@ Scholastica16, how far; have you heard back from Mississippi State Uni? I received their decision on Monday, just awaiting the official letter now and hopefully funding as well. I think you should call your grad coord if you haven't because that's how I kept disturbing the Chemistry grad coord till he gave me details of when to expect a notification of their decision.

I'm a lady oh. Definitely, they know you got the info from the internet but my two cents is to have been a bit more creative and convincing with the response. As in let it come across that you actually put in effort to research indepth before you made the decision. I don't know if I'm making sense. It's all about presentation dear because really it looks like you just crammed the responses, all the best!!
gaviria:

Okay thanks sir. But what should I have said when I was asked where I got all the info from?

Greetings and pass me your passport and i20
VO: Why are you going to the US?
Me: I'm going for my masters degree in Electrical and electronics engineering at the southern Illinois university in edwardsville, and I chose this school because it's one of the best schools in the Midwestern region of the United States in Electrical Engineering according to usnews.com and forbes.com, and most of the professors in the department are Ivy League trained which is synonymous to having an Ivy League education at a cheaper rate, like professor Tim York of the department who won the 2016 IEEE award of the year for his research paper on "Polarization on image sensoring" and they also have excellent research laboratories and facilities that'll aid in the advancement of my career in this field so that when I come back to the country I can be able to put my skills to work in the power sector of the country as power is one of the major issues we're facing in the country I'd like to come back and contribute my quota to the improvement and development of the sector. (P.S: I said every word)

VO: Where did you learn about all these you just said?
Me: I went online to know more about the school because the last time I came I couldn't explain my situation very well.

I'm no visa expert but in my opinion, this your response seems like "la cram, la pour". Too much information really, it seems as though you wanted to "bamboozle" or "over-impress" the VO really.

Then at the bolded, seems a bit too forward really. I think the next time, you should be concise and stick to the questions asked. #my 2cents

What training are you interested in? Have you checked out ISPON (formerly NISP), because many acclaimed HSE training institutes give out certificates that aren't recognized. Also, I think Novelle is recommended as well but ultimately, I'd advice you to check ISPON website out.

Oh okay. Well, safe schools are relative now oh and apparently not so safe anymore cry. You'd need to have a look at as many schools as possible, then check your profile against the requirements of the school(s) and see where your reach(es) is/are. That will give you an idea of what "your safe school(s)" may be.
Joyflexxy:
Thanks for the kind gesture, but am not shying away to pay application process, its because of what is weitten on their site"admission comes with funding" and also their research concerning my major. I am also applying to Arizona state university, New Jersey institute of technology, University of Arkansas.please can you list out some safe schools for me.

I got the official offer (Tuition waiver + monthly stipends + 79% health insurance) from UNL yesterday but I'll be turning it down.

Already decided to go with Drexel and UNL's tardiness only strengthened my decision.

Didn't bring this up to make other expectant applicants feel bad. On the contrary, brought it up to show that schools are still typing and sending out admission offers so just hang in there guys, yours will reach you.

Yes, their application is free but then, it also makes the chances of getting admitted very narrow (that does not mean they don't admit). But look at it this way, because their application is free, so many people will apply and the school gets extra picky with admission spots. I applied there as well and didn't get in + I know people who had even better profiles than I did, who also applied and didn't get in. I'm guessing you're shying away from paying application fees and if so, it's not worth it. Apply to as many schools as you can and even Michigan Tech (if you may) but don't bank on Michigan Tech. All the best.

Hello gurus in the house, I have been a silent reader of this thread,i must say may God richly bless those of you contributing immensely here. I really need advice from anyone who can help. I'm a bachelor's degree holder in Biomedical Technology with a GPA of 2.96/5.i intend applying to Michigan Technological university for spring semester 2018, to study Biomedical engineering. I took GRE in 2015 and scored 279 which is very low. I intend to re-take GRE by June to boost my chances of admission and funding.i want to know if it's possible, please anyone who have an idea should kindly contribute. Thanks

Properties / Re: How To Rent A House: 5 Important Questions To Ask by Ndawe(f): 4:43pm On Apr 21, 2017
This should be number one sef. I didn't consider this an issue when looking for a house. The last place I stayed, turned out that they were owing PHCN an amount that's nearly equal to the house rent and the land lady wasn't interested. Now this debt was accumulated by the whole compound but some people got prepaid meters and those of us who didn't have, were always at the mercy of the PHCN officials. So don't over look this please.
routik:
6. What is the history of the house with NEPA/PHCN?

Find out if they are owing them and how much are they owing.

Hehe. Exactly, there's nothing average about sapiosexuals jare. I actually just typed and hit submit without thinking, that's why I thought it was just rants. Thank you and indeed it's a fascinating club and me being fascinating.......... Hehe, I can't be the judge wink
epelumi42:

The soccer stereotype... Nah. I have friends who actually have a passion for it. What's weird is that I don't follow soccer like the other average guy. lol. You sound fascinating, really, and your comment makes sense enough. So? Glad you're in the sapiosexual club...
Romance / Re: Why Most Sapiosexuals Are Single by Ndawe(f): 3:58pm On Apr 20, 2017
A lot of people feel the need to "dumb" themselves down to the very dim witted level and that's why you see so much ignorance everywhere, which is a big shame. I personally am not as "physically attractive" as far as societal standards are concerned but I've had a little luck in the dating department and people are intrigued during discussions, when I switch from current happenings to soccer to entertainment, etc. Now, as a female, I guess it's seems a bit weird that I should be interested in soccer but hey, that's another stereotype. Plus I hope I'm not the only one who's fascinated by sarcasm, I mean when someone is witty enough to respond to sarcasm with sarcasm instead of getting offended tongue ? Wow!!!!!
Lol, sorry if I'm not making any sense but I'm just so glad to see this thread sha. grin
