@OP How do you plan to make money from the site or are you just doing it for fun/as a hobby? It's not very easy making money from a new video website unless you have lots of money (hundreds of thousands to millions) to promote it or if the videos are unique videos from popular personalities/characters.

The videos that you upload, are they your original creations or obtained from elsewhere? Youtube has stringent guidelines on video ownership especially when you intend to make money off of the videos (via Adsense?)

Not trying to discourage you sha, just giving you an idea of what you might be getting into cos we've tried this before when I was studying with NG44 MOB Program

Didn't really know where to post this but I hope the mods see it and put it on the front page.

Just heard this from a friend in Benin. Uselu Market one of the biggest markets in Benin is currently on fire. At the moment the fire is still raging and they say there are no fire men and it seems to be going out of control.

So please if there is any way you can get help to put out the fire or if you are around the area please do something.

Romance / My GF Permitted Me To Sleep With Her Friend And Now She's Angry Because I Did It by nigeriantalent: 12:07pm On Jan 30, 2015
My Girlfriend Permitted me to Sleep With Her Friend and Now She is Angry Because I Did It

My girl friend is a virgin and we have been together for about 2 years now and I love her so much. There is this friend of hers who has feelings for me, but I have tried to make her understand that I cannot be involved with her because I am already dating her friend.

Sometime last week, I was very much in the mood and I tried to sleep with my girl but she refused because she is still a virgin and we had a long discussion during which she permitted me to date other girls because whe was not ready to lose her virginity.

This I did and I went to that her friend and I invited her to my room and eventually slept with her. My girlfriend got to know somehow and became very angry with me. When I explained to her that she was the one who gave me the go ahead, she denied it and said she was only joking with me.

Now my problem is that I have been pleading with her to forgive me, but she pays me deaf ears and rejects all my gifts to appease her. I am having double thoughts about the whole affair and thinking of opting out because I am tired of begging her. Please I need your advice on what to do whether to go on pleading with her or quit the affair entirely?

Romance / My Boyfriend Cheats On Me, Should I Cheat On Him Too? by nigeriantalent: 1:48pm On Jul 22, 2014
I am a girl of 23 and I have a boyfriend who I love so much. He loves me too and he has even introduced me to his family and his parents know me very well. But the problem is that he cheats on me with another girl once in a while. In spite of this I still love him because it doesn’t happen all the time, unlike his friends that cheat on their girls daily.

But his cheating has pushed me to have feelings for this other guy I met recently and I just can’t get my mind off him. I have been tempted several times to cheat on my boyfriend with this new guy. I even tell myself that since my guy is cheating then I should do the same.

The issue now is that I have never cheated on my boyfriend all through our four year relationship and I don’t feel that it is right in a loving relationship. But now I find myself thinking that since he does his own then there is no big deal in me trying it out once.

I really do love my boyfriend and I know that we love each other, but I just can’t get the other guy off my mind. What should I do? Source: http://deartiti.com/bf-cheats-cheat/

Webmasters / Re: Which Is Better Between Addynamo And Adsense For Blogging? by nigeriantalent: 11:58am On Dec 20, 2013
Hello all, I'm not a regular poster on NL but am happy for this opportunity to contribute the little I know about this topic in the hopes that it helps somebody out there.

Our company owns hundreds of websites and in my office we are in charge of tracking the revenues from our external monetization, this includes several PPC programs like Adsense and Ad Dynamo

Three years ago the company enrolled some of us in a training program by Aweriale Eromosele (the great?) and this gave me the opportunity to learn in detail about online business directly from him.

Based on the experiences of our company and what I learnt from the guru's training, I will now offer an in-depth answer to the OP's question. so anyone interested should carry their stool, sit down for corner, put down the akara that they were munching and bring out their chalk and slate to take down notes.

Here we go:

Deciding whether AdSense or AdDynamo is better depends on what your priorities are and what exactly it is that you are after. They each have their pros and cons as I will list below:

AdSense Pros
- Adsense revenues are up to 10 times or even more than AdDynamo. AdSense brings in the most money per click that is why it is so popular. We have tried evry kind of PPC ad network you can think of and AdSense beats all of them hands down. When it comes to earnings, AdSense is light years ahead of everyone else in the industry.

AdSense Cons
AdSense is a bittersweet pill. Below are the major negatives

- Difficult to get approval (for approval tips see this link: http://ng2g.com//adsense-and-pay-per-click/ )
- You can be banned at anytime with or (apparently) without good reason
- Once banned you can appeal and ask for a review but you can hardly ever get reinstated and you can never use that account for AdSense again
- Cant access more than one google account on the computer (major cause of bans)
- In Nigeria, you can only receive your payment through a foreign cheque and you need a dom account to cash the cheque. Although in other countries payment options like western union and direct deposit exist and some Nigerians use non Nigerian address to register especially if they have someone in those countries who can pick it up for them

AdDynamo Pros
- Easy to get approved
- Receive your cash directly in your Nigerian bank account
- Not easy to get banned unless you are really breaking their terms like clicking on your own ads repeatedly or using deceptive means to get clicks
- Good customer support (they respond to emails unlike AdSense)

AdDynamo Cons
- Very low earnings (what you make is very low compared to Adsense)
- Cannot profitably sustain a blog as the only means of monetization

Other Monetization Options to Consider

If you can't get Adsense approval, you may consider combining AdDynamo with any (or all) of the following:

Chitika : Receive your money via Paypal or foreign cheque

Infolinks: Receive your money with Payoneer card

Media.net : Media.net (owned by Microsoft/Bing and Yahoo) only accepts websites where there is reasonable US/Canada traffic (maybe up to 1000 visits per day from those regions)

There are a few other PPC programs that can be done in Nigeria but most of them are just a waste of time unless you have traffic in the tens of thousands of daily uniques at least. Then there are the indegenous ones like Promo Nigeria et al but those are too new or too small to give any verdict

In conclusion
Although AdSense can be a very bitter pill to swallow, the truth is that if you are lucky not to get banned, AdSense can be very sweet and the money pours in like G money so despite the negatives about AdSense, they are still the king anyday. What really drives most people away is because it is not easy to get approved but the truth is that it is not as difficult as many people think. Yes it is not easy but there are certain guidelines and if you follow them you will be able to reduce the probability of getting rejected.

My final advice:
Making money is not easy but with the right guidance, it is not as difficult or impossible as many people think. It all boils down to having access to the correct information. In my office we have been deep into the world of making money from websites and we have made millions from our big portfolio and All these things we learnt from the online training by the guru Aweriale (some of you may have heard of him) so my advice to anybody interested in knowing all there is to know about this stuff to check out his program (it used to be very cheap when our company registered us some years ago, I hope they are still on it, they will give u about 70 solid ebooks on everything and access to their secret mentoring forum). Check the program here: www.ng44.com/ebiz

Good luck in all your ventures and Merry Xmas all

Webmasters / Re: Using Voguepay API To Create A Commission Sharing Script by nigeriantalent: 11:40am On Nov 26, 2012
rufaai: Hmmmm... Pyrmid Scheme! undecided

Details of this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyramid_scheme
More correctly, the project is a kind of multi-level marketing program (MLM) (Similar to Forever Living Products, GNLD etc but not in the health niche). This script is just one aspect of the whole program to handle their online referrals. There's much more to the program than I have mentioned here. Definition of MLM: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multi-level_marketing and difference between Pyramid Schemes and MLM/Network Marketing: http://fraud.org/pyramids/pyramid_mlm.htm

As mentioned in my original post, such a script can also be used for online referral/affiliate marketing of products (a la clickbank) and virtually anything else that involves commission based sharing for referrals (including, unfortunately, Pyramid Schemes shocked)

Dual Core: I can write the full script for you but here's the thing.

1. No graphics or styling. Its going to be raw working html for presentation, PHP et MySQL for functionality.
2. I wont offer subsequent support or later modifications to it (I won't have the time).
3. It will take about 2 days as I can guarantee working on it for an hour a day (at night).

If you are okay with all 3 conditions let me know.
Bless you Dual Core. This is exactly what I need. No extra bells or whistles, no aesthetic/exotic designs or fancy stuff. Just the basic working code optimized to handle high access volumes. I agree very much with all your three conditions. In addition, I will like your approval to make the code public on this thread so that others can equally benefit/contribute too.

dhtml: This is interesting. However, i am on leave at the moment, not taking any new work until i finish my current tasks at the moment. I will keep checking to see how i can contribute.
Okay thanks a lot, hope you have a wonderful time during your leave.

lojik:
Our hands are full right now sir (I mean VoguePay Team)... You can let me know if there are improvements we can make to the Command API that will help with this project.
Thanks a lot for the help and support so far.

@lojik: Thanks a lot and sorry that it took me aome time to get back on the thread. Voguepay is a very good product with a lot of potential and one way to zap ahead of the competition and make your service better is to keep listening to suggestions from your user community and implementing the ones you feel as good. Always stay open to new suggestions. You guys are doing a WONDERFUL job.

Regarding the use of the Command API, its unfortunate that I can no longer program PHP but I have thought about the problem and developed a blueprint for a possible solution that will work for our project. I have laid it all out in detail on another thread and would very much need your help with converting it to code. I would appreciate if you can take a look at the thread here: https://www.nairaland.com/1097550/using-voguepay-api-create-commission

@Dual Core: Thanks a lot for the clarification and the suggestions. Hope you can also help me out with my blueprint

@*: Please I also need your help too and any other programmers in the house. Please take a look at the thread here

@topic: Meanwhile I still have one or two other suggestions to add to this thread but those will come some other time.
Webmasters / Using Voguepay API To Create A Commission Sharing Script by nigeriantalent: 8:32pm On Nov 08, 2012
Hi all,

This is going to be quite lengthy but I need the help of any PHP programmers out there, especially the Voguepay Team. I've tried to be as detailed as possible. I hope the writeup is clear enough. (Men it took me almost the whole day to compose this shocked )

Using Voguepay API to create a Commission Sharing Script
Usefulness: This sort of script can be used for Affiliate, Referral and Network Marketing Programs. Because most foreign affiliate websites like clickbank don't deal well with nigerians, there is a great demand for referral scripts and systems by Nigerian internet marketers. Unfortunately, no reliable one tailored for the Nigerian market seems to exist at the moment.

BACKGROUND INFO FOR OUR PROJECT:

The company I work for is consulting for a project where people can refer other people to join a certain website after paying a registration fee. We need a system that will be able to receive online payments and then automatically record the new member's details and (also automatically) pay out a commission out of the registration fee to the person referring someone and also to the person who brought in the person who is now referring someone (also known as the referrer's Upline).

Because Voguepay has a mandatory wait time of 48 hours before new payments can be withdrawn, the disbursing of commissions to referrals must be set to be automatically triggered 48 hours after a new member has paid.

EXAMPLE

(For simplicity, I will use fixed values for the product cost. In other words: )

Say Person "A" referred Person B and B is now in turn referring C

C is the person being registered (new Member), he pays N2000 and when the payment is successful, Person B (The referrer) gets a commission of N1000 and Person "A" (the Upline) gets a commission of N100 all paid out 48 hours after C pays the registration fee online via voguepay.

ABOUT THE VOGUEPAY API
After testing various Nigerian platforms, we have opted to use Voguepay.com as the payment processor for this project because our recent experience with them shows that they are reliable with fast support response times, a listening CEO/staff and they appear willing to improve their service. They also have a very good API for developers which is of great interest to us at present.

The Voguepay API can be found at https://voguepay.com/developers

THE CHALLENGE
On another thread, the CEO of voguepay (I believe) told me that a commission sharing setup such as the one we want could be done using the Voguepay Command API.

Unfortunately I'm a retired programmer and I can no longer write an actual program with confidence but I have analysed the problem and have come up with an algorithm for a suggested solution that I think will work.

All that is needed now is for any programmer with time on their hands to help me and others in my shoes to take this up as a challenge and help convert my algorithm into code using HTML, PHP and MySQL

By doing this we will also be helping the naija web community to make a good service (voguepay) even better for the benefit of everyone.

PROGRAMMING OBJECTIVE:

To develop a simple application that works as a commission sharing script via the voguepay API (https://voguepay.com/developers).

TERMS AND VARIABLES I HAVE USED:

$ref = referrer = the person who is currently bringing in a new member
$upl = Upline = The person that brought in the referrer $ref
$new = New Member = The new person being referred in and registered by $ref

If Person A brought B and B is bringing in C, then A is the Upline (and also referrer) to B and B is the Upline (and also referrer) to C who is the new member.

MY PROPOSED SOLUTION

Preamble: This solution is based on the needs of our project and the programming objective. But the end product can easily be modified to suit any purpose or project.

THE END GOAL
Ultimately, we want a situation where After setting up of the script, existing members of www.oursite.com should be able to refer new members using an affiliate link of the form www.oursite.com/join.html?r=voguepayusername and the system will automatically process the payment, record the details in a database and pay commissions (after 48 hours) to the voguepay wallets of all the relevant parties.

All intending members must first open a Voguepay account and fund it with the necessary amount before coming to register.

MY ALGORITHM

The solution to this problem will require the creation of:

- One HTML File containing the membership join form
- One PHP File and
- One MySQL Database

THE HTML FILE
-------------

1. This is the main page that contains the join form.

2. The referral URL of this page can be www.oursite.com/join.html?r=affilateID where affiliateID would also be the same as the voguepay username of the affiliate who is referring someone.

3. The join form should have fields for requesting for the new user's real name and also their voguepay username and storing it in the variables new and name. that is:

- $new = new member's voguepay username
- $name = new member' real name

4. This HTML page should be able to extract the affiliateID portion of the URL and then pass it on as a hidden variable called ref together with the two variables from the join form ($new and $name) to the voguepay payment gateway. That is:
- $ref = affiliateID

5. Thus at the end, when the form has been filled and submitted, the following variables are passed on to the Voguepay payment gateway/API. $new, $name and $ref

6. The Gateway requests for the payment of N2,000 to be made into our voguepay account.

6. If the payment is successful, the Voguepay Gateway then passes the 3 variables collected from the form, i.e $new, $name and $ref, in addition to all the other variables available from the API to our PHP script. If it fails, it redirects to a failure URL e.g www.oursite.com/fail .

7. If it cannot pass on the 3 variables then it should store them together with the other details of the transaction so that they can be retrieved by referencing the transaction ID for the transaction and pulling up associated data for the transaction via the Order/Notification API

THE PHP SCRIPT
--------------

1. On successful payment, the Voguepay Gateway redirects to this PHP script and also passes on the variables from the HTML Form which are $new, $name and $ref.

2. Note: If the voguepay gateway cannot pass on the 3 variables then it should store them together with the other details of the transaction so that they can be retrieved by THE PHP SCRIPT by referencing the transaction ID for the transaction via the Order/Notification API

3. Store the Values $new, $name and $ref in THE DATABASE under one record. (Note: THE DATABASE as used here refers to the "One MYSQl Database" required for this our application as mentioned previously).

- THE DATABASE should have a table named AFFILIATES with the following columns: ID(Primary Key), MEMBER, MEMBER_NAME, MEMBER_REF

Store variable $new under MEMBER column
Store variable $name under MEMBERNAME column
Store variable $ref under MEMER_REF column

5. Obtain the current Referrer's Upline from THE DATABASE and store in variable $Upl

Remember
--------
$ref = referrer = the person who is currently bringing in a new member
$upl = Upline = The person that brought in the current referrer ($ref)
$new = New Member = The new person being registered by $ref

- Search THE DATABASE to obtain the username of the upline of the person who is now bringing in someone. This would be the MEMBER_REF value that corresponds with MEMBER $ref in the database.

- Search database column MEMBER for the value $ref,
- Pull out the value of MEMBER_REF associated with the record found and store the value in variable $Upl.

- If there is no MEMBER = $ref in the database then skip to 5 below (because this could be someone who is not a member of our website trying to refer someone. In such a case, we take all the N2000 and the person gets nothing)

4. Schedule the Disbursement of the commissions to be triggered after 48 hours:

(Side Note: Because Voguepay has a mandatory wait time of 48 hours before new payments can be withdrawn, the disbursing of commissions to referrals must be set to be automatically triggered 48 hours after a new member is registered. This is meant to give time for the money paid to become available for withdrawal. In my opinion, this is where the main challenge might be for a newbie developer because I'm guessing it might involve setting up CRON jobs of some sort. Hopefully there might be a simpler solution.)

Tell the Voguepay Command API to do the following after 48 hours:

- Pay N1000 from our account to the voguepay member with username $ref. In other words, pay the referrer his commission of N1,000. (Side note: For greater flexibility Percentage values could also be used to calculate commission but for our needs, we are quite okay with using flat figures).

- Pay N100 to the voguepay member with username $Upl (in otherwords, pay the person who brought the current referrer a commission of N100).

5. After the script has scheduled the payment to be triggered after 48 hours, the user is then redirected to a Success URL e.g www.ourwebsite.com/success

6. END

-----------------------
Phew!!! so thats the end of the problem statement and algorithm. Over now to all ye coders and developers (pls help)...

Webmasters / Suggestions and Feature Requests For Voguepay by nigeriantalent: 6:43pm On Oct 23, 2012
Hello lojik / Voguepay team,

I initially posted this on another thread but decided to create a new topic for it instead.

The company I work for is consulting for a client who is planning a big project starting next year and we are shopping for a suitable payment processor to use for their online payments. We are currently testing different payment processors including voguepay on some products and my boss has been particularly impressed with voguepay.

However for us to be able to use it on the upcoming project, we need some features which are currently not yet implemented.

We already emailed your support and were told that our request was forwarded to management and we shall be contacted soon but in the course of my research on payment processors I stumbled on this thread and figured I might as well talk to you directly.

Here's what we need to be able to use Voguepay on the new project and I'm sure these would be beneficial to many others and a useful additional feature which no other working payment processor in nigeria seems to have.

FEATURE REQUESTS/SUGGESTIONS

1. AFFILIATE LINK TYPE
A feature/option Where payment made through a payment link can be credited to two or more voguepay user accounts. For example, a voguepay user can create a payment link and specify that 60% of any payments coming through that link goes to voguepay user A and 40% goes to Voguepay user B. Another example I could generate a payment link and specify that 50% of payments coming through the link go to user A, 35% to user B and the rest 15% to a third user C. (Three users is okay for starters)

2. EDITABLE PAYMENT LINKS

The ability to go back and manage/edit payment links that were created earlier. Such an edit could include options to change amount, deactivate, delete, pause etc. There could also be an area where users can view and access all the payment links that they've ever generated. A feature for bulk/mass editing would also be desirable.

3. EXPIRABLE LINKS

An option to make a payment link expire (i.e become inactive/unusable) either on a certain date or after a given length of time (in hours, days, months etc).

We hope to start the first tests of the project maybe in December 2012 or January 2013 and I would like to know if these are features that can be incorporated before that time (especially features 1 i.e. affiliate type of payment link).

There are still some other features we have in mind but these ones will do for now.

Thanks

Hello Moderator, how can we modify some of our old posts like this thread and a couple of others. I couldn't find any other way to reach you but we need to remove some of our contact info because the posts are now obsolete yet we still get calls. Expecting a reply, thanks!
