I wish to open this topic by first introducing my idea for the assignment. I call it an assignment because I fully acknowledge that each one of us, regardless of background and upbringing are divinely gifted with certain innate abilities. These abilities are individual and under the proper stimulations they are awakened into full capabilities in the individual. We can personify states and cultures and races as individual entities posessing these same characteristics.


Our capabilities vary but they can narrowly be classified into four primary areas of engagement and inner drive -

1. passionate drive for social co-mingling and survival (The Socialite)
2. practical drive for purposeful outcomes and progress (The Executioner)
3. emotional drive for life sustenance and support (The Nurturer)
4. mental drive for communicating understanding and awakening (The Reformer)

Each is equally necessary and important for propagating the interests of a society and what it stands for. A state of balance is maintained when all four are brought together and employed in the needs of a people, so that their survival, their alliances, their values and traditions remain compatible with their divine philosophies.

In an internet age where these energies ought to be very evident in reinforcing who we are, instead our identity is increasingly being defined sub-par to the interests of those who challenge the superiority of our civilization.

I have done a lot of research in tracing the YORUBA culture, the people, the civilization, the language and particularly the Biblical footprints.

In assessment of our capabilities, Yorubas have failed three out of the four capabilities - we are good at the Socialite aspect and very seasoned in Political manipulations. . .this is our forte! We have not contributed much to our own progress, have abandoned our means of sustenance and failed to invest in a new understanding for our future and renewal.

So you can accept this assignment as an awakening of sort, . . .a direct knock in your conscience provoking you to review your roots and to re-plant your feet firmly for a resurgence into the future. There is no unity in Nigeria, stop fooling yourself that the country will survive its internal turmoil and give you the sense of pride and identity that your spirit yearns. Your own homeland is where pride and identity lays.

So I begin. . . .

We start from two commonly used terms in Yorubaland. OMO LUABI and OMO KATA.

What do these two phrases mean?

I started in my earlier post to relate the Moses/Pharaoh confrontation when the former's staff became a serpent and swallowed the illusions created by the latter's preists but I figured Pastor was sure to mention it so I did not.  

That miracle itself was a plague. . . .it was the lead-in to all the other pestilences that went into Egypt.

When the spiritual Ori is afflicted, the individual is plagued with all kind of losses.    

There is a lesson in this and it is well narrated in several Odus in Ifa.  When the spiritual Ori and the temporal Ori are in conflict, the individual need divination.  Divination will identify where the incompatibility is emanating from and guide on the appropriate corrective step to take to reinstate balance and harmony.  


When we discuss these topics I suggest that we attach or associate the practical lesson or its application to life so people are not only acquiring knowledge but are also gaining wisdom through their own individual encounter and circumstance.

The human head has both a spiritual and a temporal aspect. In its spiritual aspect it attains to infinity but in its temporal existence it is definite.

The snake has both a spiritual and a temporal symbolism. In the spiritual it is called "serpent" and in the temporal it is named "snake".

The serpernt is a companion to the infinite human head. . . . .it agitates the head to self-confrontation.
The snake is a companion to the definite human head. . . . .it agitates that head against other heads in the temporal dimension.

The snake is also the symbol of healing. But healing itself is a depiction of balance or homeostasis in the physical (temporal) sense. This is when the body is in a state of physical survival. What is the depiction of healing in a spiritual sense?

Spiritual balance occurs when the two heads, the infinite and the definite, are congruent and harmonic. . . when the action of one is not counter to the path that the other has taken.

I wish to contribute that there are other animals that have similar symbolism but do not approach that of the snake. They are Bull, Eagle, Ram. . . .and so on.

Stop arguing on miracles. Even in times of Jesus when he gave them miracles after miracles, unbelievers still doubted his teachings and persecuted him. Mankind wants to worship miracle, not GOD. Smart entrepreneurs have discovered this and are profiting from it by using miracle results for salvation and healing to sell their falsehood.

Move on with your messages and ignore those asking you for miracles in the Quran. If they rejected it from Bible what makes you think they will accept it in Quran?

To the extent that the story of Adam in the bible does not tally with anything said about orunmila in yoruba religion, I would say that Adam cannot be Orunmila.

You are correct that the city is no longer in existence but while it existed, where was it located? Look up ERIDU, a city that was in the Akkadian territory of old and would today be placed in about Iran or Iraq.

I think when it comes to welfare our expectations for forthrightness is misplaced. America, from its beginnings, is a country of entitlement. . . beginning with land grab. It is no crime when the grab is done by people that look and share ancestry with the founders. It becomes an issue and a thorn on their side only when outsiders discover the trick and join in.

This is first few paragraphs of the US Declaration of Independence.

Many Nigerians, if asked to weigh in, would support adopting a wholesale restructure of our Government after the US model. The knowledge most of us have, and which is the reason for support, is truly attributable to the human element of American citizenry – which is clearly embodied in the declaration papers. We are devoid of deep understanding and appreciation of procedural core elements of the American government itself. The citizens are generous, above average accommodating, spirited and are very industrious. Equally they love to entertain and party. They express intheir lifestyles the ideals of freedom, liberty,and pursuit of happiness. But these ideals are not without its struggles. This new problem is addressed by another document called the Bill of Rights – an amendment to the Constitution.

The Constitution itself contains articles which provide the framework and give statutory power for the establishment of government. The articles are written in plain language but often there is division on the interpretation – since the original intent of the drafters is called into question for practical application. In this sense they are said to have “implied” as well as “enumerated” meanings or powers. They can also be applied “narrowly” or “broadly”, depending on the circumstance at hand. The articles of constitution does not guarantee to the citizens those ideals of liberties and rights that the decalaration promised. Hence the need for the amendments – which is the guarantor of rights and protection, in other words. . . . The Bill of Rights draws line in the sand demarcating where the authority and power of the government begins and where it ends, especially when it is a dispute over encroachment on the citizen's right to freedom, liberty, pursuit of happiness.

This amendment has not totally fixed the problem and neither has it satisfactorily secured the citizen’s faith in the promise of the government to respect and stay within its boundary of power. This is illustrative of the immense power granted to the government by those articles in the constitution. It is a constant and ongoing battle between the government and its citizen, each side trying to erode away the power and reach of the other while at same time forcing its own will to expand and grab more powers. The citizens therefore are less likely to cede their rights to gun ownership and will protect it vehemently and passionately in comparison to other rights that they may likely yield to the government on. They see gun ownership as the balance to government encroachment. . . a deterrence so to speak. Without their guns, life, liberty and pursuit of happiness will have no meaning. The American democracy is bulging at the seams but it has been kept together primarily because of this one attribute of the citizen’s clamor for gun ownership. Citizens guns is what has kept America from despotism. It is unlawful to own gun in Nigeria – unless under extraneous situation and in which is subjected to monitoring. Now, with this knowledge, how many of us would still want to adopt the American democracy for our country? How many of us would replace the despotism we have now with a despotism imported from America?

Let’s stretch this democratic structure further. Here are some concepts that have shaped American foreign policy in the past 10years.

2001-2008 Bush and the Neo-Cons

America will demand and deliver, unilaterally or in alliance, through the use of political and economic – and in certain instances military – instruments of coercion to shepherd, restructure and control the socio-economic and geo-political landscape of non-industrialized nations after its own model of democracy.

2009-2012 Obama and the Socialists

America, through dialogue and demonstration of altruistic openness – including transparency in its policies – will in the long term strike a cord of response in which the global community will recognize this act of goodwill and reciprocate with their own high ideals. This interchange will be packaged with long lasting security alliances and co-ownership of the social order. The race for geo-political dominance will cease, cultural values will be less prejudicial and the noble identity of humankind will be based on virtues and not on privileged circumstances or a false sense of superiority.

Each of these policies portray primarily the party platform and has existed, in one fashion or another, with same vision for centuries. Neither one of these visions is suitable for our country. What we have is not the best. . . but before we start inviting the worse, let us see how we can fix the bad.
