Politics / Power Tussle In The APC by Nathaniel734: 1:24pm On Aug 22, 2013
Interim National Chairman of the newly registered All Progressives Congress (APC), Bisi Akande, wielded the big stick in Abuja on Wednesday when he prevented former military Head of State and a leader of the party, Muhammadu Buhari, from speaking on his Presidential ambition.

The drama took place during the question time, as Akande addressed a press conference after a closed-door meeting of the APC leaders at the Ladi Kwali Hall, Sheraton Hotels and Towers, Abuja.

When Buhari made attempt to answer question on his rumoured 2015 Presidential ambition, Akande simply stepped in, saying he would not allow him (Buhari) to do so.

Also at the event, Interim Deputy National Chairman of the party, Annie Okonkwo, was literally forced to withdraw from the November 16 Anambra State governorship election, leaving the stage for Chris Ngige, a former Governor of the state.

The meeting, which was attended by who is who in the APC, had all the state Governors under the banner of the new party in attendance.

The meeting was called to announce the commencement of nationwide registration of new members and to solicit the support of members for funds to run the party.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had last month formally registered the APC which emerged from the merger of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) and Congress for Progressive Change (CPC).

Akande had just finished addressing the press on the plans of the party after the closed-door session.

During question and answer session with newsmen, Buhari was asked by journalists to confirm if he would contest the Presidential election in 2015 but before he could answer, Akande cut in restraining Buhari from speaking.

Akande said: “I overrule Buhari from answering that question. This is my press conference and if anybody wants to declare to contest, he should call his press conference in his house.”

The response of Akande, however, contradicted his earlier directive that questions could be put to any of the leaders of the party at the high table which included Buhari, Tom Ikimi, Audu Ogbeh, Aminu Masari and John Oyegun, among others.

El rufai is an unstable politician who only wants to feel relevant at all cause regardless of what it takes, he lacks integrity. Probably, he thought the government will favour him like that of OBJ but when it didnt he started castigating the President.

Afterall he was the same person who said Buhari is expired and should go and rest, today he is licking is boot and projecting him as the best candidate in anticipation of a position.

itz just so sad.
Entertainment / If You Slap Me, I Will Still Clean Your Shoes — Don Jazzy Replies Eedris Abdulka by Nathaniel734: 3:00pm On Aug 14, 2013
Controversial rapper, Eedris Abdukareem, who has been fighting hard lately to bring back his already nosedived music career, picked on Don Jazzy when he dissed him in a new song. The issue cropped up online some hours ago on some blogs.

In his usual matured way of handling hot issues, the Mavin Records boss replied the rapper, who once had issues with American rapper, 50 Cent, which began the wreck of his music career few years ago.

“Baba (referring to Eedris), if you wooz (slap)me, I go still bend down clean your shoe o. I hail. Love your new jam, keep the flag flying boss. God bless,” a composed Delta State-born Don Jazzy tweeted online.

Eedris is not new to controversies. He once had problem with former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who slammed him for his ‘Jagajaga’ hit single some years ago.

Some have described Don Jazzy’s response as matured, which may likely humiliate Eedris’ ego.

Camilia247: i have never liked this politicians because they are all but the same. Even if we take a look at any of the APC states, the same way PDP states are is just the same the are, no striking differnce. this makes me understand that it is all about just being in power, afterall PDP did it, the tell us all what they feel like to get our votes and once they have it, that's all.
Now this should give us a glimpse of what we should expect from APC, nothing differnt, all liars. all they want is just to be in power.

Maybe we should still give them the benefit of doubt...

Politics / The Early Morning LIE By Lai Mohammed by Nathaniel734: 11:08am On Aug 13, 2013
Last week we read a post about an invitation by an international TV (BEN TV) host, Kayode Ogundamisi to the National Publicity Secretary of Nigeria’s main opposition party APC, Lai Mohammed. Kayode the host alleged that prior to the interview, The Hon. Lai Mohammed demanded for possible questions to be asked, which he refused to oblige. According to him, that didnt go down well with Lai, and resulted in his absence in the studio.

But Kayode never gave up, he tried calling him for over 19 times in the studio in the presence of the whole world especially those watching the programme, and to his amazement, Lai's skype was available but he kept rejecting the calls over and over again. (he wasnt smart enough).

Somedays later, Lai decided to respond to the letter sent to him, and the subsequent post by Kayode Ogundamisi, he refuted the claims by Kayode. Surprisely, Kayode still held on to what he said giving more evidence and expressing his dissappointment in the person of Lai Mohammed.
The post generated alot of response, i refused to comment on that post because i needed to hear from the Lai himself, now i have and i'm so dissapointed that he could still be lying.

Although i dont know Kayode personally, but i hold him in great esteem, a non partisan fellow, who says it the way it is regardless who is involve. Therefore he wouldnt come out to make such an allegations if he wasnt sure of such.

This brings me to the main issue, isnt it too Early for Lai Mohammed who represents the newly registered party whom we are tempted to believe in to start by telling Nigerians and the whole world lies, just when we thought we are going to witness a better political scene. It makes us realize that there is no much difference between any of this politicians, they are all self centered, it's really disheartening, where do we turn to? A lying Lai? or where

Camilia247: The should just grant Universities autonomy, so that all this issues of funding will end

You see this is one of the problems, how can ASUU be seeking for autonomy and still be crying for funding, in as much as education is one very critical sector of the economy, that doesnt mean all funds should be directed there, i believe autonomy won't be a bad idea.
Politics / Re: How To Solve ASUU Problem by Nathaniel734: 1:45pm On Jul 17, 2013
otokx: Govt should be sincere, university authorities should stop over admitting. A class should have maximum of 50 students not 400 as we see in some cases today.

But following the increasing number of students gaining admission every yr, will it be possible to have 50 in a class, i think the just need to provide more structures to accomodate this students , although they shouldnt be upto 400 like you said... ASUU need to be sensitive in their demands too
Politics / How To Solve ASUU Problem by Nathaniel734: 12:51pm On Jul 17, 2013
No doubt ASUU strike has caused a lot of unforseen stagnation in academic life of some Nigerian youths. Although they havnt really stated what their grievances are in clear terms, all they keep sayng is 2009 Agreemnet implementation and all that, what really is in the 2009 Agreement, are the feasible and attainable?

Well to me, i think both parties, the FG and ASUU really need to sit and properly look at bottlenecks in the agreement, and probably make amends in order to end this strike because as it stands now, the future of our youths is being mortgage as it stands, its so painful and disheartening.

Letz proffer solutions on the way forward here...
Politics / Egyptian Moves...Good Or Bad? and its Implication On Nigeria by Nathaniel734: 11:28am On Jul 04, 2013
Like everybody, we are watching very carefully what's happening in Egypt, The Morsi government has struggled with the [smuggling] tunnels, rebel activity, arms smuggling — all sorts of things. They have done their best in many ways to shut that down, and now that government is gone. Adly Mansour, 68, chairman of the Supreme Constitutional Court, takes over as acting president during an unspecified transitional period. Egypt is in many ways the most important country in the Middle East and this will likely have ramifications far beyond the ancient country's borders, potentially affecting the balance of power in the Middle East and across African countries.

Now our concern is this:
Was that a good way to unsit an alleged legitimate government?
Will this in any way affect Nigeria or Nigerians at large?
Can Nigerians take to the street too?

Letz have a highly intellectual debate here

The ACF said in the statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Anthony Sani, that it would amount to irresponsibility on the part of the Federal Government if it folded its arms and watched some “few misguided elements” hold the nation to ransom.

It said: “Nobody with a head, with a heart and with patriotic courage, can withhold support for the JTF and, thus, the Federal Government over the current campaigns against the militants. This is because no responsible government can afford to fold its hands and watch a few misguided elements of its citizens hold the nation, including their own people/communities, to ransom.
“More depressing, the will of the Armed Forces is being challenged when their members are also killed in the course of their national assignment. In such circumstances, the government cannot reasonably be expected to shirk its responsibility of maintaining law and order.

“Hence, the recent campaigns by the ‘’Operation Restore Hope’’ by the military aimed at ridding the Niger Delta region of criminal activities of militants.

“The campaigns must necessarily come with collateral damages, which the JTF must maintain at its possible minimum. That is how the current actions of the military in the Niger Delta should be viewed by all fair minded individuals with patriotic courage.”

ACF, the unbrella organisation of socio-political and cultural organisations in the North, is headed by Maj.- Gen. IBM Haruna.
“The military operations against the militants‘ camps to an extent is understandable, but the campaign against criminals and militants in civil Ijaw communities of Gbaramatu in Delta State and with a promise of extending it to other Ijaw communities in Bayelsa, Ondo and River State is clearly a cleansing agenda.[b]The ACF said in the statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Anthony Sani, that it would amount to irresponsibility on the part of the Federal Government if it folded its arms and watched some “few misguided elements” hold the nation to ransom.

IN MAY 2013

The communique signed by the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of ACF, Fati Ibrahim further reads that: “the National Executive Council of the Arewa Consultative Forum met today, the 15th of May, 2013 at its national headquarters Sokoto Road Kaduna. The meeting which was presided over by Alhaji Aliko Mohammed, the Chairman, was attended by large delegations from all the states of the North.

“After reviewing and discussing recent developments in the country, the meeting resolved to issue the following communiqué:

“The ACF takes notice of the proclamation of the state of emergency in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states by the Federal Government on the grounds that attacks and killings by insurgents and other terrorist groups require more massive military response. The meeting was concerned that the President appears to invest more faith in a military solution even where evidence from our experiences so far bears no such optimism.

“It is the hope of the ACF therefore that the Federal Government does not consider the increased military deployments as a superior option or alternative to the slower and more tedious path of dialogue, negotiation and conciliation.

“In particular, the ACF calls on the military to avoid the temptation of deploying heavy handed tactics or adopt measures that will cause increased civilian casualties and bloodshed under the cover of emergency rule. They are well advised to involve the local populace in their operational plans in order to minimize collateral civilian suffering.

http://ireports-ng.com/2013/05/16/boko-haram-northern-leaders-oppose-state-of-emergency-in-borno-yobe-adamawa-say-dialogue-is-better-option/

This has always been the problem we face in this country, sentimental judgement...so it was good for Military to intensify operations in Niger Delta regardless of the fact that it will cause some collateral damages but it sint good for such to be carried out on Terrorists and insurgents that have killed many innocent lives. i am not justifying the inimical acts of boko haram but comparing to that of the boko haram, every right thinking person will no that this boko haram members are by far very deadly, and deserve all what they are facing now.

i expected a respected group like the ACF to either proffer better solution and support government than come out to indirectly show their support for boko haram.

It all boils down to the insencerity of most Nigerians in the fight against insecurity, the only try to fustrate the effort of the President making him look bad, letz all contribute our own quota, and the phase of insecurity will be long forgotten.
