Over 70% of those we signed and later released were doing well before we got them and at least 50% of them have gone on to perform well post UTD. The pressure is just too much. Fans are the number one culprit with the unnecessary pressure they put on players. Gone are the days of no social media when players don’t see anything else except what’s in the papers and on match days. These days, both players and fans are on social media. The level of toxicity thrown at our players is just insane, very few players will perform well after seeing the toxic comments.

Unfortunately, the media has realized this and is very happy to help débase our players just to feed and massage the egos of Utd fans. Funny thing is, there are several fans that are now in the media via vlogs and YouTubing. Those ones are interestingly followed religiously by a section for the fans.

Not saying owners and board have not contributed, but man, majority of our fans are just ridiculous.

It’s not about spending heavily again, we need to see if Amorim can do anything worthy next season before committing lots of resources. United have spent nearly 500million over the last two seasons with no champions league football to bring in extra funds yet you wont apply common sense and actually ask sensible questions about the club finances before asking for 20 new signings few weeks into the transfer window.

Don’t mind them. If we sign more than 2 players this window without selling some players, na miracle. We all talked about the repercussions of not qualifying for UCL via Europa league. Simple as ABC, revenue will dip significantly next season. It’s a mess that needs to be fixed by finishing decently in the league next season and hopefully qualify for Europa so we can start talking about spending heavily again.

The crazy transfer expectations is just beyond me. I hope our fans will start getting realistic and thoughtful with these things.

Where is the money to buy players? You finished 15th after spending hundreds of millions last year, and you are expecting to spend more this summer. I thought we all agreed that we can’t compete for the EPL next season, we just need to use whatever is available to make top 6/8 or something and then build from there.

I'm really not excited with the purchase of Mbeumo, I wouldn't go for him if I was in charge, but you never can tell if he'd excel here or not. He might end up proving us wrong.

Besides, buying players from big clubs also doesn't guarantee success. We've bought Di Maria, Casmeiro, Pogba, Varane, Onana, Sancho (Dortmund is relatively big in Germany) etc., for huge prices or huge player wages and yet, we've all struggled. So, buying from a big club hasn't worked out well for us.

In the past, during Fergie's era, we tend to buy from other EPL clubs from time to time and utilized them well to achieve success. The likes of Rooney, Keane, Cole, Cantona, Ferdinand, Carrick, etc., were gotten from EPL clubs lower than us, even some from relegated clubs like Roy Keane, and they brought us astounding success.

So, maybe it's time to go back to that tradition seeing as almost all of our foreign purchases have failed to take us to the level we once were. Liverpool got Mane & Van Dijk from Southampton. Got Robertson from a relegated Hull side, but see how these players galvanized them to success. Jota was gotten from Wolves. Wijnaldum gotten from Newcastle.

So, stop underrating players coz of their club, it's the potential and what they can do that matters, but most especially how the coach can bring out the best in them. No matter who we buy, if Amorim doesn't have the technical ability to make them play well, it'll still be a futile exercise.

My grouse with Mbeumo is I feel that the price being bandied about is too high as I don't rate him highly, but if Amorim wants him, let's try to get him so Amorim won't have any excuse for the awful football his team gave us last season.

Yes, but we should not pay 60/70/80m for Mbeumo because Amorin wants him. I am sure he has a list of other players we can sign. If Brentford does anyhow, we move on to the next player on the list. We should not overpay for Brentford and Wolves players abeg.

I don’t have any issues going for Brentford players as long as we don’t overpay, because there are no funds. All our acquisitions this summer will be funded by stringent cash savings, debt or payment arrangements which is still debt. So there is little room for transfer mistakes.

My position is clear. A good manager will make a team of average players (with one or two superstars) succeed. We don’t need all 11 players to be the best. That’s why I am always targeting the manager as there has been no point where we had a below average (as in below top 7) team.
