The protesters expressed disappointment that despite President Bola Tinubu's removal of Kyari and the entire NNPCL board on April 2, 2025, no step has been taken to investigate the alleged corrupt practices under Kyari's leadership. Hundreds of protesters have stormed the office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, to demand the prosecution of former Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) Group Chief Executive Officer, Mele Kyari, and a thorough probe into the company's transactions for the past five years. The protesters expressed disappointment that despite President Bola Tinubu's removal of Kyari and the entire NNPCL board on April 2, 2025, no step has been taken to investigate the alleged corrupt practices under Kyari's leadership. The demonstrators under the Concerned Citizens Against Corruption led by its Convener, Comrade Kabir Matazu, highlighted the controversy surrounding the rehabilitation and restreaming of government-owned refineries, citing allegations of billions of dollars being spent without transparency. “It is on record that this sack of the erstwhile corrupt leadership of the NNPCL drew applause from Nigerians, especially groups like our, which had been at the forefront of demanding accountability and transparency in the running of institutions,” Matazu said. “It is also of note that in Mele Kyari leadership of the NNPCL was plagued with countless and endless allegations of corruption due to what was described as lack of transparency. “Nigerians are disenchanted that Mr President has only stopped at removing the former leadership without taking steps to investigate how the Kyari and his team pran the organisation. “In this regard, a sore point is the alleged fraud surrounding the rehabilitation and the restreaming of the government owned refineries. The figures and the facts are simply not adding up. “The Concerned Citizens Against Corruption strongly believes that getting to the root of this matter will help the Federal Government to account for how public resources were spent on the controversial refineries' repairs undertaken under the Kyari leadership. “An investigation into the questionable transactions would also point the government in the direction of what funds to recover and from whom, which is sorely needed now considering Nigeria’s economic condition. “Furthermore, investigating all that transpired will set the stage for holding even the current leadership accountable while equally identifying potential pitfalls for those who are now in charge so that Nigeria is not caught in a loop of repeating the same mistakes. “In view of the foregoing, the Concerned Citizens Against Corruption calls on the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation to immediately review all agreements entered by the NNPCL under the Mele Kyari administration. “This investigation should find out how much the Federal Government has lost to such agreements and recommendations on to recover identified funds. We demand for an immediate judicial review." The Concerned Citizens Against Corruption called on the Minister of Justice to escalate the issue to a point where the Federal Government institutes a commission of inquiry into NNPCL's handling of the refineries' repairs under Kyari and the sacked board. The protesters vowed to continue demanding accountability and transparency in the running of institutions, emphasising that Nigerians deserve to know the truth about the alleged corrupt practices under Kyari's leadership. https://newsextra.com.ng/nigerians-protest-in-abuja-urge-probe-into-alleged-nnpcl-corruption-under-mele-kyari/

This is despite complications from a previous botched procedure where the hospital left a surgical needle inside her body, SaharaReporters was told. A 65-year-old woman, Margaret Mowalola Akinduntire, has died after the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) allegedly refused to perform a critical surgery, citing the recent Ramadan fasting. This is despite complications from a previous botched procedure where the hospital left a surgical needle inside her body, SaharaReporters was told. In an exclusive interview with SaharaReporters, her son recounted a harrowing series of encounters with LASUTH spanning over a decade, alleging gross negligence and abandonment by the state-run hospital. “In 2013, they operated on her because of kidney problem then. I think it was the right kidney. They had to take that out in 2013 and year later, 2014, we were in the sitting room that day, when something just pierced her at the same point she did her surgery. She touched it and she realised it was a sharp something. We did not know what it was then. We had to start making calls, and she made calls to the people there in the hospital. And she had to go there. This time they did not even give her the drug that would not make her not to feel the pain in LASUTH. “They had to open her again while she was still very conscious. She was seeing and feeling the pain when they were reopening her. Guess what they found inside her? It was a needle. It was the needle they used in stitching during the first surgery. How could a general hospital for that matter forget needle inside someone? My family wanted to put the case then but I could not really recall what happened later that made them to stop it.” The son said although she later underwent a successful leg surgery, a fibroid diagnosis in 2024 brought her back under LASUTH’s care— and into another wave of negligence. “Later again, she did leg surgery, that one was okay, and no issue. Then last year, 2024, we discovered that she has been having fibroid. I didn’t know what fibroid is until last year she detected she had that. So last year, and the hospital said they would have to remove it. They gave her a date and we made preparation and everything. They removed the fibroid. After they removed her fibroid, the issue got complicated, and they claimed there was an error in the stitching of her body after surgery.” According to him, the surgical error led to severe abdominal complications. “So the error from the fibroid surgery led to my mum developing an abdominal turmoil and when the hospital discovered that, they had to do cancer tests and others. So they discovered that the turmoil is not cancerous. We were even happy that this is not cancerous. So we told them let’s take this thing out immediately before it gets worse. “Then LASUTH said Ramadan was coming, and they had to shift the surgery to after Ramadan. So I don’t know that in the Ramadan, if someone is dying, LASUTH can’t save the person because it is during Ramadan.” Things reportedly deteriorated rapidly after the hospital delayed the surgery. “So fast forward till after Ramadan, my mum became worse. She was very lean, and stomach became very big. It was as if my mum is shrinking, and her stomach is becoming big. So what is the issue? “They took her back to LASUTH, the surgical emergency department, she was there, they were meant to operate her and guess what, during the day of the operation, she went there, then all of a sudden, LASUTH said they can’t find her file and without that, they are not going to attend to her. And they literally rushed my mom there. My mom could not even walk anymore. She could hardly speak at this point. You are telling us you can’t find her file. Why will a competent hospital misplace a patient’s file? A dying patient for that matter?” In desperation, the family took her to a private hospital in Agege where she was revived temporarily. “So we took her to a private hospital at Agege because she was in need of treatment, those ones first revived her, they gave her some drips, and everything. She got better at least.” It took a social media campaign and the intervention of the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for LASUTH to reverse course. “At this point, my sister went to Twitter (X) to call LASUTH out and she also tagged the Governor. She shared me the link and I shared it to all my influencer friends, people with millions of followers, that please they should help me engage with the post. And the tweet gained traction and this led to the intervention of Lagos Governor. Sanwo-Olu called the hospital. After his call, the hospital texted my sister, and they said we should bring her back. Guess what? All of a sudden, LASUTH finds the file.” He said internal sources later revealed the file was deliberately hidden because the hospital allegedly saw her as a hopeless case. “It was later I heard from inside sources that the hospital intentionally held the file. Like it was intentional because they don’t want to waste their time. They said that she is going to die and why would they waste their time on her? And this is sad. Why would a hospital just give up on her like that? Someone that was still breathing. Her eyes were still opened. You just intentionally hid her files because you believe she is going to die.” Read full story below 👇 https://newsextra.com.ng/lagos-woman-dies-after-lasuth-allegedly-delays-surgery-previously-left-needle-inside-her-body/

The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Banking and Ancillary Institutions, Hon. Eze Nwachukwu Eze, has reaffirmed the National Assembly’s commitment to working with key stakeholders to design a robust and responsible exit strategy for the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON). Speaking Thursday at a stakeholders’ roundtable held at the Royal Institute for Training & Human Capital Development, Zuma Rock Resort, Niger State, Eze emphasized that the sunset of AMCON must not be treated as a mere administrative closure, but as a significant milestone in Nigeria’s economic evolution. The roundtable, themed “Exit Strategy for AMCON: Policy Considerations and Implementation Plans,” was organized by the House Committee on Banking and Ancillary Institutions. It brought together policymakers, regulators, legal experts, and academics to discuss AMCON’s wind-down path in alignment with international best practices. “An exit strategy that is rushed, poorly designed, or inconsistently implemented could undo years of financial stabilization work and expose the banking sector to systemic risks,” Hon. Eze warned. “However, a well-structured and policy-aligned transition will demonstrate Nigeria’s institutional maturity.” He called for a thoughtful approach that ensures continuity in financial system stability. Key considerations, according to him, include managing residual assets and liabilities, adjusting the legal and regulatory frameworks, and institutionalizing lessons learned from AMCON’s operations. Eze also cautioned that calls for AMCON’s exit must be weighed against Nigeria’s broader macroeconomic realities, including rising debt, forex volatility, inflationary pressures, and global economic shifts. He underscored the need for safeguards to prevent a recurrence of the circumstances that necessitated AMCON’s creation. The Committee, he assured, will continue to work with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Ministry of Finance, the NDIC, and other stakeholders to ensure the Corporation’s exit is smooth, efficient, and transparent. In his remarks, the Managing Director/CEO of AMCON, Mr. Gbenga Alade, noted that the Corporation has performed impressively since inception, recovering N2.13 trillion and outperforming its global peers. “Compared to Malaysia’s Danaharta’s 58% and China’s 33%, AMCON has achieved 89% recovery on the basis of purchase price,” he said. He added that the Corporation has saved thousands of jobs and contributed to reducing unemployment through its Asset Management Partners (AMPs) initiative. Alade explained that AMCON has been actively working on a phased exit plan that addresses litigation backlogs, unresolved Eligible Bank Assets (EBAs), asset disposal, divestment, and human resource issues. He stressed that AMCON’s assets are not government property, but collaterals pledged by loan defaulters. He warned that many high-profile obligors are waiting for AMCON’s closure to evade repayment, with some hiding assets offshore. Legal and financial experts including Prof. Uche Uwaleke and Mr. Oluseye Opasanya (SAN) urged the National Assembly to strengthen AMCON’s legal framework, block loopholes exploited by debtors, and push for consistent judicial support. They argued that without political will and inter-agency cooperation, AMCON’s efforts could be undermined, and the country left with a bigger debt burden. The roundtable ended with a consensus on the need for a technically sound, transparent, and phased AMCON exit strategy, with legislative backing and firm government support.

An Assistant Superintendent of Police, Egho Amiebelomo, today testified before the Federal High Court in Lagos in the ongoing N152 million alleged fraud case filed against the Chief Executive Officer of Oak Homes Limited, Olukayode Olusanya, and his company. In his testimony, Amiebelomo stated that the case he investigated involved allegations of fraud, obtaining money under false pretences, and stealing. Olusanya and his company are facing a four-count charge bordering on conspiracy, obtaining money by false pretence, fraud, and stealing, filed by the Nigerian Police Force. He was arraigned on November 26, 2024, and pleaded not guilty. According to the police, Olusanya allegedly conspired with Lynda Umeh, Oak Homes’ Head of Sales and Marketing, who is currently at large, to defraud a Nigerian-American engineer, Anthony Ugbebor. The police alleged further that between November 8, 2017, and August 4, 2020, the defendants deceived Ugbebor into paying N152 million for two three-bedroom apartments at Oak Residence, Victoria Island, Lagos, with a promise to deliver possession by February 28, 2019. However, the property was allegedly never delivered. At the last hearing on February 10, 2025, the prosecution sought to tender the complainant's petition and the defendant’s statement as evidence, but the defence objected to their admissibility. Justice Musa Kakaki adjourned the ruling on the admissibility to today (April 15, 2025). At the resumed hearing, Justice Kakaki admitted the complainant's petition in evidence, marking it as Exhibit A. However, the judge refused to admit the confessional statement of the defendant, ruling that the prosecution failed to comply with Section 17(2) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act. Testifying as the first prosecution witness, Amiebelomo told the court that he invited three other witnesses during the investigation: Mrs. Kofo Coker, Mr. Seye, and one Mr. Shuiabu. He confirmed that the witnesses submitted documents, including a payment receipt and an offer letter issued by the defendant in 2017, which Ugbebor accepted. Under cross-examination by defence counsel Barrrister Adeleke Agboola (SAN), Amiebelomo confirmed that the petition was dated and submitted on December 27, 2023, and that it was referred to him for investigation on the same day. He also said he met the petitioner for the first time when the Assistant Inspector General of Police transferred the petition to his department, during which the petitioner made and signed a statement in his presence. However, Amiebelomo stated he was not an expert in signature verification. He further revealed that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had previously handled the case, but said he was unaware that Olusanya had refunded N110 million via bank draft to the EFCC. He added that the defendant never informed him of any such refund during the investigation. Amiebelomo also said he was not aware of a civil suit, Suit No. LD447LMW/2023, in which a pre-emptive order of injunction was issued by the Lagos State High Court against the complainant and the EFCC. He stated that his department was not served with the court order. When asked if he knew that police officers were barred from handling purely civil matters, the prosecution objected to the line of questioning. Prosecutor Supol M.A. Omo-Osagie cited relevant case law and Section 135 of the Evidence Act to argue that a civil transaction could also give rise to criminal liability. He urged the court to disregard the question. Another defence counsel, Mr. Jude, challenged the completeness of the investigation, but Amiebelomo insisted it was conclusive. He said that when he visited the property site, the building was incomplete. Asked whether the defendant had explained why the property was not delivered, Amiebelomo said Olusanya claimed that the original agreed price was no longer tenable due to increased costs and that he was no longer willing to proceed at that price. He added that the defendant did not mention COVID-19 or the sealing of the property by the Lagos State Government as reasons for the delay. Thereafter, the case was adjourned until July 8, 2025, for continuation of trial. By Babajide Obafemi In the face of daunting challenges, security threats, economic imbalance, campaigns of calumny and lies, feminism brouhaha and ethnic jingoism, Governor Ododo keeps thriving. He didn’t take his eyes off the goal nor his hands off the plough. Do you even know that the people’s governor, after hosting crème de la crème from different strata of the society who came to felicitate his one year in office with him, went back almost immediately, to tilling the ground in his bid to deliver some never-ending futuristic projects that will be added to the catalogue of his well-executed masterpiece? Here is a quick, exciting rundown of progressive leaps over the weeks and months by a true excellency who defies all odds in the continuation of his people-oriented projects. Again, do you know? 1. As we speak, some township roads are either newly constructed or remodelled across the state. Township road projects like the ones going on in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government, Idah, Idah Local Government, Abejukolo, Omala Local Government, Aiyetoro Gbedde, Ijumu Local Government, Felele-Agbaja, Lokoja Local Government, Oguma, Bassa Local Government, Anyigba, Dekina Local Government, Mopa, Mopamuro Local Government, and Obangede-Uhuodo, Okehi Local Government. 2. As we speak, the state government is working to optimize decentralized renewable energy, aiming to alleviate energy and poverty and catalyze socioeconomic growth. 3. As we speak, the state has partnered to establish five mini LNG plants, driving economic growth and development. 4. As we speak, the state government has presented 3 billion naira to 80 communities, promoting sustainable agriculture practices and empowering rural communities. These and many more are visible projects that are ongoing across the state. Let me give you a sneak preview of those projects that will soon hit your face in startling reality like the whipping of Real Madrid by Arsenal at the Emirate: i. Kogi State International Airport, which is expected to accelerate economic growth and development in the state, is also expected to reduce traffic on the Abuja-Lokoja highway and other connecting states that link Kogi State. ii. Also, the Benin-Ajaokuta Road construction, which has been flagged off, promotes economic development and connectivity. Those who know Governor Ododo know that he loves to have a smooth, interconnected access road with neighbouring states, which will promote economic upliftment. He also has his eyes on a tight security network. Let’s not write in an inordinate length, lest we let some other robust upcoming projects out of the bag. But surely, like other projects that have been done, it will come, we shall all see them, and we shall all celebrate and be proud of Kogi State again. Now, these projects and many more, done by a quiet achiever, should be our focus and the subject of discussions on our lips. These and many more should be the reasons to be proud of our state, rather than concentrate on attention-seeking, chopper-flying bird. These and many more are the true gains of voting for Governor Ododo Ahmed Usman; these and many more are the true gains of democracy. Babajide Obafemi is saddled with the responsibility of community engagement

The Dada Osisi family of Ikangba has firmly asserted their rightful ownership of the Ikangba land in Odogbolu Local Government Area, debunking claims made by the Fibiwoga family and Obatop Properties. " Adekunle Adefowokan, a representative of the Dada Osisi family, has called out the Fibiwoga family for fraudulent actions involving a fake survey plan, which was used in an attempt to lay claim to the land ". In a statement issued to the press, Adefowokan explained that " the Fibiwoga family came forward with a court verdict on May 10, 2022, falsely claiming ownership of the land. They caused significant damage in the area during their encroachment, prompting the Dada Osisi family to petition the Anti-Fraud Unit at Alagbon ". " The Fibiwoga family was arrested, and an undertaking was signed, promising to restore all damages caused on the land. Adefowokan confirmed that the case was forwarded to the Department of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in Abeokuta, which resulted in a ban on both parties from accessing the land ". " As part of the agreement, Moshood Lawal, the head of the Fibiwoga family, committed to the immediate removal of a signpost erected by Obatop Properties, which falsely indicated ownership of the land. However, further investigation revealed that the survey plan presented by the Fibiwoga family was fraudulent, and the land they claimed was, in fact, government property". " In response, the Ogun State Government confirmed the authenticity of the Dada Osisi family's survey claim to the Ikangba land. The Fibiwoga family and Obatop Properties have since been arrested and charged with fraud and attempted murder, and the case remains ongoing in court Adekunle Adefowokan said ". " Adefowokan further emphasized the importance of clarifying the ownership of the Ikangba land, urging Nigerians, especially Ogun State indigenes, to recognize that the Dada Osisi family holds the legitimate rights survey to the property in question. He categorically stated that the fraudulent claims of the Fibiwoga family do not have any legal standing". The Ogun State Government has also taken action to address the issue. On Sunday, April 3, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Oluwasina Ogungbade, issued a strong warning to both the Fibiwoga family and Obatop Properties, accusing them of land grabbing and attempting to unlawfully seize government-acquired land in the Odogbolu Local Government area. In a statement released by the Ministry of Justice, Ogungbade reiterated the government's commitment to protecting the state’s land resources from illegal acquisitions. He stated that Ogun State's vast land, with its industrial corridors and proximity to Lagos, has attracted land grabbers who employ various fraudulent tactics to secure ownership. The government emphasized that it would not be manipulated into relinquishing any part of its acquired land. The statement concluded by reaffirming that the Fibiwoga family’s attempts to stake a claim to government land were fraudulent and that the government would take all necessary measures to prevent such illegal actions. Ogun State Government remains firm in its resolve to ensure that all land grabbing activities are curtailed, and it calls on all parties involved in land disputes to respect the legal processes and avoid resorting to illegal means to claim ownership.

With years of experience that have transformed her ideas into stunning condominiums and homes that enrich the skylines of Lagos, she has remained steadfastly connected to her humble beginnings. Her journey has been one of grit; having faced significant challenges before reaching the pinnacle of the real estate business, she now owns properties in prime locations across Lagos and has built a loyal clientele. This loyalty stems from her meticulous attention to detail and her passion for delivering exceptional quality in every project. In her commitment to giving back to society, Dr. Ayobami recently established The White Rose Foundation, a non-governmental organization dedicated to supporting abandoned children whose families can no longer afford their educational needs. Over the years, her deep sense of social responsibility has driven her to pay school fees for vulnerable children, an effort that has cost her millions of Naira. As demand for assistance grew, she decided to channel the proceeds from her business to expand her charitable efforts, ensuring that more beneficiaries could benefit from her foundation's initiatives. In celebration of her 40th birthday, she aims to touch more lives through educational grants, reflecting her desire to empower youth and create a brighter future. In contrast to many of her peers who might host extravagant parties to mark such milestones, Dr Ayobami has chosen to adopt over 100 vulnerable children in each state across the nation to benefit from her scholarship scheme. This initiative is designed to empower them and offer them a more promising future. She plans to initiate the selection process in her home state of Osun and subsequently extend it to Lagos State, where she resides. “The desire to establish a charity organization stems from my own experiences as a woman, which have shaped my perspective on life,” Dr. Ayobami explains. “I recognize that to break the cycle of adversity that I endured while growing up, I must ensure that others have access to the educational opportunities I once fought for. My educational scheme is not just about empowerment; it is about opening doors to new possibilities for these children in the future.” With her unwavering vision and commitment to social change, Dr Shakirat Ayobami is making a profound impact, one life at a time.

Justice doesn’t always work fairly when faced with power, bias, or red tape, but Barrister Olakunle Abiodun Afolabi stands out as a voice for those who aren’t heard. With ten years of court experience, Afolabi has become known for defending human rights, working with constitutional law, and giving hope to people caught in Nigeria’s complex legal system. Afolabi’s path comes from hard work, not luck. He graduated with honours from Lagos State University with both his law degree and diploma, then trained at the Nigerian Law School before starting a career full of impressive legal achievements. Beyond his education, he has certificates from the Mandela Institute for death penalty defence and leadership training from Rise Networks, showing his dedication to justice and doing his best work. But it is in the courtroom where Afolabi truly shines. Licensed to practice across all 36 states and the FCT, he has become synonymous with high-stakes litigation, defending clients in cases that test the very fabric of Nigeria’s legal and moral framework. Afolabi’s portfolio reads like a chronicle of modern Nigeria’s legal battles. From securing the freedom of EndSARS protesters like Clement Igbudu and Adeniyi Adeyemi—wrongfully incarcerated for demanding accountability—to defending journalists under siege for upholding press freedom, his work transcends mere litigation; it is a crusade for societal equity. In criminal defense, Afolabi’s prowess is unmatched. He has stood fearlessly against charges of murder, armed robbery, and cybercrimes, dismantling flimsy prosecutions with forensic precision. Take the case of *Gabriel Sowunmi*, accused of cybercrime and human trafficking: Afolabi’s meticulous dissection of evidence exposed procedural malpractices, leading to an acquittal that reverberated across Nigeria’s legal community. His civil law victories are equally staggering. Representing giants like Huawei Technologies and MTN Nigeria, he navigates corporate labyrinths with ease, while his debt recovery triumphs for entities like Dangote Agrosacks, showcase his versatility. Yet, it is his pro bono work with Avocats Sans Frontières France (Lawyers Without Borders) that reveals his core: providing free legal aid to victims of torture by security agencies, ensuring accountability under Nigeria’s Anti-Torture Act 2017. Afolabi’s specialization in human rights and constitutional law is not merely professional—it is personal. As the head of the ProCAT and eRIGHTS initiative in Lagos, he has spearheaded efforts to combat police brutality, secure reparations for survivors, and challenge systemic impunity. “The law is not a shield for the powerful,” he asserts. “It is a sword for the oppressed.” His advocacy extends to labor rights, where he champions fair treatment for workers and trade unions, and media law, where he battles censorship to protect journalistic freedom. Each case he undertakes—whether defending a wrongfully accused individual or challenging unconstitutional policies—is a brick in the edifice of a more just Nigeria. Afolabi’s success is rooted in an unshakable ethos: integrity, resilience, and an insatiable hunger for knowledge. A skilled draftsman and orator, he combines legal acumen with technological savvy—a rarity in a profession often resistant to change. His leadership at *Kunle Afolabi LP*, where he mentors young lawyers and oversees complex litigations, reflects his belief in nurturing the next generation of advocates. Colleagues describe him as “a thinker who outworks everyone in the room” and “a strategist who turns legal battles into masterclasses.” Yet, beneath the accolades lies a man driven by empathy. “Every client’s freedom,” he says, “is a thread in the tapestry of justice we must weave for our nation.” With a track record that includes appellate court victories and groundbreaking human rights rulings, Afolabi shows no signs of slowing down. His eyes are set on expanding access to justice through tech-driven legal solutions and deepening collaborations with global bodies like the African Bar Association. As Nigeria grapples with challenges to democracy and human rights, Afolabi’s role as a legal sentinel becomes ever more critical. His journey—from the courtrooms of Lagos to international advocacy—hints at a future where his influence could reshape legislative frameworks or even ascend to the bench. Olakunle Abiodun Afolabi is more than a lawyer; he is a institution. A defender of the marginalized, a corporate strategist, and a human rights icon, he embodies the rare brilliance that transcends legal practice to ignite societal change. With each case, he redefines what it means to wear the wig and gown. As the sun sets over Lagos, casting long shadows over its crowded streets, one truth remains clear: *the prospects of Olakunle Abiodun Afolabi are not just great—they are boundless*. For in his hands, the law is not merely a profession. It is a revolution.

He had narrated how the Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, Moyosore Adedoyin Ogunlewe bought a property worth N800 million allegedly with funds diverted from council treasury. In the petition obtained by SaharaReporters, Oyebanji also accused Ogunlewe of buying a Black Toyota Camry with registration number, KJA 709 JD worth millions of Naira to one Ibraheem Adisa Mustapha “so that he won't contest against his (Ogunlewe) second term bid.” “It is against this premise that I have been encouraged to present this petition to intimate you on the reckless looting of the treasury of kosofe local government by the present administration, led by Hon. Barr. Moyosore Adedoyin Ogunlewe and his local government functionaries,” part of the petition read. “It is not out of place to mention that the local government is not finding it easy financially as a result of the reckless way the resources of the local government were handled by the present administration. The cost of projects, were over-priced, the Exco minutes doctored and manipulated. “Purchase and Procurement not properly followed. No Exco member, knows anything about the financial programs of the council, and many more. I will also want this Honourable Institution, to ask the Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, Barrister. Moyosore Adedoyin Ogunlewe, to explain how he has been spending both Federal Allaocation and the Internally Generated Revenue of the Local Government since he assumed office as the Chairman. “In recent days, due to intimidation, coercion, force, threats, suspension and total sack by the Executive Chairman, Hon. Barrister, Moyosore Adedoyin Ogunlewe, some of the Excomembers yielded to him and decided to play along with him. For these reasons, I have attached all WhatsApp chats and voice notes from the platform I created on my phone, for the Supervisors and Special Advisers. There you will hear and read the comments of each and everyone of us. In case any one of them wants to deny due to financial inducements or bowing to threats. “Everything is in a flashdrive here attached. He was beaten and seriously tortured, that he had to confess to the Police before the Chairman, some documents which he had given to me. “Ever since this incident happened, the Chairman, told the Civil Servant in the Police Stattion that he was going to kill the two of us. I had to take cover and ran to my inlaw in Delta State. I left Lagos on the 10th, June 2024, when some Police officers from Area 'H' in Ogudu, came to look for me at home. Several threats made to me on phone from unknown and unidentified callers. Strange faces seen in the mosque where I usually pray my daily prayers. I came back to Lagos on the 5th of July 2024. “Some of the documents, especially the EXTRACTS, were quickly doctored and written again. All the EXTRACTS, presently here, and the approval they claimed was made by the EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE, was all lies. There was never a time, when projects were ever discussed in the Exco meeting. There was never a time where the Chairman, ever made mentioned of the Allocation or the Internal Generated Revenue. “No Exco Member knows the financial situation of the local government. To make the work of this highly respected Institution quicker, faster and efficient, I have added here the names of some of the council staff that should be invited for questioning. I have also included the name of the Exco Minutes Recorder, who was used to write a new Exco Minutes after the original minutes from the Exco Sitting. Attached are the signatures of the other Exco Members.” It read further, “Some of the fictitious contracts awarded without due consultation and the knowledge of the Executive members include the following: “EXTRACT OF THE MINUTES OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING HELD ON MONDAY 16TH, OCTOBER 2023 AT THE NULGE CONFERENCE HALL KOSOFE LOCAL GOVERNMENT SECRETARIAT. The Quiz Competition where the Chairman said he spent Five Hundred Thousand Naira (500,000). The three day Seminar and workshop where the Chairman also spent Five Hundred Thousand (500,000). By Adeyemi Obadimu (VERON) STANBIC IBTC Holdings PLC is embroiled in a legal storm, with a staggering 405 lawsuits piling up against the financial giant, NEWSEXTRA learnt. To this end, the company has set aside a colossal N260 billion to deal with its mounting legal troubles, raising serious concerns about its corporate governance and financial stability. The Group’s litigation portfolio, as of September 30, 2024, includes claims totaling N260,820,169,869.44; USD$ 1,942,819.15 & GB £75,840.71 Despite these overwhelming figures, the bank’s leadership remains adamant that these legal battles will not impact its financial health—a claim that rings hollow given the sheer volume and value of pending cases. AMCON Dispute Highlights Questionable Dealings One of the most alarming cases is the ongoing legal clash with the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON). The dispute, which dates back to December 2012, revolves around a questionable transaction where STANBIC IBTC allegedly sold non-performing loans to AMCON at an inflated valuation of N10 billion. AMCON later challenged this valuation, unilaterally revising the figure down to N5.7 billion and accusing the bank of misrepresentation. When AMCON sought to recover what it claimed was an overpayment, STANBIC IBTC refused, leading to a drawn-out legal battle. In a shocking turn, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) intervened in July 2019, directly debiting the bank’s account to recover N4 billion. This unprecedented action suggests serious regulatory concerns about STANBIC IBTC’s financial dealings. While the bank initially lost its case at the Federal High Court, the Appeal Court overturned the decision in 2022, ruling that AMCON had no authority to reverse the sale outside the 12-month window set by its own regulations. However, AMCON has now escalated the case to the Supreme Court, where a final ruling is expected in 2025. This prolonged legal battle raises significant doubts about the integrity of STANBIC IBTC’s financial transactions and its ability to operate within regulatory frameworks. A Pattern of Legal Controversy The AMCON dispute is just one of hundreds of lawsuits against the bank, painting a troubling picture of a financial institution mired in legal uncertainty. With N260 billion set aside for litigation, it is evident that STANBIC IBTC anticipates more legal woes ahead. According to market observers, he sheer volume of claims suggests a pattern of corporate missteps, raising red flags for investors and stakeholders alike. Despite the bank’s assurances that these lawsuits will not materially affect its financial position, the market remains skeptical. If the Supreme Court rules against STANBIC IBTC in the AMCON case, analysts believe this could set a precedent for further liabilities, potentially, destabilising the bank’s financial standing. What Lies Ahead for STANBIC IBTC? As the company faces increased legal scrutiny, its reputation hangs in the balance. Investors and customers are left questioning whether the bank is truly as stable as it claims, or if it is merely masking deeper financial troubles. With the Supreme Court set to weigh in on the AMCON case in 2025, STANBIC IBTC’s future remains uncertain. For now, the bank continues to operate under the cloud of litigation, with hundreds of billions of naira earmarked for legal battles. Whether it emerges unscathed or suffers a financial hit remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: STANBIC IBTC’s legal troubles are far from over. In the ordinary course of business, the Group is exposed to various actual and potential claims, lawsuits, and other proceedings that relate to alleged errors, omissions, and breaches. The Directors are satisfied, based on present information and the advice of legal counsel, that no material loss is likely to be incurred by the Group in respect of these claims. The Group’s litigation portfolio as of 30 September 2024 comprised 405 cases, with a total claim value of monetary claims against the Group was . While the total claims filed against the Group are substantial, the Directors believe that the ultimate resolution of these matters will not have a significant adverse effect on the Group’s financial position or profitability. The Group has made adequate provisions where necessary, and management continues to monitor and review legal risks proactively.

Muhammed, a resident of Kano, has accused Air Peace of withholding a N597,500 refund for a flight ticket he mistakenly purchased, despite fulfilling all of the airline’s refund requirements. The issue arose on September 17 when Muhammed purchased a ticket for a Liberian student traveling from Monrovia to Lagos. Due to a booking error, he mistakenly used a different student’s name. Muhammed, who regularly arranges flights for multiple students, used the wrong name due to the default profile set for easier processing. Upon realizing the mistake, he immediately contacted Air Peace to request a correction, but the airline informed him that the ticket was non-refundable and that they could not change the name. Despite the situation, Muhammed explained that the student whose name was mistakenly used was not traveling and that the actual student was at risk of losing a scholarship if the ticket was not refunded. On my way to his Ilaro-Yewa office to wish him well on his imminent 55th birthday celebration—about ten feet away from the doorstep of his Mosque where he had gone to say his Fajr Salah prayer—I was about to prostrate before him. He wouldn’t carry his esteemed charisma; he makes people feel at home with him anywhere, anytime; not only while bowing before Allah (Ruku), facing the Kaaba in Mecca! The Chairman, IBD Impex Ltd, Chief Ibrahim Egungbohun, the Olu-Omo of Yewaland, is known for his live and let live lifestyle; his humility is enviable to all persons of genuine godliness. Before I could complete the prostration process, “how are you Simon?”, he drew me up. Good morning sir, May Allah accept your prayers sir, “amen”, he said. “Let’s go into the office”, he directed. It was some minutes to seven o’clock. Sat on a cream coloured leather sofa, he offered me the seat to his right while seated his cousin, Prince Babatunde Elegbede, on the left sofa. The four walls of his office, in addition to a well spacious space dedicated to seating of Honours, were filled with Awards of Competitive Importance. Those received within Nigeria were competing favourably with lots of captivating Laurels offered from overseas. I couldn’t remove my gaze in time from one of the photographic frames which portrays the renowned Customs Comptroller General, Col Hameed Ali Ibrahim (Rtd) dressed in the Same sparkling White Kaftan attire with Chief Ibrahim Egumgbohun, the famous IBD Dende. Individuals who had accepted the arrest rumour at that time may have to fact-check their sources. After reading this, they may have to consider contacting the former CGC to confirm whether Chief Egungbohun was his arrested suspect or invited stakeholder? The Portrait in his office remains a sight to behold. Perhaps, Chief Egungbohun understood my admiration for the photograph. He allowed some minutes so that my eyes may feed to satisfaction on the portrait. Then, he asked, “anything about the picture”? I said, some people must see this. He said, "if you think so". I greeted him again, and said, I am here wishing you happy birthday in advance sir, your 55th birthday coming up in the next eleven days, he nodded in affirmation. My visit mainly was to x-tray his mindset over the unprintable names that “a cabal of dissidents” called him, starting some days to his last birthday. I wanted to know to what extent the “defamation” has disturbed, destabilized or discouraged him from continuing his nature as a provider of succour to the needy. He was ready to respond. He said, “Aburo, my belief is that Allah is the Ultimate Sustainer; He guides, protects, delivers and blesses”. “On the issue of helping people, don’t go there. Except Allah, no other persons or things of discouragement can stop me from giving my widow’s mite to the underprivileged. “I always tell you. I am not wealthy. It is just the way Allah wired me, simple! "You know, in addition to my Freight business, I think you know the farms. Me, I can’t stop giving". Speaking further about what I can describe as his 2024 ordeal, he said, “Once you know the ulterior motives behind any challenges facing you, then such challenge is almost gone. The propagandists knew about my good relationship with the Presidency. Those sponsored propaganda published against me was apparently a fight-back by the oppositions of the government, especially those against the policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his Service Chiefs. They alleged that the NPF, NCS, NA, and even the DSS aided the smuggling of contrabands laden trucks tagged, ‘Headquarters Movement’ for the use of bandits and terrorists. “All those lies they told against me, using me as a lead, to discredit—in their own silly imaginations—the whole security architecture of this Sovereign Nation, all in their bids to cause anarchy in the land, Haba! Unfortunately, this Nigeria is our only Country. “What else can I say? In the same year that all those things happened was the year I was honoured with several recognitions for patriotism and exemplary leadership across developmental strides in the society, among which were an Award of Excellence on “Community Leadership and Border Sanity” by NUJ Osun State Council, held at the Council’s Secretariat, Osogbo and the most recent Fellowship of the ICT Polytechnic, Igbesa, Ado-Odo/Ota LGA, Ogun State, under the leadership of Dr Abiodun Oluseye, relying on my Community Development services. “Yes, I am a business man of about four decades in this country. They can’t erase the fact that God has been for me, as I have been ensuring that I operate within the arms of the law. “Just as I told you last year, ‘ẹni tó bá sá bọ̀tì ló máa bẹ̀rù òjò’. I so believe in the fact that ‘Òtítọ́ ló máa lékè, àti pé ẹni tó bá jẹ gbì ì ló máa kú gbì ì’. “Today, a year later, though the case is in Court, but upon all their sponsored machinations and falsehood, Nigeria is growing; both in economy and security wise. Infact, President Tinubu is proud of the Nigeria Customs Service led by CGC Adewale Bashir Adeniyi MFR. “The icing on the cake is that the Service surpassed the target given to it by the Presidency by over ₦61trn, remitted a huge sum of ₦6.1trn. Recently, they were looking for ways to hang the tragic assassination of Yomi Adetula on me, saying he was their key witness in the Libel Lawsuit I filed against them. Imagine their level of extreme cruelty! “For the sole reason that I have never been a gun runner, nor have I had anything to do with assassins but a patriotic, God fearing and kind hearted Nigerian businessman, Allah will continue to shame whoever chooses to join their cabal of dissidents, no two ways about it”. “All I can say as I am clocking 55 is Alhamudulilahi! “On my birthday, the 3/3/25, God willing, as usual, my families, colleagues and a few of you, my media friends will join me to say thank you Allah for continuing to be my Sustainer”. Pinned to a reporter's Diary, SIMON FAKEYE's visit to Chief Ibrahim Egungbohun, the IBD Dende, yielded more wisdom, reemphasizing life's positivity in the face of challenges, giving flight to my dream as a media professional to continue to diffuse smear campaigns by sticking to the truth, regardless of the circumstances.

Speaking in an interview on ARISE TV on Friday, Akpoti-Uduaghan alleged that Akpabio had made unwanted advances toward her and is now retaliating against her refusal. Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP, Kogi Central) has accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual harassment, alleging that she is facing political punishment for rejecting his advances. Speaking in an interview on ARISE TV on Friday, Akpoti-Uduaghan alleged that Akpabio had made unwanted advances toward her and is now retaliating against her refusal. She also revealed that she has substantial evidence, including screenshots of their conversations, and challenged security agencies to investigate. “He was always calling me on WhatsApp,” she stated, alleging that the Department of State Services (DSS) could extract their call records. She added that her husband is also a witness to the events. She said her problem with Akpabio started on December 8, 2023 “when myself and my husband visited Akwa Ibom for Senator Akpabio’s birthday”. She said, “Akpabio was showing me around his house and was holding my hands with my husband following behind us when he said, he wants me to come and be spending special moments in his house. “My husband heard him and later told me not to travel abroad alone or be with the Senate President alone. In February, I wanted to move a motion for the investigation on the ills of the corrupt practice in a Ajaokuta steel company. “I listed that motion five times. It was the sixth time that it was listed on the order paper that was approved. Many senators can testify to that. “Before the motion made the order paper, I went to the Senate President in his office, and I said, ‘Senate President, you know how important this Ajaokuta Steel Company is to me, you know how important it is to my people and to Nigerians. I’ve noticed that you have stepped down this motion.’” According to her, some senators had advised her to see Akpabio and plead with him about the matter. But she alleged that Akpabio said, “’Natasha, I’m the Chief presiding officer of the Senate, you can enjoy a whole lot if you take care of me. Make me happy’. “At that point, I said, ‘Sir, I’ll pretend that I didn’t hear this’. He said, ‘Well, the ball is in your court’. I left his office.” She described her case as that of a “student being punished by a lecturer for refusing to sleep with him”. Following the public allegation, the Senate referred Akpoti-Uduaghan to the Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions for disciplinary review. The committee, chaired by Senator Neda Imaseun (LP, Edo South), has been given two weeks to report its findings. The controversy follows a heated argument between Akpoti-Uduaghan and Akpabio after she discovered her seat had been changed without her consent. The senator has also filed a N100.3 billion fundamental human rights lawsuit against Akpabio. The accusations have further intensified tensions within the Senate, raising questions about the ethical conduct of top lawmakers and the handling of harassment allegations in Nigeria’s political space. However, Akpabio has yet to publicly respond to the claims.

On July 13, 2020, Joy Nunieh, a former acting managing director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), alleged that she slapped Godswill Akpabio for sexually harassing her, TheCable reports. Nunieh made the allegation during an interview on Arise TV. Akpabio, the incumbent senate president, was minister of Niger Delta affairs at the time. During the interview, Nunieh said the incident occurred at Akpabio’s guest house in Abuja, the country’s capital. The ex-acting MD had said her reaction to the alleged harassment from Akpabio proved her intolerance for “nonsense” as a woman from Rivers state. Akpabio had denied the sexual harassment allegation through a statement issued by his media aide. BACKGROUND Prior to the allegation, Nunieh and Akpabio had made the headlines following the activities of the senate ad hoc panel investigating the alleged mismanagement of N40 billion by the interim management committee of the NDDC. Akpabio had told the panel that he knew nothing about the expenditure of the NDDC under Nunieh because she refused to hand him briefings. But Nunieh alleged that the minister engineered her removal for failing to follow his “illegal orders”. Nunieh also alleged that Akpabio asked her to change the dollars in the NDDC account, sack the head of the legal team who is from the north, remove all directors who refused to follow his instructions, and to also implicate Peter Nwaoboshi, chairman of the senate committee on NDDC. On Friday, February 28, 2025, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, senator representing Kogi central, alleged that her troubles in the upper legislative chamber began after she rejected Akpabio’s sexual advances. Akpabio and Akpoti-Uduaghan recently engaged in a heated debate on the floor of the upper legislative chamber over a change in seating arrangements. Source: TheCable

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi-North Senatorial District, has filed a N100 billion defamation lawsuit against Senate President Godswill Akpabio and his Senior Legislative Aide, Mfon Patrick, following the publication of a Facebook post that she claims damaged her reputation. The lawsuit, which was filed in the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja, accuses the defendants of publishing defamatory statements about her on social media. The suit alleges that these statements caused significant harm to her dignity and public image. In the legal action, the senator seeks a public apology, a permanent injunction against further defamatory statements, and N100 billion in general damages. She is also requesting N300 million to cover the costs of the legal proceedings. The controversy stems from a Facebook post allegedly made by Mfon Patrick, titled "Is Local Content Committee of the Senate Natasha’s Birthright?" The post, which contained disparaging remarks about the senator, was reportedly made at the behest of Senate President Akpabio. The post mocked Akpoti-Uduaghan’s legislative knowledge and appearance, with a comment stating: “It is a bottled anger by the Kogi lawmaker, who knows nothing about legislative rules. She thinks being a lawmaker is all about ‘pancaking’ her face and wearing transparent outfits to the Chambers.” Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan has since claimed that the publication was a deliberate attempt to tarnish her reputation, causing public ridicule, damaging her relationships with colleagues, and leading to the loss of business opportunities. The senator, a former human rights activist and legal practitioner, was elected to the Senate in 2023 and has been involved in several controversies with Senate President Akpabio. In the suit, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan is seeking several declarations, including that the Facebook post is defamatory and has diminished her standing in the public eye. She is also demanding that the post be removed and that the defendants publish a formal apology in a widely circulated national newspaper. Additionally, the senator has asked for a perpetual injunction to prevent further defamatory statements from being made by Akpabio, Patrick, or their agents in the future. The dispute between Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan and Senate President Akpabio is not new. Tensions have been rising between the two since Akpoti-Uduaghan’s election to the Senate. She has repeatedly accused Akpabio of undermining her position, citing actions like the unexpected reassignment of her Senate seat and her removal from key committees. These actions, she claims, are part of a broader effort to stifle her contributions in the Senate. In a related incident, on February 20, 2025, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan discovered that her seat in the Senate had been reassigned without prior notice. She interpreted this as an attempt to sideline her and refused to accept the new seat. A disagreement followed, with Senate President Akpabio directing security personnel to enforce the seating arrangement, which further escalated the tensions between the two. These disputes come after a previous altercation in July 2024, when Akpabio reprimanded Akpoti-Uduaghan for speaking out of turn during a Senate session, calling it "not a nightclub." The remark was widely criticized as sexist and demeaning, leading Akpabio to later issue a public apology. The ongoing rift between Akpabio and Akpoti-Uduaghan has created a deep divide within the Nigerian Senate, drawing attention to the complex dynamics of power and gender within the legislative body. The outcome of the defamation lawsuit could have significant implications for both senators' reputations and political futures.

Nigerian Pastor Edward Abiodun Oluwasanmi has been arrested by the FBI for allegedly conspiring with Osun monarch Oba Joseph Oloyede to defraud the U.S. government of $4.2 million in COVID-19 relief funds. The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio indicted the duo on charges of conspiracy, wire fraud, and money laundering. According to court documents, Oluwasanmi, using his companies—Dayspring Property Incorporated, Dayspring Holdings, and Dayspring Transportation—submitted falsified loan applications to obtain pandemic relief funds. Prosecutors allege that in October 2021, he transferred $1 million of the funds to a brokerage account under Dayspring Transportation. The FBI arrested Oluwasanmi in Cleveland in April, indicting him on a 13-count charge of fraud. He was released on a $20,000 bail but had his U.S. and Nigerian passports confiscated to ensure compliance with court proceedings. Authorities also seized approximately $620,000 from his accounts, including $599,250 from a Fidelity Investments account and $20,000 from a Key Bank account. Meanwhile, the case has drawn further scrutiny due to the involvement of Oba Joseph Oloyede, the Apetu of Ipetumodu, who was reported missing in March 2024 but was later discovered in FBI custody. The Nigerian monarch, a U.S. citizen, was arrested on May 4, 2024, following an indictment for orchestrating fraudulent loan schemes through his six registered companies. Investigations reveal that Oloyede secured over $100,000 in loans for four of his companies in June 2020, followed by two $500,000 loans in October 2021. Prosecutors claim he also assisted other fraudsters, collecting a percentage of their loan amounts upon disbursement. A grand jury indicted both men on April 3, 2024, for defrauding the U.S. Small Business Administration’s pandemic relief programs between April 2020 and February 2022. The case remains under FBI investigation as prosecutors seek the forfeiture of fraudulent proceeds.

A former executive at Kuda, one of Nigeria’s leading fintech startups, has filed a lawsuit at an employment tribunal in the United Kingdom alleging a toxic work culture, gender discrimination, and retaliatory dismissal. Rosemary Hewat, the company’s former group chief people officer, claims in court documents seen by TechCabal that Kuda Technologies Limited and its CEO, Babatunde Ogundeyi, fostered an environment where women were belittled, discriminated against, and sidelined. Her lawsuit also alleges that she was denied stock options under terms promised to her male colleagues and was fired after raising concerns about workplace treatment. The allegations starkly contrast Kuda’s public image as a champion of gender inclusivity. The Target Global-backed startup has promoted its efforts to recruit and retain female talent, and Hewat, who joined the company in 2021, was a key figure in these initiatives. In March 2023, she announced that Kuda had reached a 1:1 ratio of female-to-male employees. However, her lawsuit describes a work culture where women were routinely undermined and excluded. Hewat’s lawsuit paints a picture of a hostile work environment under Ogundeyi’s leadership. She alleges he made disparaging remarks about female employees, publicly humiliated two female colleagues during a December 2023 strategy retreat, and described them as “low class” for their lack of exposure to luxury. She further claims that Ogundeyi encouraged a culture of fear, stating that employees “see him as God” and are “afraid to approach him.” Kuda, which has a registered UK entity, confirmed Hewat had filed a lawsuit, but declined to comment on the allegations. “In line with our current policy and out of respect for privacy, we do not comment on matters of this nature involving current or former employees,” the company’s spokesperson wrote in an email to TechCabal. Hewat also declined requests for comments. A key point in Hewat’s lawsuit involves her employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs). She claims Kuda failed to honour a contractual agreement to grant her shares at the Series A price, instead offering them at the higher Series B valuation, while a male colleague, Steven Bastian, had his terms adjusted to reflect the more favourable Series A price. According to the lawsuit, Ogundeyi justified this discrepancy by stating that Bastian’s role as Group CFO was “more important” than Hewat’s. Hewat alleges that she was systematically sidelined after raising concerns about these issues. She was excluded from a key strategy meeting in January 2023 despite her role as the company’s top HR executive. Over time, Pavel Khristolubov, Kuda’s group chief operating officer, allegedly took over aspects of her job while harassing and undermining her. Ogundeyi allegedly dismissed her concerns when she complained, telling her to “spend the next six months getting Khristolubov to like her.” Her dismissal came soon after she filed a formal grievance about the ESOP issue in December 2023. On February 20, 2024, she was fired while en route to an executive retreat in Nigeria. She alleges that her dismissal was sudden and unjustified and that Kuda attempted to frame it as redundancy without following any selection criteria. Despite this, her role remained within the company, with other employees expected to take over her responsibilities. Adding to the contradictions, Kuda’s chief technical officer, Mutairu Mustapha, reportedly told her the termination was a “mistake” and urged her to return to work. Kuda has not publicly responded to the allegations. However, Ogundeyi allegedly cited cost-cutting measures as a reason for Hewat’s dismissal, pointing to the sharp devaluation of the naira in 2024. Hewat disputes this claim, arguing that the company continued discretionary spending, including employing a nanny for Ogundeyi’s children at Kuda’s expense. Hewat’s lawsuit alleged these events took a toll on her mental and physical health, citing depression, panic attacks, and insomnia. She is seeking financial compensation for lost benefits, emotional distress, and punitive damages for what she describes as egregious misconduct. The exact compensation Hewat is demanding is not specified in court documents.
