Deadlytruth: I believe you did Government as a subject in SS2 or class 4 as the case might be. Didn't you read it in your textbook that the civil service is the engine room of Government through which the government generates revenues from resources within its jurisdiction, deploys same to pay salaries and sponsor capital projects, etc, thus resources are controlled and government power wielded through the civil service? So how could a decree which stripped regional governments of control and ownership of their civil services be said not to have equally taken away the power of the regions to own and control their resources? It is like your mechanic removed the engine of your car and he argued that he didn't damage the car since everyone can still see that the body is intact. Will you agree with him? This is just sophistry. Have you even seen Decree 34? 1. A military regime by nature is a Unitarian entity. 2. Most importantly, Ironsi retained administrators to govern the regional spaces and did not hijack resource control. Gowon did exactly the opposite with Decree 14. Shikena |

wirinet: Subject to the provisions of this Decree, Nigeria shall on 24th May 1966 (in this decree referred to as ‘the appointed day’) cease to be a Federation and shall accordingly as from that day be a Republic , by the name of the Republic of Nigeria, consisting of the whole of the territory which immediately before that day was comprised in the Federation. - Major General Johnson Thomas Umunnakwe Aguiyi-Ironsi 24th May 1966 Now go and look up the difference between a Federation and a Republic. Ironsi promulgated decree 34 to unify the civil service. This press release (not a decree ) you pasted did not abolish the regions. He retained regional administrators as everybody knows. Gowon's decree 14 explicitly abolished the regions and created states. There is nothing to debate here |

Yorubas that wail endlessly about Ironsi know he didn't abolish the regions will never admit it was Gowon. Simply because Gowon's indigenisation policy executed by Awo made many yorubas rich |

The twelve states will be six in the present Northern Region, three in the present Eastern Region, the Mid-West will remain as it is, the Colony Province of the Western Region and Lagos will form a new Lagos State and the Western Region will otherwise remain as it is" - Yakubu Gowon May 27th 1967 |

There are igalas among us and we know their history. In my village, many of them were former slaves that decided to settle there. |

Crime › Amotekun: "I'm Scared We Have Unleashed Monsters" by nku5(op): 1:31pm On Dec 23, 2020 |
A photographer has narrated the horrible encounter he had with Amotekun operatives in Ibadan. He said he was on his way from church at 12 noon on Dec 22 when he saw people running. He later discovered they were running from Amotekun, the south western security outfit. He explained that since he committed no crime, he continued driving and he saw them shoot at a man who went to ease himself in a bush. Fortunately, they missed. He explained that his face registered his displeasure at what they had done so one of them told him to drive off. He said he responded that he was doing that but the road was too bad to allow him drive at a faster pace. This angered the Amotekun operatives and they asked him to alight from his car. He said they were aggressive and one of them threatened to blow his head off. He said they searched his trunk and saw his photography gadgets. He had to explain what he does for a living to them. He added that they started cursing him and said "Ogun will kill his mum." He concluded by asking why the security outfit should be allowed such power to intimidate citizens without control. He wrote: "I'm scared we have unleashed monsters who will do more harm than good if we don’t curb these excesses! Funny thing is I support the force but now, I’m not so sure anymore!" https://www.lindaikejisblog.com/2020/12/im-scared-we-have-unleashed-monsters-man-recounts-his-horrible-encounter-with-amotekun-operatives-in-ibadan.html |

It's a Known fact that Western region was developing faster than other regions and Awolowo did more for Western Regions than other prime ministers of his mates.
There is no way he won't steal money or divert funds, but did he contribute meaningful development to western region? Yes! All his achievements still stands and visible till date |

Nigeria has been a failed state since the 1999 constitution was made into law. Leadership sagacity of Obasanjo, Yar Adua & Jonathan maintained an illusion until Buhari the clueless soja came to rubbish and piss on 16 years of hard, painstaking effort.
Now the northernised security chiefs can not protect the north anymore talkless of other regions. People are now forming militias up and down. Some backed by legislators on a regional scale |

Ohanaeze under Nwodo is just another toothless, useless rent seeking group of jokers. That's why Igbo people don't take them serious compared to the way Afenifere is revered in the South West. IPOB was proactive and formed a security network on a regional scale while Ohanaeze was waiting for Christmas money from Aso Rock and South East governors. IPOB is doing what they should have done. Whose fault |

Kinematics: Its an issue fabricated by SE people. Yes the Asa Ndoki people are split into 2 states which is Rivers and Abia. Just like most states where you have some clans split into different states due to state creation.
When Rivers was created in 1967 being one of the first 12 states created, the boundary was carefully drawn, however during the creation of Imo state in 1976 they wanted to drag part of Rivers including oyigbo into their new states, but the NBC had to disprove their claims. So does state creation by decree mean that clan members divided by "boundary adjustment" are no longer of the same clan? Was Rivers state not created during the war? If yes how was it drawn carefully? |

Politics › Re: Wike Is Setting The Igbos Up For A Massacre by nku5: 5:30am On Dec 11, 2020 |
SlayerForever: I've heard a lot of our people say this. However you have to realise something. There is a reason Wike is taunting the Igbo politically without fear, as regards his ambition at federal level. The reason is because we Igbos have been played to the back at federal level, both complicitly and otherwise. At federal level we are no longer big players. Check this. If Wike becomes a presidential or vp candidate tomorrow, whatever we feel about him is of little bearing to his political destiny if the North is backing him. This is why he is acting as he is doing now. You are 90% correct. However you said "If" the north backs him. The north is not stupid enough to back someone as garrulous as Wike has been just because he suddenly spews anti-Igbo rhetoric. They flew a kite and he jumped at it like the mad dog he is. From my experience with northerners (I may be wrong though) he's not their type of VP same as Amaechi. He can be useful to them in other ways like acting as a divider and spoiler at regional level but not an elective position |
