The fact that Conte is not involved in transfers proves that yes, The Technical Director was indeed in charge of recruitment at the club. That there is no longer a figure head to the position does not mean someone is not acting the position. Right now, the person is even doing far worse than Emenalo.

TD offered to resign as far back as 2013, and eventually bounced 4 years later. His job is so important, that the board didn't even bother to replace him....even in a transfer window.

But of course, this Carroll rumour actually proves that Emenalo was in fact making the transfers.

Spot on! Which is why I sugggested a few posts ago (before the Andy Carroll link) that Conte should try Batman and Morata in the 3-5-2 and Hazard in a free role behind them. I do believe the system could work. However, it will not work in isolation. The WBs need to be top draw.

All that said, I find it difficult to think that Conte asked for Andy Carroll personally. I am shocked Conte even knows Andy Carroll.
