Peter and Paul here use the word of God as the agent of the new birth here, another agent is the Holy Spirit.

The bible is complete, correct and does not contradict itself in anyway be that as it may the scripture you quoted in 1pet 1:23 does not answer the question of "when" rather is reveals to us the truth of our source and origin of the new creation

Sure why not most certainly, l must admit though that l am yet to do a comprehensive study on that but never the less, one thing is sure and certain l believe and agree that Jesus Christ died Physically and was seen and witnessed by many as He lay hanging on the cross and l believe that He defeated satan. And frankly speaking l think this particular thread is concerned with when the apostles got born l would suggest we remain true to it. Consequently, l would wish to request that Olaadegbu provide the answer to the question raise by Joagbaje as regards the possibility of people being born again before the death and ressurection of Jesus Christ, how could they have been born again when the blood the was to wash their sins and trespasses was yet to be shed?
