Op the answer is NO! You can't serve 2 masters. A flashy girl will most times be craving for worldly
Possessions. Not that it's a bad thing to desire good things of life if you can afford it yourself,
rather than relying on a man like the case of most ( not all) flashy girls ( aka Gold diggers).

So a wise guy would avoid such girls as they never make good wives.Infact they wouldn't mess with a broke

Answer to question 1- You're a sure thing when others doesn't work. Who wouldn't want a back up plan?

Answer to question 2- She has to tell you that to keep you interested, her puppy. She's throwing you a bone knowing
that you got nowhere to go. Sorry to tell you this bro, she doesn't love you in a romantic way. She likes you as a friend but also doesn't want to be single in case the preferred guy disappoints (selfish). Her friends like your personality and think you're good for her but they're not her, and only her feeling counts here. REMEMBER ONLY HER FEELING COUNTS NOT HOW YOU FEEL TOWARD HER.

Please try as hard you can to move on and look for someone that will make you number 1 in her life like others have said here. This is a very bad place to be, trust me.

If you intend to marry him/her you should when/if possible, to be certain you're making the right decision. Nothing sinister about that, you just being careful as a bad marriage can bring one down easiest. But if something casual then is of no use.

My advise is to run from this girl(loser) which also happens to be the consensus of the house. She's only looking for a soft landing.
Please never allow anyone to take for a ride. What if the guy(s) treated her good? You think she would returned to you?
Be wise and look for another girl that will respect and cherish you.

BTW, I had similar experience only that it took her 3 days to realized and yet I turned her down.

You said your friend has 10 years banking experience. I know someone who's a senior manager in First Bank (no less!), and has less than 5 years banking experience. Her experience was with Mckinsey MEA though. I also know someone who's a full manager in Skye with 7 years banking exp, and an MBA from LASU.

Experience is more valuable than any pali. You need to work more on that.

I concur. Present Shell CEO has an undergraduate degree from a university of applied science- Polytechnic in Nigeria.

@Ola ur friend's growth is quite slow for his experience. A friend with 9 years experience is the Head of commodity trading ( senior manager's position)
of an international bank in Nigeria. He just concluded his MBA from an Eastern Nigerian university.

Now I see your point. However, I have seen some Harvard MBA grad resume with not too great job-
like marketing manager, logistic/procurement manager, financial analyst in less known companies.
Since our emphasis is on financing the MBA, I will ignore the elitism of said jobs but emphasize
on ROI. How many years would it take you to repay $100k plus interest? Also remember the lost salaries
( Harvard never admits jobless applicants othewise it would be plausible).
Methink it would be wise to be pragmatic about such things.

Talking culture in Nigeria as if  the difference in culture is that huge. I don't see how an Urhobo guy for example would find marrying an Igbo girl of much difference culturally( except for the bride-price of course).

I think religion is more polarising than culture. It useto be that tribal and culturally differences were bane to inter-tribal marriages. There is much better tolerance now I think.
