Firstly, remember you are on ñairaland where people pour out their entire anger to relieve themselves.
Many don't care to know the history of this project.
Former governor oshiomole built some of these streetlights, modeled after what is obtainable in Lagos state.

Governor Obaseki discovered it was a cesspool of corruption as many of the streetlights were either damaged or not being powered as at when due, while some corrupt politicians and civil servants were getting the allocation diverted to their accounts.

The governor decided to discontinue funding these projects as it was becoming a drain in the state coffers.

Instead, the governor decided to embark on building the Oshiomo power plant, sponsored by Edo state government and other investors.
This power plant is responsible for powering all the 200km route around Benin city, thereby saving the state huge costs that the bureaucratic fat cats were feeding off.

Presently, the whole Benin city is been litted through the night, helping to bring back Nightlife and business now thrives irrespective of time of the day.

In two or three years time, the entire Benin city street would be centrally litted.

These are important sources of revenue but strategically, they should try to get a company like Ethiopian Airlines to invest in the airport as a partner.

Ethiopian which already operates in Enugu could utilise the airport for cargo and run selected international flights to and from Anambra. For example since ET flies three times a week out of Enugu it could shift one flight a week for a start to gauge demand.

However, the Anambra State government has to do more to attract foreign investors. Awka is a mess with keke everywhere and trash on the roads. They need to clean up awka so that it would have same attraction as Enugu.
