nagoma: The Igbos can never provide honest leadership wherever they find themselves. Their rise fr ok primitive culture to civilization with no natural development is commendable but it denied them the sense of social mutual existene and code of ethics. They will always cheat. Ihejirika is only 2 years in that position but his Igbo genes are telling him that he must fill all th positions with Igbos. The same with the immigration lady Who wanted to convert the Nigerian immigration service into Biafran immigration service. All the other Igbo people in position behave in the same way. Those who are not in position will courier drugs and kidnap other people- anything illegal and antisocial they are there. This army scandal is affecting all other non Igbo Nigerians not just the north. When you read the details you will see that more yorubas are adversely affected by this ihejirika's nepotism. They can shout , they can scream, but we must get to the bottom of it. If the country is to be divided so be it and let's do it in peace. South for SOUTHERNERS and north for NORTHERNERS . It is a continuation of their Jan 1966 plans.
Question 1.) Please tell me which tribe has provided Honest leadership till date............

Virgin Finder: That was why OBJ ensured by all means that a non-Igbo emerged as Yar'Adua's VP in 2007.
The rest is history.

We all know you Igbos more than you know yourselves.

The presidency of Nigeria will remain forever remain off-limits for the Igbos as long as we run this winner-takes-all, doomed-to-fail federal system of govt in this country.

For now,you Igbos can enjoy all the top positions jor.
There is the necessary check in place(the president). No wahala.

Igbo kwenu!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If this is what other tribes have reduced Igbos to then itz high time the Igbos break away from Nigeria,,, But the thing is that they will want to drag the Niger-delta away with them.... I think they are the only tribes after the North afraid of standing alone without oil money though they will never admit it

PointB: After going through this thread, I smile and at the same time very worried.

I smiled when I realized that many people can see through the scheme of our Northern brother to keep all of us down south in perpetual slavery; I smile when I saw how determined we are that these will never be allowed to be. Not again!

But I am worried because the people we are dealing with are capable of brain-washing miscreants and thugs into carrying out their diabolic scheme, as some pay little premium on human lives in the North. We have seen this cycle of violence many times in the past. We have not forgotten the pogrom of the 60s, and we certainly have not forgotten how recently our brethren sent to the North as corpers were murdered not only cold blood, but also in broad daylight. Boko Haram still dwell with us, as we speak. I fear that without caution history may repeat itself again.

I urge my fellow southerner, especially those from the old Eastern Region, include our fair complexioned beautiful Edo women and handsome Edo men. Be alert; be very alert. If/when the come for Igbos, I bet they will also come for you. Let those in these category, who have any reason to reside in the North live in pairs. While one sleep the other watches. Keep a dagger or gun beside your bed; check it before you sleep. If they come for you, do not panic, just ensure you don't go down like a lamb to the slaughter house. Nigeria belong to all of us; we must tolerate one another or we must separate. The era of cheap killing, and cold blooded massacre certainly must come to an end. Now is the time to enforce peace!!

naptu2: Chime that you mentioned is not an average Nigerian. He is one of the elite. The elite have started shifted base after the West decided to crack down on them (witness Alamesiegha, Ibori, etc).

Nigerians have always been going to China, India, etc, but can you compare the number of Nigerians who aspire to go to India with the number of (average) Nigerians who aspire to go to the UK?
A trip to the Indian Embassy will give you an answer, Bros The Tide is Gradually shifting

Yardua didnt look towards the west infact he ignored the UN summit at a point to go to Saudi Arabia but there was never a time the G8 planned to probe him for corruption. The simple truth is that jonathan's administration is more corrupt than any in the history of Nigeria !
Since time immemorial Itz always the Current administration that is always labelled the most corrupt, During Babagida regime people said Corruption was at itz peak, Abacha came in and Broke Babagida's record, Abdulsalam did not have enough time to rewrite the history of corruption then Baba came in and every-body said they have not seen Corruption of this Propotion..... Yaradua was too sick but his wife Turai gave a magnificent account of her self............... Now Itz GEJ turn and G8 Nations dey cry out from Obodo Oyibo............ I judge the G8 Nations as Toothless Barking Dogs in this Scenerio
PoliticsRe: G8 Leaders To Discuss Nigeria’s Controversial Oil Wealth Wastage by newmaonza: 11:35am On Feb 03, 2013
naptu2: Although I don't think that the western powers are completely blameless, but those asking what right these countries have to tell us what to do should ask themselves a couple of questions:

1) Where do Nigerian citizens run to, to avoid lack of opportunities, poor infrastructure, education, etc? Which countries have to stretch their resources to accommodate economic refugees from Nigeria?

2) Where do we run to for economic aid?

3) Where do we run to for loans
?
The answer to those Questions is really what is causing the Outburst. It used to Be the US & UK....... Recently Itz now China, Korea and India........e.g for Gov Chime to spend some months in an Indian Hospital b4 being Transferred to the Uk....... Mehn this G8 nation have to stem the tide before itz too late,,,, Nigeria is too precious in their sight to loose

What is wrong with a30 year old man or woman working in a bank when we all know that only few people dream of working till they attain the official retirement age? 2buff: @kambo @Zouga and others

You don't have to agree. What I am talking about is hard to see right now at your level.
It will become more apparent as you progress in your career. Read books, like "The Business of Software" by Eric Sink.

When swimming with sharks, you need to think like one. You don't have to be one, but you very much need to think like one.
Letting someone "handle all your business" without any intelligent oversight from you is a risky and wreckless move.
Employee mentality. Don't be a victim.

If you are smart enough to develop software, you should be smart enough to read up a thing or 2 about certain aspects of business so you can see certain things coming.
Nobody is saying you should be a pure business man (that would be a sad waste of talents). We're not talking extremes here.
Be a business-minded Techie.
Boy Whatz really wrong being an employee huhhuh? I also wanna ask You what your Priorities are, If itz really to make Money and be stupendously rich then please stop Soft-ware Development and start thinking figures like an ALABA boy or Dangote, You really cant beat this dudes at their thing, another question i will like to ask You is that when You build that wonderful business of yours, are you not going to employ Victims(employees) in it or are you gonna be the chairman, accountant, lawyer, soft ware developer, clerk................................. I just smell FEAR in You

I think China has really been Good to Africa cos If not for them,,,, Africa would have been behind by 20years,I see the Chinese as very good Business-Men, the WEST wanted to Punish Africa for their sins and China came to the Rescue offering us Protection and Cheap Goods for just Our Mineral resources that are useless to us Africans "until needed by the west".
Itz High time Black Africans should learn from this window of opportunity that China has offered us and become self sufficient cos when they get a cheaper option to Africa............Only God Knows

To trail off a bit...

At the end of the day, the knowledge you acquire in school is not what will move you on in life.
It is the time you spend in your room and what you do there that determines this.
The paper you get from school simply serves as a "foot in the door" to get into an interview for the position you are aiming for.
Think of it as Resume SEO grin, so it is still important to get the paper.
What happens after the "come for interview" stage is all you.

After school, if you are just starting out, what you can SHOW your prospective employers that you have been doing matters a lot more than just talking.
As a fresh graduate, there was never any interview I went to where I didn't go with my laptop to give my employers a hands-on demo of what I have done, mostly on my own time, ranging anywhere from Web applications to OpenGL 3D visualizations depending on the job. This showed that I wasn't just someone who went to school, collected paper and wants to work. It showed that this was actually my passion, and more importantly, it left an impression of you in their minds.

Coming back to the question...
In my opinion, being good with software is easier to achieve independently than being good with electronics.
The number 1 reason being that electronics, and anything hardware, requires MONEY. You have to buy tools, resistors, solders, wires etc....and then a computer to program your PICs.
Whereas with software, all you need is a computer. Everything else is available for free from the internet.

So it just made sense to me to go into something that afforded me the advantage of using and learning about these hardware stuff while I was at school, but not taking me totally off the intended path.
I sensed then that if I didn't avail myself of the opportunity then, I would never be inclined to know anything about electronics.
Even though I never actually used it, I wouldn't be lost today if someone started talking about it.

But that's just me. Maybe you would prefer something of a software/business hybrid at school or something if hardware really isn't your thing.
sounds like Peter

@ OP: This is the classic problem every techie faces, we r so in love with our jobs that we 4get dat we have to pay the bills.. . . As 4 d business side of things i have to concur with Micheal Gerber dat "TECHIES CAN NEVER MAKE GOOD BUSINESS MEN". . . . . I believe dat since d average techie is not interested in being d richest man in Nigeria, we leave business to the businessmen & focus more on doing the job without being exploited, I think the solution to this problem is 4 techies 2 form associations ("employers nightmare"wink & truely co-operate with one another( the average techie is selfish especially with knowledge) to solve our problems.

OAM4J: I agree with you.

From my experiences when in Nigeria; standard, well equipped auto shops with qualified Technicians are badly needed everywhere in Nigeria. Imagine the number of customers Sienna will get from badly treated Nairaland members alone.

Seriously Sienna, give it a serious thought, save a lot of these people from throwing money away. Most of these mechanics only do trial by error at the expense of the car owners.
