Nbogu:Please for those of you who has already won the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship, how is the tuition fee for the erasmus mundus programme paid? Its not clear to me whether, the scholarship covers both the tuition and the rest (the 2000€ per year per student whose location is less than 4000km away from the host institution, 3000€ per year per student whose location is 4000 km or more away from the host institution, 1000€ per student for the installation cost and the 1000€ per month for the subsistence costs) or if you will be required to pay the tuition fee from the monthly subsistence cost. Again, I would like to know if an erasmus mundus scholar is allowed to to bring his family the the country of the programme through his student visa Lastly, are erasmus mundus scholars meant to return to Nigeria at the end of the scholarship programme? |

Does this mean a future application will attract 10 years ban? Can't I still explain in my future application that I did not intentionally conceal my pregnancy? An opportunity for work permit just came my way, although I am still waiting for the employer to provide me with certificate of sponsorship with which I will make the application. But this past refusal issue is hunting me. Is there nothing I can do to defend my self in my next application for a work permit? Please help me!!! |
I was refused under paragraph 320 (7a) in my first application. I was given limited right of appeal but a full right to request for administrative review. I did apply for the review which resulted in the following comment: ECM Comment: I have reviewed the points raised in your Administrative Review request and am willing to accept that you may not have known that you were pregnant at the start of the application process at the beginning of the year. However you would have known by the time you came to apply for your visa and I consider the fact that you are pregnant to be material to your application. The declaration you signed in section 8 of your application form requires you to inform us of any material changes or new information relevant to your application and although there may not be a specific question on the VAF relating to pregnancy I do consider that you deliberately withheld this information. In view of this I am maintaining your refusal under paragraph 320(7a) of the Immigration Rules. Not satisfied the that the applicant is a genuine student ECO Comment: The length of your course is a year during which time you intend to have a baby. It is not clear whether the University are aware of this or what arrangements you have made to enable you to complete your course. As a result I am not satisfied that you are a genuine student and refuse your application under paragraph 245 ZV (k) |
@justwise, last time I mentioned that my tier 4 visa was refused under paragraph 320 (7a) because I did not mention that I was pregnant on the application form when making the application I requested for administrative review saying that It was not asked if I was pregnant on the application form so, I did not see any reason why I should be answering questions I was not asked and that if pregnancy is a material fact to tier 4, provision should have been made for pregnancy situations on the application form. The review result came back and this is what the reviewer said: ECM Comment: I have reviewed the points raised in your Administrative Review request and am willing to accept that you may not have known that you were pregnant at the start of the application process at the beginning of the year. However you would have known by the time you came to apply for your visa and I consider the fact that you are pregnant to be material to your application. As a result I am not satisfied that you are a genuine student and refuse your application under paragraph 245 ZV (k). Please let me know what u understand about this review outcome. Does it mean that I am refused under both paragraph 320 (7a) and 245 zv (k) or that the refusal is now under paragraph 245 ZV (k) only. the reason I am asking is because I am planning to apply for a work permit but I am afraid what the outcome will be because of past refusals. Your advice counts as usual. Thanks |
penfold: This is really really sad, its more heartbreaking because this could have been avoided, I remember that we had discussed this extensively in pages 58-59 of this thread, and because of the several insightful comments and contributions, that particular application was successful, the applicant was even like 7 months pregnanat, like I said earlier, when dealing with the UKBA, honesty is always the best policy. That said, I think what you can do is to contact your school, it will help if your school has a rep in nigeria, if you have paid your full tution, that should help too, inform your school especially your course leader of the true situation of things, if they are still willing to take you and can extend your resumption date and can indicate that in their response, you should just make a fresh appllication, this time around with a covering note explaining your situation and officially informing them that you are pregnant. I dont think a review will work because in a review, you cannot include any other document, not even a note to explain anything, the review will be based on the same documents you submitted, and remember that your case would have been flagged, so if it is reviewed a thousand times, they will still be of the same opinion cuz the rules dont allow you to explain anything, meanwhile, if you make a fresh application, you will have the chance to explain yourself. Just remain prayerful!!!Dear Penfold, I think supporting evidence can be sent alongside a review request. The reason is that it was stated on the refusal later. This is what the ECO stated: Please consider carefully before requesting a review. You should not send any supporting evidence, unless specifically requested by the administrative reviewer or if you have been refused under paragraph 320(7A) or (7B) of the immigration rules. According to the ECO, our refusals were based on paragraph 320(7A). With the above explanation, do you still think that I cannot request for a review with surporting evidence? Hope to hear from you |

Can a re application be ready before 5th october? As for my schools representative, I have already contacted them, they are looking critically into it so as for them to make an effective decision. To be honest, I am so confused, I don't even know what to do. |
Charles. E:Justwise, please help me out in this case I need you now more than ever. Thanks |
Dear charles, I come to you this morning with a heavy heart. I and my spouse were unexpectedly refused to board on arrival to lagos airport on the 20th. The reason being that I told the air flight agent that I was pregnant. He did not really have problem with that because I was about 5 months pregnant, it was the British high commission representative at the airport that started making phone calls about our case. She later told us that we can not fly until we go to British High Commission to have a talk with them. We quickly went there. But the outcome was heartbreaking as our visas were revoked on the ground that I did not mention it in my application form that I was pregnant, that my course started since 13th but I intentionally did not travel till 20th therefore, I am not a genuine student and that my aim was to go and give birth in the uk and recourse to public fund not to study. Regarding my spouse, they said he did not mention in his form that his wife was pregnant. They called our offence false representation. And that our refusal was based on paragraph 320 (7A). We did not intend to do all that, we did not see any need to mention that I was pregnant as there was no question in that regards on the application forms. I feel so down. I don't know if I should request an administrative review. Again, I don't know if this will affect my future applications. Please tell me what this might mean to me now and my future travel plans. Advice me on what to do to come out of this mess. I need you and any one that can help on this forum more than ever. God bless you |
Thanks charles, I am wandering if I could state my family friends address on my landing card since I don't intend to. Live on campus. I chose to be off k because I am travelling with my spouse, couples are not allowed in my schools hostel. I plan to put up with our family friend for a few days to sort out my accommodation. Please note that my study location is in Chelmsford, not very far from london and my family friend lives in london. I hope this will not be an issue? Thanks |
Charles, thanks a lot, u are always there for me. God bless u plenty. Please, regarding paying the fund into any of my family members account, I thought I would be asked to produce my prove of fund for my fees and living expenses at the airport. Is it not going to affect me at the airport if I move the money out of my account into a family members account before travelling? Let me know if u can please. Cheers |
My people, Please, tell me what to do. I have a Master Card issued by my bank, Zenith. Can I use it in UK's ATM Machines to withdraw pounds? If yes, what are the charges involved like? I need advice on how to get my money down to the UK after I open an account in the UK. Please what is the best way to do this? Answers will be well acknowledged. Thanks |
Hello Charles, I thank Almighty God, you and every other persons that responded to my posts on this forum. Your feedbacks were all very useful. I am pleased to announce to you all that the error on my visa was corrected the next day after I laid my complain. Now I am good to go. God bless u all. Thanks |
Hello charles, I appreciate your advice, please something else just came up. I later discovered that the expiration date of my visa was wrong. Instead of 27/01/14, they wrote 27/01/2013. I have already reported this to BHC and I was told to take my passport to vfs and drop it in the drop off box that they will receive from vfs and look into it. I did that earlier today. But my worry is that I don't know whether the correction is going to take long. My school starts in september 13, 2013. I am just praying for every thing to be sorted out before Friday this week. Please let me know how the outcome will be if you have an idea of this kind of case. Cheers |
Hi charles, I can't travel with all that money. What if I withdraw like £1000 equivalent to travel with and then print out my bank statement Of the balance so that I can tender it at the airport as a prove of my fund. Would that be ok? |
Hi charles and every body that has helped in one way or the other, Just to let you know that I got my visa finally. I applied alongside my spouse for tier 4 and dependant visa on August 17 2012, and we both were granted. We were alerted for the collection today 10th. Please, I need to know what documents to have with me when travelling to London to avoid problems at the airport. If I print another bank statement, should I withdraw the money afterwards before travelling? Do I need to have all the maintenance fund with me? I need answers please. Thanks |
Hi charles, Thank you for your tension easing comment, but do you think my case worker will not see it as clear intention to deceive? Because its looking as if I lied by claiming that I pay for NHS treatment whereas I don't except that I pay for my prescription. This mistake is really giving me sleepless nights |
Hello every one, Please, is it true that any body coming to the UK must show a TB screening certificate at the airport before he or she would be allowed to cross the border? Again, can someone tell me if the processing time for tier 4 and dependant visa is more than just a tier 4 application? Lastly is it normal for one not to have gotten any response from vfs till now having made a tier 4 application since 17th August 2012? Answers to these questions will be well appreciated. Thank you |
