Kamelot77: it works for both Germany nd Spain How many German and Spain u-17 tournament winners went on to win trophies with their senior teams? Coming first in common entrance does not necesarilly mean you'll even pass Jamb. |

cstr1000: It was not just the U-17 though, even the U-20. And not to forget the back to back champions league trophy wins by the Chelsea youth team. It is obviously not a coincidence. There is something good happening to England right now and there is no question of age-cheating.
The next step is for these players to be inculcated into the main teams of the clubs and be introduced to football at the highest level just like their European colleagues will inevitably enjoy. And that is where England will most likely get it wrong thanks to their ultra-competitive clubs. We will probably get to see the Spanish and Braziliian U-17 players in future senior world cups bossing it due to their accelerated progression, while England will still be depending on Henderson. U-17 football means very little because the players that shine are shining against 17 year olds, majority of the whom will never amount to anything significant in football. Nigeria 99 when Spain won, only Casillas , Xavi and maybe Marchena went on to achieve anything 2005 when Messi won best u-17 player and Mikel came 2nd, how many Argentines from that squad went on to do anything? Or Nigerians for that Matter? Until you do it at senior level I'm not interested. No dividends have been paid until England win something at senior level |

I was having an argument with a friend on this, told him I preferred Zap offensively while Moses defensively! I hope he does. The guy is essentially another winger on thst right flank. I like him a lot. |

cstr1000: All the millions of pounds worth of investment in academy football by English premier clubs is now paying dividends for their national teams. U-17 football means very little. I wouldn't say any dividends have been paid until we see England seniors win a trophy |
