Swelling in the legs and ankles can be a symptom of a number of health issues. Let us delve a little deeper, and find out the possible causes for the same… If you or someone you know may have experienced swollen legs and ankles, then you know how uncomfortable it is. The swelling, known as oedema, is caused by fluid retention in the spaces between the body cells. One of the following reasons can be the reason behind swelling in the legs and ankles. Causes of Swelling in the Legs Heart Failure The degree of oedema in legs and ankles depends on the ability of the heart to pump blood. If the heart fails to pump out more blood, kidneys tend to retain the fluid. This leads to oedema in legs and ankles. Kidney Disease People suffering from kidney problems may experience oedema. If a kidney fails to function properly, salts are retained in the body. This leads to water retention and swelling. Lymphedema Lymphedema or lymphatic obstruction often results in swelling in one of the legs. In rare cases, swelling in both the legs can be noticed. A blockage in the lymphatic system causes retention of lymphatic fluid in the legs. The swelling in legs and ankles due to lymphedema can be mild to extreme. Lung Diseases Severe chronic lung diseases like bronchitis or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) may cause swelling in the legs. There is a restricted flow of blood in the vessels of the lungs, which causes swelling in many parts of the body including legs and ankles. Sunburn Sunburn is caused due to overexposure to sun. Strong sunlight causes redness and inflammation in the outer layers of the skin. Sunburn is one of the common causes of swelling in the legs and ankles. Hormonal Changes During menstruation, swelling is observed in the pelvic cavity and legs due to changes in certain hormones. However, not all women experience this symptom. Pregnancy Many times, there is a swelling in the legs and ankles during pregnancy. The fluid is retained in the tissues due to a change in the blood chemistry. In addition to this, the growing uterus puts pressure on the pelvic veins, which may lead to swelling. Swollen legs and ankles are normally observed in the third trimester of pregnancy. Obesity Obese people are more likely to experience swollen legs. Excessive pressure on the blood vessels in the legs (due to excess weight) leads to poor blood circulation and swelling in feet and ankles. Varicose Veins While standing or sitting, valves in the veins regulate the blood flow in legs and ankles against the gravitational force of the earth. Prolonged standing or sitting may lead to swelling in legs and ankles. Knotty or swollen varicose veins are often responsible for this. Medications Some medications result in water retention in the human body. Oral contraceptives containing oestrogen and progesterone, blood pressure medication, some antidepressants, oral corticosteroids, and testosterone are some of the medications that may cause swelling in the legs and ankles. Other Causes Injury to legs, Insect bites, Increasing age, Certain chronic diseases, Malnutrition and Standing or walking for a long time in extreme weathers A long airplane flight may also lead to puffy legs and ankles. Home Remedies Some home therapies that can help reduce the swelling are as follows: You must lie down and keep your legs elevated above your heart, for some time. This helps reduce the quantity of fluid in legs. Applying an ice pack on the swollen part from time to time helps reduce swelling and pain. Excessive application of ice can lead to frozen nerve and other health complications. A low-salt diet can help reduce the levels of salt in the body which, in turn, can help reduce water retention. Eating fresh fruits and vegetables can also help to some extent. You must exercise daily to reduce weight. Healthy weight loss helps improve the pumping activity of the heart. A stress-free lifestyle helps maintain heart health. Dietary alterations may help in reducing the oedema. Vitamin B6 that will help reduce water retention in the body is found in brown rice and red meat. Vitamin B5, calcium and vitamin D help in the excretion of excess fluids. It is always advisable to consult your doctor when you observe swelling in your legs or ankles, especially if the symptom persists for a long period or is painful. If severe swelling in legs and ankles is ignored for a long time, it may lead to complications. Stay Healthy!!! Source: http://www.doctorsays.com.ng/how-to-manage-your-swollen-legs-and-ankles/

Everybody has fat. This is a statement i want us to know very well. But just like every other thing in life, too much of it is bad. Belly fat is the most embarrassing. Different people have different ways their body store fat; for some people it is in their buttocks and thighs, some hands and some belly. Belly fat is the most common and It is fast becoming a menace in our society. Up until last month I also had my share of this problem even with my medical and sporting background. Getting rid of the fat There are four keys to controlling belly fat: exercise, diet, sleep, and stress management. Exercise Vigorous exercise burns all your fat, including belly fat. Get at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise at least 5 days a week. Walking also counts, as long as it’s brisk enough that you work up a sweat and breathe harder, with your heartbeat faster than usual. You must also develop the habit of doing sit-ups. It greatly worked for me. You can break it down to sets. You don’t have to do many at the beginning. Work your way up. Diet: There is no magic diet for belly fat. But when you lose weight on any diet, belly fat usually goes first. Our body system is like a computer and it is ‘garbage in garbage out’. Cut down on the calories and your bod get rids of the belly fat first. Drink a glass of water before every meal. You can reduce your meal to 2 a day. I did a crash course and it involved glass of fruit juice in the morning and just one meal in the evening. Eat more fibre to help in quick digestion and elimination. Sleep Getting the right amount of shut-eye helps. In one study, people who got 6 to 7 hours of sleep per night gained less visceral fat over 5 years compared to those who slept 5 or fewer hours per night or 8 or more hours per night. Sleep may not have been the only thing that mattered — but it was part of the picture. So sleep very well. Stress Everyone has stress. How you handle it matters. The best things you can do include relaxing with friends and family, meditating, exercising to blow off steam, and getting counseling. That leaves you healthier and better prepared to make good choices for yourself. Stay calm at all times and be healthy. There are a lot of things you will read that can help with losing belly fat but none compares to these four ways of managing your belly fat. Just create a regimen that works for you and you can maintain. Remember the key to all this is maintaining the routine. You can manipulate the regimen; for example if you increase your calorie intake, you can increase exercising. You must also find a way to motivate yourself. When I was younger and still in school, my motivation was ‘fun’ and I was part of the basketball team because I enjoyed it. I lost that after leaving school. I got my ‘mojo’ back last month because I was motivated by a woman. Lets leave it at that, find your motivation and lose that belly fat. Stay Healthy!!!

An erection is a funny thing. When it stays hard, you feel great about yourself but when it goes limp, no matter how hard you try, it can be the cause for some serious psychological concern. If you’re not really suffering from anymedical conditions and still have a hard time keeping it hard, there are ways to keep it up and raring to go when you need it most. Just use these 20 tips on how to keep an erection up and it’ll definitely make a difference in your life in a couple of weeks. 1. Talk about your fantasies. Distract yourself from your little head and use your big head in bed. Indulging in dirty talk and fantasies can help reignite the pleasure of s*x for both of you. 2. Get kinky. Speak about your secret fantasies and fetishes with each other and indulge in them. Sometimes, all you need to bring your little guy up is a whole new s*xual experience! 3. Be comfortable in bed. Don’t carry your own weight on your arms for too long when you’re on top of her. Feel relaxed and avoid any scenarios that bother you like sweating too much, overeating before s*x or having s*x when you’re too tired. 4. Get innovative. Too much of a good thing can get boring. Your girl may be the sexiest thing alive, but unless you create new ways to enjoy each other in bed, one of you may get bored which will eventually lead to you feeling less satisfied and less Hot. 5. Take time, don’t rush in. This is something most guys don’t know and don’t care to know. pre-intimacy always helps the guy hold on longer. You may think it’s pointless, but by indulging in pre-intimacy for 15 minutes before penetration, your little guy would get more time to warm himself up for the act. Just don’t think about your erection until you have to penetrate her. And when it’s time, you can rest assured that he’ll be ready. 6. Don’t concentrate on your little head. Instead, just focus on satisfying and pleasuring your partner. When you spend too much time pondering over over how erect you are, you’d kill the fun which will in turn kill your erection. 7. Talk about it with your partner. When you can’t hold on to a long erection, it’ll definitely leave both of you upset. Learn to talk about it and reassure each other. Always ensure that bad s*x is not getting in the way of good love. 8. Breathe. Breathe deeply in the mornings. It helps increase the oxygen in your blood flow and also calm you down when you’re stressed. 9. Work out and look sexy. Better yet, start working out. A good cardio workout makes you feel fit and healthy, and it greatly improves your flexibility and blood circulation. When you look good, you’d feel alive down there. And the increased blood circulation would ensure that your boneless buddy would be upright and hard for a long time. 10. Quit smoking if you can. Smoking destroys your lungs which in turn affect the amount of oxygen your lungs can absorb, which increases the fatigue in your muscles and leaves you tired all the time. The more oxygen in your body, the easier it will be for that all important muscle to function down there. 11. Don’t self service too often. self service can be good to control the problem of premature Release, but it’s not good if you want to keep it hard for a long time. 12. Party. Go out, meet people and have fun every day. When you have an active lifestyle, your body will come back alive because it would be loaded with happy hormones that get activated when you interact with others. 13. Flirt with others. The longer a man stays away from flirting, the more his testosterone drops. Keep your libido on a high by indulging in a bit of flirty talk now and then and you’ll always enjoy s*x. 14. Don’t change positions too often in bed. You may have heard that changing positions can be more fun. But by doing that, you’ll end up worrying too much about whether your member will continue to stay erect during each penetration and end up feeling more stressed. 15. Stop worrying about the last time. Well, yeah, you had a hard time having a hard time the last time. But guess what, this is not last time. You can’t expect s*x to feel awesome every time. And when you do have a dry spell, don’t let that bother you. Just indulge in pre-intimacy, have fun and stop thinking about what went wrong the last time. 16. Shed your inhibitions. Love your body. Many men and women don’t like looking at their own bodies while having s*x because they think it looks ugly. If your physique bothers you, do something about it and get over it as soon as you possibly can. 17. Remember the good times. Think of the first time you and your girl had s*x or made out. And talk about it in bed. There’s something so sexually exciting about first times that it’ll bring the excitement and s*x appeal back instantly. 18. Don’t hurry it up. It may seem like a good idea to slip it in quickly as soon as you know it’s hard, and feel relieved that you were erect enough to penetrate her. But this routine will make you lose your confidence gradually and scare you away from slow and relaxed penetration over time. 19. Don’t think only about penetration. Lovemaking isn’t all about putting it in. If you want to get it hard and keep it hard, you need to learn to understand that lovemaking isn’t just about the act of penetration. When you pay all the attention on penetration, it’s inevitable that you’ll end up putting a lot of pressure on yourself. Take time to please her in other ways and you’ll see how relaxed and sensual s*x really can be. 20. Avoid s*x for a month. If nothing else works for you, this definitely should. Take s*x out of the calendar for an entire month, and that includes even seeing each other unclad. But woo each other and arouse each other by going out often. Grind at parties, kiss in public and pet each other when you feel Hot. By restricting s*x for a while, you can bring the arousal and curiosity back into bed. And that will definitely help you keep an erection up for as long as you have to perform. |

The cordon and search in Baga has revealed some terrorists disguising as women,Nigeria’s Defence Headquarters ,DHQ has disclosed. A statement by Defence Spokesman,Major General Chris Olukolade said Monday “ The searches are also yielding more discoveries of arms especially bombs hidden in various locations, especially Baga town. Apart from those captured in the course of fighting, many arrests of terrorists hiding in the town are being made and troops are still busy interrogating the suspects. Olukolade also said that “in furtherance of the mission to clear terrorists from all their enclaves by the military, the Nigerian Air Force has stepped up its air bombardment of identified targets in Gwoza, Bama and Sambisa forest, preparatory to other phases of the mission. “ The air strikes have been highly successful as they achieved the aims, hitting vital targets with required precision. Terrorists are now in disarray as they scamper to escape from the impact of air bombardment of their locations in the forest. According to the spokesman,”Having successfully liberated Baga where the terrorists have been marauding, the troops’ attention has now been focused on consolidation of the security of the area to pave way for return of citizens.

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HoS), Danladi Kifasis says the Federal Government has not placed any ban on recruitment by the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), as widely reported in the media. However, FG has sanctioned stringent guidelines on new intakes into the civil service. Kifasi made this known in a statement signed by the Assistant Director (Media Relations), Mohammed Manga on Monday. According to him, all MDAs were only directed to adhere strictly to due process as is stipulated in Part iv Section 8 of the Public Service Guidelines for Appointments, Promotions and Discipline when conducting any recruitment or promotion exercises into the Federal Public Service. He explained that the process provides that all MDAs should forward their declarations to the Establishment and Management office (now Organizational Design and Development Department) in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation. The office is responsible for Manpower Planning and Manpower Budgeting and will pass the declarations to the Federal Civil Service Commission. Kifasi noted that the FG gave the directive due to the need for MDAs to be checked in the way they recruit without recourse to available resources in the budget. This, he said, has caused serious shortfalls in annual budget provisions for personnel cost. One of the MDAs currently running a recruitment exercise is the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), an agency whose 2014 recruitment exercise led to the death of 18 applicants who died in a stampede at different examination centres. “Nigerian graduates interested in the NIS job should take advantage of the new recruitment exercise because the NIS would ensure that the new recruitment is fair and credible,” NIS Comptroller-General, David Paradang said recently, when the Africa Youth Patriotic and Development Mission visited him.

Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State has said that the recent photos, which show the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Muhammadu Buhari in London, are fake. Fayose stated this this on Monday, February 23, while speaking to journalists in Abuja. He also alleged that the photos were taken in suite 881 at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja and not in the UK. “The picture which was widely published in front page of the nation’s media, was taken in suite 881 at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja,” Fayose said. Fayose also alleged that Buhari was currently receiving treatment in a London hospital. “Buhari is on the sick bed at Cavendish Square, London. They should come out and say so. I am not wishing him dead but we have a duty to always speak the truth. The APC have been trying to cover it up by not allowing him travel out but the man knows he is sick and so, he decided to go for medical check,” Fayose said. “But my argument is that General Buhari is old, even to govern a state. Governing this country needs energy and strength. We don’t want a president that will be inside the house and other people will hijack that government from him and start governing Nigeria as if it is their personal property,” he added. “They will need to educate the people to read between the lines. I am not against General Buhari, there must be a leader at a given time, but the fact remains that he is frail and not strong enough to run the affairs of this country,” the governor added.
