If I someday get involved in politics and attain a significant position at the state or federal level, I'll put an outright ban on the burial traditions down South. It's stupid and unnecessary.

The Nigerian Police are a real embarrassment to the rule of law and good policing. The job of the Police is to arrest and charge to court let the courts determine guit or innocence. The Nigerian constitution demands that all suspects be presumed innocent until a competent court of law says otherwise

But the Nigerian Police wants to be judge, jury and executioner. You arrested a suspect, branded him a 'notorious kidnapper', publicly paraded him, and subjected him to a media trial. Why?

Why not charge the man to court let the courts decide his fate? Why beging a media show trial? Why parade and brand the man? Why spread 5he man's picture on social media

This is the sort of thing that happens in backward societies

All these ones we are saying is because we are in a democracy.. If Military should take over, they'll suspend constitutional laws and order the execution of these kidnappers publicly to serve as lesson for others.. The case of Anini and others terrorizing mid-west back then comes to mind.

People who condemn military for striping off uniform from civilians will not like to comment on this thread.

I don't care about putting on military uniform because it doesn't mean anything. The uniform gives our fishbrain ladies a sense of protection. And that's why people assume the uniform is some kind of supernatural powers when put on.

I am super sure that you did not watch that video. please go back and watch the video and edit your comment and if it happens that you indeed watched the video then your IQ level is questionable because I see no reason police will arrest someone without atleast arrest warrant or atleast disclosing his crime to him. if he had any question to answer, an invitation should have been the best and if he ignores it then you can get arrest warrant and come and arrest but the police in that videos did not comply with any of those.

State the relevant sections of the law that forbids police from effecting an arrest during a live TV appearance. The police can even breakdown and barge into your house, break your car window, drag you off of an airplane to effect a lawful arrest if you are resisting like the guy here, and they are completely backed by law, you are here talking of live TV presence. Also what is morally or professionally wrong in arresting a criminal wherever he may be?

Whilst we sympathize with various kidnapped victims, it's important that we hold our security agencies responsible for failing in their job. I mean how worse can things get? These kidnappers have become so brazen that they now operate freely without any fear. Our security architecture (if at all we have any) has to be dismantled and restructured because it's obviously not working.

Secondly, I think paying of ransome should become a criminal offence. In case you don't know, by paying ransome, we are enabling the terrorists, bandits and kidnappers by providing them with the much needed funds to continue to expand their operations.

Now, to answer the original question; what will the kidnappers do with the 60m ransome? They will buy more sophisticated weapons, recruit more kidnappers and settle all their 'people' that participated in the operation. Is this not enough morale booster to continue in that illicit business?

The state governor really blew his chances and should have himself to blame if he doesn’t win in 2025. A lot was expected especially with the whole Dubai Taiwan mantra and the fact that he has achieved a lot in his career. Almost 2 years down the line, nothing has changed really. He just came in, did the usual thing like every other average Nigerian governor. Nothing special to say that we are being led by a highly rated professor of economics who has been engaged at the highest levels. No massive economic or infrastructural turnaround, nothing, just the usual road constructions with open gutters and no functional walkways. No organised and digitised markets and bus parks. No plans to widen and digitise the tax net. No plans to upscale the informal economy or set up SMEs, just business as usual.
