Wike Boasts For Facilitating The Return Of Fasasi As Tinubu’s CSO

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike reportedly boasting around his political allies, claiming to have defeated all those who got Adegboyega Fasasi removed as Chief Security Officer (CSO) to President Bola Tinubu.

The Department of State Service (DSS) at the weekend announced the replacement of Fasasi as Chief Security Officer (CSO) to President Bola Tinubu. He was immediately replaced by Rasheed Atanda Lawal, a Deputy Director.

Tension Arise As Thugs Invade Former Federal Lawmaker’s Residence In Imo

The residence of Frank Ibezim, a former federal lawmaker from Imo State, Nigeria’s South-East, has been attacked by some hoodlums.

Reports revealed that the incident occurred on the night of Monday in Nsu, a locality within the Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State.

LeadNaija reports that Ibezim served as the Imo North District’s representative on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform from 2021 to 2023.

It was, however, gathered that the residence of the former lawmaker was engulfed in flames around 9 p.m. yesterday, with sources indicating that the senator was not present at the time the incident happened.

BREAKING: Police Inspector Arrested After Stabbing Resident For N200 Bribe

A police inspector, Mohammed Bulama, has been arrested for allegedly stabbing a resident, Abdulmalik Pompomari, to death in Damaturu, Yobe State.

The incident reportedly occurred at the CMC Area, Zango, Damaturu, on Sunday around 5:05 pm.

According to multiple sources, Inspector Bulama, who is attached to the Police Mobile Force (PMF) 41 Division, demanded a N200 bribe from Pompomari.

When Pompomari refused, Bulama allegedly attacked him with a knife, stabbing him in the neck and chest.

The state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed the incident and stated that the Commissioner of Police, Garba Ahmed, has ordered an investigation into the case.

“The two were involved in a heated argument over a transaction, which escalated into a fight. Bulama stabbed Pompomari in the chest, and the suspect also sustained head injuries during the altercation,” Abdulkarim explained.

He added that they want the detainees released before the day (Tuesday) ends.

He said if, by the end of the day, their demands are not met, the next line of action would be unveiled.

“We are asking the Federal Government to release every detained protester whether in Kaduna, Abuja, Katsina or Kano. The Federal Government should release them today.

“If by the end of today, the FG did not release the EndBadGovernance protesters and EndSars people..some of end SARS people in 2020. We will tell you the next line of action,” he said.

The human rights activist cum politician also stated that the protesters are struggling for a new independence.

According to him, the 1960 independence obtained from colonial masters is different. Sowore explained that what they are fighting for now is the independence of the citizens from the clutches of the ruling class, who have turned into corrupt cabals and looters.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has approved construction of a modern psychiatric hospital in Obi Akpor Local Government Area.

Nyesom Wike, Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), his estranged godfather is from Rumuepirikom in Obio-Akpor.

Both Wike and Fubara have been at crossroads over the control of Rivers State, with the minister accusing the governor of turning his back against those who helped him to the top.

Speaking at a reception organized for him by a group, the Ijaw Peoples Assembly, in Port Harcourt, on Saturday, Wike boasted that when the time comes, he would teach Fubara and his supporters a big lesson in the state.

He said: “Imagine in Rivers they are contemplating of APP. It is not about money. Money does not move. You can have all the money but if there is no capacity there is no capacity.

“All the things you see are people envious of our growth. We have defeated them severally and if opportunity comes again, we will defeat them We have not started politics, when the time comes, we will play politics. Our job is politics. But responding at the Inter-denominational Church Thanksgiving Service organised as part of activities marking the 64th Independence Day Celebration of Nigeria at St. Paul’s Cathedral of the Anglican Communion at Garrison Junction, Port Harcourt, on Sunday, Fubara said what he did in one year outweighed the performance of his opponents in 8 years.

“They even say, they don’t know what we are doing. Let me remind them, it is Fubara that signed the paper to borrow from Zenith Bank the N200billion for the construction of the Port Harcourt Ring Road. So, it is my project. It is Fubara that awarded the Trans-Kalabari Road that they couldn’t do. They did only a bridge from Krakrama, but I am the one doing it: the complete span, and it is N225billion. I didn’t borrow.

“It is this same Fubara that is building a General Hospital, which I also included a Psychiatric Hospital because they will need it very soon. So, tell them that what I did in one year is what they did in 8 years. It is only empty container that makes noise. If God has given you opportunity, eat your plantain and keep quiet. God will continue to give us the strength to do the best for our people, without fear.

“Very soon, you will see what we are doing. It is not about doing roads to your business interest. I don’t have any business interest. Whatever I am doing, I am doing it for the people of Rivers State. We will not take any decision that we cannot defend. We won’t be part of anything that will bring any form of disgrace to our dear State. This State is important to us. It is the only thing that we have.

“It is the beautiful pride. That is why they are struggling, coupled with the improvement in Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) we have done. That is why they are struggling, we know. But, do it with modesty, you don’t need to destroy the house.”

Fubara said if his opponents continue to deride the grace of God on his life, they will continue to struggle for public recognition or approval.

He said his policy in office is not to embark on “mere jamboree” of groundbreaking for projects but assured that any project started will be inaugurated and actually put to public use.

Nigeria Senate to receive N6.6 trillion supplementary budget from Tinubu

Nigeria’s inflation rate surged to 33.95% , Things Are Improving – Presidency

Despite the country’s inflation rate soaring to 33.69%, the Nigerian Presidency has expressed optimism that the situation is improving, contrary to reports of a “staggering” increase.


Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, made this known in a recent interview with Television Continental (TVC).

Onanuga pointed out that the inflation rate has decreased slightly on a month-to-month basis, indicating a positive trend. He also stated that food prices have been dropping and will continue to decline across the country, contrary to reports of a sharp increase.

“I read a report recently saying inflation has moved to a staggering 33.69%. How is it staggering? Last month in April, inflation was 33.4 something. Then it moved by a mere 0.26%.

“In fact, from March to April, inflation slowed down. So things are improving. People will soon begin to feel the impact of all these reductions.

“I had a call from my town a few days ago, with someone telling me the price of garri is going down. Inflation is on a reduction level. And it’ll continue to go down,” Onanuga said.

According to Onanuga, President Tinubu is working tirelessly to implement measures that will cushion the effects of the federal government’s reforms on citizens.

He cited the introduction of a student loan scheme as one of the initiatives aimed at supporting students and their parents.

The Presidency also stressed that the current economic challenges were inherited, with inflation already at 23.65% before President Tinubu assumed office.

“This government when it came in May last year, inflation was at 23.65%. The movement from there till now is about 10.4%.

Labour Congress Fires Back at Governors over ‘Hypocritical’ Stance on Minimum Wage

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has warned state governors advocating for the decentralisation of salaries, calling their proposal hypocritical and contradictory to the centralized nature of their own salaries.


The disclosure was made by NLC President Joe Ajaero during the 112th International Labour Conference in Geneva.

The NLC president argued that if governors want decentralised salaries for workers, they should first accept decentralised salaries for themselves from the Federal Government.

The governors’ proposal, aimed at allowing states to determine salaries based on their financial capabilities and economic realities, has been met with resistance from the NLC, which fears it could lead to disparities in worker wages across the country and undermine national standards for worker welfare.

He said, “Is it the source of payment? Is it coming from their purse? What are they saying, because minimum wage is like having a uniform law in the country?

“Are they now saying give us the right to run a kind of confederate system of government or permission to run a unitary system of government so that whatever we generate we spend it?”

Edo Governorship Election: Obidient Movement Declare Support For PDP’s Asue Ighodalo

Ahead of the Edo State governorship election, a faction of the socio-political group, Obidient Movement, has declared its support for Asue Ighodalo, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Most Of Nigerians In Public And Private Organisations Uses Fake Certificates - FG Unveil

The Federal Government has disclosed that there is the possibility that some Nigerians working in public and private organisations are parading fake educational certificates.

The Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, expressed this concern while receiving an inter-ministerial committee report on illegitimate academic degrees at his office on Friday, May 3, 2024.

The Federal Government had tasked the committee to investigate the activities of over 100 private universities and their counterparts in Benin Republic, Togo and other countries in reaction to an investigative report by a Daily Nigerian journalist.

The report exposed how some degree mills took advantage of the laxity in the Nigerian system to get away with their actions.

However, Mamman expressed sadness over the discoveries during the investigation, noting that the ministry would collaborate with relevant agencies to instil sanity in the education sector and rid it of fake tendencies.

“We can’t afford to have the integrity of our education swayed by a few people.

“It is possible that some are carrying fake certificates in public and private organisations and need to be flushed out. This report is the product of a thorough investigation.

“It is sad that someone who should come out of a Nigerian institution with a 2:1 or 2:2 is now parading an international certificate of first class.

According to the source, the amount of N2.2 trillion that was looted is similar to the combined budgets of Lagos State and the South-East states for 2024, totaling N2.25 trillion and N2.29 trillion respectively. This figure exceeds the budgets of the North-Central states and North-East states for 2024, which are N1.89 trillion and N1.60 trillion, by several billion.

The EFCC is currently investigating, probing, and prosecuting 58 ex-governors from various regions of the country. Since the restoration of civilian government on May 29, 1999, there have been at least 170 governors serving in the 36 states of Nigeria.

The 58 ex-governors who are currently or have previously faced investigations by EFCC, with alleged amounts in question, consist of:

Gas Explosion Rocks Lagos Community, Pregnant woman, Others Hospitalised

A yet-to-be-identified pregnant woman has suffered a serious injury, alongside eight others following a gas explosion that occurred at Alaba Lane, Alayabiagba Community, in the Ajegunle-Apapa area of Lagos State.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at about 12:39 p.m.

Confirming the incident to our correspondent, the Head of Public Education, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Amodu Shakiru said the preliminary inquiry revealed that several different gas cylinders that were traded in the area had one that was set off by a possible leak that broke a high-tension cable and started a fire.

According to him, the fire destroyed four commercial tricycles, six lock-up stores, and a portion of a bungalow building.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that several various gas cylinders traded within the neighbourhood have one triggered by a leakage leading to the snapping of a high-tension cable and resultant fire.

“Four commercial tricycles, six lock-up shops, and a bungalow part of the properties were razed down while salvaging adjoining structures, including a major fuel service station,” Shakiru said.

He stated that the Federal Fire Service, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, and the fire stations in Ajegunle and Sari-Iganmu quickly contained the incident.

Shakiru noted that the pregnant woman and the other victims were receiving treatment at the Gbagada Burn & Trauma Centre and Ajeromi General Hospital following initial care provided by the Lagos State Ambulance Service.

He added, “However, nine people reportedly suffered different degrees of burn injury, including a pregnant woman, children, and adults, male and female, who are recuperating at the Ajeromi General Hospital and Gbagada Burnt & Trauma Centre after some first aid by the Lagos State Ambulance Service.

The 14-year-old boy died in hospital after the Tuesday, April 30, 2024 attack, in which four other people, including two police officers, were injured.

The victim’s mother was a teacher at Holy Family Catholic School in Waltham Forest.

The suspect is now in police custody, the Met has said.

The 36-year-old man, pictured with a beard and wearing a yellow hooded jumper, was arrested on suspicion of murder.

Immediately after his arrest he was taken to hospital due to the injuries from when he crashed his van into a fence.

The force said they had “so far” found no previous police contact with the suspect.

The Metropolitan Police on Wednesday, released the first image of Daniel, a student at Bancroft's School in Woodford Green.

His family are being supported by specialist officers as detectives continue their investigation at pace.

Detective Chief Inspector Larry Smith, leading the investigation into the attack, said: “This is an incredibly tragic incident that has resulted in a young boy losing his life and his family devastated. On behalf of the family, I would ask that their privacy is respected.”

The headteacher of the school attended by Daniel Anjorin has said in a message to parents the boy was a “much-loved” pupil.

Simon Marshall, who took over Bancroft’s School in 2016, told parents it is “scarcely believable” that the school is facing “fresh sorrow”, less than a year after the former pupil Grace O’Malley-Kumar was killed in the Nottingham attacks.

In a note seen by the BBC, he said: “I had been intending to write to you once the news has become public, but I understand that many within our community may already be aware of events yesterday.

"It is therefore with great sadness and shock that I am writing to inform you of the tragic death of Daniel Anjorin, one of our pupils. Our thoughts and prayers at this moment are with Daniel’s family and friends.”

It added that “it seems scarcely believable that less than a year on from the terrible death of Grace O’Malley-Kumar in the Nottingham attacks we are facing fresh sorrow”

A woman tried to warn Daniel Anjorin about the man wielding a sword before he was fatally stabbed but he did not hear because he had headphones on.

Aiste Dabasinskaaite told ITV she was confronted by the man but managed to run away despite him putting his foot on hers so she couldn’t back off.

She said the man asked her for the address of the area they were in.

“Once I told the address, he sort of moved closer towards me, he put his foot on my foot so I couldn’t back off and then that’s when he like drew out the sword. It was arm’s length. It was honestly petrifying. I just ran down the road, I didn’t even look back to see if he was chasing me," he said.

She then tried to warn Daniel: “My instinct was to shout and wave at him, which is what me and another neighbour did but because he had just his headphones on I don’t think he heard either of us

"It was sort of a moment where we just went from shouting to just blankness, just felt empty. You wouldn’t think that would happen on your doorstep.”

A friend said Daniel was a “very good person” who loved maths and Arsenal FC.

Cyan Thompson, 19, told the Independent that people “couldn’t help but smile” whenever Daniel walked into the room.

“He was a very good person on his way to school and then some random person did that. For what purpose? My friend was supposed to go with him to school but forgot something at home and had to go back. He expected to see him in class. His mum won’t let him out of the house now."

He added: “I’m way older but Daniel was better than me at maths. I was planning on playing football with him later today. But that’s not going to happen

“He was like a prime Messi, he could get past me very easily. He was small but very jinky. He was a very determined guy. I support Man City, he supports Arsenal, it was a good rivalry. You couldn’t help but smile when he walked into the room."

In a statement, the Met Police said the suspect struck a 33-year-old m when he crashed his van into a property on Laing Close around 07:00 BST on Tuesday. He then attacked the man, leaving him with a wound to the neck.

Another man, 35, suffered lacerations to his arm when he was attacked inside a nearby house.

Their conditions are not considered to be life-threatening, police said.

The suspect then went on to attack Daniel.

Ondo State: “Akeredelu Burial Will Not Be A Gloomy Affair” – Aiyedatiwa

Ondo State governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has hinted on plans for the burial of former governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

Akeredolu died at a German hospital last month after a protracted battle with prostrate cancer.

According to Governor Aiyedatiwa, the burial of the late former Governor Rotimi Akeredolu won’t be a gloomy affair but a celebration of life.

Aiyedatiwa disclosed this while receiving the new Vice Chancellor of Elizade University, Ilara- Mokin, Prof Kayode Ipadunola, in Akure.

Aiyedatiwa, also said Akeredolu would be given a state burial, adding that his family is being awaited for further briefing on the burial rites.

A new book on former President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed how prominent pastors vigorously campaigned and prayed for him to lose the 2015 election and progressed from there to pray against him and his government after he won the poll and assumed office as Nigeria’s leader.

The book, written by Buhari’s former Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, chronicles the hordes of vicious rhetoric and hate campaigns which the men of God orchestrated against Buhari and his government right from the time he signified interest in contesting the election.

The book recalls how former President Goodluck Jonathan opened the floodgate of church mobilisation against Buhari by visiting and speaking in many churches ahead of the 2015 election so as to win against Buhari, thereby setting the tone for many pastors to use and attack Buhari.

“Before the 2015 presidential poll, the then President Jonathan went church-hopping. He visited most major congregations, secretly campaigning for votes and generating hatred for the APC candidate. In fact, there is one Pastor Emmanuel who recorded a widely circulated audio tape, describing the APC as a Muslim/Jihadist party, and its candidate a precursor of the anti-Christ. Horrendous!” the writer notes.

“Buhari still won the election, but a disgruntled army had been mobilised against him. Another mass of Armageddon. Prejudiced preachers and congregations with scant knowledge of the word of God. They just follow their leaders unquestioningly, not like the Bereans Christians as mentioned in the Acts of the Apostles in Chapter 17.

“A good number of preachers displayed blatant hostility against the Buhari government. Even when they went prophetic, and hit the crossbar, they still continued to parade themselves as somebody, instead of suiting in sackcloth and ashes.

“Bishop… had arrayed himself against Buhari before the election. Indeed, he was on tape as instructing members to kill any Fulani they saw near the church. Jesus sure wouldn’t say that, would He?

“There is a story, on good authority, of a meeting convened of top Christian leaders by Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye at the Redeemed Christian Church of God Campground, off Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. It was shortly before the 2015 presidential poll.

“A renowned pastor at the meeting told me that Pastor Adeboye asked the preachers if any of them had a word from God on the forthcoming election. Bishop O… was said to have stood up, and pontifically declared that God told him President Goodluck Jonathan would win. Another pastor was said to have indicated support for the then President Jonathan, as government was going to do bid rounds for oil blocs soon, and he needed one for works of the kingdom. Fine. The election held, and you know the rest of the story. The pro-Jonathan pastors never forgave Buhari and the APC.

“Many times, one of the most prominent pastors reportedly cursed President Buhari and his government. In fact, there was a time in the first term that he declared Buhari’s time as over, that God had rejected him.

“The President not only won re-election in 2019, he also completed his second term. So much was the top pastor’s antipathy toward Buhari, that he publicly identified with former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, candidate of the PDP in the 2019 election. He forgot that Atiku was also Fulani, the breed he had asked his members to lynch, if they saw any near the church. Of course, Buhari trounced them all together.

“In June 2022, he declared the Buhari government as the most wicked and corrupt in the history of the country. Without any shred of evidence. In the process, he mixed up his facts. Months earlier, he had proclaimed seven days of fasting and prayers for the fall of Buhari, in which had been joined by two of his acolytes of Dunamis Church and Salvation Ministries. They failed because God was not in the enterprise.

N853.8bn Misappropriation; Tension As EFCC Reopened Money Laundering Cases Against 13 Former Governors, Ministers 

The EFCC has reopened money laundering cases against 13 former governors and some former ministers, with the amounts involved running into over N853.8bn.


The affected persons include two former Ekiti State governors, Kayode Fayemi and Ayo Fayose; former Zamfara State governor, Bello Matawalle; two former Enugu State governors, Chimaroke Nnamani and Sullivan Chime; former Nasarawa State governor, Abdullahi Adamu; former Kano State governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso.

Others are former Rivers State governor, Peter Odili; former Abia State governor, Theodore Orji; former Gombe State governor, Danjuma Goje; former Sokoto State governor, Aliyu Wamako; former Bayelsa State governor, Timipre Sylva; and former Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido.

Matawalle, who is currently serving as the Minister of Defence in the administration of President Bola Tinubu, is being probed for alleged N70bn money laundering; while Fayemi, who served as Minister of Solid Minerals Development in former President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet from November 11, 2015 to May 30, 2018, before resigning to contest the governorship election for his second term, is being investigated for an alleged N4bn fraud, while Fayose, a two-term governor of Ekiti State, is being investigated by the anti-graft agency for an alleged N6.9bn fraud.

Nnamani is being probed for an alleged N5.3bn fraud; Chime is being investigated over an alleged N450m campaign fraud as part of the N23bn allegedly shared by a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, while Adamu is under probe for alleged N15bn fraud.

Kwakwanso is being probed for alleged non-remittance of N10bn pension fund; Orji is being investigated over alleged N551bn money laundering; while Odili is similarly being probed for alleged N100bn fraud. It is not yet clear how the probe of the ex-Rivers State governor will be handled as he obtained an order of perpetual injunction restraining the EFCC and other security agencies from a Federal High Court in March 2008, which has not been vacated to date.
