Do you guys know even multi national oil companies in Nigeria are part of the oil theft/bunkering -- and some have actually been indicted before?
Should we continue to allow such leakages unchecked because some 'indian buyers' (be wary) and their shippers prefer the old ways whereby they can 'collabo' to sabotage Nigeria?
Whence the system is purged and stable, serious countries will patronize us -- even in other non-oil sectors!
It is tough on everybody. Personally, my businesses in Nigeria are affected -- good things come with a price -- hopefully in time we get it right, 'cause it's tough as it is. Is crude oil still being stolen , yes or no ? In this modern age, people applauds result not intimidation. |

Politics › Human Right Groups Condemn Arrest Of Amosun’s Critic, Ojo by neocortex(op): 12:37pm On Sep 29, 2015 |
The Campaign Organisation of the Ogun State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka (GNICO) and Centre for Media Rights Advocates (CMRA) have condemned the arrest and detention of an Abuja-based blogger, Emmanuel Ojo, by the police, in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, at the weekend, on instruction of Governor Ibikunle Amosun. Ojo was said to have been arrested by the Chief Security Officer of the governor, who led some security agencies attached to Amosun, at Ibara, Abeokuta and was detained at Ibara police station, few meters away from the Government House. Isiaka, who spoke through the Director of Publicity of his campaign organisation, Comrade Ifekayode Akinbode, said Ojo was arrested for a story exposing the alleged quizzing of Mrs, Olufunso Amosun, in London, for money laundering. The story was said to have been posted by a foreign-based blogger and pasted on Ojo’s Facebook wall by hackers suspected to be working with the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, with intention to implicate Ojo. Ojo had since denied knowledge of the story and made it known to the public that his Facebook wall was hacked by his detractors, who were working to silence him because of his hard stance on Amosun. In the story, Mrs Amsoun, who has since denied the story, was alleged of being detained by London police for being in possession of US300, 000. Akinbode said that since the day the story was found on Ojo’s Facebook walls, he had been haunted by Amosun thugs, who were working in conjunction with police attached to the Government House. He said, “It is unbecoming of Amosun, who has been intolerant of opposition and critics to go after Ojo and frustrate all efforts to secure his bail, since Saturday. We know Ojo as a critic of the prolifigacy and bad governance going on in Ogun State, and it is sad to note that Amsoun would think nobody will criticise and make public his various lies. If Ojo’s Facebook was hacked and the story of how Amsoun’s wife was arrested for money laundering in London was pasted there and the government has denied it, why must Amosun’s Chief Security Officer still go after Ojo, harass his wife and got him arrested. “The attempt is to silence his critics and send fears to journalists in the state to stop reporting anti-Amosun stories. But he has failed! Nobody in Ogun State needed to be told the story of inflated projects that have increased the state debt profile to over N200 billion. It is a common knowledge in Nigeria that Amosun is among the richest governors in Nigeria that refused to make public his asset declaration despite the fact that his self-acclaimed mentor, President Muhammadu Buhari, has declared his assets. It is a common knowledge that Amsoun is building the best personal house in Ogun State that costs over N7 billion at Ibara Housing Estate, in Abeokuta, and we know his salary since he became governor in 2011. “It is also laughable that Amosun who blackmailed his predecessor in office, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, to the extent of using photoshop to superimpose Daniel’s head on Nollywood actor’s body, to give false impression about Daniel, could go ahead to arrest a blogger over a harmless story his boys planted on Ojo’s Facebook walls to implicate him. But we want to assure Amosun that instead of being cowed, this is just the beginning of exposing many under-hand dealings many did not know about his government,” Akinbode said. In its own reaction, CMRA demanded for the immediate release of Ojo and warned the police that they would be held responsible if anything happened to Ojo. The Executive Director of the organisation, Dr. Bidemi Adegbite, condemned the gestapo approach of Amosun’s Chief Security Officer in arresting Ojo, who the police should have invited for questioning.CMRA warned the police against being used by the politicians to infringe on the rights of Nigerians from freely expressing themselves.source : http://dailytimes.com.ng/isiaka-right-groups-condemn-arrest-amosuns-critic-ojo/ |

You cannot just be flinging damaging, unsubstantiated allegations against somebody and then hide behind the principle of free speech. I hope an example is made of this fella so other prats with uncouth mouth will watch themselves You must be an ill-educated fellow to reason this way, Free speech is absolute, anyone who thinks his/her character is being impugned should approach the court not using Police/Army to torture innocent bloggers who believe in transparency. |

FatIjeomaOkolie: This is a step in the right direction!
Just because the use of the internet is now virtually free does not mean jobless people can sit in their bedrooms and make up all sorts of stories because they want to direct traffic to their useless blogs.
Nigerians want accountability from their leaders but refuse to do the same in their own affairs.
Just the other day, a notorious illiterate on Nairaland opened a thread falsely accusing the APC of closing his Facebook accounts. In my opinion, he should have been invited by the security agents to provide evidence of his claim.
Freedom of speech is guaranteed by the constitution but also, individuals have to account for their statements if they are false.
Now, a precedent has been set. Hungry bloggers- BEWARE! I am sure if the story is about GEJ or PDP , you will sing "guilty as accused" as you and your cohorts used to. Police should free this innocent blogger, he is doing Nigeria a good favour by exposing fraud. Freedom of speech is a fundamental human right. |

MightySparrow: Fine be a vanguard to your Kins to stop harassing people and plan a strategy to put somebody in Aso Rock. I am a. Yoruba person (and proudly that); we find ourselves in this country by divine design, though it is a marriage of strange bed fellows. We cannot easily change that. For Yorubas to lose foremost persons like MKO, Kudirat Abiola, Olu Onagoruwa, Bola Ige etc and some agitators (living or dead) like Femi Falana, Gani Fawhinmi, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, Awolowo etc struggling to make Yorubas gain relevance in Nigeria politics is not a joke. So, some over zealous Igbo youths write nonsense here to harass people. Better strategy with patience will yield a desirable answer soon. Very soon. Long live Ndigbo. What you just wrote up there is the mindset of a slave who is hoping he will one day be emancipated. Fela once said you can't dash somebody his right, how can you be suffering and be hoping that one day someone out there will pity you ? Those who don't put their destiny into their own hands always end up where they don't want. I have checked the history of successful countries, none of them rely on external factors to take them there. |
