Sometimes you show glimpses of brilliance, and atimes Case in point is the sentence in bold! You mean the rank and file of Tea Partiers are glued to the TV set staking their political fortune on whether or not the daughter (not even the mama herself) wins DWTS? Honestly, I don't know whether to take you seriously or to simply see this as a not so funny attempt at humor. I reserve my judgement for now.
Tayo,

I am grateful for your feedback. I like honest and bold talk like you just gave. smiley

It is too simplistic and naive. . . I want to say juvenile, to imagine, like you said, that "the rank and file of Tea Partiers are glued to the TV set staking their political fortune on whether or not the daughter (not even the mama herself) wins DWTS?"

We do not live in a world of normal reality anymore. . . . . the reality we live in now is plastic. A synthetic theatre of make-believe. Do you disagree?

The consequence of dismissing Sarah Palin and the breadth of her circle of influence has given us an undesirable outcome with the last mid term election. Would you disagree with this as well?

The incoming House of Reps, in full force of Tea Party members, will undo many of the social programs that we all know are necessary to promote social equity. Would you disagree?
Foreign AffairsRe: In Pursuit Of Bristol Palin And Her Momma by NegroNtns(op): 7:09pm On Nov 22, 2010
Well, I'm glad you clarified your point of dissent.  First let me say it is advisable to be familiar with a poster's issue and point of view before you critic his/her opinion here.  I see now that you are asking for reasons after you already disposed it as nonsense.

I said earlier in another post that I dont watch DWTS and I only did so because it has a political significance since Palin is there.  To illustrate for you the political tie I will use an example.

Suppose you and a couple of other people have a social event, drinking and eating suya, and Seun walks in there. . . .it is still a social event.  Few minutes later, I walk in there. . . . . it is a social event.  About 30mins afterward, Palin walks in there. . . . . . .  you no longer have a social event, you are now in a political event.

It is the way American politics go.  This post is an analysis and interpretation of American politics in the sense that if this was not Bristol Palin, Brandy would still be in the competition for finals.  True, DWTS is a joke. . . . but the personality of the contestant has a political value that cannot be ignored, particularly considering the recent success of the Tea Party in the electoral process.

I actually like Sarah Palin.  I like Obama too.  The success of Bristol in DWTS has an incremental effect on the grassroot perception of politicking.

Cassius Clay was not aware what significant role he would play in making Nation of Islam a household name when he changed his name to Mohammed Ali and then knocked out a White man.  The NOI became synonymous with White man's defeat.  The lesson of the story is, political landscape can be transformed by unseemingly relevant event sometimes.  We cannot let down the guard if President Obama's re-election in 2012 is important to us. Boycot of DWTS by those promising to do so has a future imapct on 12 election.

I didnt expect your mind to be that deep or to have the vision to contemplate possibilities. Republicans love voters like you - people rooted in the now. . . .not to be bothered how a proposed legislation could impact their interests.

More power to you my friend! You stay in your now and let me prowl in my future. Do you mind?

The Presidential election of 2012 will be held on Tuesday, November 6th, ninety weeks from now. Result of the mid-term election held just two and a half weeks ago brought with it a mix of indicators or “leads” for what to expect in 2012.

Looking back to 2008 election, Black people projected that we were anti-Bush and, in concordance with the rest of the nation, needed change. So we supported the candidate who in our judgment was most competent, given his credentials, to make change happen. The result showed that Obama’s victory rode piggy back on massive turnout of Black voters. It was lost on everyone however that up until Iowa primary Blacks nationwide had dismissed him as illegitimate and it was White majority who embraced him early on and validated his candidacy and legitimacy for the rest of us to turn around. So in retrospect, our acceptance and support for Obama was conditionally sentimental and not at all a logical impulse in respect of his competency or credentials. Now, it is reasonable and convincing to believe Whites may have responded to him solely on that one account though.

I am yet to see Blacks, in any recent election in this country, vote along logical inputs. Instead, we vote with our emotions. Our approach to grievance is to “boycott”. So it is, after just two years of record turnout and passionate support for Obama that we are boycotting elections to register our displeasure with national events. We failed to reason at the prospects of a winning sweep by Republicans and what it would translate to in our future, nationally and locally.

Just this week in the Dancing With The Stars (DWTS) competition Brandy, our choice and favorite, was voted off the show and to share our displeasure at the irregularities we flooded media channels with our determination, to do what. . . . . . boycott the finals! I know what the other side would do it had been Bristol booted off like that. They would rally support to increase the number of viewers at the finals and instruct that Brandy must not win, period.
This raises a question. Is competition really about merits? We have seen the performances and there is no doubt Bristol is off-tune in all the categories and should never have made it even to top five, but here we are one step away from it all and she could be crowned the winner. Black America, instead of pondering what that win would translate to politically for her mother and her party and devising a quick way to prevent it, we decided that the best way to present this grievance is to boycott. But back to my question, is competition in America anymore about the merits? Did the elected official win because he/she has true and proven leadership skills or is there a political arsenal pushing from behind the scene to tip the balance favorably and in disregard of earned merits?

I forgot who but I think it is Bawomolo who correctly observed, shortly before the mid-terms, that even with their majority and legislative successes peaked against Republican liabilities, the Democrats were having a difficult time getting support in the political town’s squares. Republicans dominate the square because they have a grounded understanding of how to operate a political machine from behind the curtains and away from sight. Democrats on the other hand continue to think that an elected official is necessarily a politician. No, wrong! A politician will succeed in elected office but an elected official on the other hand cannot operate political machines successfully. The two roles require two distinct temperaments. To highlight what I mean here consider the following politicians –

Karl Rove, Newt Gingrich, Dick Cheney, Ronald Reagan for the Republicans. Bill Clinton, James Carville, John F Kennedy and Richard Daley for the Democrats.

Now, consider the following non-politicians but elected officials and relate their temperaments with those above and you will instantly understand my point. Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford and George Bush junior for Republicans. Jimmy Carter, John Kerry, Barack Obama for the Democrats.

President Obama should have been reinforced with Clinton, Carville and Daley running the air waves and the town squares against Palin, Rove, Cheney.

Anyway, we have 90 weeks to 2012 election and if we are interested in re-electing this man then we must not allow our displeasure of national events - and there will be plenty of those – to divert our focus or rouse us to any boycott of any kind. We can still deny Bristol the crown. . . . all Black vote for her rival. This will do more than defeat her, it will deflate Tea Party and their Republican sponsors.

But this is just Negro's view. . . das all!

Foreign AffairsGerrymandering - Redistricting - Is Coming In 2011. by NegroNtns(op): 7:55pm On Nov 18, 2010
The apportioned number of members in the House of Reps will increase next year. It is currently at 435. Each state - there are 50 - is apportioned a minimum of 1 member. This means 385 seats are distributed amongst the 50 states in an equity formula based on the 2000 national census.

The 2010 census will raise the number from 385 and there are two or three factors that will primarily affect what state get what.

1. cross-emigration from economically adversed states.
2. incentives-driven immigration to economically viable regions
3. mid-term tea-party/republican victories in state executives and legislatures.

The Federal Government will give each state the number of House members allocated it but the state is totally responsible for determining the districts and constituents the representation will come from.

So definitely in those states where the 3 factor is true, we can expect a redrawing of electoral districts.

This is huge considering that it also plays directly into the Presidential election, via electoral college! There are several states with double digit number of representatives and they are - California (53), New York, Texas (32), (29), Florida (25), Illinois and Pennsylvania (19 each), Ohio (18), Michigan (15), New Jersey, Georgia and North Carolina (13 each), Virginia (11) and Massachusetts (10).

Now, to forecast how this will affect 2012 elections, consider which state is impacted which of the three factors. Some of them like Michigan is impacted by 1 and 3.

To those who would like President Obama to win a second term, now is the time to start your home work and push the grassroot hard against a politically favorable victory for the Repubs in 2012.

Palin will be watching Russia through her window in 2012. She is setting herself up for the final comedy.
. . . Oh my God! shocked Is that not what American politics is - a comic platform? How else would you describe Rangel walking out, non-challantly, of house hearings on his corruptions? Hold on,. . . . do we have any tea bagger here in NL? I hear silence! grin

Lastly, you need to expand your televisional categories dude there are some fantastic voodoo sci-fi science series on FOX, fun cooking-competition shows on FoodNetwork, Law & order SVU on NBC, Animations such as the Simpsons and comedies like Everybody Hates Chris and Bernie Mac on Nickledeon. Save CNN, MSN and Fox for trash time jor . . . you'll live longer and happier. Ignorance sometimes is really bliss jor
I used to dear. . . until they started reality shows on TV. grin So I took my reality and bunked it!
Foreign AffairsTea Leaves Divination . . . . . . . .for Palin-2012 by NegroNtns(op): 4:39pm On Nov 12, 2010
I only watch three categories of programming on tv; (1) Politics, (2) History and (3) Sports. Anything else is a distraction!

So if you catch me watching Dancing With The Stars. . . . .I'm either interested in its political twist or the cultural perspective of the dance category or the kinetics of the moves. I don't watch DWTS for its ratings or to see celebrities or perhaps to have a conversation tale for the office break room gathering.

Matter of fact, I only recently started watching after learning Bristol Palin was on it. Now, that's some political twist if ever there was one!

I am predicting that Bristol will win this competition or be in the top three finalists. Whatever the outcome may be. . . . .it underscores the surging power and influence of a new grassroot movement - The Tea Party Movement.
Her continued participation is due to their swelling support and it promises to sustain itself.

America is obsessed with heroism. Sarah was an enchanting princess when she first came on the scene as running mate on the Republican ticket two years ago. With mixed media reception and constant badging from the liberals she was labeled and marketed as a dangerous prospect for the white house under any role of public service. But the broad success of her political sponsorships and endorsements is creating a new definition for her and helping to overcome the opinions of critics who say she is dumb and unintelligent. Increasingly, everything she touches is turning to gold and Americans are taking a second look at this new heroine.

If Bristol pulls through to the top three in her competition you can bet your a-s-s her mother's popularity and credibility will shoot up and it is not unlikely that her ambition for the white house will receive a warm applause and supporting endorsements across America.

. . . . . but let's wait and see how DWTS end - it could spell as PALIN FOR 2012!
Foreign AffairsRe: Mystery Missile Launch Seen Off California Coast - Whats This All About ? by NegroNtns(m): 4:14pm On Nov 12, 2010
Unknown missile launch? In the USA? Highly improbable that they (US intelligence and forces) do not know about it.
. . . . . grin I like the response!

Traditionally, Pentagon conducts its strategic exercises far away from public view. If it is a sealed program, only the Commander-In-Chief and a handful of selected top military brass - serving and retired - ever are aware of it. Their inputs influence whether the program advance and become a tactical exercise or killed at the preliminary stage.

When Pentagon takes its missile launch into the public view, then the intent is not for a military domination but rather for a political propaganda.

The question is who is that propaganda aimed at? cool
CultureRe: A Resurgence Of Life . . . .the Yoruba Footprint In History And Art. by NegroNtns(op): 9:21pm On Nov 04, 2010
. . . well, I appreciate that wink

but you know since this topic was not opened for religion I cannot go into detail on your line of thought, however let me go back to the three ages of Adam consciousness and give clarity to your thought.

In Obatala, it occurs as a primal event - at the origin of man. Adam's life spanned three ages of human conscience.

1. As a resident in Eden - a state of infinity
2. As a resident outside of Eden - in a state of finite limitations or constraints
3. As a learner in the wilderness of the cosmos - a state of transformation.

Obatala, as a planetary deity, coincided with the stage of life constraints.
Look at 2 and 3. . . . Obatala is the custodian of 2 but Esu is the custodian of 3. The two act in unison. . .

Obatala has an opening or a womb, an outlet to give man prosperity. Because man emanated as an EGO in Eden, it becomes increasingly difficult for him to submit willingly and has to be forced through constraints and limitations to learn that he is but a finite being. . . limited.

This is where Esu comes in. Esu uses paradoxical lessons (dualities) to discipline man in his own incapacities and through that man learns wisdom. If he becomes successful in these lessons and learns to subdue his EGO, then his spirit is re-awakened (transform and rebirth) to a pseudo-Eden state of consciousness. The reward for that is the opening of that womb (prosperity) in Obatala's custody.

The 2 stage is ruled by number 7.
The 3 stage is ruled by number 40.

send me an email we can do sidebar talk on these stuff.

The word is rooted in aTHLaY - an old Hebrew word. It means constringent or to put limitation on something.

In Obatala, it occurs as a primal event - at the origin of man. Adam's life spanned three ages of human conscience.

1. As a resident in Eden - a state of infinity
2. As a resident outside of Eden - in a state of finite limitations or constraints

Atlantis as a myth coincided with the consciousness of man in an ocean of primordial being.

The first civilization to navigate the seas were the Pheonicians - Canaanites. They were the original cartographers and invented various ways for calculating bearings and the zenith as well as astronomy. These people were AFRO-ASIATICS and influenced cultures around the Meditarrenean as well as Egypt, Babylon and all in that area. Their Biblical root is Hamitic. All of Hamitic people have knowledge close to the origin of nature and are thus more inclined to practice secret cults. In these practices they often introduce heretics into the worship of GOD. GOD in turn punish their acts of disobedience and scatters them around to dedimate their power and influence over mankind.

IFA came out of the same land and was a pure religion of mankind until it was thus corrupted with heretics. Every Prophet in the monotheistic religion has travelled through this land of Cannan and every one of them that went through there has also sojourned in Egypt for safety. While Canaan is a hot bed. . . .Egypt is a refuge!

IFA, The Obelisk in Ile-Ife, Atala, Osugbo, Yemoja. . . .all of Yoruba deities and devotional worship came from these two lands. Even Orisa Ibeji. . .the mystery of twin births!

Atlantis, Atlas, Atala, . . . . all came from the first Navigators of the seas - the Canaans.

If any one challenge the claim, then come up with the meaning of Atala in Yoruba.

The above has to be the best paragraph I have seen on a post on Nairaland in a very long while. Thanks.
Thank You!

Any idea what sort of time we are talking about here regarding emigration from Havillah? When Ife was established, were Yoruba's advanced enough to have writings? In the decades and centuries that followed, did they manage to document the true stories? Surely the "pure" truth has been passed down, otherwise what purpose did the cults serve?
Great question!

I do not have a time frame but I suspect it had to be after Judaism was already established and before Christianity had spread. This time will coincide with when the children of Israel returned from the Babylonian exile.

Yes, Yoruba had writings. When I was growing up I used to wonder at the symbols and writings on indigo ties - Adire. Any culture that had symbolic arts had a means of communication. Now did Yoruba had writing? Yes, they did. Much of the history and the customs were in oral form but there existed written records of official events and diplomatic alliances between kingdoms. The alphabets that we have today - A, B, D, E, F, G, GB. . . .etc. . . - are transliteration of accents and sounding words rendered in English letters. Sallam Alaikum is a transliteration of an Arabic language rendered in English letters to convey the accent and sound. We may have to look into articles of heirloom such as ancient adire clothings passed down generations to recollect the full text and symbols.

I am fed up with people having to refer to the Bible and the Quran. We know that these books mostly contain, at best, only half truths.
I cannot talk to the religious perspective because I actually opened this post on a political ground but it got moved to culture. It is running parallel with another post. Now, if we were discussing religion, I have an answer for your view. . . . .

Every great nation in the past and today and into the future will use the Bible and the Quran as the historical marker to burrow into the sand of humanity for their place. We cannot be an exception. I know I'm focusing on the Yorubas but the same applies to Igbo and Hausa. . . . . their history is in the Bible, they just need to find it.

Agreed there are things reserved only for the initiated, encoded in the arts, etc. But something as basic as "where are we from" ought to be "in public domain". No? I want my kids to know the truth, not the cock and bull, obviously fabricated nonsense that they are told in Social Studies classes in elementary schoool.
The only people who can counter that textbook bu-ll s-h-i-t is people like you asking the right question and creating, in the public domain, building blocks of information based on their discoveries. That's what I do. The information we discover and relay may need fine tuning as time goes on and our children make their own discoveries and add to the blocks. . . .but if it never gets started, however rudimentary it is in the beginning, then there will be no block for them to learn from or to add to. . . .and they continue in that circular orb of BS!

There are other people. . . cowards, with genteel tolerance. . . needing to create an image of educated minds and in that attempt they beat down on the building blocks. They have no alternative blocks or view because their minds are not conditioned to examine and reflect inward, or to envision. . . .they were educated to defend the textbook bu-ll s-h-i-t so that our children and our future will continue in its cycle of servitude. . . .copying, imitating but never originating an authentic African concept and independence of thought. One of these types is here as you can see. He has gone on google and wiki and since the info is not there he concludes if it was true that Obatala was linked with Atlantis, then the white man would have said so. White man never said so, the info had to be a falsehood. How many of Homer's stories are indeed true? Homer himself was nothing but a myth. . . but yet it is a curriculum read in Western academia. . . and I'm sure this coward debo never questioned the authenticity of Illiad. I have no doubt he read Shakespeare and I wonder if he ever questioned the fables for authenticity. Makes one wonder if certain Africans ought to be educated. . .

I particularly like your theory of how the elements resulted in a "heriditary stamp" on the races. I have long held this view and was once slaughtered on a public forum (not Nairaland) for daring to air such an opinion.
I am not surprised at all. . . . you were dealing with defenders of textbook bu-ll s-h-i-t! They are afraid to deviate from whitey and embrace African accounts. grin

what are your views on the question of ancient oman and yoruba history. Is there any link or is it all mere conjecture.

i happened to come across a legend of a dynasty called yaaruba or Yoruba in medieval oman, but the trail always runs cold. I remember an old history book i read while young which mentioned oman as a possible source of some yoruba migration.
Tpia, Oman is in Southern Arabia and in ancient times the entire area was called Havilah. The Monarchies of Saudi Arabia, Oman, Yemen, UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar all claim ancestry from Qahtan.

In the age where European philosophy and image is the standard bearer for humanity. . . . there is no desire out there whatsoever to associate any link, however true and factual, to an African philosophy. So the materials online will not give you a good and traceable connection dotting the limb to the root. But I want to assure you that Jewish scholars, Arab scholars, European scholars know who the Yorubas are. Have you used JSTOR before? You may have to subscribe to access it, its a library and contains some info that will shock you.

In 1850, a King in Lagos fought against British Navy invasion to defend Lagos and sank their assault ship and killed a number of sailors including the Captain of the ship. This info will never get online because it promotes the greatness and superiority of a people British Empire labeled uncivilized and barbaric. This is just example for you on how the facts of history are sometimes tweaked or completely hidden to shape impression. We cannot stand still and be an observer if we intend to achieve our own greatness. The world will not give us access. . . we have to grab it!

On the Oman connection. . . there is a people in Ethiopia called the Oramiyas. They were in the same branch with Yoruba in the Yemeni/Abyssinia emigration.

I wasn't that fortunate, I was raised on the Quran and Arabic and Torah. But since becoming adult I have educated myself on the Bible and and other books of divinity. debo, it willprofit you to sometimes put your logic to side and use inner light. All ofa sudden everyone now thinks anything they can't find in google and wiki must be false. How did you verify information before these tool aids? What I'm giving is information. . . . you have to take it the way you find convenient for your mind. If you can't digest it does not mean no one else can.

There is more to hstory than just links and references, . . .

The scriptures, the paintings, the artifacts, the secret doctrines and the mythologies; the deeds of kings, priests and heroes; the literatures of the poets and the scribes; the praise songs of the griots and the drummers. . . . . all of these records become the identity, the soul, the pride and the living blood of a nation.

It's like an optical arrangement - looking back in the mirror their past is recounted. It can also be a telescope - looking ahead through the lenses their future is magnified.

The arrangement must be carefully handled and it is imperative that it be done with precise focus otherwise the image of a people is inverted, resulting in a distorted and confused interpretation of their history and vision. . . .everything the've ever stood for or ever hope to become turned upside down! A once magnified throne of nobles, now a squatter waiting in line hoelessly for a promised aid that will never materialize.

Do you posess inner understanding at all? I just talked about how the Binis are changing Yoruba history, and we are silent but when one of us calling ourselves Yoruba rise up to the challenge you are always outthere with your self-proclaimed intelligence and reasonng trying to prove your worth.

What are you really worth to the Yoruba conscience? You don't impress at all. . . .maybe to the rivals you do! Fool!

Continuing on. from topic. . . .

From the settlemetn of the spiritual center in Ile Ife, the Yorubas formed a political kingdom with its capital in Gobir and was called OYO.  There was gradual downward push Southward, terminated by the coastal line.  The first ruling dynasty was set up in Ife, with Oduduwa as first King and thereafter created the Seven states.  The political structure of a Seven-state Empire was an imported knowledge. The seven states are Sabe, Popo, Ila-Orangun, Bini, Ketu, Oyo and Owu.

Bini and Oyo were spurned off as individual Kingdoms later in history.

He is not picking on people. . . debo is preoccupied with settling scores. . . past and long forfotten scores if I may say. I have noticed this in him.

He asked me for evidence and I wanted to know what evidence would satisfy him so we can fix the goalpost. . . but his response back was pre-emptive and calculating so that's why I said to him to make what he wants out of what I have written.

Normally when people ask me for proof I tell 'em to f-u-c-k off. . . .but I never tell debo that, but since he lacks wisdom enough to tell the difference in my approach I may have to bare my hands for him to see.

Debo, what does Atala in Yoruba mean and what is its symbol? You tell me that and I will show you the proof. The proof is in the staff of Obatala itself.
