4years awaiting trial for an offense with maximum jail term of 3 months. It's a shame of our judicial process
Guy, our judicial process in in shambles. One should just try by all means possible to avoid wahala. As it is said, turn the other cheek if slapped. Do you know a senior legal officer told me all the traveling by oga, seeking investors is all crap, as no genuine investor will put his money where the judiciary is flawed? Where he cannot get justice to protect his investmemts. Me personally did litigation, got favorable, judgement after 8 years of spending money. Guess what? Till today I never sniff the money due to the same judiciary, meanwhile devaluation has useless it. From money that could have bought a 2bed flat in Kent, now cannot buy a brand new corolla.

SmartPolician:
I don't want to believe that ladies' obsession with court marriages is to get 50% of their husbands' assets. This is the same thing that destroyed marriage institutions in the west. And Nigerian ladies with yahoo mindsets have been its biggest beneficiaries in the west.
That of naija ladies is not channeled towards divorce, but rather in event of death. To ensure they are secured to inherit asset without disturbance from family members.
The downside is that knowing it is through the demise of their partners they can inherit, poisoning and other means will be rampant, especially in a our society where autopsy is hardly done.
There was a part of the east back then where you had lots of rich widows. Legend had it they kpai their husbands at a certain stage of sucess.

Politics / Re: Future Of Nigerians Mortgaged By Tinubu, Family – Atiku by nedekid: 7:01pm On Aug 22
gudugudumeje:
Of all people, Atiku for that matter... This is someone who sold the future, up today's of Nigerian youths in 2004 in the fraudulent sales of 250 public enterprises - fraudulent privatisation exercise then in cahoots with Obasanjo - what were supposed to give jobs and future career to the youths. The proceeds of which he took to Dubai, UAE to relocate.

Of this fraudulent sales at rock-bottom and give away prices to his local and foreign cronies, he collected real prices to finance his contest to possess Nigeria(ns) from the ruse..
You think those guys did anything? Anyway, in the 8 years obj them were there, the naira against the dollar was no more than N80-100 to $1. In the 8 years of buhari, despite how terrible it was, he moved it from 200 to 700 to a dollar.
Now this current fellow in less than 6 months took it from 700 to 1600!
If that does not tell you something is massively wrong, nothing else will. This is currently a case of massive plundering on a scale never seen before.

Wailing of an election loser.
Imagine what you are saying? Is it that you do not understand the implication of all atiku said irrespective of his loss in the last elections? Do you not understand that with the level of greed, acquisition of wealth, the future of Nigerians is being mortgaged? Why do you think eg local refinaries are having difficulties working, that NNPC refinaries, dangote etc are being frustrated all for importation, to the extent a gov official will come out to say we must keep importing while de marketing Dangote refinary.
Shebi you see how that Chinese company is seizing Nigeria aircrafts because of breach of contract, that is how when a new administration comes in and discovers all the magomago oga has done for benefit of his family, and decides to cancel it, his children will go to court abroad and get judgement against Nigeria, why?, they would have signed magomago contract agreement with the companies baba has interest and handed over Nigeria to. Ie Nigeria will be mortgaged for eg 50 years or ever to one family. Shebi coastal road has been given to babas paddy, in which his son is one of the directors. $10B contract for road we cannot afford now.

FreeStuffsNG:
These goods and services have been subsidized for years and it's unfortunate that those charged with giving the subsidies failed to realize that it was not sustainable.

Now that debt was no longer available to keep subsidizing the welfarist system, government needs to gradually phase out the subsidies to allow market forces determine the prices and overtime the price will eventually fall to an equilibrium without any subsidy thereby making our economy less inefficient.

Nigerians in the long run will be better for it. Now people have learnt not to waste electricity unlike before.

May God bless Nigeria for ever!

Nothing like that. This is pure business. They could not get justice in naija, so they arbitrated abroad and won, simple.
What we should be doing is to do things the right way to avoid such.
Eg, the coastal Highway. This was allegedly done on a paddy paddy arrangement. No bid etc. A right hand man to oga at the top. Even ogas son is on the board of the company. People have heard, yet kept silent. Over $10b contract allegedly with no bid. A project naija cannot afford now. Obviously the current organisers will sign a paddy paddy agreement with with the contractor, putting Nigeria at a disadvantage incase a new government takes over and decides to cancel the road contract. Eg, if it is cancelled, arbitration will take place in France, if Nigeria cancels they will pay 100% of the contract as penalty. Naija officials will sign knowing their egunje is protected in any eventuality.

That is the Chinese company's plan. They can only embarrass Nigeria but they cannot seize any of the assets as they are sovereign assets, not commercial ones.
They cannot seize? What have they done so far? Why can't the planes be flown home? Oga, they have taken possession of those assets, they it's either you bail your assets or after some time they will sell them off.

OK, the economy is booming, Nigeria is low on debt, taxes are low, the naira keeps appreciating, our gdp normina and par capita is increasing, the cost of food has decreased, Nigerians have full stomachs, industries are booming, manufacturing, multinationals, investors are all trooping in. Education, healthcare is fantastic.
This administration has worked wonders turning the country from 5 world to 1st.

Full size airliner that seats 400 people. Same size BA, Turkish, air peace, American Airlines etc use to fly into and out of naija. Ofcourse, we could not buy such aircraft to setup a national carrier, rather we use it to shamelessly visit other countries as presidential aircraft. That is the aircraft type air france uses to fly passangers to naija. No be juju be dat!

The airplane was always breaking down and needed to be changed, which other explanation do you need?! undecided
That is no explanation. Planes do not work like that. An aircraft that does all the checks is certified as brand new. Ie a D check. That is why you see 50 year old aircrafts still flying. The US airforce one fleet is close to 40 years old. Trumps personal jet airliner, B757 is 33years old.
If you say the NAF presidential aircraft is too small, less efficient, or the cost of retrofitting the interior decor does not make sense due to its value, then maybe some water could be held there.
This same bbj we are selling, someone else will buy it and use for many years as a new aircraft just as we are buying a 14 year old and considering it new aircraft.

My American friend wondered why as a crude exporter we were importing petroleum products. I told him we had poor refining capacity, but that a large refinary was being built.
Today the refinary has been built, we are now an importer of crude oil. No be juju be dat?
We told people nothing good can come out from this set of people they refused, how will the highest beneficiary of importation through coded ownership of oil companies allow his money spinner to end? DeLaRue:
It is not a personal property.

Future President's will use it.

A Nigerian President needs to be able to fly in a plane owned by Nigeria as and when needed.

People who say the prime ministers of some countries in Europe use commercial planes. Yes, but those countries airports and airlines are very well connected to other countries.

Nigeria airlines don't fly to many countries. I think Airpeace only flies to the UK.

So, what if Nigeria's President needs to travel to France, USA, Brazil etc? He should fly Air France, or United Airlines? What if those airlines are not available on the day he needs to fly?

Because the price of beans and garri is high, Nigeria should not buy an aeroplane? I disagree.

The Nigerian government can do both - buy the plane and continue to work to make life easier for citizens.
Do you even understand that this is an airliner? The type that BA, virgin Atlantic, airpeace uses to fly 400 passangers at once? Not a private jet size aircraft but a full size airliner only oil shieks, presidents of such countries like China, India, USA, Japan etc use.
Is this justified with the current level of poverty imposed on Nigerians?
