@ Topic and Afam Your reasoning seems logical but I disagree with you on some points. Your estimate of 20% of governments estimate is quite shakey. You only considered 5Ws bulbs as to 60Ws. What percentage of Nigeria's energy requirement is lighting needs. You didn't consider the Industries that consume hundreds of watt per piece of machinery per hour. You should also know that as the economy grows and expands, so those the energy requirements. So there is the need to increase power generating capacity. Take the case of South Africa for instance, we nigerians used to cite them as a country of stable electricity. But now, they have started suffering the same predicament Nigeria is in presently. Simply because they didnt increase generating capacity proportionately with Industrial needs. Have always told people that Nigeria's problems are multifaceted, which require multifaceted solutions. I support your idea of having an efficient energy policy. But not by penalizing consumers for "wasting" what they are paying for. Rather the government should encourage the importation of these low energy consuming bulbs and similar products by giving incentives, tax waivers and the like. My own submission is for govt to tackle the energy problem from both sides, increasing generating capacity and encouraging efficient usage. |
@ Post Really nice. But people living in Hong Kong are refered to as Hong Konger or Hongkongese For reference see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hong_Kong |
@ Topic Its quite interesting reading peoples response and opinion. But I couldn't help but notice that guys are already tagging the man "an abusive father". A guy changing in a relationship does not mean he is abusive. Secondly, we don't know the circumstances that lead to the so called changing in the guy's behaviour. Besides any body living with a partner (legally married or not) will know that couples experience ups and downs in relationships. That does not make the relationship wrong. @ Poster What should be paramount in your friend's mind is the future of her kids. I will only tell her that a broken home is not palatable! |

I feel your pains sisters! If the guy says he is no longer interested then forget about him and move on with your life. Afterall, you can force a horse to the river but you definitely can't force it to drink. |
Definitely 24. I find Prison Break quite predictable unlike 24, where you simply have no idea whats going to hit you next! |

Yes, out of the lot that contested that election, Yar' adua probably has the best credentials but thats no to say he is the best this country has to offer!! Frankly, am a Yar' adua supporter but so far he is failing me! He seems to be foot dragging on many issues especially the Power and energy issue in this country. He is not being Proactive enough. |
