Fantastic news. This is the real Eko oni baje! People shout without ceasing and the government responds, that's democracy. APC would have lost a huge chunk of votes from residents of that axis. Final task should be the demolition of the toll gates. If the LASG continues to collect tolls it could be just as counter productive as allowing LCC continue. Government has no business in business as they say |
As a South-Easterner I cannot frown at this international airport but at the same I am not impressed by an airport in the heart of the region that is surrounded by the crappiest roads in west africa. It would be very embarrassing to have an airport but people in abia or even nearby enugu are struggling to get there. Its all fine and dandy now but by the time the aerotropolis is complete, the roads and rail systems had better be up to scratch. |
That's great news. During Nigeria 99 Youth World Cup me and some of my school buddies travelled from Enugu to PH on that same track to watch a match. Its amazing how quickly it deteriorated after the tournament. What's important is for the thing to be MAINTAINED. That's the real victory. |
These APC people are so childish. They quickly arranged handover ceremony to show much osun government cares for its own. Smh |
I've had this song on repeat for days now. Men! Pharrell is the coolest man on earth. He reminds me of Prince in his prime. Is that supposed to be Rick James in the video? |
Only thing is I don't have much confidence in Soludo's love for IMF style textbook policies. The last thing we need are concessions and tolled roads. A major stepping stone for him would be to win over the traders by involving them in his blueprint for the state as stakeholders. He would sweep onitsha for sure if he did that. |
If Soludo wins the APGA ticket he is going to win this election. Ngige, his massive popularity (at least until this deportation thing came up, I'm not sure of the prevailing opinion of people back home) no doubt can't match the financial muscle and clout of the forces he is up against. Grammar aside, Ngige no get money. |
RIP in the bosom of the Lord Pa Fashola |
OP- I tire o. Goodluck is the president but is a lay-man last last. The A.G owes us legal opinions on this deportation thing as well an outstanding one on the child marriage krinkum-krankum. I wonder what he's doing? |
ALAKE_OF_EGBA: Since you've been reasonable enough to apologize ...I will let go.No shaking omo egba. For all you know you and I might be related... |
ALAKE_OF_EGBA: Just like the guy that just referred to Yorubas as animals right in your presence here and still had the presence of mind to admit that he was also involved in the e-tribal fights.Dude I never generalised about yorubas stop spinning. I was referring to ppl who upon criticism of fashola threaten ethnic cleansing of igbos in yorubaland, curse the igbo race and other things. Plain and simple. If you knew me in real life you would laugh at yourself for insinuating that I dissed ALL yorubas. |
OAM4J: calling people animals is insultive. You also can do better. Also report any insults and attempt to tribalize a thread to us and dont handle it yourself or respond in kind.I apologise for that no vex. I'll do what u said. |
For instance we can discuss the implications of Fashola's actions without turning it into Yoruba Vs Igbo war. .[/quote]Like I mentioned earlier in this thread, some animals here will pour curses on igbos and igboland once an easterner criticizes fashola. Personally I've been involved in quite a few e-fights when that happens. Such people should be dealt with seriously |
@ oam4j - there have always been and there will always be bigots. The epidemic you are seeing now is because politicians who know the power of bigotry and use it shamelessly have started paying some of the bigoted on NL to promote their cause. Those ones radicalise others by inviting them to see e-fights that their tribe is on the receiving end of. Notice that this explosion of racism started probably about 5 years ago on this and EVERY social media platform where nigerians visit. Best of luck in trying to curb it but its gone beyond emotions and tribalism - its sponsored |
Soludo's manifesto is eye candy, no doubt. As for the international airport I don't really see the rationale for one. Is it going to be built on the site of the privately driven Oba airport? For me if soludo can successfully carry out reorientation for the youth and create opportunities for them that really prove to them that they can be empowered, he will eradicate crime no doubt. Where he really has his work cut out is ensuring that power supply is adequate to meet the proposed industrialisation drive. |
shymexx: Nah, every bile you and your ilk post on here is against me as an individual and it's unacceptable. You can't keep taking the piss because you have got a platform to do so, yet want other people to just fold/cross their arms and not retaliate...especially when it's on an open/public forum that's accessible to everyone in the globe.Spare the pathetic unoriginal speech. If you want to use bigotry as a means of connecting to your kinsmen and a home you know next to nothing about, its your life but dont bring this sanctimonious watery crap about "the other side started it". You are not in a position to know who started what. NL started 7 years ago and since i've been on this website its been tit for tat. Or you also expect igbos whom your ppl describe as crooks to clap for you too and not hit back? Its very dishonest of you to say ndigbo nairaland organisation was formed to fight yorubas, I challenge you to point to any link where members of that group even mention yorubas. Honestly you are part of the madness and sickness out there in the world If you guys "respect your hosts" (whatever the bleep that means) the BNP and co wouldnt be aggressively looking to kick y'all out. I've been to Peckham and you all dont respect nothing. |
ngozievergreen: Yorubas do more crimes, dont u read d news? Abi, u only open your eyes when u see igbo names? See dis guy oI discovered something disturbing yesterday on facebook. A yahoo yahoo boy of yoruba extraction that I had seen around from when I lived in lagos commented on a picture on fb under the name of Ike. When I checked his profile and friends I saw lots of ghanaian friends that implied that he lives in ghana now under an igbo name. If that guy commits a crime we know the people that will open their wide mouths and yap nonsense. Igbos living abroad be vigilant and be your brother's keeper. Let's know who is who |
IGBO-SON:That is what I am starting to understand. The problem is not fashola but the wide mouthed baboons who read it in the news and quickly started yapping like animals just to get a reaction from igbos. The bigoted yorubas saw it as some kind of victory. Igbos who were already sensitive (me included to be honest) got suspicious. Others got angry. |
To be honest we are just starting to calmly evaluate the issues. In response to your questions. This is not the first time people are being returned to their states but let's bear in mind that the understanding or protocol between the states is as I saw from the letters between lagos and anambra is focused on destitutes and ppl of unsound mind. However we have been hearing that the two times ppl have been deportd to the east, they have been dumped at onitsha bridge, not handed over to the authorities as was agreed. Also the persons dumped at the bridge are not all from anambra state. Some picked up and forcefully put in camps were not destitutes or insane. Constitutionally it is wrong to snatch people of the streets and detain them unless they are vagrants or unwell. If a person commits a crime, he or she should be arraigned in a court of law. Like I said the facts are still coming out, what I am waiting for is a comprehensive interview of one of the ppl dumped at the bridge head. The detention camp should also be quickly assessed and inspected. Personally I can't argue with rationale that states should receive their own if helpless or destitute. Quarrell no dey that one but due process must be followed. |

At the end of the day, all the Yoruba's in the UK don't disrespect their host. Heck, they give all their kids English names as first names, just to help their host with the pronunciation of the names and assimilation. They pay their taxes and contribute to the country the best way they can, without making noise about it and denigrating the culture of their host. Also, they understand/know their origin and they raise their kids to always love home and not forget about where they're from. Peep the difference, mate!!
