As most know, I applied to 8 schools. Michigan State and Uni of Houston were my preferred destinations in that order and for obvious reasons: Michigan state was the highest rated of the schools I applied to whilst Uni of Houston posed (In my opinion) the best connections to the oil and gas industry based on its location and proximity to the oil Hub.

Oh wow, so good to read from you; I have been silently waiting for your update and even though the outcome wasn't anything you'd hoped for, yours is waiting for its grand delivery to you.

Congratulations Ma'am, way to go.
I actually saw the new Visa officers on Monday, They were five; three Caucasian males, one Caucasian female and an African American female. A very elderly and obviously senior embassy official was showing them around. I have wanted to inform the house but wasn't sure if they were Vos or new embassy staff. [/quote]
Thank you so much. Apparently they're new Visa Officers and you're right. But the guy in window 3 was just dishing out blues

Yes, we need a lot of such before the thread is flooded with Spring applicants seeking help. I have been reading through that thread you mentioned too, but exchange rates are not the same again (lol) and as you said, it's not active.

Congratulations @olarich30 and @Ndawe. Beautiful transcripts, less of traditional answers. All the best to other Fall and prospective Spring applicants.

Visa approved this morning at Walter Carrington and the process was a bit tedious, I tire to stand. Also, the Nigerian staff at the embassy are so RUDE & NASTY; I just can't deal. Anyways, I got to the embassy just before 6.30am and my appointment was for 7.30am. The biometric checks and all that pre-interview stuff took a while (see crowd ehn) and it was quite stuffy because the A.C was having issues. So I was directed to window 2 and interviewed by who seemed to be a "new guy" because his supervisor was with him and kinda giving him instructions but they were both very pleasant and we had a few laughs. Here goes:

VO: Good morning and how are you today?
Me: I'm great, thanks and yourself?
VO: I'm fine, thanks for asking; can I have your documents please?
VO: Looks through my passport & I-20 and goes "I see you're going to study in the US, where and what are you going for?"
Me: I'm going for my doctorate in Environmental Sciences with a concentration in Environmental Chemistry at Tennessee Technological University (it was a mouthful sha)
VO: What do you do?
Me: I work as a QHSE Officer (I also said this in full) at Bleep Limited.
VO: How long have you worked there?
Me: Two and a half years.
VO: Okay, so how many schools did you apply to?
Me: I applied to 4 schools and received admission into 3 with two of them being funded offers.
VO: That's great, so why Tennessee Tech?
Me: I needed a school that offered this degree as an interdisciplinary program and will have me take courses across various fields of environmental studies such as Environmental chemistry, env biology, env agriculture, env policy etc; it's a fully loaded program really. I'd also been in contact with Prof. Tammy Boles who as excited as I am to be a part of her on-going research. I was also awarded a full tuition waiver and a generous monthly stipend by the university.
VO: Oh wow, congratulations.
Me: Thanks very much
VO: So who will be funding your studies and what do your parents do?
Me: I was awarded a full tuition waiver and a generous monthly stipend by the university; it's stated in my I20 and both my parents are civil servants.
VO: Oh Okay, nice, then he types for a while and stops to inform me that they've been having network issues.

He consults with his supervisor who was behind him all the while and hands him my passport.
So the supervisor faces me:
Him: Ah, I see you applied to Tennessee Tech; my daughter applied there also (at this point I knew it was sealed, signed and waiting to be delivered grin
Me: Oh really, that's nice. So I also engaged him in a conversation about his daughter and he asked me about my previous studies in the UK and we chatted for about 3 mins while waiting for their network to come back up.
Him: Brings out white paper and circles and says the sweet words grin "your visa has been approved". Have a lovely time in Tennessee and he returns my documents.

I noticed a few things which are not different from what others have been saying here:
1)Please practice and practice but DON'T CRAM. A couple of peeps gave very rehearsed responses, you didn't need to be a VO sef to know.
2)Make sure your facts are straight and go with the mindset that you're going to have a "nice chat" with the VO (they're humans)
3)Those hustlers can sell water to a well. You don't need them, prepare your documents from home and pay no attention to them.
4)Be in your own zone and don't let the plenty blue papers flying around distabillize you because it can, trust me.
5)Please study past transcripts here.
5)God rewards hardwork.

Oludare01; See you soon grin grin

Good morning my good people. Please I need an urgent help from anyone who recently filled the Ds160. I have completed the form but only work history was asked. No information for education or training. So I don't know if it's the new style. I don't want to submit and later encounter problem at the embassy. Please help!!!
I just filled mine and there was no column for previous studies. It's just where you've worked/are working now and the degree you're going to the states for. So don't panic wink

Guys good afternoon.
Thanks to the person who told me how to check for my passport online if I was sure it wasn't returned to me.
I confirmed through the online check from the site that my visa is still at the Embassy/consulate. Pls how do I get it now or I should just wait till they mail or call me?
I sent a mail already since Saturday and don't have a response yet.

PS: I was the one that was denied visa but my passport was not handed back to me.
Hoping to reapply as soon as I retrieve the passport.
Call their customer care line and have your passport number handy before placing the call, they're usually very helpful and will attend to your issues immediately. My own issue was resolved immediately on the phone yesterday. Here's their number: 014406218

Hi everyone, If Sevis is paid through western union quick pay, how long does it take to reflect in the embassy. I mean let's say I pay Sevis fee today, what is the earliest day I can go for interview. Thank.
It takes 2 business days to reflect. Then 10-11th were somewhat available to book, then after that, the next available date is 21st, to help with your decision.

Loool, we're very paranoid; he paid mine. Ahah, he's no stranger to this forum plus I hope he'd still want to help you seeing as you put him out there like this. Putting his full name here is wrong, because he gave you his details doesn't mean you should put it up here like that. He didn't collect an extra dime from me and he was under no obligation to. Even if you wanted to inquire about his integrity, there are better ways to have done this.
