PoliticsRe: Foreign Degree & The Nigerian Mentality by newmaonza: 12:11am On Mar 05, 2013
mba emeka: I can relate with the OP fulltime. The situation has seriously waned from Jarus time to now. I can say that because I'm from the latter era (most likely where the OP is coming from). To be fair, the MNC's still favour the foreign degrees but like Ajanlekoko and others have said the white collar job openings seem to have wizened over time even abroad.

Nepotism and cronism is still the order of the day (especially in the IOC's). These lot favour folks that have had some experience with them- either as an intern or as a contract staff. I experienced it with Exxon. After passing the Dragnet and skilltest phase(s) we where interviewed. In that time span I had a friend that served with them and was also retained as a contract staff that wrote the same tests. He didn't pass the skilltest (I know this because he confided in me and besides he's an intelligent lad that graduated with a first class degree in engineering from a Nigerian university) but his boss told him to relax that he'd contact the HR to see what he could do. Well, to cut a very long story short he got the job and has been chilling there ever since. The caveat here is that atleast the guy is pretty smart but the reality on ground is that he wouldn't have secured the job bereft of his bosses help. Its even noteworthy to add here that 3 others like himself (that served there too and were retained) got the same job. We just accepted it and moved on.

PS: the likes of SPDC, ADDAX have corroborating stories as such. Maybe in 2004-2008 it wasn't like that. But from 2009-till date. People experienced it. It gets easier after one has garnered some experience though. But its safer to know the Petroleum minister, VP, C-in-C and the likes. Its safest to know God. *wink wink*
God will bless You for this..
PoliticsRe: Foreign Degree & The Nigerian Mentality by newmaonza: 12:04am On Mar 05, 2013
coogar: why should this be the case?
i have to rub palms of my employers before i get a job? what else do i have to do after i land the job? wash his car? suck his cöck? if they collect money from men to give them jobs, heaven knows what they would demand from female job applicants.......
I hope you have not fallen prey to the most popular scam in Nigeria..... Don't forget the meaning of a JOB, Itz something You do to ease someone off a burden he cant do himself but finds You able, competent and willing to do it...The reward is wages & salary....Do you have another definition for it
PoliticsRe: Foreign Degree & The Nigerian Mentality by newmaonza: 11:51pm On Mar 04, 2013

If not, You for Know say Dem no dey Pluck money for Mango trees For Naija......... Guy, all hope is not lost, Just Give those HR guyz what they need, most times itz usually not intelligence but a willingness to just work your ass out in gruelling conditions and produce result cry..... PoliticsRe: APC: Tambuwal For President? by newmaonza: 6:42pm On Feb 17, 2013
@ OP: Itz Like You want to sample Peoples Opinion....... I want to let the whole world Know That If Buhari should step down for anybody in 2015 then APC is dead.... He is the only credible Northern candidate Nigerians can vote for without the country breaking into Pieces.... Buhari is so not steping down.... The Vice Presidents post is just a Ceremonial Post in Nigeria,,,, What I see in the APC merger can be likened to the Yaradua / Jonathan Ticket such that when Yaradua dies, Jonathan becomes the President, so if APC wins 2015 Buhari becomes the President and rules for 8 years (which cant be guaranteed cos of his health and age), therefore an ACN vice president would finish the Tenure.......

BTW

PDP no be Moi-Moi, What would make Buhari's CPC and Tinubu's ACN come to form an alliance........ I am sure the PDP guys are just watching the hand-writing on the wall. .. PDP is superb at Unconventional tactics,,,,,, AS for Jonathan contesting in 2015, Itz already clear to descerning minds that He will not bother contesting. If He make too much noise BABA go give am BETA SLAP grin grin grin grin.
Car TalkRe: Euro/American Vs Asian Cars (Reliability, Durability & Performance) by newmaonza: 2:44pm On Feb 17, 2013
yungboss: advocate Sam is angryyyyyyy!!!! Lol
This is a highly debatable topic Ikenna, many views and opinions are going to be generated.
The word ''duarbility'' will be difficult to define because people may choose to refer to life span of exterior body parts and longevity of external and internal components.
''Reliability'' index on the other hand could mean susceptibility to failure, or how well you trust a component to last as designated by factory specification.
The japanese cars were designed with a simplistic philosophy, majority of their cars weren't designed with a performance-oriented philosophy. Performance comes at a premium when compared with most euro brands e.g, the Mercedes. Today, the new toyota corolla still comes with a 4-speed auto...now you cannot compare that with e.g, a BMW that provided the F1 type SMG as far back as 1999/2000, or the DCT...these drivetrain types are way more advanced than the former and hence you wouldn't compare them to the type found in the best lexus, mitsubishi, toyota, nissan, subaru of the time...
Because of the different orientation of both the German/Euro and Asian cars, for me, this would be hard to compare. People say Japanese cars can ''run forever'' i would agree (to an extent)...but i would also agree that they gratify their respective owners differently, and for me, this is the turning point.
A toyota's engine can be ''abused'' by a makeshift technician, but you don't abuse the German cars without paying dearly.
Sometime in 2011 when i went about asking for a BMW mechanic, i met a person who withdrew from touching my car because, though by specialty he was unauthorized but from simple deduction, he attempted diagnosing a prob for a someone who owned a BMW and it backfired on him, he tried jump-testing some component and according to him, this he would ''ordinarily do in other cars'' without a problem, and he ended up paying dearly...(forgotten what it was)...
The japanese cars have the basic engineering/automotive design, the Euro/German cars have been engineered with all kinds of unproven technology, from its suspension to its driveline innovations, edging towards performance and not so much of reliabilty or durability (my views) as the toyota and its pioneer Hybrid Technology but of course, you dig a little deeper into your pocket for maintenance, but this the price you pay for the performance it offers. Maybe we should bring two cars to question:
the 2012 Merc S Class 63 Amg vs 2012 Lexus LS 600h and break down each technology to see what's more basic...and prone to last longer (maintenance cost) for an average Nigerian (independent market). Trac and siena can do justice to this aspect.
J.D. Power and Associates rates lexus above the Merc, BMW, VW,Porsche based on consumer reports...but in their performance band, the opposite was the result.
This topic cannot be exhausted, but in summary i'll choose the Gratification and performance of a Euro car over the easily accessible 'relaibility' of the Asian car...
Ikenna,
sorry i may have strayed from the topic a little, pardon me.
Please thats is a big Lie.... From my little experience I think this battle between German & Japanese Cars go on because there is no Major dealership/partnership for German or European cars again in Nigeria,If You remove Elizade and Briscoe Support for Toyota, I believe all Japanese Brands will die in Nigeria... Think of it PAN gave way any Our Trusted Peugeot is dead, Ten years ago Nobody will compare a Corolla to a 505...

Summary,Its Useless buying a car and waiting for 3 months just to change a defective sensor.

After reading the God Virus, a book founded on the ideas of Richard Darwkins... I cant help but conclude that Atheism is also a virus that seriously want to take the place of the various religions around the world and i think It might win because it has the most powerful tool of the modern age on its side (SCIENCE)...........I just wish some1 with an objective mind can read that book and use the Virus model to dissect Atheism as preached by the Science community........
I think Both Religion and Atheism are after the same Goal to get as many converts to their side as possible

Christianity EtcRe: I Am More Concerned About Africa Than The Salvation Of My Soul. by newmaonza: 1:11pm On Feb 09, 2013
ooman: One of the reason i became an atheist is why a continent like africa, that "puts God first in everything" is the poorest and why a whole race, who is the most religious is also the most unsuccessful, that race is obvious: the black race!

I thought to myself that if God exists, and if he really decided not to help african communities but watch children die of hunger everyday in their numbers, then i can't also trust that i have a secured paradise waiting for me after death. God might also "decide it is not his affairs to interfere with".

If God can't help or at least reward African communities now despite how much they love, worship and expect from him, i dont need or want his help in the "afterlife", not that i believe in an "afterlife".

There is nothing more i'd love to see than the success of my land, even if that means loss of my soul.

You might be wondering how becoming an atheist will be of any help to my land, it will be because only when you are an atheist could you be really free to think about all the possibilities about a particular matter.
Atheism frees the mind, it is the perfect way of life, the only right path that leads to life. I dont mean an afterlife i mean a fulfilled life.

You want me to believe in God, start by showing me the reward of God worship as it is evident in african communities. When i am satisfied, you would have earned a referal commission on me by bringing me to God, except you cant because obviously, the more you worship God, the less successful you get
If that is the evidence you look towards, You will never believe in God....... God is more than the rivalry that goes on in the Human mind
