raumdeuter:My Facebook don explode now. Everybody is wondering when London will be hit...it's only a matter of time now. My wife gaan dey panic. Crazy stuff |
raumdeuter:It's a very French problem though cos Na them pack Arabs full the country. Hollande was actually at the game when the gbege started. Death toll is now at 40 and rising fast. Hollamde has now declared state of emergency across the whole country... |
I'm hearing a bomb went off outside the Stadium in Paris during the game... |
JayJay and Papillo for me. Headmaster in third. |
Oh Lava!!! The club is now a Pure Gym. The VIP area is now the spin class. And the stupidity of the Northampton night out continues. Another African Club (Academy) closed down 2 weeks ago. |
coogar:You wan enter ring? No potshots from the gallery allowed ![]() |

sephia:Dunno about glastonbury sha, but at wireless he got the entire crowd jumping. He came out wearing one weird mask like that and all of Finsbury Park was on fire. Then he had to pull a dickmove like stopping the music and eulogising his mummy for 20 goddam minutes... |
Ibime:30 pounds for VIP bruv ![]() With meet and greet. Me sef no fit believe am |
sephia:Nas? At Glastonbury? ![]() I met some girls at his show who didn't even know who Nas was. He doesn't have the crossover appeal to command a stage at an all white festival like Glastonbury. Kanye on the other hand is known all over the world, but he too is a fool. I was at Wireless last year, and he stopped mid-set to launch into some wack 20 minute diatribe about his mother... I've never seen anything like that before in my life. Went from rapping 'Clique' to telling us how he missed his mummy... |
sephia:Escobar is a bastard. I went to see him in Colchester a few months back. I was charged up and spent the prior week listening to his discography. I paid for VIP with meet and greet. The eediot showed up late, performed only 2 songs, left early, and I heard he jacked the promoter backstage and obtained his Rolex cos they didn't pay him complete money. Naz is a thief. |
Ibime:Bwahahaha |
coogar:Of course he was. Even without Suarez. But his body was not made for football. Most of his injuries are soft tissue injuries, his body is falling apart! Same thing with Aguero, except that one quickly scores like 6 goals before his next injury spell arrives. Just imagine Aguero's brain in Sanchez's body... |
Ibime:2 years you say? ![]() The last 2 injuries, transfermarkt just tire for the boy write am in German...
|
Mourinholic:So Mata wasn't getting it right behind the CF? What exactly is your point? |
coogar:You have to be a bit selfish and a bit of a dickhead to be a top striker in my opinion...but Sturridge takes the dickheadness to some next level. However that's not my issue with him. Sturridge is essentially a sentient mass of ectoplasmic tissue that managed to hold itself together long enough to convince Liverpool that it was a footballer worth giving a 5 year contract of 150k a week, before spectacularly falling apart after the deal was done... And for that, I must thank whoever was responsible for ridding us of that ghost... |
We dodged a bullet with Sturridge though. If Emenalo was responsible for that, I will buy him a drink. |
Mourinholic:I didn't even see this. By your logic, Fabregas too should be sold on that basis.. An attacking minded midfielder finds it difficult to defend. Shock horror! |
mithel:Bertrand got in that team of the season by virtue of playing for a team that was widely considered to have overchieved. We played 1 attacking full back and 1 defensive full back last season. Bertrand as an attacking fullback was not better than Ivanovic and posted only marginally better numbers than Azpi who was instructed to play defensively to cover Hazard. Bertrand as a defensive fullback doesn't even come close to Azpi. Both Azpi and Iva clearly shat on Bertrand last season, so who would he have benched? So forget team of the season. Aguero was far and away the best striker in the division and didn't make it. Even as bad as we've been this season...my guy look at the second graphic Now if you are looking back in hindsight as saying well, Bertrand could have done a job now, you then need to ask yourself if you honestly thought that Bertrand could comeback and displace Filipe Luis The fact that Bertrand achieved the team of the season last year has fed this growing myth that Bertrand was anything but an average full back at Chelsea. Shine your eye wella. Bertrand was never the saviour

sephia:I acknowledge this when I said "At the time the majority of then fans here bar maybe Ibime and lalaboi thought Lukaku wasnt good enough." You seem to have an axe to grind. .With who? You? come off it. You are an esteemed member of this board and we have never quarreled before. WHy would I have an axe to grind with you? My take on youth is clear enough. Integrate the youth into the senior squad as a gradual process. I have especially felt the need for that as a result of our present predicament where the full first team is under performing. Now, you can't go and buy players, it's only sensible that you give some of the more motivated youths some player time to see what impact it would make. This is exactly what I dont agree with. If in doubt, go for a sure thing. We have too much at stake to start gambling on inexperienced youth to bail us out. Football is both physical and mental. You don't throw somebody in the deep end for the first time and expect him to be experienced enough mentally to know what to do. Lemme just take the chill pill and...well..chill... My own don dey too much. Again I'm sorry if I came across as insulting. I never meant to. |
Mourinholic:Story...yet Mourinho quickly went to look for Fabregas who is a defensive liability to provide creativity in the midfield? In case you forgot, Fabregas was the most dribbled past player in our team last season. And thank God you can see how much he was being covered for this season. |
sephia:I am sorry if you feel insulted. That was never the intention at all. However what I said was based on my perception of you. I did not go digging for old posts as you say. I remembered them. At the time the majority of then fans here bar maybe Ibime and lalaboi though Lukaku wasnt good enough. I remember arguing with Nateevs(Oh the delicious irony ) who claimed that Lukaku was not good enough to lead the line for us because the way teams set up against Everton was not the same way they do against Chelsea.Back then 'Youth Out' was a popular sentiment and you were a visible proponent. This year 'Youth in' is In, and you are once again a visible proponent. You mention hindsight...hindsight vision is always 20/20. The clearest you can get. Please tell if you would look back favourably in hindsight on a manager that persisted with Bertrand as 1st choice LB, McEchran and Romeu as 1st choice centre mids, and 'that' KDB in attacking midfield.... |
Mourinholic:Lukaku had every right under the sun to be impatient. This was my take on it last year.... Nihilist:Guess what happened? Last season Costa 22 goals all competitions Lukaku 20. |
sephia:Over the years, it has become very obvious that you don't seem to have a mind of your own, and just tend to follow and regurgitate popular opinion. Now you say we've lost Betrand and Lukaku for 'no tangible reason' 2 years ago, this is what you were saying on Lukaku sephia:And sephia:Out of all that lot, the only mistakes were selling Lukaku and arguably Mata. Saying the others should not have been let go is just pure revisionism. During the same period boys on these very thread were claiming that KDB was wasted at 10 because he was a better winger. In fact some people said Schurlle was better than De Bruyne. That was another argument because nobody could even tell where his best position was. Where is that Schurlle today now sef? KDB had to go and develop at a place where he would get unlimited game time under limited pressure before he became the player he is today. And this is what I've been saying over and over again. Chelsea is not the kind of club where you learn your craft. It is the kind of club where you perfect your craft. The pressures of competing for the league title and in Europe means that nobody got time to baby you as a youngster. I'm done with this discussion sef. It's not like I get paid to defend our youth policy. |
@Mithel,I think you are doing Azpi a great disservice by comparing him to Betrand. Bertrand and Azpi are around the same age. Azpi cost only 7 million pounds. He was not a big money purchase 'that must play'. He is a naturally a right back. If you look at the scenario objectively and without bias, it is immediately obvious that there was an opportunity for Betrand to claim that LB slot if he was good enough. The manager did not 'opt to play a right back' in Bertrand's position as you put it...the manager opted to play the 'better player' at left back. Filipe Luis was signed for twice the amount that Azpi was signed for on the back of winning la liga and getting to the UCL finals. He also could not pass Azpi bus stop. He too was benched by a right back in the left back position. If your call for 'youth integration' is simply to provide permanent bench fodder, then OYO lo wa. Calling Betrand as an example of a youth that got away is just laughable. If Bertrand saw Azpi strolling through the streets of Southampton today, he will quickly look for a bench to sit down on. That is standard. |
nateevs:But Lukaku and Zouma are perfect examples of the kind of youth we need! Each of them had been playing full seasons at the top leagues of their countries year in, year out since they were 16. They were able to gain the necessary experience to be considered genuine prospects for the Chelsea first team. Those are the kind of youths that we can commit to training and integrating because they are already at advanced stages in their football education. Lukaku had played over 200 senior professional matches before he turned 21. Zouma had played 73 senior games for St Etienne by the time he was 19. There is simply NO WAY any of our academy products will get these kind of game time and exposure unless they are prodigies.10 minutes here and 20 minutes there wont give you the develpment time you need to break into the first team. That's why they have to be tested on loan at a high level. If Bamford at 22 is still looking for piecemeal minutes for 'youth integration', when Lukaku was already playing first team football for Belgium national team at 17, and was Westbrom's best player at 19, and Everton's best player by 20...then logic tells us that Bamford is not the type of youth we're looking for. At least Ake and Christensen have wormed their ways into the first teams of Watford and Gladbach. If they perform well there and again on subsequent loans, then they at least have a case. You can't just go from academy to the first team at Chelsea or any other big club unless you're a prodigy. If your talent is not immediatly obvious, theres far too much at stake for the manager to spend time trying to uncover it |
nateevs:Again very logical rebuttal, with just one comma...Is Bamford the Crespo of 2015? It's one thing to angry at Falco if he was blocking the obvious tested and certified talent of Lukaku who had gone out on loan in the EPL and impressed. Its another thing to be angry at Falcao blocking the chance of an untested entity who we want to be good, but lack evidence to justify our continued goodwill. Quite simply, for us to to start dubbing or even insinuating that Bamford is Crespo reborn, he should have done some very Crespo-like things at EPL Level...which unfortunately for him, he hasn't. And therein lies the premise of my argument. Zouma's shot at the first team was justifiable by his completion of 3 full seasons in ligue 1 before he turned 20. Hazard was 21 when he joined our starting 11....His inclusion in the first team was justifiable. Bamford is older than those two were when they entered our first team. He cannot start at Palace. Should we be trying to give him piecemeal minutes and hope for the best, when its so obvious what kind of youngsters we need? It'ss not about youth integration. It's about the right youth integration sir Nateevs. And that's all I keep saying...we don't have the right youth! I'll stop now before this gets tooo boring for everyone else |
