Mayydayy: Very soon nobody will buy our oil again.we will then use it to drink garri Chill bro, is all about energy conversion and fyi, fossil fuel still takes the lead when it comes to flexibility. How do you get the electrical energy to propel the so called electric cars? Hydro is getting outdated, very little can be tapped from the solar energy directly, so what are we saying? Science is yet to discover an alternative energy source to comfortably replace fossil fuel, all these things na story. |

Mayflowa: Actually, you and OmenkaLives are not accurate. Yes the first law is inertial. And you also correct about 2nd and 3rd of Newtons. But the law demonstrated here is Newton's momentum law which culminates in F=ma (2nd law) Read through omenkalives' argument. He actually talked about Newton's law of motion when he was trying to give a reason for recoil of the can. omenkaLives: Now, if gas is expelled so fast as to propell the can itself, it means the can WILL MOVE IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION to the direction of the expulsion! If that is the case, which of the laws is he trying to invoke? Note, the second law is more concerned with acceleration being proportional to applied force (both quantities in same direction): the second law says: The rate of change of momentum is directly proportional to the applied force (in the same direction.) Of course, you can't apply push/pull in one direction and expect the effect in the opposite. The third law says: To every action force, there is equal and opposite reaction force. Now, which of these laws explains recoil? Note, this is the principle of rocket launch, air lift, ship's propulsion in water and a host of others. Note also the keywords, "opposite" |

Sensual: Slowpoke, in this situation, when I say 'assembly' or 'senate' I'm using it to generalize. If your quarter baked brain can't comprehend that, then it's not my fault. For better understanding, refer to your government notebook, if it's still in good condition, or ask google. I'm sure there's someway they can break it down for slow learners. Very empty and ignorant rants of an illiterate. An illiterate forming educated in her useless and very misleading attempt to explain bi-cameral legislature. Can you now go ahead and explain which arm of government is "higher" than the other? Illiterates parading on nairaland everywhere. And fyi, I'm in physical sciences, not social sciences. |

omenkaLives: The pictures go against everything physics! Totally impossible!
Now, for a canister to be turned into a projectile, gas has to be expelled violently from it. I'm a situation like this, which accidentally results from heating, the weakest seal edge is where tends to be compromised, and guess where that is on the comtaimer- the TOP of it!
Now, if gas is expelled so fast as to propell the can itself, it means the can WILL MOVE IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION to the direction of the expulsion! This very principle is Newton's Third law of motion!
So, tell me fellas, how come the canister is positioned in such a manner when it should be the button that should be stuck up like that?
I perfectly understand the main advice of not leaving such objects in the car under such conditions is very important, but the picture should have be PROPERLY STAGGED as well. Oga, you mixed it up, that is actually Newton's Third Law of Motion: To every action, there is equal and opposite reaction force. The first law is the law of INERTIA, while the second law is what led to F=ma. |
Car Talk › Re: Pretty Soon Electric Cars Will Cost Less Than Gasoline Driven Ones by nextprince: 8:07am On May 30, 2017 |
But even electricity is a form of energy. The issue now is, the electricity for charging whichever electric propulsion system to be adopted must be generated and in most cases, from chemical energy - fuel. Pls, forget all these solar energy stuff, very little of solar energy has been successfully converted. Hydro? Becoming outdated. Alternative to fossil fuel is still one of the greatest problems of scientists, let's stop deceiving ourselves. |

Even a new born baby knows that the Assembly is higher than the presidency. he's the president doesn't mean he got the highest authority. The highest goes to the Senate which comprises of various senators representing different parts of the country. Please don't embarrass yourself like this. Really? Actually, I never knew there is one arm of govt greater than the other, pls educate us more. Also, I used to think the NASS comprises both the senate and reps, but I have actually learnt something new today - only senate makes up NASS. If you've served or are serving, you'd know this. Will you keep quiet? Who told you "Nigeria is" can be compressed as "Nigeria's"? Who taught you English? I understand orientation is in progress, now run to the nearest orientation camp, get one of the manuals, educate yourself and stop this bare-faced display of illiteracy. So because it is pronounced that way, it should be written as such? Why don't you write the simple past of "read" as "red"? |

[s] Kennydoc: I'm Igbo but not a fan of Biafra. I prefer a prosperous Nigeria where Igbos will have the freedom to develop at their pace without being drawn back by others especially the North. I prefer Nigeria with true federalism to Biafra.
That said, I want to assure you that in the event of Nigeria's division, Urhobo cannot thrive as a nation neither can the Niger Delta stand as a country. The massive failure of Delta and Bayelsa States gives credence to the terrible leadership qualities of Niger Deltans. I mean, these states have budgets of over 250 billion naira per annum, yet there are no developmental strides to show that crazy amount flowing into the states. Again, the several minority tribes of the Niger Delta esp Delta State don't even trust themselves. Itsekiris don't trust Urhobos and Ijaws while Igbos (Aniomas) don't trust any of the other groups. Same for the Ijaws. How can you guys live as a nation? Or do you think there will be Federal Republic of Urhobo, Federal Republics of Itsekiri, Ijaw, Ikwerre etc?
By and by, the minority tribes of the Niger Delta will do better if they enter an agreement with Biafra and operate based on true federalism, in the event that Nigeria wants to divide. Any other option for them will be a terrible choice. [/s]
