A N10 stock can be very expensive, while a N1000 can be ridiculously cheap Your points are valid though. There is nothing I'll talk now that others have not said on Oando. But Oando reminds me of MRS @ N12 about 4 years ago, when I was carelessly looking at it. Then, MRS was making losses in their financial statements back to back. All of a sudden MRS returned to profitability and reached N110 within a year. All the losses, negative retained earnings etc of Oando can be wiped off within a year with the way the company is going. This is my personal opinion though. |

yMcy56: More of positive news, improvement performances q-on-q, dividends, international interests as well.
I'm seriously looking for another stock that can perform this type of stunts in a period of short time as well.......
Maybe Oando can do this we don't know yet.....but still watching.....🙊 The possibility of Oando selling 5 times its current market price (CMP) in the next one year is 75%. An upstream oil company selling for less than N20 to me is a steal and I am seated permanently in it waiting for the next one year. The fact that Wale was perceived as a cowboy doesn't mean that he can never change his way to return Oando back to those good old days when Oando was paying dividend of N3, infact he will be super proud to do that. Wale has over 4.7 billion units of Oando amounting to N75b at CMP. If Oando should appreciate 5 times in price, that means Wale's worth in Oando alone will amount to N376bn. Don't you think Wale will prefer to be as rich in Oando just like Ovia is rich in Zenith? |

I went through their Q1 report and saw that the company has already relinquished their Lagos and Abuja office building to BOI and First Bank in settlement of debt. It is not everything that we put on God, atimes we need to do our research and made investment decision especially when the door is still wide open. |

BabsO2: Or its the trading on JSE reopening today that is causing the pull back (likely not, just a coincidence).
Or perhaps there are big/small funds fed up with OANDO management and determined to exit at different price points like N12, N13, N16, N20, N50 etc. And those with shaky/moving price targets. They create the supply volumes that come up when new bullish funds push past these prices. Till results are all green, this back and forth should be expected. The past antecedents of Oando does not matter to me now. What matters is that they have returned to profit. And most importantly trading at a PE of just over 2 in the oil and gas sector. |

Deadlytruth: The problem with you is belief in unsubstantiated generalizations. If you knew that this platform is dedicated to stock business, then what inspired you in the first place to start comparing Obasanjo's government with the others here? Is this a platform for telling which government is better or worse than the other or which stock is better than the other? Being clever by half is not a virtue. When a platform is said to be dedicated strictly to a particular topic, you let it actually remain so. Thank you very much my good friend. So, you are still on this topic. I have since move on. Kindly move on too and have a nice day. |

Deadlytruth: So Obasanjo lies against himself each time he says that Boko Haram started during his administration but that he left them to have a field day because they didn't disturb his government? It seems you know Obasanjo more than he knows himself? Are you aware that till today Obasanjo is sympathetic to Boko Haram? You never heard he once visited Boko Haram national headquarters, apologized to them for his successors' offensive against them, and offered them a cash gift of up to N1m over which the members there present had a sharing disagreement and one of them was shot dead by the others?
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.vanguardngr.com/2011/09/boko-haram-visit-obasanjos-host-shot-dead/amp/
Please be informed that what we now know as Fulani Herdsmen and Bandits are all disguised forms of Boko Haram which Obasanjo acknowledges began in his time. Also note that unknown gunmen and IPOB are offshoots of MASSOB another Obasanjo legacy. How come Yaradua solved Niger Delta militancy yet it outlived his tenure?
Debt forgiveness which Obasanjo got is not same as debt repayment. Had Obasanjo actually repaid our debts, then you could call it an achievement.
The coming of Mobile telecommunication had its beginning in the Abacha administration.
Could you be specific about the integrated power plants Obasanjo invested in? Your theory that power sector challenges could have been addressed by a situation of every successive government utilizing 35% of funds and stealing the 65% balance is a veiled rationalization of abuse of office. Why then is Obasanjo walking free of EFCC harassment while governors who spend even more than 35% of budgeted funds in the respective state ministries and looting the rest are on EFCC's trail? I may not know the problems you have with obasanjo though, that his name sound like a poison to you. He lives in Otta, so you can take your grievances to his doorstep please. I don't have energy to waste on Obasanjo's issue. Data don't lie. Ask yourself this questions: how many people were killed by boko haram/other insurgencies during obasanjo's era? close to none. What is the debt burden of Nigeria when Obasanjo left the government? Around 2.5 billion dollars, compared to over 80 billion dollars now. As for telecommunication, how many Nigerians were using mobile telecommunication during the Abacha government you quoted (not up to 0.3% of the population) and how many of the service provider do we have in Nigeria then? None. All I know is that obasanjo left a good economy more than all the other governments we have had since then (Beside Yar'Adua government). As for the power plants, you can view the link below: https://punchng.com/obasanjos-8bn-power-plants-helping-nigeria-minister/https://nairametrics.com/2023/03/27/list-of-independent-power-plants-operating-in-nigeria/I rest my case on this issue. This platform is for stock related and not Obasanjo/politics. Enjoy your weekend. |

Deadlytruth: By the bolded, you are guilty of the very attitude of not speaking out which you seem to see in others. I can't believe that there are still people with the perception that these problems were not there during the time of Obasanjo which was the time they all actually started and Obasanjo ignored all of it in pursuit of political capital.
Obasanjo himself has confessed several times in the public that this insecurity started in his regime and that he left those behind it to continue because they didn't disturb his government. If not Obasanjo, who on earth can ever argue that insecurity of any stage is not a disturbance to his government. I have always said it that Nigeria's problem is not the political class as assumed but the quest for political correctness among the citizens. The only security challenge during obasanjo's era was militancy in the Niger Delta which Yar'Adua government was able to curb. For the records, there was nothing like boko haram, bandits, frequent herdsmen attack, unknown gunmen, IPOB etc during his era. In addition, Obasanjo ensured that the country was almost debt free before leaving the government. Progress in the telecommunication industry we are now enjoying was through his government. Though his government mismanaged about 65% of funds invested in electricity, but we can still see the remaining 35% that was invested in integrated power plants all over the country. If other successive government have been stealing same 65% and investing same 35% in electricity, Nigeria's power problem would have been solved by now. Note: I am not an obasanjo fan o. I am simply saying it the way I see it. |

KayOn1: If you know those that are responsible, please tell me o. We have a long way to go.
All we are asking from the Government of the day is sort out the security issues and power and leave the rest for Diaspora Nigerians. 75% or more are ready to head home.
** I don't think that is asking for too much. Thanks for the bolded. The problem with the country is that the citizens are not united as one to speak the evil bedeviling the nation. The moment you speak out, another will quickly interpret it to mean political, religious or ethnic bias against the government. Gradually, almost all the companies established by foreigners are leaving the country due to economic or security reasons, while most local manufacturers and SME have close shop or are on the verge of closing. Even our local farmers can no longer go to their farms safely, when you speak out some will say you are bias against the country. All these problems were not there when Obasanjo was in government. The problem started around 2010 and got worse with successive governments. If we continue like this, one day our economy will take a nosedive to where we don't expect it. |

ositadima1: Sometimes I don't really understand it. What is poor treatment? If a company employs you and you feel you are not paid enough or the conditions are not suitable, why don't you leave the place or start making efforts to leave? You will still be in the same establishment complaining every year. I see that all the time.
I'm sure OkumuOil did not get those lands for free; they invested in the lands and took huge risks to see the company to where it is today. And you, some lazy, jobless youths, want to tap into that just because your fathers gave birth to you in that locale. The entitlement mentality I see in some people is nauseating. The development in Okomu oil is not a good one and underscores the fragility of investment in Nigeria. The government needs to urgently take drastic steps to curb the spate of insecurity or else most of the existing companies will pack their load and leave us with our problem. It is the same thing that is causing food inflation in the country because farmers mostly in the north can no longer go to their farm safely. |

OBAGADAFFI: Amidst controversial N140 billion purchase, NNPC halts takeover of OVH
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has said it is unable to complete the acquisition of OVH Energy Marketing Limited‘s downstream assets.
The declaration is contained in a letter dated 17 January, addressed to the chief executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) and signed by the managing director of NNPC Retail Limited, Huub Stokman.
The letter is titled, ‘Notification of inability to complete OVH Energy Marketing Limited terminal, plants and depot takeover and intent to apply for operating licenses’.
The NNPC Ltd had in its latest financial statements said it paid cash amounting to $325.09 million (N140.559 billion) for the acquisition of Oando-branded retail stations and a reception jetty in Apapa, among other facilities. Belated news. |
