Elsharawy saw the ball lumped into Chelsea's near post, so do Alonso( watch closely his eyes are clearly on the ball) Elsharawy RAN PAST him, to meet the lose ball close to him, Alonso did not even run a yard, he was just jogging. its clearly poor awareness and lazy attitude. If i am his manager, i will not be happy with him. And even where was the 3rd central defender? or the defensive midfieder to clean up?

Bakayoko-fabregas combo is a No for me, against a top side.

You are right, bakayoko seems to me to be a lazy midfielder, tracking back. He has so many things to work on, including his cardio.

How? Rudiger had no business to continue trailing dzeko, once he saw luiz and azpi closing in on him. He was supposed to move away behind dzeko and close the other freed attacker. Dzeko had very slim chance of outwitting the two in his front. Look at it well.

There were times I didn't understand the players position on the field. How come Azpilicueta was the one marking Sharawaay.. Where was Luiz? After Willian sub on it looked like we still kept on with three at the back.

Every spirit of bakayoko in that post actually means every spirit of brainfarts! Luiz was caught not being able to trap a ball yesterday when I made that post. It had nothing to do with bakayokos game lastnite.

Yes I don't like bakayoko as a player however, I won't be place yesterday's defeat on him. I have not done that...if you can find any of such post kindly repost. Thanks

Only once – after a clean sheet against Everton – has Antonio Conte retained the same back three.

He is of course dealing with an increased workload but it appears to defy logic that such a meticulous coach would constantly tinker with the heart of his defence.

When you are as uncertain defensively as Chelsea have uncharacteristically been for much of the season, surely any good performance should be seized upon as an opportunity for continuity.

So when a back three of Antonio Rudiger, Azpilicueta and David Luiz (incidentally the same trio who kept that first clean sheet against Everton) excelled against Bournemouth – with Davide Zappacosta also excellent at wing-back – the instinctive response would be to task the same trio with the same jobs against Roma, even if that once again means your captain watching from the sidelines.

Instead, Azpilicueta was shunted wide, Luiz moved central and Rudiger switched to accommodate Cahill.

The result, unsurprisingly, was total chaos. Hardly surprising, you might think, when the only other outing for this incarnation was the 4-2 win over Watford when Chelsea initially looked very vulnerable.
