Education / Re: How To Achieve High Scores On The GRE by Ndawe(f): 8:24am On Jan 13, 2017
Thank you for your response. At this point, the GRE thing has me unsettled. Yes, I'm hoping to get in for fall 2017. Any suggestions?
Thanks smiley

Ndawe,
With your cgpa, you'd get into a good school here.
I have a friend with a similar GRE score doing her PhD in a good school.
Are you coming for fall 2017?
Education / Re: How To Achieve High Scores On The GRE by Ndawe(f): 12:32pm On Jan 12, 2017
Thanks dear. I appreciate your bluntness, that's the much needed kick in the behind that i needed.
Scholastica16:

Real dilemma. But I have to be blunt and ask you to look for the nearest GRE date to register. At this point, I think you should be prepared to put your speed-reading skills to work as that may be the quickest way to read through the RC passages and come up with quick answers in so short a time. As for the Q, always skip questions that you would not able to solve in 40 seconds. If you can be sure of atleast 13 answers in both sections (while guessing the others) you stand a very good chance of hitting the mid 150s in both sections.

I am saying all these because I think you need a minimum GRE score of 300 which is not the case at the moment. To avoid stories that touch please rewrite it. If it is possible to get a date 3 or 4 days away...jump at it. If you are relaxed you would easily hit 300+ even without much effort.

Thank you so much. The first one was quite low (wrote it non-challantly), considering. I had Q 150, V 148 and AWA 4.0. Though, I've identified a few schools I may apply to, but then and again, even though GRE isn't the only requirement, but it's important. That's my dilemma.
Scholastica16:

Hi,

Except you are not happy with your score I think the rewrite will be unnecessary. You have a good profile and I am sure you can "package" it well enough to convince a school to admit you. Besides, I don't think you have that much time on your side as applications for fall end in earnest in February for those looking for funding opportunities. Even though, most schools fully fund their PhD students, early submission is another advantage that could help an application (even one that otherwise would have been less competitive). So I guess the real question is, how good was your first GRE?

Hello House. I wrote the GRE sometime in 2012 and it's due to expire July this year. Is it better I just re-write, seeing that the result is far back, even though it's still valid? I want to pursue a PhD in Environmental studies (BSc Industrial Chem, First Class and MSc in Energy/Environmental Mgt, merit). Being that most funding opportunities are for fall semester, rather than spring or summer + I'm fretting about having to read for the GRE, what advice do you have for me please?
Thank you.

Alright, It depends on your intended course though. Can I suggest; that you give the test a try, now that you've been powerfully informed? What do you say?
Education / Re: How To Achieve High Scores On The GRE by Ndawe(f): 1:04pm On Nov 25, 2016
Exactly, I was very naive then and paid for it. They're so rigid; oh wow, so sorry about that and I sincerely wish you all the best. It will all be worth it in the end smiley
Scholastica16:

I am sorry you experienced that. I read about people's experiences here and even on quora.com in order to forestall such eventualities. Even at that, I made a costly mistake in my time and left my energy drink in my bag that was kept in a certain store inside the hall. They refused to let me go in to get it during the break so I ended up writing the whole 4hr 30mins test on an empty stomach.

I won't let anyone make the same mistake I made.

Thank you so ,much. I didn't even bother plus I had no proper guidance or information then, so I just let it go. I avoided any applications that'd have required me to write it again and hopefully it remains that way; this was 2012/2013. Information is power

Oh, so sorry to hear this. So, have you been able to re-schedule and write it?

No you can't. When I was to write, I went with another form of identification but wasn't allowed to write the exam. Couldn't go and get my International Passport and come back in time to still meet the exam so I had to forfeit. They're very strict on this and no grammar or form of begging would get you into the hall to sit for the exam with any other form of ID apart from your Int'l Passport.

Good morning and thank you. I did the OHSAS 18001 very recently; the company I work for just got certified in OHSAS 18001 so it became pertinent to train internal auditors to maintain the certification. We're aware that it would soon become an ISO standard and a transition training will be done subsequently, as at when due. I'll pm you my details, and hopefully something comes out of it.
I appreciate the gesture.
Thank you so much. Cheers
zeongeon:
When did you do your OSHAS 18001? you shouldn't have done it because by next year OSHAS 18001 will be phased out and would be replaced by ISO 45001. I don't mean to be negative but you should have done your research before taking the OSHAs 18001.
I tried to PM you just now but I'm unable to.

All the best any ways.

And I have a friend who is a very good auditor, I am not promising a placement from him but I can guarantee that you will learn a lot from him. if your interested PM me your name and phone number and I will connect you to him.

Remain blessed.

Jethrolite:
if you're already active then study the average it takes from when you ph to when you get an order, it should be 21 days on average. What you do is take the 30 days from ph to gh and minus 10, so every 20 days from ph you ph again because you know 10 days or so later you'll get your gh. You keep repeating the process until you're very sure of it then you start giving ph every 15 days and you'll gh twice a month. That's 60% monthly when you gh twice monthly. Now here's how to increase your money to 80% monthly. Use your link to register a person you trust won't run away with your money and execute this system in their account. So while they get 60% monthly from the system, 20% will come to you as you're their upline. Making 80% monthly.

Good day house. I just stumbled on this thread; kudos to everyone and I'm glad to be here. I am a certified Lead Auditor of ISO 14001 and currently awaiting my result of OHSAS 18001. Please do we have consultants in the house, with whom I can tag along and gain practical auditing experience (I'm not looking to be paid, your time, mentorship and the experience I'll get are far more than their weight in gold), particularly on Saturdays? I'd appreciate all the experience I can get. Please quote, PM or any other form of contact is highly appreciated.
Thank you so much.
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Apply For The UK Government's HMRC Graduate Programme - 200 Positions by Ndawe(f): 12:00pm On Oct 24, 2016
It looks like part of the requirements need you to have the right to live and work in the UK for the period of employment. It is stated there. Basically, if you aren't a citizen of the UK or don't already have a visa which permits you to work in the UK for the whole length of the program, the application won't be considered. Though we are a commonwealth country but we don't have automatic entry into the UK, as we still need visa to enter.

Nationality and immigration

The HMRC Tax Specialist Programme is open to applicants who are:

European Economic Area (EEA) nationals, including British citizens
Commonwealth citizens
Swiss nationals
In some circumstances, Turkish nationals
To apply for the Tax Specialist Programme you must already have the right to live and work in the UK throughout the period of the scheme. If your right to live and work in the UK will expire before the end of the end of the 3 year training programme you will not be eligible to apply. HMRC does not offer sponsorship to enable employment in the UK.
