Shogun 2 is not like the games that came after it where u ve different factions spanning like half the northern hemisphere. Its a game of different warring clans under the same faction in this case, medieval Japan so there was hardly gonna be any variety in the game. So its understandable why most clans had similar units and traits. At least they all still had clan unique units like Bulletproof Samurai(Date) and Fire Cav(Takeda). But i get ur point tho.

Anyways, i'll reserve comments till i play Warhammer

Bullet proof samurai and Fire Cav are just reskins of regular Yari Samurai and Arrow Calvary with their base stats tweaked.

If you have a settlement with fully upgrade armorer/masterbow makers, a relevant encampment, and the relevant bushido branches researched, you can easily crank out base units equivalent or superior to the stats of those units you mentioned.

The only real difference is the maximum upper limit for stats gained by exp on those units you mentioned.

They play exactly the same. They just different base stats.

Now compare to warhammer where the entire vampire faction has no ranged attack, be it archers, firearms or artillery. Dwarves are heavily armored but extremely slow. Chaos are heavily armored and have a solid range of units but are horde only with very expensive units. Beastmen are horde only with initial squishy units. Orcs and Goblins are melee specialists but with low armour and even lower morale.

Elves are archery based. Brettonia Calvary based.

This is what I'm talking about. Every single faction feels completely different to the rest.

Bro the game is all good. But the real fun is in the multiplayer. Avatar conquest, customisable veterans and units. For a 5 yr old game, the multiplayer is quite active but then again, i heard people still play Medieval II and even Rome I.


Was gonna download Rome II again but i guess i'll give Warhammer a try. U getting Warhammer II??

Definitely getting warhammer 2. I don't play multiplayer, strictly campaign mode, and warhammer's replay value in that regard is second to no other warhammer game, because each faction has mostly genuinely unique units unlike Shogun 2 for example where every single faction has access to Yari Ashigaru or Bow Samurai.

The variety of the factions will see you coming back after each game to try out the units of a different faction.

Kholek Suneater for example from the Chaos faction is nigh unstoppable bastard, and the fun factor of running him at the head of an army of Shaggoths is just mad fun. Ditto running a Strigoi Ghoul king with a platoon of Crypt Ghouls with a squadron of Terrorgheists providing aerial support.

Warhammer comes highly recommended by myself. You won't regret getting it.

Shogun 2 still the best of the bunch. Most of my free time now is spent playing it

I have the RoTS DLC, and I've played a bit of FoTS via the historical mission challenges.

Total War shogun2 was the best of the bunch. Warhammer blows it out of the water completely. Ive played tge campain for all the races in the game and I have every single DLC/FLC released for that game.

Plus you can't just pluck a bunch of young players who've played in different parts of the world under different systems and chuck them in a 3-4-3 and expect them to dazzle. That's not how youth football works. Even the senior players looked a little disjointed, the first time they played a 3-4-3.
