point. I think what he's trying to say is simply.....'no Chelsea fan should demand that Maresca wins the league this season or the next. But if it happens, then we should take it'.
Capaldi: How the hell did he win MOTM. He was not even top 3. Caicedo, Enzo and Sancho had a better game. Lavia was also immense until he left. Apart from the penalties he had an average game.
He equalled and surpassed an all-time Premier League record in the same game - 11 and 12 consecutive converted penalties without miss. That alone is enough for MOTM. It's a big deal, and it clutched the 3pts for us.
Then there was the confidence with which he converted the second penalty, and the way he conjured a chance out of literally nothing for the 3rd goal, even if not a CCC
Now I understand how/why others could/should have won it, but that's just testament to how the team is performing at the moment.
airmark: It's really appalling, and that's the reason i found time to tackle their nonsense.
That Aba-made fan never for once in his posts asked Chelsea to send Sterling away but i was shocked when he claimed he was the leader for Sterling's dismissal on this thread few days ago.
Is this me?
I promise I won't go into insults. I just want to address the issue if I think you are referring to me.
popizaino: I still have my reservations about this, though, because you had a soft spot for Tuchel, who was boring us to death with his passive football.
That's by the way, good you are anti-JM though at least we got something in common. Whiles you were the lone voice online,i was also doing my offline.
You misunderstood my reasoning of Tuchel. Tuchel is dynamic. I am a big 3-4-3 fan, love of attacking FBs, WBs, anything that contributes to the attacking phase of the game.
Tuchel brought all these. Yes, the football went south a little bit, but it's not to say we didn't become a serious attacking side under him when he arrived. And he did that without buying a single new player.
When he had to go into the market, it turned out he was a poor transfer/talent identification manager, and his choices in the market ruined his dynamism. We also need to mention crucially, the coincidence of long-term injuries to James and Chilwell, both who were critical to the success of his set up.
It was not pretty arguing against a very successful manager. One that brought trophies. It was difficult. I disagreed vehemently with his ultra defensive approach.
I am an ultra-attack minded fan. Student of Rinus Michels, the whole concept of total football, it's evolution over time, and a massive fan of the Dutch NTs of yore.
popizaino: I remembered you were contented with a 2-2 draw against Liverpool some seasons ago under Tuchel. A game were we dominated and should have won but you were satisfied with the fact that the lads tried by coming from a 2goals deficit to draw.
