Politics / Re: ₦150 Billion Airbus A330 Presidential Jet Lands At Abuja Airport - SR by nedekid: 6:56am On Aug 19 |
Tokskob2008:Yeah, it's a big aircraft too, similar in size or exceeding a 787 dreamliner more like a Boing 777. Do people even understand this is a 400+ seater plane? Like the type you fly abroad on air France, Qatar, british Airways, air peace etc? I read just yesterday on this forum, we are seeking $500m world bank loan to fund education, we clearly do not need the loan as we can afford it. The countries contributing the loan probably do not have such aircrafts for their presidents. Imagine your neighbour that drives a 2024 landcruiser worth 250m asking you for 20m loan to pay his children's school fees, meanwhile you yourself drive a 2015 landcruiser worth 80m. 6 Likes |

LeopardX:Sometimes when it comes comes to judicial issue in naija, you just cut your loss and run. Those that are serious due to the magnitude of funds decide to seek restitution abroad due to the fact that they put the clause in their agreement that disputes will be arbitrated in a neutral place Eg UK. So when it cannot be sorted out locally, they then go to UK courts. If utomi had done that and gotten judgement over there, same story with the aircrafts will be happening. |

Politics / Re: It Will Take PhD Holder 85 Years To Buy ₦160M Jeep Bought For SSCE Senators: Obi by nedekid: 1:26am On Aug 17 |
I read a guy's comment this evening talking of tesler car and how his 18 year old nephew just bought one brand new. An Australian. I commented on how lucky they were to have such economy a teen could buy such. Meanwhile our people here will sit and defend leaders, people that have ruined their future and continue to impoverish them. It is truly amazing. 2 years ago I sat by the car park of a hotel having a drink while going through Nairaland, some fellow on this forum was spewing the usual crap, a young man from his profile. I just shook my head, why? In front of me was a chap and his friend I had got speaking with. 20 year old. My attention was his car, a golf gti. A type I had never seen. Latest model, brand new, 4 exhaust pipes at the back. Starting the engine alone shook the ground. At 20 years of age. Almost, I would have taken a picture to post and show that idiot Nairaland boy his folly. At 22, that UK boy may have his first house and wife with kid, by 25, two kids with now a bigger house, building his wealth through mortgage. Meanwhile naija guy even at 35-40 may not have become financially strong enough to settle down comfortably. 1 Like |

happney65:It works on all platforms and places. Also not in my location, the closest branch to me is at Allen. I have only been there once to activate my patinuim card delivered by mail. I think the regular card my kids use has a limit of either 300 or $700 monthly limit for only online payments. But my platinuim card has both online and external use (if I remember right) with $3000 monthly limit. Free access to executive lounge at mm1, mm2 and others, discount on others abroad. 2 Likes |

ActiveFarms:Is it every land that will be used for farming? Is it every soil that is even good enough for productive planting? So because of farm other industries should take a back seat. Bros, those that will farm will buy farm land and farm, those that will buy land for base stations, factories, estates, churches will do so. |

Politics / Re: Chinese Firm Moves To Seize Nigerian Assets In US, UK, Canada, 5 Other Countries by nedekid: 5:27pm On Aug 16 |
Mubiola360:Abegi leave all these conspiracy talk. Most multinationals comming to do big business in any country will have agreements in which they chose a different country with reliable judiciary for arbitration incase there is dispute. Ogun State would have signed the agreement documents. Eg Ghana seeking foreign investments in their cement industry, then invites dangote to partner with them. The government says they will provide land, tax breaks etc while dangote invests Eg $1b to build the factory using his personal money and even taking loans to finance it. Of course it will help the Ghana economy. To protect his investments, and Ghana to protect their interest, they chose UK courts for arbitration incase of any breach of contract. If Eg after dangote blows his money building the place, Ghana sees he is making money and decided to nationize the factory, taking it from him. Obviously no court in ghana will side with him, they may even threaten him with harm. So he goes for arbitration in the UK as stipulated in the agreement. He is awarded money. He then gets court order to seize Ghana assets in UK. He takes the court judgement to USA, France, Nigeria, China etc ie anywhere he sees Ghana assets and gets court order to seize the asset so Ghana will be forced to pay him or he gets court order to sell and get his money. That is what is happening in this case with ogun/Nigeria and the Chinese company. |

Politics / Re: US Court Affirms Chinese Firm’s $70m Arbitration Award Against Nigeria by nedekid: 12:39pm On Aug 16 |
LibertyRep:See, I watched a video of cosmas maduka of coscaris motors when in 2004 he wanted to supply 1000 BMW for coja games. Fgn was meant to give a bank guarantee. But okonjo iwela refused to approve Nigeria giving that guarantee because she said all the guarantees giving by Nigeria to companies had all been called up! Ie international bank guarantee that if the business goes south, Nigeria will pay. All went south and Nigeria had to pay! Can you see naija folks are criminally minded? It is possible Nigeria gave some kind of guarantee for this ogun project and as it failed, they involved fgn. But that seems not to be the case. I think after arbitration, Ogun did not pay. The company now went to court and involved the fgn as a party to the case, but fgn did not come to challenge that within the stipulated period for appeal, in which case, judgement was passed. Eg a creditor says you are owning him money. He then takes you to court and the add your name and father's name join as defendants. During court seating the father does not turn up, either he was not served (not likely as they will have evidence of service) or ignored the service. Judgement is now given, even the 3 month to file appeal, daddy does not show. It is during execution of the judgement daddy now comes out to be protesting when they seize his car, house and jets. Lol |
