This is the continuing thread for Free to Air Satellite TV. Let us continue our Free to Air Satellite adventure here.

It is important that we continue with the good spirit that has carried us through the first thread and maintain the open source spirit that made that thread one of the most popular on nairaland and indeed, Africa.

Nothing has changed, everything remains the same.

@ F_Marshal,
Concerning feeds being encrypted, i dont fully agree with you on that oooooo.
Some feeds are basically left open, we all can watch the globecast feeds during the last olympics, and there're noise about that on this forum then , but it was still left open. I really think those transmitting the feeds signal will know the signal will be received by those that do a blindscan at that moment, but since it's just for a short time, it will be basically useless to encode the signals.
Will you now say that CNN will encode some of their feeds on NSS7 C-band? Of what use will that be?
Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by FMarshal2(m): 5:48pm On Oct 13, 2008
Tip Of The Day!!!

DRIP LOOP
Drip loops prevent water from following the Cable into the housing of Electronic/Electric devices, causing shorts and other dangerous situations. So long as the low point in the cable is below the device or area being protected, water will collect and drip from there, and not continue to the exposed live or sensitive parts of the panel or device. For example, If you have your Dish mounted on the Roof or Facial Board of your house,  you can use a "Drip Loop" to prevent water running from the Cable into your house, or Veranda and maybe into your Receiver/TV.   wink See picture for clarity.

Experience! Experience Enitan2002!  wink Sports is a money maker for the companies concerned, and judging from my experience most of them frown at people intercepting their un-announced feeds. Remember, people pay gate fees to watch those matches, not forgeting those paying premiums Dollars, Pounds and Francs, etc to watch the same games on PPV (Pay-Per-View).  Many feeds have been encrypted, because of some FTA enthusiasts being over zealous, boldly displayed sports feeds Transponders. CNN on the other hand may not mind, because they depend on large audiences to generate revenue. What I'm basically saying is this. We don not need to draw undue attention to the few feeds we get over there, because when they notice, you and everyone using those Birds will suffer the consequencies. NO MORE SPORTS FEEDS!

Enitan is definitely going to be the first here , ya why , don't forget the guy is on holiday. Anyway So happy we all make it here in one peace.

About us getting together , definitely we need to have a plan in place and then a six month notice will be fine , to allow everyone enough chance to plan and make it, At least some of us have to save for our transport and accommodation, Yes accommodation 'cos i don't think you guys want it to be just a day thing , why not a whole week, And the place , we all have to vote on that , thats why this soft(forum) need to be upgraded so we can have a pool to vote , most forum does. We can work something out , for the voting. No be the kind one PDP and AC day vote ooo. open vote.
Lets do it , As for me , could be like our NYSC orientation camp thing , no need for fancy hotels, but am cool what ever majority decide on.

toxnija where are u ooo , i need your advice and links here ooo, my woman just dumped me , but am cool , i need a special kind of , u know.

Happy to be here ooo

That's exactly my point. The commercial ones are left open by either accident, by mistake of the technicians or the belief that it wouldn't be found by someone, and shouldn't be announced to the entire world. Believe me, if they keep getting all these open forum feedbacks, you'll one day be referring to now, as the Good old sports Feed days in Naija region.

Olofofo. by the way, did you reinstall the Nilesat dish yet? smiley
Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by Nobody: 9:04pm On Oct 13, 2008
@ justx24,
what are insuating? that i no get job.
Boy, who watched 15 most outrageous fera factor events on e.Tv tonight?
Thats da bomb.

@ F_Marshal,
i dont think a well-trained satellite expert will rule out the event of an uncoded signal to be received when its a feed, that will be quite unprofessional of them if they should rule out that fact.

@ vickoy,
welcome onboard to flight FTA-vol2,being piloted by biggjoe and the man at the control tower is twinstaiye.
At this period, may the god of nilesat shower us in the southern part of country mercy at the hands of dstv and its cohorts hitv and mytv including canalsat horizons. We'll surely tracked that bird with 1.8m dish, but concerning getting most TPs active on it is what am unsure of oooooooooo

i understand your point. regarding my dish, i took it apart and tried to retrack, Badaru was with me yesterday, but we did not get the the quality of signal we got the last time. i am taking it apart again and moving it close to where my 1.8m is for elevation. it's easy especially when it has to be done alone. I should be through hopefully by tomorrow. if this final attempt does not work, then i will be getting a new dish.

this site provides daily update to satellites feeds.

@ olofofo,
eh ya, sorry brother, so that mean your 2.4m dish will soon finally be laid to rest?
You should've left it that way badaru positioned it on that 'glorious day'. And you were telling us that day that you will dismantle it after we must have gone and badaru wanred against it but you finally satisfied your conscience. We are both the same in quest for knowledge and am sure you accepted the outcome of your decision, the same thing happened to me frying my decoder some months back.

Whats the total number of the stations you have in all your positions for your motorised dish which are unencrypted?

Shine your eyes only strong X series you can patch or get fried cool

this is a general INTEL SITREP update confirmed from covet sources-you should all ignore adewest,he is a trader, and we dont trade here . Do not allow traders to give us high blood pressure. The way you guys are seeking him out might make him an unconfirmed local jack ass. No one puts out a call and then disappear, just to hype his rating. We dont need him to get for us Nilesat with 1.8 in lagos.
I challange all the experts in lagos to assemble somewhere in Lagos and spend 24 hrs together with the relevant materials-i swear you will confirm to be true or false his assumptions.I fit volunteer to com lagos from Kd to come give helping hand
