No one can pit you against your family unless you're foolish.

You don't need to portray yourself as saintly simply because someone agreed to marry you. It doesn't make anybody a demon except when you're one also.

Btw, if you don't consider your spouse and kids as your "family" then you should never marry.

If its girlfriend pitting you against the aforementioned, you have no problem with it.

Skewed.

Jman06:
Now you are sounding all sanctimonious and wiping up sentiments to make it look like wives are always the victims in this matter.
You really dislike women don't you.

Not saying you shouldn't feel that way, no one but yourself knows what women might have put you through.

We know how things usually pan out between married ladies, their husbands and In-laws in typical Nigerian homes!

A man whom you knew nothing about his birth, childhood (including childhood sicknesses and co), upbringing etc. A man who passed through thick and thin with his family; endured hard times together with his family, laughed and cried together with them etc. And then through the support of his family, he rises above all odds, makes the money and then comes to marry you. And then you expect him to discard all the love and experiences he shared with his family and put you above themhuh Why?? Because you have a vaginahuh Pls be honest to yourself!
You're still juvenile.

And who is we?

And the truth is that, a critical look into what you termed as his mum being mean to you would actually reveal the opposite of your claim I.e you being the mean one instead!
Does any of this improve the situation of Nigeria? Maybe if you used some effort trying to improve the country, Nigerians would be more amiable.

Most times, married Nigerian ladies will feel very comfortable with their own families being around but would kick against anyone from the man's family! That is how selfish some of you are!
Selfishness is when you're ok with a lady dying before her time due to stress which you don't care about because it's not you, and after all you can always remarry, no sweat.

I have always said that any lady who wants to enjoy marriage with me must be ready to accept my family and never interfere with the way I relate with them... the only thing is that my kind of person cannot stand and watch any member of my family abuse my wife. But there must be a justifiable reason for me to defend her and trust me, in most cases, wives are the offenders and not the man's family!
You believe any marriage of yours would be enjoyed by your partners?

Its really better for some of you to remain unmaried.
Nairaland General › Re: Nairaland As At 2006 by nlPoster: 11:23pm On Aug 10, 2019
No biggie in my opinion.

Nairaland is a microcosm of the internet, the discussions here cover virtually every topic under the sun, with specific focus on Nigeria and Nigerians since it's a Nigerian forum.

You look at people, see what they're doing, and make topics about it or them on nairaland, for monikers to deliberate on.

Same as communal meetings in times past.

Not new.
Family › Enough Wife Threads. Talk About Husbands. by nlPoster(op): 6:32pm On Aug 09, 2019
Contrary to what most male folk here have been made to believe, the world actually doesn't revolve around you.

What are your shortcomings as husbands or boyfriends or men that you need to work on instead of insisting it's your right to behave as you like without consideration of other people.

Since you mentioned their major problem is finances.

Culture › Re: The Meaning Of Aguda by nlPoster: 11:07pm On Aug 08, 2019
Geesi is possibly a shortened form of English as an indigenized word.

Yoruba language generally doesn't allow two consonants together without a vowel between, so instead of saying "Ingilishi", "Geesi" might be an alternative.

Just my opinion, could be wrong.

Waiting for your turn to drag position with anybody or being an idol is not what all mothers aspire to.

I guess it's unpalatable to some people to imagine their mothers can have other interests besides them, very juvenile mindset as if this person with this attitude is still a child.

Looking for who would be at your back and call forever, typical Nigerian.

While pretending they are sir Gallahad fighting for their mothers, na war dem born una for?

Here's another statistic that surprised me. Lagos state is said to be very densely populated with people falling over each other in the streets. Do you know that there are more registered vehicles in the state of California than there are people in Lagos state?
What is the meaning of this again nitori Olorun?
Romance › How To Reduce Over Reliance On Women's Bodies And Have More Fulfilled Life by nlPoster(op): 4:05am On Aug 06, 2019
Misogyny goes hand in hand with the objectification of women.

Many posters here can't emphasize enough how much they hate women apart from their mother, yet these same people fantasize every day about women's na.ked bodies or various stages of un.dress.

In order to reduce the incidences of hatred of women whether justified or not, perhaps you should consider how you can wean yourself off your over reliance on excessive visual stimulation provided by dependence on women providing you with the same.
Family › Re: When Your Man Always Sides With His Family. by nlPoster: 3:36pm On Aug 04, 2019
As usual, and not surprisingly, here is what the irresponsible folks overlooked about the topic:

- The thread title says "family" meaning people, not a person.

- Most immediately jumped up to defend their "family", which to them does not mean their wife and offspring. They feel nothing for these ones (especially the wife) besides hostility.

-Many are behaving as if their "family" specifically requires them to have these attitudes, like a deep fear their status in their family is somehow under threat if they don't behave in this manner.

- Women are telling some folks they don't require this excessive show of foolishness to prove filial love, anything or whatever you call it, the person (a man, supposedly) is still arguing they do. Unfortunately, excessive attachment to a particular person, be it wife or mother, is never good for your mental health. You might not know this, but it hinders your ability to function effectively as an adult. That's why a mother who knows maturity would not encourage it.
Christianity Etc › Re: Stubborn In Christan Family by nlPoster: 11:29am On Aug 04, 2019
Because you don't ride on your parents' salvation, you must have your own.

Your family background is responsible for your nature, without Christ that nature remains paramount.

Hmmm, how can one ignore all of that? I mean, your wife has to deal with your mum, she just has to, expecting her to constantly ignore unfairness is not a very loving thing to do, and then threatening to get angry if her human side eventually shows, is just heartbreaking to say the least. cry
What's with the fake sentiment and excessive emotional tugging at people's heartstrings?

When this happens all the time on nairaland , a habit they extended to real life, did you complain or note what you're suddenly noticing now?

Just asking, dont catch feelings and no offence.

The op made ONE POST (ONE POST!) and ran away to sit back and watch idiots fall over themselves advising him or her on fake stories and situations they are not experiencing.

This site should be shut down because the kind of people it's breeding, would soon be classified as danger zones.

Possibly the op is even "advising" him or herself under another moniker, so easily manipulated idiots could say somebody told them what to do.

You are mad for this stupid advice. He should be calm and amend?

I swear you will marry a woman who will reduce you to trash in your own house. You will spend hours licking that putrid hole in between her legs just to satisfy her and she will still cheat on you and bring home b@stards for you to raise. She will continually insult you and your entire lineage and you will be adviced to amend and remain calm.

I wish you all the best bro. Simping ain't easy.
