Realistically, to break into a first team like ours you need to have played 150 to 200 games at senior level.

If a player goes out at 18 or 19 years old, that means they will be 22 years old before being able to really compete for a regular place in the team and you can see that pathway with the likes of Ryan Bertrand and Nathaniel Chalobah."

You 150 -200 games at a senior level before you're even ready to compete for a place in the squad...and this assuming that you're even deemed good enough to compete after gaining this experience.

The only caveats to this is

1: you're an Mbappe or Rashford style prodigy
2: there's a crazy injury crisis.

This is why i keep saying that keeping these boys around to play 33 minutes over 5 or 6 games a season like RLC last year does not help these players 1 bit.

Send them out on loan or sell them if they want to go. The only youth I want in the first team is the type that is ready to snatch a first team shirt.

Hazard was the around same age as Chalobah this yeat, when he moved to England. The difference in not just ability, but reputation is clear.

With Rudiger and Bakayoko in the squas, we should be looking for a way to switch to a back 4 abeg.

Having an extra man in defence is useless when we battle teams with solid midfield.

We saw that too many times last season - spurs, city, and Manyoo for example.
