PoliticsRe: Who's Olawunmi Abiola? She Brands Politicians Bastards by nipalm(m): 10:45pm On May 29, 2012
Some of MKO kids are happy about this change oh Olawunmi.

The late MKO Abiola’s family, including his son and daughter have expressed joy over Jonathan’s decision to rename University of Lagos (UNILAG) as Moshood Abiola University.
Mr. Abdul Abiola, MKO Abiola’s son, said there was nothing wrong with the naming of the university after his father, saying that the family is shocked by the outrage trailing the presidents decision.
Abdul Abiola says the renaming is just one way of honouring and immortalising the late business mogul.
“We are shocked by the reactions trailing this development. My late father believed so much in education.
“He donated money to universities across the nation. Naming a university after him was a well-deserved honour,” he said.
“He should still be given more honours. We see nothing political in this.
“We are happy about it and we are yet to understand the rationale behind people going up in arms over this decision,” he added.
Daughter of the late MKO abiola, Hafsat Abiola-Costello, described the presidents gesture as well deserved.
“It is honour well deserved. We should just remember that his commitment was to end poverty. That was what he was fighting for. It’s honour for him and those who fought with him.” she said

A yoruba proverbs states "if one is thankful of a favour today, that person will receive another tomorrow".

I think, if you love your neighbour as yourself you will go out of your way to assist a neighbour in need, however!! If the neighbour then thinks you are a fool for helping and decides to go ahead taking advantage then you should think twice about the help, I would.

Cant remember if anyone asked the guy if he had any responsibility to take care of in his own immediate family circle, if he had and left those unattended then I think he has gone down the wrong path, in my humble view.
SportsRe: Britain Deports Its Five Gold Medal Nigerian Hero by nipalm(m): 8:42pm On Mar 25, 2010
UK law states "Immigrants who commit serious criminal offences are subject to automatic deportation once their sentences end", why is this so difficult for some nairalanders to understand? the guy was sentenced to five months in prison for driving while disqualified after twice being convicted of careless driving (this is a serious criminal offence according to the UK laws).

He shot himself in the foot.

The UK law is no respecter of anyone (either famous / or not).

QED.

PS : Nigerian law makers / administrators should learn from this.
PoliticsRe: Nigerian Embassies Steal Visa Fees, Says Auditor-general by nipalm(m): 1:02am On Jan 20, 2010
@ tosinbobo1

True Word. They never insisted on cash, i even saw a chip and pin machine on their paying in counter, but no one used it, Naija!!!

Guess paying by postal (made out to the nigerian high commission) i felt like the money was going directly to Nigerian Government ( my feelings though, rather than paying my cash which could develop legs/wings).
PoliticsRe: Nigerian Embassies Steal Visa Fees, Says Auditor-general by nipalm(m): 11:33pm On Jan 19, 2010
@ tosinbobo1

The Nigerian embassy in London up till the 4th of January 2010 charged an extra £50 (cash or postal order made out to The Nigerian High Commission) for passports, ( thats in addition to the $110 paid on line).

It was only from the 4th of January that the fee (processing fee as they called) is now £20, and the passport fee now $60.

BusinessRe: Power Crisis: Senator Calls For Ban On Generators by nipalm(m): 10:11pm On Jul 17, 2008
Let him go ahead with his proposed plans if he is a real man / leader.

QED.
BusinessRe: Power Crisis: Senator Calls For Ban On Generators by nipalm(m): 5:44pm On Jul 16, 2008
When there is constant Power supply, people will not need to buy generators or other sources of power; that is the first step the senator should be looking into if he really wants to make a difference or knows what he is talking about.

And as the saying goes " charity begins at home" he should ban the use of generators in his own home and government office to show his faith the Power sector.

My honest opinion? Nigeria has a veeeeeery long way to go before Power stability like we see in the Western World.
