From what I saw today, Jorginho's defensive game is similar to Fabregas', jogging back casually, with no sense of hurry and not preempting danger. I haven't watched a lot of Jorginho, so I have no opinion of him. If this is not a fitness problem but rather his lack of defensive urgency, then it will be dangerous playing him as the deepest player in a 4-3-3. This is Mikel all over again.

This might mean that Sarri needs to start considering a 4-2-3-1 very quickly, so that Kante can sit deep alongside Jorginho, or we could be going into the season with serious defensive issues; especially if he is thinking about pairing Luiz and Rudiger behind Jorginho.

I sat in the snow at Lincoln last year watching Hudson Odoi in the checkatrade trophy. He was running around and terrorising defenders with zero end product and Chelsea ended up losing that game.

mehn you're right on the money for Jorginho. The pace of Serie A games is very low. They are still more obsessed with defending rather than attacking in that side. That's probably why it's normal to see 38-40 year old senior citizens masquerading as attackers in that league.

I share your worries that Jorginho may be unsuitable for the high intensity of our league here. I'll be watching closely against Huddersfield
