Try and clean up the place add corysp to the treatment , its a powder drug give for 5 days let's see how it goes

I thank God this is an experimental farm because that seed you are using is a joy killer,it is just meant for small gardens like that,if tried on a commercial scale the result will not be funny,poor vigor,low yields,poor disease resistance,longer days to maturity,etc.these are things that makes it a poor choice for commercial farming.if possible the pilot test will be complete if you plant another variety like cu 999 by the side and compare,I don't know your location but I can send you the small satchet of cu 999(70-80 seeds)for you to also plant and compare the performance,if you are ready for the challenge send your name, location and phone contact to my WhatsApp 081+199+420+49.

Anyway, if you are calculating the total surface area, as it's a rectangular cage/tank, the formular is;

S.A= 2*[(L*W)+(L*H)+(W*H)]
=2*[(3*2)+(3*2)+(2*2)]
=2*16
= 32sqft

So the comparison should be with 32sqft

Pls in Agric spacing it may not go mathematically, what we use in surface area here will be the length and width which is 2ft by 2ft which is 4ft , this means that the available space for the birds to move around is 4ft and like u were adviced the broilers of 3.5 will find it difficult to move around very comfortably then of I put the 3ft high into perspective it will serve as their vent space so except u increase your space for me this is small

Attit:
You can have 5 to 9kg birds there. Let's interprete it to the standard used by Nigerian farmers (though, can be tweaked). 2 - 3 sqft per broiler. Listen, most grow it to average of 3kg. So, 3kg birds weight = 2 - 3sqft for the standard whoever started it. But it's ok. Yours: L = 3ft, W = 2ft. So, you have 6 sqft. Meaning you can have 2 birds if you grow to 3kg each. This I use for deep liters. If you use mesh as the floor so poo can drop below and you remove poo frequently, I think you can have up to 9kg there. So that if you grow to 3 kg, you have 3 birds. And if you grow to average 2kg, you can have 4 birds.

Therefore, I think you should think of 3 birds and slaughter a bird at 2.5kg. After, allow the rest grow to 3kg or slightly above.

Reconstruct your cage
I think your height should be 1.5ft to minimize space. Then, make it 3 steps. So that you can have 3 birds per step and altogether 9 birds. You can even squeeze it to 12 birds, but slaughter one from each step early.

Note that the above is when you do not want to release them to free range. If free ranging, they can squeeze themselves at higher population at night since they do not eat or drink all through the night (at least most farmers dont care). But if they are overpopulated, some of them will prefer sleeping outside (on top of nearby trees or roofs) and they descend early mornings to eat if you always feed them every morning.

Let there be mesh round the sides and not wood if not free ranging, and provide a tarp to cover all sides at nights. If free ranging, I think you can use wood and no need to use tarp round. Good luck bro!

I kinda like the ceiling board fast estimation you used. Hahahha. It doesnt make sense to have just 2 birds and say it is for family consumption. Most sellers of good breeds sell minimum of half carton day old. Some even full carton. Lol. I hope he will make a new cage. At least to make noiler and cockrel meaningful for a household, he should think of having 10 birds minimum for his family or even for himself alone. It's kinda fun.

Yes u can raise cockerels and noilers together but this your measurement is too small am not sure you understand what u measured cos 2by 2 is half of a ceiling board and the smaller ceiling board is 2 by 2 so pls reconsider your measurement

I'm tired of this Coryza, I have finished one sachet of Coryl-SP and some antibiotics, yet it doesn't go, other birds are getting affected. Though it is not killing them, I just gave them lasota 5 days ago and since then I have place them on multivitamin and antibiotics.
What will I use again?

Change hour litter more often , ammonia concentrate on litter also. Increases the rate of coryza its not about drugs but it will be better to stop the root cause so that the drugs can be efficient once and for all.
And if ur litter is very clean watch were the go to if u do allow them out , cos they maybe eating or getting to where infects them always take all this precaution and then give them treatment , it will dry up

They are now 11 weeks old.One of the males crows but not so clearly

Their feeding is not very good 39 broilers of 9 weeks will finish 1 bag in 2 days if feed to as it wants but if feed is managed will finish 1 bag in 3 days .
If this birds are not sick I will advice you amino vitalyte to improve their system and step up ur feeding if u can do that u will notice changes and pls make sure they also have water always

I don't know how I missed this. Apologies for my late reply. They eat a bag between 5&6 days. Could this issue be from the Hatchery?

They are 39 now and how many weeks old are they , pls be very sure of the age so we can reason together without mistakes

Its OK once u have good housing for them , check page 24 of this thread for drugs/vaccine schedule. If u have any other questions afterwards you can ask

I think its fair cos u can't possibly get more than the owner of the chicks , I just hope he keeps to agreement in the sharing

excatly, threeguy brought their female turkeys to me so that my male can cross them, based on ration 50:50 when they hatch. That's was when the male turkey started acting James bound

Well we learn everyday but in case of next time Turkey don't play with dominance anytime u introduce a new female expect ones of your male turkeys to die , cos the male will fight for attention and in turkey world fight ends with deaths unfortunately because the male noiler here wants to hold its ground the male turkey descended on it.

I have a crate fertilized noiler eggs left, so i planned to take it to a man that has incubator around, the man insist on #100 per egg, #3000 for the full crate.
He said price of fuel has increased.

If ur sure the eggs are fertile the #100 is not too bad cos the incubator needs to be on 24/7 and its gen that will power and u know cost of fuel is not smiling these days

I lost my biggest male noiler this afternoon due to fight between him and a male turkey. I release all my livestock on free range because of heat, I went to buy CORYL-SP, before I cam back, I met the noiler and turkey in pool of blood, the noiler couldn't survive it. I lost it, i was not happy about it, the turkey is here healthy, but it sustained some injuries too.
This is the only mature male noiler I have for crossing my two mature female noiler

So sorry for the loss am sure its dominance issue that caused the fight

In my area farmers are complaining they sell at loss. Some have even close down their farms. But if you said its still profitable ,can you show us how it is still profitable. May we know your experience in your own area? I am not a broiler farmer but i have relatives that are into it which i support financially sometimes.

Be able to calculate your profitability in my side life weight is sold between 900-1200 per kg and u can't spend more than 500 - 700 to achieve that weight everything depends on ur feeding
You can also go to any shorprite around u , you will see zartech broilers they look at how much they sell per kilo then do ur analysis and see how much is there cost even though they produce DOC but they spend on management and transportation and they supply thousands every week so if their is no gain they would have been off Biz.
And in the same east am sure all the people producing for the clearance buyers are not at a loss if not there will be no production so try and do ur analysis

But this your research is not balanced yes they don't measure by weight but look at the size of birds and give u the price to be honest the 8+ weeks ur talking about can also
Be achieved in 6wks all this depends on feeding I can tell u that if u see those they buy and people call it 8+ weeks random weight will be 2kg and above , remember this buyers don't keep record of stocking but they look at the birds and give

What u will do to make a better projection
Is getting to a farm that is about to sell to them get a scale and weigh the birds then listen to the prices they offer and use that to calculate with weight of the birds with that u will know if there is profit or not

You don't need to compare yourself with people farming 10 hectares when your pocket can only carry 2 hectares , always match your plan with your pocket size and practice the best Agricultural system to get the best results

I lost my vaccination/ drug administration schedule, please I will also need a schedule I can use to raise the birds for 7-8 weeks.

No fixed price but 1k is on the high side, it should be between 600-700 depending on the seller u may even get it cheaper depending on DOC price as at the time of stocking

Yes I intend selling fresh and to be sincere here in south west selling fresh is not a big deal , the only problem farmers have during sales is not making proper arrangements during planting .
For me the women who roast corn are already disturbing me following the progress of the farm.
1 week to sales I will be contacting as many of them but I don't intend selling all on the same day , I normally prefer selling 1 Hectare per day or at most 2 hectares per day this helps me to create artificial scarcity during sales
