emmarichie: Good day guys, I have a job interview in the US and my visa interview date is end of February, my passport got damaged by water after my visa application and I had to pay for a reissue which I got the next day in Abuja. I was informed that I may have to pay another visa fee because my passport number has changed. Secondly, there's this worry that my chances are slim because I have no traveling experience. I need your advice. Thanks

Uchboggy: My Experience at two USA embassies (Abuja and Oslo)
I currently reside in Norway but booked a USA visa appointment for Abuja in December since I was traveling home for the Christmas holiday. I didn’t know I was making a very big mistake.below is a summary of my experience at the embassy of USA in Abuja and then in Oslo.
I must say that USA sees Nigerians as criminals. Miles away before you get to Abuja Embassy you’ll see all sorts of armors ,a crowd of security personnel like they are expecting a war. they checked us almost 5 times before we got to the real interview. Yet they still denied more than 90 % (including me )
While in this place (Oslo) you won’t even see a human being until you are close enough to touch the entrance door. And the one person you see isn’t armed (even a knife). Yet they approved more than 90% of visas including mine.
In Nigerian the consulars are hostile and behaving like they are giving you the key to heaven while here in Oslo they would even assist you to make sure you get the Visa.
I can’t just explain enough. I didn’t even say one tenth of what I said in Abuja yet it was approved.
Below is the most hilarious part of my experience in Abuja. I spent more than an hour trying to prove to the consular that my norway Visa and resident permit were legit. There was no method I didn’t use. He first took me to a special investigation room, asked me to tell him about norway and where I resides in Norway, the name of the airport in Oslo, how much a bottle of beer costs, the name of my school and the location of the different campuses, asked me to show him some of my results, my Norwegian bank card,my school ID, asked for my school email,he went as far as asking the security people to escort me outside to get my phone so he would see pictures I took in norway, he checked the plate numbers of the cars in the pictures to confirm if they were norway number plate, he went further to send a mail to my school email and asked me to reply. In fact there was no other way I didn’t prove beyond doubt that I resides in Norway. You wouldn’t believe I was still denied after all.(I was later granted when I reapplied in Oslo in January when I returned from Nigeria)
Later, after I was granted in Oslo I understood the plight of the guys in Abuja. They must have been wondering why someone who would be granted USA Visa almost automatically in Oslo come down to Nigeria to apply for a Visa.
The moral of the story is that you stand a better chance of getting a USA Visa from outside Nigeria than in Nigeria.

I made my first major trip out of Nigeria in august 2017(i had been to Cotonou and Ghana on some occasions before then) and since then i have been to 9 countries(France, Italy,Turkey,Poland...) already(all thanks to my schengen visa), i plan to visit more countries this year starting next week with Norway, Hungary and Austria....then later in the summer,Russia (world cup), USA and more European countries.

You made some points but never heard about this kind of scrutiny ever from applicants unless you exaggerated more than i could process.
i never said you should read all. but as much as possible. after all some people spend 6 years in university and achieve nothing but still don't complain but regard it as knowledge.

Generally... My advice for you is to read lots of pages of this thread cos they are daily activities and people's experience over here so u would be fortified for the task ahead cos no short cut.

Officially they ask you to hold 1000USD, but most ppl go with far less than that so far they have an excuse to give the airport officials. but please don't come broke with hopes of hitting a jackpot in days , its better you come with all you can get and spend wisely..

No where is crowded or waste of time. it all depends on you mode/strategy of search, don't judge with the over publicized walk-ins.

Why would someone have your medicals for you? They need just a sample of your blood and X-ray for it. unless the person has same face with you cos you would have to go with your international passport.

You can check all these yourself and get the best rates online. You can get your Flight and Visa and hotel. then get a tour package from the hotel. cos me i don't know your preference.
Any company dat didn't give you accommodation would provide a stipend for it In your contract breakdown. E.g: Some can give you 5k with accommodation and some 5k without accommodation. So it depends on the employer.
At a point i was like if they didn't approve this your visa, then your village ppl went there with you. cos you entertained and was in control of the interview.

I actually read from page 0 to d last, and I noticed getting UAE visa is now getting harder by the day with new rules popping up.
Going by the first few pages, we only need to authenticatr academic certs only
Later, letter of eligibility was inlcuded and now police conduct certificate.
Only God knows what theyl introduce next.
Yea, I contacted a Friend who's brother has been in Dubai for a while, don't know the job he does but told me he can run a 3month tourist visa for me.
He said the visa will cost me 300k.
He sent me a Gtbank account number bearing 'A-square Global link'.
I dont know anyone knows about.this agency. i can't afford to be scammed.
He also said it will take about 4weeks for the visa to ne out, How true is this? Thanks
His account name/number has nothing to do wit it being a scam for example, My personal account number bears my name and My corporate account bears my company's name.
You need to confirm from your friend that his brother isn't a scam.
I guess he told you 4 weeks so u wouldn't be all over him cos of the visa. UAE visa comes as early as 4days to infinity number of days.
