Our People Are Yet To See Any Achievement Of Akeredolu – BBOL Cordinator, Akinrinlola Pastor Olumide Akinrinlola is an indigene of Ode Aye in Ondo State. He’s a Banker and a business mogul, who also engages in property consultancy. In this Interview with Akinyemi Doyinsola , he spoke on the struggle of power restoration to Ondo south l ocal Government and also analysed Political and Social Issues. Excerpts: What is BBOL, how did you start it? Bring Back Our Light, (BBOL) is a registered pressure group, an apolitical and non governmental organisation established in January 2015 by a small group of vibrant young individuals of like minds. It was formed for the purpose of uniting the people to fight injustice as regards the blackouts created in our land illegally by the Benin electricity distribution company, BEDC . It all started in my house in Okitipupa after I realised my late father was having credit balance on his last electricity bill payment after the cut off. To me, it was an avenue to fight BEDC and take them to court for illegal disconnection. I called for several meetings and with others we started it. What were the steps taken by BBOL Toward power restoration in Ondo South and what role did you play? Our steps to restore power to our communities includes but not limited to 3Cs : – First C is consultations – Second C is consolidation -The third C is Confrontation We consulted with BEDC severally. We consolidated and we later confronted them when we realised they were not serious and very insensitive to our plight . From our town hall meeting we discussed several options. Our last option was to go to court. One of our options was to write petition to NERC which today produced the little result we have seen. A petition was written to NERC on behalf of Ikale, ILAJE, Irele and Ese Odo LGA signed by those traditional rulers we nominated as signatories to our fund raising account which we opened with Ecobank after we held a town hall meeting having attendance from various LGAs. One of our committee chairman, Prince Aderehinwo whose committee was in charge of the professional aspect also signed the petition letter. The petition was submitted to NERC Office through one of our leaders, Hon. Mike Omogbehin who has also been making a lot of personal effort before he was added to BBOL. The struggle went on and in the end NERC directed BEDC to come back to our areas to resume work immediately. NERC also said that both parties should reconcile the disputed debts profile within 2weeks BEDC might have started their work. How has BBOL been getting funds for its activities? We were getting funds through voluntary donations by our participatory members. I say participatory members because not everyone on the group chat were participating. But most sincerely, the group is majorly been financed by Hon. Mike Omogbehin. He has always been in the forefront in cash or kind to us while Pastor J.T Kalejaiye of RCCG has also joined in powering the group financially. He has also been supportive to BBOL. All members of the group are also committed financially. People are known for making voluntary contributions to us. That is how God has been helping us. What is the fate of BBOL after light restoration? We pray to see BBOL as a formidable group that will produce future leaders in the political setting of Ondo State. We also pray to become a group that will volunteer to fight for the development of Ondo south after electricity is restored. Insinuations from some quarters has it that you may be interested in contesting for a political office soonest, how true or untrue is this? Well, what matter to me now is how our people in Ikale, ILAJE, Ese Odo and Okitipupa will be taken out of darkness created by BEDC. What matter to me now is how God will complete what he started because efforts are divine. Though I will not deny the fact that people have be coming to me from various political parties that I should show interest in contesting for assembly election in 2019. But to me, I keep promising them I will consult God who has the final says. Before I could dabble into contesting election, I will ask God to seek His consent. It is not about the emotions or agitations of people pushing me to so do. Though I know as a pastor, God can speak to you even through your enemy. But till then. Now, I am not in for that. May be later, if God speak to me, I may reconsider the request of my people to contest. What is your concept and basic ideology of public leadership? I am never tired of fighting for what is right and just for the people. I do not also believe you must be appointed or give a placement as a leader before assuming responsibilities. True leadership is when people take responsibility without be given the job or sent to do the job before you do what is right. That is me and the basic ideology of how leadership should be demonstrated. You see! I love leadership of development. To me, I see leadership as a way of affecting the lives of people positively and meaningfully. How will you rate the Akeredolu led government in Ondo state since inception? People said Akeredolu government is still very young and as such should not be rated. That is not correct. To me, a government above 100 days is not too young to be rated in his performance if the results are there for rating. I have not seen what the government has done that impresses me for now since they took over from Gov. Mimiko . I have not seen new project, new policies, and also, I have not seen any blue prints that define the direction of how the government is to be run under this current administration. I will want to advise the governor to sit down and draw out his plans for the people of Ondo State because they seem not to have started hitting the ground and start running .The government still has lot of times to get things right. For now, they have not gotten it right at all. There is nothing to rate now. You only rate performance base on achievement. I have not seen any achievement yet. But I believe with time, Arakunrin will give his best. What is your message to the Ikale Nation, Particularly to and her Leaders & youths? Our people in Ikale should show love to one another by giving back to their communities and help their own. We must learn how to put politics aside when it comes to development of our areas or development of our people. We must see unity as sacrosanct and unavoidable when we are yearning for development of our areas. Our leaders must think first about their people and how to develop their land before thinking about playing politics. |
RE : PMB AND THE DESCENDANTS OF SHIMEI By Olumide Akinrinlola Dear Mr. Femi Adesina, Your article with the above title refers : I so much love your story where you refer to the opposition People Democratic Party (PDP) as the biblical Shimei of our time, a biblical story you used in favour of All Progressive Congress (APC) and against the PDP. You are indeed good in selling your points to your audience ; you also know how to defend president Muhammadu Buhari at anytime and in any season. That's your job anyway, I am not surprised. Mr. Femi, in as much as I detest the free ticket PDP gave to the people to loot our treasury, APC is also the scribes and pharisees that is running down the government of president Muhammadu Buhari which you failed to acknowledged in your write ups. Those who are hell bent to pull down the government of president Buhari are more prevalent in the ruling APC than PDP. Without PDP, which is the only active opposition party to the ruling APC, Nigeria would have become a one party state, and by so doing, there will not be checks and balances if the only dissenting voice is silent in a presidential system of government like ours. But I want to tell you today that the original Shimei are in APC which Nigerians refer to as the CABALS. APC would have become a government of all- correct without the PDP. So PDP are only doing their job as opposition party. The main Shimei, which Nigerians refer to as the CABAL are the major problem of this current administration and not the PDP as painted by you. I also need to tell you sir that the same thieves and robbers in PDP during the reign of former president Goodluck Ebele Jonathan were recycled by the ruling APC to ensure the success of APC in the last presidential election .And many of them were today made member of the executive cabinet of the ruling APC. So, APC is as same as the then PDP of yesterday. Nothing has really changed between the then PDP and the present ruling APC .The majority of political actors in the then PDP under GEJ are thesame set of People today in APC who are shouting the slogan of change. Apart from the president and the vice president, the duo whom I exonerated with few other APC members including your humble self, the remaining People in your party, APC, are also the Shimei of our time. Apologies for this sir, you are correct by describing the PDP as Shimei but indeed, the opposite is true because those you referred as Shimei are now in the ruling APC which means APC or some set of APC members are the Shimei. APC does not only have Shimei, they also have scribes and pharisees within the government that is sabotaging the efforts of the president in his anti corruption crusade. They also have the hypocrites and the saboteurs. As you hope to see the Shimie in PDP disgraced, I also want to advise that you start praying for the Shimei, Scribes and Pharisees in APC to be ejected out of the villa. May God deliver us from the bondage of political parties. It is high time we started making used of independent candidacy. I appeal to the national assembly to do the needful immediately. God will save us from the Shimei, the Cabals, not only in Buhari's government but in Nigeria as a whole. Olumide Akinrinlola is the president of the council of concerned youth of Nigeria (cocyon) |
let us speak in one voice to protect the future of youths in Nigeria |
is this the proper place to place ur advert |
Breaking The Yoke of Too Young To Run By Olumide Akinrinlola We are not too young to be enrolled into the army as sacrificial lambs to fight war or combat militancy in any part of this country whenever the need arises. The youth are not too young to risk their lives, to be used as Vigilante group to curtail the high rate of insecurities in our various communities whenever we were called upon to do so. Our youth are not too young to carry out political campaign and embark on a widespread mobilisation of People across the unit level to ward level to gather support for our elders during electioneering whenever we were called upon to do so. Nigerian youth are not too young to be invited to act as political thugs to forestall election ringing in our units and various ward levels during election period. We are not too young to vote for our elders during election and defend our votes from being snatched away by election riggers and ballot box snatchers . But whenever we (the youth) make our intention known to contest for any elective position in this country, they will ask us to step down for our leaders (elders) with the erroneous belief and political statement that we are too young to run for elective offices. They see us as leaders of tomorrow. But when will our tomorrow come when our elders did not give us the chance to run for any elective office. It wasn't like this in the 80s. The yoke of too young to run wasn't there at all. Politics was participatory among the elders and the youths. Chief Anthony Enahoro was one of the younger generation who fought for the independence of Nigeria today. Who says our generation cannot do better ? It is in Nigeria's of today that a 50year old politician will be struggling with the youth to contest local government election as councilor. It is in this country people who are close to 70 years of age are running for the seat of house of assembly. I have seen under this current administration of APC led federal government where 80 years old men and above were appointed as members of executive cabinet. Our youth and the general public should not get me wrong. I am not calling for the displacement of our elders in politics. We need them. We cannot do without them. They are not our competitors. They are not our enemies. But like a friend, Obatola Jonathan recently wrote in one of his articles that our elders are our collaborators rather than competitors, I am also saying that the elders are the bodies of the engines that drive a Car in the political landscape of Nigeria. We need them like the eyes need the head to function. But all we are saying is that they (political elders) should give the youth the chance to run for political offices in this country. Nigerian youth must arise and break the yokes of too young to run by involving themselves and declaring their intentions to run for elective offices. Between 30-40 years of age, we should have become leaders of today against the saying that we are leaders of tomorrow. Nigerian youths, arise ! liberate your future from the yokes of too young to run. You are not too young to become local government Chairman. You are not too young to become member of state assembly. You are not too young to become member of national assembly. We are not too young to run for the presidential office of this land. We have the energy and synergy to do better than our fathers in office. Let us aspire to perspire for a greater higher height. Ondo south presents proof of illegal cut-off from national grid • NERC summons BEDC, others As requested by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), leaders of Ondo South district yesterday submitted evidences to substantiate their claim that the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) illegally disconnected their four local governments from the national grid. According to a statement, the indigenes, under the aegis of Bring Back Our Light (BBOL), had complained to NERC that BEDC disconnected the entire Okitipupa, Irele, Ese-Odo and Ilaje local government areas from the national grid since 2014 despite having numerous electricity consumers who are not indebted to the company and are with proof of tariff payment. Among the evidence submitted to NERC in Abuja are: • Due diligence audit report of the committee set up to review the outstanding debt owed BEDC; • Samples of outrageous estimated bills; bills for houses which were prepared after disconnection; receipts of payment to BEDC for meters yet to be supplied till today; bills showing credit balances before disconnection in 2014; and estimated bills given to customers, despite having meters Also submitted were samples of “billing register history report of communities” without electricity supply over 10 years ago.The team led by Mike Omogbehin, representing the affected areas in the House of Representatives, lamented the destruction, which the disconnection has caused to the economies of the four local governments and different means of livelihood of the people since 2014. Other members of the team include, former Chairman of Okitipupa Local Government, Solomon Bitire, who is the chairman, planning, strategies and implementation committee of BBOL; Elder S.T. Aderehinwo, a technocrat in electricity billing and chairman of Due Diligence Audit Committee on Electricity debts; and Pastor Olumide Akinrinlola, the administrator of BBOL. Following the submission of the evidence, NERC yesterday summoned a meeting of all the stakeholders, including BEDC to her office in Abuja on July 6, 2017 with a view to finding a lasting solution to the crisis. https://m.guardian.ng/news/ondo-south-presents-proof-of-illegal-cut-off-from-national-grid/ |
Political Scam, Prevalent Tools Under APC Against Opposition It is very shameful, embarrassing, and lugubrious that DSS never charge some of the Judges it alleged to have been corrupt to court and those charged to court were discharged and acquitted for lack of proof recently by competent court in Nigeria . DSS and EFCC in Nigeria under president Muhammadu Buhari administration are the major set back of president Buhari's anti corruption crusade. The two agencies of government are reasons many cases are being lost in court because of their known media hype and trial in fighting corruption . Those judges that were early suspended are not thieves base on the position of our laws since the court have discharged and acquitted them from all the corruption charges instituted against them. The court have cleared them of corruption. It is normal in the eyes of the law that the CJN recall them back to work . The threat by Prof Sagay corruption led advisory committee of this administration against the freed Judges is a waste of time. One thing is to allege that someone is a thief, another thing is to indeed proof it that the person is actually a thief. Proofing a case is the only way to know that personal or political sentiment is not attached to an allegation. It is also my opinion that those that were alleged of corruption and not arraign by the DSS are not also corrupt. If they are corrupt, and the DSS have evidences against them, they should have been arraigned accordingly, especially with the way other Judges were arraigned. The saying that NJC did not also prosecute some Judges alleged of corruption is also not correct. U see ! The judiciary has constitutional ways of dealing with corrupt judges. The normal thing to do is to first investigate and establish the facts that those indicted are indeed corrupt. Some of those alleged were indeed investigated by NJC. But were absolved of corruption because the DSS cannot substantiate the allegation of corruption with proof. Nigeria is a country where political scam is prevalent as tools to discredit anyone for the settlement of political scores. It is very prevalent under APC government especially to destroy any opposition of this government. This confirm to me that the anti corruption war was indeed design to ridicule some opposing voice to PMB's administration. Politicians and some courts that offended APC in the past are only be witchunted by this administration for their past sins . The implication of this is that the insincerity of this administration in fighting corruption had just been exposed even to international community. People have begun to doubt the anti corruption war ; and the APC - Buhari led government had since lost their integrity most especially with recent damning allegations of corruption cases hanging on the neck of some close aides of the president without any invitation or trial by EFCC or DSS till date. Some court verdicts where the government lost some corruption cases have also confirm to us that our government is not sincere in fighting corruption. If not, why has the government not arraign the SGF till today ? Where is the report of some corruption cases investigated by the presidency against some top aides of the president. If everybody under Buhari leadership is stealing our money and all the government could do as punishment to the thieves is mere suspension from work without prosecution, then how is such government fighting corruption ? How will such government have the confidence of Nigerians as anti corruption crusaders. The best is yet to come my People. Nigeria isn't a better country even under the leadership of saint Buhari. We need God's intervention. May God help us. Pst Olumide Akinrinlola |

we were deceived and being attracted with their numerous promises. they promised to give change and we hurriedly believed them cos we really need change then. but instead of change, they were chaining everything and making life difficult for the masses. what a party ! APC cannot survive 2019. i so believe |
Buhari ruled Nigeria as the head of state when he was 31years of age. General Gowon became head of state at 25years. very unfortunately, we keep admitting that we are leaders of tomorrow instead of leaders of today. youths of nowadays are seriously in the bondage of this old politicians. how could we be allowing People in their 80s to still be deciding our fate in Nigeria after they have been exhausted. why is it difficult for us as youths to rule in our 30s and early 40s. this is our generation but it is sad that our grandpas seem to have hijacked it . only God will deliver us. |
yes, 2019 is around the corner. but can our youths be trusted. hope they will not sell their birth right cos of 5000 |
Nigeria will start to move forward anytime they remember that GEJ is no longer the president for two years now. not until They take leadership responsibility, the country will remain stagnated |
APC is the worst government that ever ruled Nigeria in the history of democracy |
Two Years After, APC Refuses To Stop Blame Game Under the moderation of Ahlaji Lai Mohammed, anything goes when it comes to propaganda. I decided to hold my peace on some deceit of this present administration the very day i was reported to my employer where i received several queries for airing my views over APC abysmal performance in office after they took over from GEJ of the PDP. Sometimes ago, one of the captives of boko haram, a lady from the north confessed that chibok girls palaver was arranged .The lady confessed that everything about chibok girls was a propaganda and stage managed to discredit the then administration of former president Goodluck Jonathan ? This news went viral on social media whether counterfeit or genuine. We did not hear from this lady some weeks after. Probably she has been silent with threats to her life or whisked outside the country by those who felt threatened by her revelations. Till today, Many turned a deaf ear to this damning allegation and no one is asking questions about it. APC - a political party built on deceit and propaganda rode into power with lot of unrealistic promises to advocate for our votes. They however denied some of their electoral promises and reneged on so many of them. Apart from having experts who are very good in propaganda, APC is also very good in silencing their critics with threat to their jobs or threat of DSS and the police. The last time I wrote a story titled : "APC and the scam of change", an article that went viral on social media, I was reported to my church General Overseer ,who hurriedly summoned me to the church headquarter in Lagos thru the Assistant General Overseer on Administration because some media houses added the title of a pastor and name of my church to the story when such was published. That is a good example of how far APC could go to silent any of their critics scoring them very low while evaluating some of their electoral promises in case they have no means of using EFCC against you. They hate criticism and they do not want any opposition to criticise whatever policies they are making whether bad or good. There are lot of unbelievable revelations concerning this chikbok girls saga. One needs to just keep quite because of the unhealthy situation of investigative journalism in Nigeria. The wickedness done to GEJ by APC all in the name of winning elections and how they discredit the personality of the man was very high. APC as a political party has presence on all social media in Nigeria. They are very good in scamming. They always use scam and propaganda to cover up their weaknesses and non performance. The cost of garri, pupuru and other food items have become unaffordable and unbearable by Nigerians. Ask them why we are in recession? they will say it is because PDP has done more harm than good and ruin Nigeria for 16years . Ask them again whether it is the PDP who increased electricity tariff and the magical increase of pump price of petrol from 86 naira to 145 naira per litre, they will tell you it was due to subsidy removal. Ask them to explain why the price was so high despite having the price of crude oil per barrel being sold for N50, they will say Nigeria is broke, so the government needs to generate revenue not minding the adverse effect on the citizenry. Ask them why they introduced N50 tax into the banking industry on every deposit of N1,000 above, they will only tell you that overdependent on oil revenue is not healthy for Nigeria, they need to raise money from you and I while they refuse to cut government spending to reduce cost of governance. Ask them why there is dollar cabal under this current administration with different exchange rate in the system, they will tell you that president Buhari is fighting corruption. They are known for using excuses to cover up their non performance. Lai Mohammed will always tell us that GEJ refused to save for the rainy days when price of crude oil was high. I could remember that OBJ had replied them repeatedly on this by saying he met the price of crude oil at N20 during his time without much money in the treasury and yet, he never complain or shift blames . After 2years of APC government, there is nothing to write home about. APC is not better than PDP. Hence, why our youths must take their destiny with their hands. We must come together in one accord to change the change. It's not bad at all to float a political party or dominate a political party since independent candidacy is not allowed. Nigerian youths, arise ! By Pst Olumide Akinrinlola |

Ondo communities to restore power after three years Communities in the four local government areas of Ondo Southern District have resolved to restore electricity by themselves after three years of blackout. A group, Bring Back Our Light (BBOL), is championing the move to restore power supply in the communities. Residents of Ilaje, Okitipupa, Irele and Ese-Odo local government areas with over 2,000 communities have been in darkness since 2014, following the disconnection of the areas from the national grid by the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) for alleged indebtedness. At a meeting in Okitipupa, the communities agreed to raise funds after opening an account, with four traditional rulers from each of the local government areas, as signatories. BBOL’s Coordinator Akinrinlola Olumide said the monarchs include the Amapetu of Mahin, Oba Lawrence Omowole (Ilaje); Jegun of Idepe, Oba Michael Adetoye (Okitipupa); Oba Thomas Adesayo, the Ahaba of Ajagba (Irele) and Oba Adeniyi Ajayi, Gbaluwe of Igbotu (Ese Odo). He said their inclusion as signatories would guarantee accountability. Olumide said the communities would use the money to defray their indebtedness to BEDC through the committees expected to work with the traditional rulers. The coordinator sought the support of indigenes of for financial assistance, adding that levies and collections would be collected house to house, offices and concerned parties, in accordance with the rules on electricity consumption. He said BEDC agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the residents to begin immediate repairs of the damaged facilities immediately the stakeholders paid up to 20 per cent of the total debt to aid restoration of electricity. http://thenationonlineng.net/ondo-communities-restore-power-three-years/ |
if it continues like this, I don't think APC can get any votes from Ondo State people come 2019 |
but why the marginalisation when people of Ondo State actually voted him as president. the leaders in Ondo State should wake up. they must visit Abuja and talk the talk. pmb is not God. |
Appointment : What Offence Has Ondo APC Committed? I am not a member of the All Progressive People's Party, APC, neither am I an apologist of the said party in Ondo State. But as a patriot, a progressive, a concerned citizen of this state, I can't just hide my feelings over some recent federal appointments made so far by President Muhammadu Buhari led administration whereby people from Ondo State were not included or being marginalised. From the very day president Buhari started releasing some appointments the moment he assumed office as the president of Nigeria, Ondo State APC has been suffering from appointment peripheral and the party had suffered a major set back in getting their wallet share of federal appointment under President Buhari despite their contribution to the victory of the party in the last presidential election that took place across the country in 2015. It all started from the appointment of a minister. Ondo State did not make the first list even as one of the oil producing states in Nigeria, contributing 70% revenues of this country. When such appointment was eventually made, our state was treated as being insignificant. The president gave us a junior minister who does not have any power to unilaterally take decision affecting his ministry. Prof Daramola Omoyele was appointed as minister of state for the ministry of Niger Delta - a ministry that still has a substantive minister in charge of the day to day administration of the ministry. As if Ondo State committed an offence, we were recently omitted from the list of career ambassadorial nominees with the excuse that our dear sunshine state did not have a qualified indigene in the federal civil service that could be appointed as career ambassador. If not for the rumpus and agitations of other few affected states, the president wouldn't have reopened the chapter of reconsidering politicians for such important positions. Just two weeks ago, the president appointed board members for agencies and parastatals, over 25 agencies and parastatals were affected, no single member of Ondo State APC was included in all the appointment made. Nobody from Ondo state, whether politician, Civil servant or technocrat was able to make the list either by luck or appointment error. What offence has Ondo State APC committed? I hereby use this medium to appeal to the leaders of the party in Ondo State especially the executive governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu to do something urgently by visiting the president in Abuja to address this political imbalance appointment. This lopsidedness must be corrected before all vacancies are filled. I so advised. Olumide Akinrinlola writes from Akure, Ondo State. |
A fresh move has begun to restore electricity supply to four local councils in Ondo south district that were disconnected from the national grid since 2014 by the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) over alleged indebtedness. In the vanguard of the latest effort is a voluntary group, Bring Back Our Light (BBOL), which convened a meeting of stakeholders from the affected Okitipupa, Irele, Ilaje and Ese-Odo local councils where far-reaching resolutions on the issue were made. The stakeholders expressed worry that the stoppage of electricity supply has destroyed the economies of the Ondo south which is the industrial base of the state. The situation has made artisans, institutions and others who depend solely on electricity supply to have no means of livelihood since 2014 thereby increasing the level of criminality, social vices and poverty in the affected communities. A statement issued at the end of the meeting held in Okitipupa reads in part: “We have agreed that certain amount of money will be paid to defray our indebtedness to BEDC and payment modalities shall be handled by sub-committees to be set up in furtherance of the said objectives. “The BEDC should stop manipulating the bills of innocent electricity consumers, and as a matter of urgency make pre-paid meters available to them. All electricity cables and poles affected by rainstorm should be immediately restored at no cost to the consumers. BEDC officials should not depend on outdated styles of meter readings because from available information, dilapidated, abandoned and uncompleted houses were estimated and added to the bills of these communities The statement was signed by Chairman, communique drafting committee of BBOL, Prof. Francis Igbasan and other members of the group, Barristers Dayo Akindejoye, Bayo Akin-Akinsola, Mr. Ayodele Adeolu and Olumide Akinrinlola In his speech at the forum, Chairman of the Planning Committee of the group, Solomon Bitire lamented that the affected councils were disconnected from the national grid without any warning or information, putting 400, 000 electricity consumers into total darkness for about three years now. Previous efforts by traditional rulers and opinion leaders to interface with officials of BEDC for thorough reconciliation of the disputed bills of the local government areas affected towards ensuring restoration of electricity failed. SPEECH OF THE CHAIRMAN, PLANNING COMMITTEE OF BRING BACK OUR LIGHT GROUP, HON. SOLOMON BITIRE, ON THE OCCASION OF TOWN HALL MEETING ORGANISED TO RESTORE ELECTRICITY TO AFFECTED COMMUNITIES CUT OFF FROM THE NATIONAL GRID BY BENIN ELECTRICITY DISTRIBUTION COMPANY, TODAY APRIL 1, 2017 AT OKITIPUPA TOWN HALL, OKITIPUPA, ONDO-STATE Protocols, I am honoured to be appointed by Bring Back Our Light (BBOL) as chairman planning committee that organised this historic occasion. In December 2014, 6 local government areas of Ondo South senatorial district were cut off from the national grid since by Benin Electricity Distribution Company. The company, BEDC, one-sidedly disconnected electricity supply from Okitipupa local government, Ilaje, Irele, Ese Odo, Odigbo, and part of IleOluji\Oke-Igbo local governments (Oke-Igbo precisely) without any warning or information before such unilateral disconnection was implemented. This singular action put over 400, 000 electricity consumers into total darkness for the past 2 years now. There were series of troubleshooting by stakeholders, ranging from various pressure groups (BBOL inclusive), religious leaders, prominent citizens, and traditional rulers which made BEDC to come out later and alleged that all affected local governments were disconnected due to non-payment of electricity bills (pre and post BEDC era). They gave the indebtedness of each local government excluding Odigbo LGA who had already found a way out as follows: 1. Okitipupa LGA - N598, 863,151.79k 2. Irele LGA - N99, 867,216.47k 3. Ese Odo LGA - N48, 865,693.74k 4. Ilaje LGA - N61, 082,117k During this period, I was the interim chairman of Okitipupa LG. Myself and other stakeholders, disagreed with the figures (electricity bills) against Okitipupa LGA. Base on this, I constituted a 9 member due diligence audit Committee, chaired by Mr. S.T Aderehinwo, a former staff of PHCN and an expert in electricity billing, to study, examine, analyze, authenticate or disprove the claims of indebtedness against electricity consumers under Okitipupa LGA. The committee came out with the following findings: 1. Consumers whose Meters were functioning were billed on constant Estimation. 2. Consumers who had paid for meters, but whose meters were not supplied were billed on continuous coding and direct billing system. 3. BEDC added the outstanding debt incurred by BEDC offices and substations to the outstanding debt/bill of Okitipupa LGA for settlement. 4. Some consumers’ bills were embarrassingly exorbitant. 5. Some consumers were not from Okitipupa LGA but their bills/debts were subsumed into Okitipupa LGA. 6. Consumers who were not indebted to BEDC were disconnected in December 2014. 7. Some consumers had credit balance but were disconnected by BEDC. 8. Some communities in the LGA that have not enjoyed electricity supply since 2005 were billed, and such bills were added to the indebtedness of our communities by BEDC. 9. Some buildings were demolished by rainstorm or some other disaster since 1992, rebuilt 2005, but had not been reconnected to public electricity supply, were billed for consuming public electricity power supply. The Committee, after thorough and painstaking audit, found that the actual amount of money owed BEDC by consumers in the local government area was one hundred and thirteen million, five hundred and fifty nine thousand, three hundred and fifty-one Naira, eighty two kobo (N113, 559,351.82). The other 3 affected local governments that is, Irele, Ilaje and Ese Odo local governments also set up similar committees in their respective local governments. Expectedly, similar anomalies, were discovered by the committees. Today, we now have one harmonized report of a reconciled electricity bills as it affects each local governments. From the due diligence audit report of outstanding debts as reviewed by affected local governments, our acceptable electricity bills are: 1. Okitipupa LGA - N113, 559,351.83k 2. Irele LGA - N38, 867,216.47k 3. Ilaje LGA - N12, 216, 423.43k 4. Ese Odo - N9, 773,138.75k Total debt is put at: N174, 416,130.47 Though BEDC did not accept or reject these figures, but they could not however fault this report up till date. We have done a breakdown of our figures as it affects various communities in OKITIPUPA LGA as shown in the table below. S\N TOWN/ COMMUNITY PRE- PRIVATISATION BILLS (N) POST PRIVATISATION BILLS(N) TOTAL AMOUNT (N) 1 OKITIPUPA 33,614,387.16 35,059,694.38 68,674,081.54 2 ERINJE 5,711,072.47 2,634,554.02 8,345,626.49 3 ODE AYE 7,662,591.24 7,911,156.39 15,273,747.63 4 IKOYA 3,187,178.68 2,621,369.89 5,808,548.57 5 ILUTITUN 6,258,718.71 6,001,848.33 12,260,567.04 6 IGBODIGO 2,100,639.13 1,096,141.42 3,196,780.55 TOTAL 58,324,587.39 55,324,764.43 113,559.351.82 Some communities like Igbotako and others in Okitipupa LGA were excluded from this template because they were not using electricity from time immemorial. Having said this, I will like to introduce Bring Back Our Light Group (BBOL) to you – the pressure group that organized this town hall meeting. BBOL as a vibrant pressure group in Okitipupa local government, amongst several others started the campaign for the restoration of electricity back to our Division by all lawful means to fight the course of justice sometimes in 2015. BBOL was founded in 2015 by few, vibrant and articulate young men and women with a genuine passion to restore electricity back to our various local governments. Pst Olumide Akinrinlola was appointed coordinator of the group being the originator of the idea. Just last year, December 2016 precisely, this young man, Pst Akinrinlola, was auburn and encouraged by some of his friends and associates on social media that the struggle to restore electricity to our communities must continue. Pst Olumide Akinrinlola further succeeded by creating a social media account, “WhatsApp,” in the name of BRING BACK OUR LIGHT to bring together all political office holders from ward level to federal level, serving and former political office holders, some religious leaders, some royal fathers, prominent citizens, committed residents, business moguls, our sons and daughters in diaspora where we engaged ourselves in intellectual discussions and proffers solution on how to restore electricity and also ensure that consumers are adequately protected from extortion and illegal metering. We all agreed in one accord that the best solution is to raise money and offset our indebtedness or a reasonable part of it as honest commitment. We reached out to many of our sons and daughters who are not on WhatsApp to create such social media account since that is the quickest way of robbing minds together simultaneously. Those who sent their WhatsApp number were added immediately by our administrator (pst Akinrinlola). And those who were not online were properly briefed through phone conversation and visitations. The resolution taken on this platform by our people necessitated this town hall meeting today. I must also commend all the stakeholders, various groups, religious leaders, all the council chairmen, our royal fathers and everyone who have one way or the other fought for the course of justice to restore electricity to our land. But permit me to appreciate Hon. Mike Omogbehin, an original Ikale man, for his effort so far on this electricity struggles. Recently, he facilitated a fruitful stakeholders meeting of our leaders, royal fathers, prominent citizens with the honourable minister of power, works and housing, Babatunde Fashola in Abuja. You are all aware that Fashola visited Omotosho power plant recently as part of the fulfilment of his promises during the last meeting held with him in Abuja. Upon his visit to Omotosho, Fashola has given assurances that Omotosho community will be connected to the power plant by April, this month, while he promised to work on the extension of such connection to other communities thereafter. I can’t but inform the house that the current chairman of Okitipupa LG, Pst Larry Ogunmusire has been so wonderful over this electricity struggle. He hardly sleeps over his engagement with our royal fathers, BEDC officials, to find a lasting solution to this virus which has given rooms for criminal activities in our land. We appreciate you sir, Pst Larry, for the roles you are playing, especially for series of travelling and engagements you had had with BEDC, government officials and all relevant stakeholders to make your people smile again. Kabiyesis, Kade pe lori, ki bata pe lese. Ki irunkere di Abere. You are all wonderful. We thank you for your support and effort so far. God will be with you all. Ladies and gentlemen, BBOL is working with our people both home and abroad, we have mobilized and discussed with successful children of our land to raise substantial part of this money to support our people in settling our outstanding indebtedness to BEDC We agreed in our meeting that an account will be opened for the fund raising exercise across all affected local governments in the name of this group while one kabiyesi, one religious leader and one member of BBOL who are residents of various local governments will be signatories to the account. BBOL Planning committee had also inaugurated a communique drafting committee who have taken responsibility of taken minutes and writing of all the resolutions that will be taken here today. It is our hope that some of our sons and daughters in government and other prominent business men and women in all the affected LGA will do something at the end of this meeting. As you all know, while fund raising is ongoing, we need intermediate funds to pay part of our debts so that BEDC will come to site to start repair of damaged facilities. I thank all members of the planning committee for the good job. I also thank the house for the audience granted me. BBOL welcome you all to this meeting. Long live Ondo South! Long live Ondo State! Long live all members of BBOL |
COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF A TOWN HALL MEETING ON THE RESTORATION OF ELECTRICITY TO THE FOUR (4) LOCAL GOVERNMENTS IN THE SOUTHERN SENATORIAL DISTRICT OF ONDO STATE ON 1ST APRIL, 2017 AT IDEPE TOWN HALL, IDEPE-OKITIPUPA Since December, 2014, four (4) Local Governments from Ondo Southern Senatorial District were disconnected from electricity supply by Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) being the Company that acquired both assets and liabilities of Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) till date. However, repeated efforts at resolving the matter with officials of BEDC to restore electricity to the affected Local Governments were not successful. Odigbo Local Government has since resolved with Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) while electricity has been restored in 2016 leaving behind Okitipupa, Irele, Ilaje and Ese-Odo Local Governments respectively. However, all efforts of our traditional Rulers and opinion leaders to interface with the officials of Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) for thorough reconciliation of disputed bills of all the four Local Government Areas affected in South Senatorial District of Ondo State in ensuring restoration of electricity and qualitative services were at naught. Consequently, the Bring Back Our Light (BBOL) Group, a non-governmental, non-partisan, voluntary and apolitical group, invited all stakeholders from Okitipupa, Irele, Ilaje and Ese-Odo Local Governments for a Town Hall meeting in Okitipupa where issues bothering/affecting power supply were extensively and exhaustively deliberated upon hence the following resolutions: Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) decision to exclude the four (4) Local Governments of Ondo South Senatorial District from enjoying regular power supply for more than three years now is totally unacceptable, condemnable and satanic. That the political class especially the attitude of the immediate past Government of Ondo State who remained unperturbed to the plight of Ondo South Senatorial District but selectively reconnected Odigbo Local Government issue is divisive and retrogressive. That the restoration of power to the affected Local Governments is a must and should be done NOW. That consequent upon this dastardly act, Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) has made artisans, institutions and others who depend solely on electricity supply to have no means of livelihood since 2014 thereby increasing the level of criminality, social vices and deepening poverty in the affected communities. Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) should stop manipulating the bills of innocent electricity consumers and as a matter of urgency make available pre-paid meters to the consumers. All electricity cables and poles affected by rainstorm should be immediately restored at no cost to the consumers because it has dire consequences to the people of the affected Local Governments. Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) should make its officials to be alive to their responsibilities by not depending on outdated styles of meter readings because from available information, dilapidated, abandoned and uncompleted houses were estimated and added to these communities. We have also agreed that certain amount of money will be paid to defray our indebtedness to Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) and payment modalities shall be handled by sub-committees to be set up in furtherance to the said objectives. That after due diligence audit report, the outstanding debts of the affected four (4) Local Governments as against Benin Electricity Distribution Company’s (BEDC) claims of about Nine Hundred Million Naira (N900,000,000.00) are as follows: S/N LOCAL GOVERNMENT AMOUNT 001 Okitipupa N113,559,351.83k 002 Irele N38,867,216.47k 003 Ilaje N12,216,423.43k 004 Ese-Odo N9,773,138.75k N174,416,130.47k _____________________ _____________________ Prof. Francis Igbasan Barr. Read full Story : Olusegun Mimiko, And They Were Blind To Your Achievements Since 1999, there has never been any history of serving or outgoing governor in Ondo State that was praised or appreciated by the people of Ondo State not until after the exit of the governor has given birth to a new one. They did it to Adefarati, they did it to AGAGU. Even at the center, they said GEJ is clueless and corrupt. After one year of GEJ's exit , they started to say: bring back our corruption after they have a new wife call saint Buhari who came to deal with them like a Tyrant. So, Mimiko cannot be an exemption. I don't expect people to praise him now. That's human being. It wasn't as if he does not have his own shortcomings too, but at least, people should not because of sentiments, hatred, politics, or personal animosity be blinded to his landmark achievements in this state. Government is continnum.Let Arakunrin Akeredolu play his part now that the mantle has been handed him. Even our Lord Jesus Christ told his disciples in John 15 vs 20 : "Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also." No governor was praised, appreciated or free from condemnation in Ondo State since the return of Democracy in1999. Don't be offended, like senator Ben Bruce, I only want to make a common sense. Truth is bitter, but must be told, no matter the bitterness . Olumide Akinrinlola |

It is under Buhari i have seen govermnent taxing our personal savings. If you pay any amount into ur bank acct from N1000 and above, the bank will charge ur acct with N50 and such is remitted to FG. If u deposit 20 times in a day, ur acct will be charged 20 times N50. It is under Buhari i have seen a government increasing tarrif on drugs À government with inconclusive appointment, eg, case of thé acting CJN A government with missing budget, padded budget and two versions of budget. This is a government that budgeted millions for presidential kitchen utensils in 2016 and still went ahead to roll out another budget on same things this year |
Tonye, You forgot to add the following : - introduction of N50 tax on deposit payment on any acct that witness credit of N1000 and above - increasing Tariff on imported goods - increasing Tariff on drugs and others -introduction of rule of men against rule of Law whereby Buhari publicly vow not to obey court order. Example is case of NNamdi Kanu and Dasuki - Reversal of some colleges of Education upgrated to Universities - cases missing budgets, padded budget and budget of two versions - à sign of ineptitude and incompentence - high rate of nepotism and religious biogotry - inconclusive elections, and - inconclusive appointment eg the case of acting CJN |
the government of Buhari has now become riddles and jokes on social media |
see below what a banker and a PASTOR pasted on his face book page. i love this guy so much and i cannot do à day without visiting his facebook page. Olumide Akinrinlola is à banker with one of the leading banks in Nigeria and a pastor in one of the top Pentecostal churches in Nigeria. Just read his comment below why there is hardship in naija : " Scarcity of forex is one of the major reasons for the poor exchange rate in Nigeria. Believe it or discard it. It is very simple. Let them review their obnoxious forex policies which has adversely affected the transactions of forex in our commercial banks. I have told some of our professors both home and abroad severally, i have argued with many of them times without number, in the course of constructive criticism of some PMB's policies that: PMB and his policies is the source of the hardships we are witnessing today in Nigeria. When you abandon the banks and hoard forex while same is released to Family, friends and cronies, how do you think forex will be easily available and accessible by genuine business men and women ? And by consequence, your cronies have suddenly become successful business men and women due to your bad policies. Truth Must Be Told, No Matter How Bitter. I do not have a professorate degree but the little experience I have on the field in course of my lawful duty is my own degrees. Am happy today that the vice president is seeing it from the same perspective which is the right direction. #ForexPolicyMustBeReview#" |
