Etin: @Etin, Per obama, win or loose he has represented very well. It will be interesting to see what happens. No, I did not get my pin yet but it was nice to get the card as I wasn't expecting one. BTW, did you get a Naira checkbook eventually? I recal you or maybe it was someone else on the thread, requested one. |

@All, If you trust your broker, I suggest you use their address as your mailing address for everything. It makes life a lot easier and works great. I have experienced both situations - using my brokers address versus using my US address. |

What are the best rates to call Naija? Folks, What are the best rates to call Nigeria from the US. I currently use an on-line calling card from phoneshark.com which is programmed to my home and cell phones so I do not enter a pin when I call from either number. I also like the convenience of top-ups on-line. They claim 9.5 cents to Lagos and 14.1 cents to cellphones. Occasionally, I call from my Vonage phone. I do not like the phone cards from stores, most of them are rip-offs around here. Anyone with a better rate to Naija? |

@Invisible I like your analysis and I am thinking the same. The growth potential is HUGE. If Soludu succeeds with the currency thing then these machines will work even better as they won't need to hold as much physical notes and people can withdrwaw more. Them fit even reach the yankee drive through model Plus I also think they will make good money from the lottery itself, na cash business. |

wanaj0:Sad @Wanaj0, Pumping, Wendy, What do you guys know about NSLTech management? Can they deliver? I appreciate your responses. http://www.stockmarketnigeria.com/2008/02/04/national-sports-lottery-deploys-20000-e-payment-machines/ Dr. Kola Daisi, the Chief Executive while addressing financial correspondents, stated that the company projects a profit after tax of N3.03billion and N7.27billion and N9.1billion within the next three years respectively, promising a reward of up to 60 per cent of profit after tax as dividend pay out. While adding that more than 70 percent cash was still outside of the banking system in Nigeria, he raised hopes on the possibility of the installations absorbing up to 40 per cent of cash- dependent transactions. He pointed out that Nigeria has less than 2,000 terminals, and that this initiative would see installations made in filling stations, supermarkets, hotels, shops, restaurants etc. |

I think it will take some luck to get OandO today! Proshare News and Analysis The Stock Market - 250208 Posted Tuesday, February 26, 2008 The NSE-All Share Index closed on an upswing, with a 60 basis points appreciation. After several days of hold-back, investors and speculators finally unleashed the withheld shares of AIICO. At first, bids continued to surface to mop up intermittent offers, but towards the end of the trading sessions, large quantum of offers overwhelmed the available bids, to see the stock close with a modest 1.9% appreciation. STACO enjoyed a rally, trading at maximum price for a substantial part of the session, as it bagged a 4.9% gain. Most of the other insurance stocks maintained a stable trading pattern. Reaction to the corporate action announced by Oando was instantaneous, with bids going over the 7 million mark and as expected offers also dried up. Chevron was also on bid throughout the session. Riding on the back of Oando's announcement, other stocks in the sector such as Mobil, Total, Conoil and Eternal oil booked maximum price appreciations and closed with unsatisfied demand. Marginal losses were recorded across the banking sector; a reflection of investor’s attitude towards the banking sector, as the market looks towards small cap stocks in the short term. However, Bank PHB and Unity Bank recorded modest gains of 2.9% and 2.6% respectively. Livestock Feeds enjoyed a 5% price hike for most part of the session until supplies brought down the price by mid session; however, unrelenting bids ensured it still booked the daily maximum price. ABC Transport, May & Baker, DN Meyer still remain unavailable as speculators hold on in hope of further appreciation with the lingering bull-run. Renewed entries mopped up available offers for C&I leasing, finishing with a 4.8% rise, a trend that could prevail in coming sessions. |

Etin:@Etin The weekend was nice, just got back from skiing yes O, naija man dey enjoy skiing , thanks for asking. Hope your weekend was nice too. Election craze? I am a political news junkie so it has been a fun period. Vetiva has been consistently good overall and I still recommend them. Not sure which particular post you are referringto but I will be glad to answer any questions. I spoke with them recently about people trying to open accounts and they say they have to be selective as they cannot effectively service all their accounts if they honoured every new account request. They have some mutual funds which according to them have been doing well and they would be promoting those. |

Bank PHB introduces new international money transfer product Posted Sunday, February 24, 2008 Bank PHB one of the nation’s fastest growing banks has introduced a new international money transfer product called PHB Easy Remit. The product introduced for Nigerians abroad is a complete online payment application that enables Nigerians in the United Kingdom (UK), United States of America (USA) and Canada transfer funds into designated Bank PHB accounts from their credit/debit cards and bank accounts. Olu Akanmu, Divisional Director, Retail Banking of the bank, while highlighting the advantages of the PHB Easy Remit disclosed that with the product, Nigerians abroad can conveniently and securely send money home from the comfort of their homes or offices; with multiple payment options from credit cards, debit cards or bank accounts. “Money is transferred directly into recipient’s account making it unnecessary for the recipient to physically visit the branch” Akanmu said. Apart from this, the recipients are notified of the money transferred to their accounts electronically by SMS or e-mail. “Transferred funds can be monitored online real time to see its progress from when transferred to when received” he said. The PHB Easy Remit also provides Nigerians receiving money from relations abroad a convenient and secure way of receiving such money; as the amount goes directly into their Bank PHB accounts. Akanmu further disclosed that recipients can withdraw their funds through Bank PHB Automated Teller Machines (ATMs). “It eliminates the chances of impersonation” he said. http://www.proshareng.com/myproshare/portal_news.php?id=3660 |
