Good day all, who knows when the embassy is closing for the year? Is it today as well? |
Travel › Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by Neile: 6:42pm On Dec 14, 2020 |
Sorry for the delay and stress. I had the same issue although mine was for a work visa. I submitted in March and received my visa in November after sending several emails/pleas to directorgeneral@dha.gov.za. I got this email on this platform. The person kept forwarding my email to some colleagues until I received a message from VFS that my passport was ready for collection. duketiana: Hello house,
Greetings.
Please I need your help and suggestions. I applied for SA student visa in March before the lockdown and this is the 10th month. I've not heard from the embassy. I've asked VFS to verify what the issue could be and they can't say Jack.
My worry is that my passport will be expiring in March. Could that be the reason they are not working on my application cos people are obviously getting their visas that I know of.
Should I cancel my application and go for passport renewal, then I can make a fresh submission in Abuja cos Lagos office can't be reached.
It's sad that Abuja office could not help me contact Lagos office to know the cause of the delay.
My friend that went to Abuja in October to submit for student visa has been given. You can see how Lagos office is frustrating her people.
I hope to hear from you guys. If you have emails or working phone numbers of the embassy kindly share please.
Thank you all Tiana |

BA / BS Announcing the arrival of my daughter. EDD - 24/06 DoB - 16/06 via ELCS Birth weight - 3.03kg She was conceived via IVF as I had a blocked Fallopian tube and PCOS. Also has 2 subserous fibroids. The pregnancy was relatively easy. I only was at the hospital on account of pain from the fibroid twice when they were moving. The CS procédure went very well. I had a very positive experience and great recovery - already walking around with minimal pain. Still getting a hang of breastfeeding but taking my time. In all baby and mum are doing superb while daddy is elated.
I wish my other June team mates and every expecting person here a successful delivery.
@4realwoman please take note BS dropped. |

Sorry I am just responding. The doctor said they will remove them if they obstruct the baby but because of the risk of bleeding, they won’t touch them if they are not in the way. Glolite: Good day mama. I’m also in your shoes but am 29weeks. Did the doctors say they will be removed during CS? Cos the matron who once attended to me said so and I don’t know how feasible that is. |

I have 2 fibroids which caused me some pain and discomfort as they grew with the baby. I checked into the emergency twice when the pain was unbearable and was giving stronger pain relief injections. Outside that, i was prescribed Diclofenac which I probably took 3 or 4 times. I am 35 weeks now. My doctor has said because of the fibroids, I will need to have CS which has been scheduled to happen in a few weeks. So your wife should be fine. Lyoncrescent: Please do you have their contact phone number so I can call for more details and is there any consultant you can recommend in the hospital. My wife has fibroid and I want to know if there's any of their specialists that manage it. Thanks |

Well for me their service has been okay. Are you paying out of pocket or using insurance? Because of my insurance, I can get a lot of things done like request scan multiple times and get seen quite quickly. I do like my doctor who is quite thorough although I make sure I ask all the questions and he doesn’t rush me. I also get to speak to the nurses on other topics people in general hospitals are taught. So far it’s not been bad. Opsycal: Hello, I was at Lagoon Hospital Ikoyi earlier this week and the Dr said I should come and start my antenatal in few weeks time. How has it been with the hospital? Just trying to know more about their services, as I have read some not so good reviews. |

In the hospital I use (Lagoon hospital Ikoyi), your husband is not needed. My husband doesn’t live in Nigeria and hasn’t been to the country this year. Yet I registered in December and have been attending my antenatal alone and I am 35 weeks gone. Sometimes he joins by video call when I am talking to the doctor or performing a scan but that is if he is free. Although, I see couples attend antenatal together but it’s not compulsory. SHIMOK101: Good evening wonderful Mamas. Please permit me to invade your privacy. My wife is 20 weeks gone. The problem is that she is yet to start her antenatal due to the pandemic. Secondly, she has been using pregnacare max but recently she complains that it's making her to throw up any time she takes it. Has anyone had such experience with pregnacare max before? I'm scared because I don't want her to experience any difficulty. Lastly, she insists that I must accompany her to the hospital to register for antenatal if not she will not go. She said it's compulsory that we must go together if not, she won't be attended to and because of my busy schedule, I'm not seeing myself following her anytime soon. Those in Lagos, how true is that? Is it true that we must go together to the hospital before she will be attended to? |

Hi. I was only asked how long I would be staying which was 5 days and the officer said “enjoy your stay ma’am”. I was actually in the US to meet my Ob/Gyn and had all my health insurance documents but I wasn’t asked at all. At 23 weeks and no intention made to hide it (by wearing my jacket for instance), there was no mistaking that I was pregnant. I guess being a frequent traveler (Visited the US twice through EWR in 4 months and travel every other month to different countries) helped as in recent times I never get any serious questions. I hope this helps. zellawaya: Hi there Neile, May I inquire what types of questions you were asked at the Port of entry? What documentation did you have? I'm quite concerned being pregnant (not too far gone) if I would have a hard time. Thanks. |

Yes they do. I flew to the US last week using Ethiopian airlines at 23 weeks and used fit to fly from Lagoon hospital. Be sure to have photocopies with you as they request for copies. Shallypop: Hi mamas. Pls I registered at a private hospital and about to travel next week. Does airlines accept private hospital fit to fly? Though, I'm not heading to Canada. Thanks |

vinoj0225: Thought I was the only one that added this much before getting to 12 weeks. Now I'm reducing eating since I don't feel nauseous anymore. Hope I'm doing the right thing coz DH keeps telling me to eat. Don't want to be fatter than I am ooo. Thank God I am not alone. I had to employ a dietician to work with me to ensure I am eating the right food in the right quantity. We start on Monday. Worried I might add 25kg at the end of this journey. |

I was the one who gave feedback on my dropbox experience. I also got married after my previous visa was issued and had a new passport due to a change of name and I was still issued a visa via dropbox. Again, this may be because I didn't use the previous visa and I travel frequently. My previous visa was also stamped "cancelled without prejudice". Zika01: Pls was your previous visa cancelled? Just picked up my passport after 3 months of waiting and noticed my previous visa which is already expired was “cancelled without prejudice” |
Travel › Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Neile: 12:33pm On Aug 17, 2019 |
Just to provide feedback on my dropbox experience. I initially submitted my passport for dropbox on the 9th of May (just before it was cancelled). However, I had to retrieve my passport on 31st May to make 2 trips to Europe in June and July. When I returned at the end of July, I sent an email to the embassy asking what I should do. I immediately got a response to resubmit my passport which I did on July 30. I received a mail on August 14 to pick up my passport which I did yesterday and my visa was issued. Seems my retrieval and trips helped accelerate my visa issuance. I also did not use my last US visa in the 2 years (my last US trip was 3 years ago) despite traveling at least 4 times every year. |

I have never posted on nairaland but I got useful tips from this thread as I prepared for my US visa interview. I had been rejected in 2010 and then I was 24 years old, had a virgin passport, only travelled to Ghana, was earning about 150k and had only been working for about a year and a half. So, I attended my interview yesterday in Lagos and it was done before I knew it and approved. I actually wasn't ready as I didn't know the numbers were called at random. I was called just about 20 minutes after I had my biometrics done. This is how my interview went:
VO: Good morning, please give me a minute... (then he's typing and typing and typing) VO: I am sorry.. Good morning Me: Good morning (with a smile) VO: What are you going to do in the US? Me: Vacation VO: Why New York? Me: It has the attractions I want to see VO: Give me examples Me: Staten Island, Ground Zero of the WTC, Statue of Liberty, Wall Street, etc VO: Cool.. How long do you plan to stay? Me: 11 days VO: That seems like your usual duration (or something like that, he was looking at my passport) Me: Yes, I love short trips VO: Where and when was your last trip? Me: Italy, at easter VO: Which other countries have you visited? Me: France, Germany, The Netherlands, UK VO: Why do you have the "denied visa" stamp in your passport? (showing me) Me: It was an official trip and my office in Spain did not send a letter to the embassy VO: Ok. Where do you work? Me: Bleep VO: For how long? Me: Over 5 years VO: Who is your biggest client? Cracks a joke saying "Me" Me: I smile saying "Nope" and mentioned a client VO: For real, how long have you had the contract? Me: A little over 2 years VO: You married? Me: No but engaged (and flashed my ring) VO: Oh congratulations. When is the wedding? Me: April next year VO: Oh cool, what does your fiancee do? Me: He is an engineer VO: Where does he work? Me: Bleep (a top oil company) VO: Oh cool, will you be seeking medical treatment? Me: Nope VO: But for the eid you should have your visa on Monday but it could be ready on Friday but for the holiday tomorrow. Your visa is approved. Enjoy your vacation. Me: Thank you |
