SLOVFO: Has anyone experience with nipple drinkers for chicken? I intend going for it to minimise water wastage and wet litter wahala. Wet litter problem nearly messed up my first trial at poultry farming. Nipple drinkers is very excellent for chicks , it reduces water wastage , contamination , better water distribution among birds and provides constant water supply when needed by the birds. If u can afford it then go it Good luck |

OluchiDelly: .
Manual weeding will definitely not be advisable considering the large expanse of the farm and coupled with d way labourers are charging esp in the SW. Apart from the cost implications, i have observed from some of my neighbors' farm(tom and pepper farm) that there is usually disease outbreak immediately they finished manual weeding in their farm. Dangerous micro organisms and spores that are jejely dormant and passive beneath the soil surface are always unleashed in the process of manual weeding. My method is similar to the advice u gave up there. For crops above a foot tall, i simply put a hood/guard on my nozzle and spray with contact herbicide, weed in close proximity to seedlings are spared, the following day it can be hand picked. Very correct , weldone |

willybaby: we plan to mulch with rice husk or dried corn stalks after our neighbours might have harvested but not for weed actually but to conserve soil moisture.
In regards to weeding, I don't know about any premergent for okra that's why I did the test with Lagon, so we have no option but to weed when the time comes or spray with contact herbicide, nature of weed will determine Good plan , the truth is that their is no post emergent chemical for okro the best you can use is using small mouth nozzle and spray gently in between the okro but that should as from 3 weeks old , using contact chemical. But carefulness and steady hands is the key cos it will burn the okro once it touch the leaves Goodluck |

OluchiDelly: Great job you are doing in your poultry/animal biz/threads. As regards mulching films, it will not be cost effective for okra as okra does not belong to the league of tomato, cucumber etc in terms of ROI. A big basket of watery local tomatoes in my area was sold for 20k today but such is not possible for okra . Thanks you are doing great also you have been a great asset here But pls will the manual weeding not be expensive considering the size of farm , what do u think |

willybaby: Currently a basin of okra keeps rising and rising in price, hmmm just how much might we make that's the question been asked
I for one don't count my chicks before they Hatch Good job , this water is good to be tested , I replied the email you sent me but didn't get a response again from you Congrats I will wish to try this but have in mind that if you don't mulch it means you will fall back to hand weeding as no chemical will work here so you may need to consider both options on cost effectiveness Goodluck |

jidestroud: I found the culprit. It was neither the feeds nor heat. After much observations and careful analysis of the situation which was making changing of the litter like every day, I realised that my woodshavings was the thing causing the wet litter. The shaves was gotten from a wet wood which wasn't dried and was decomposing. Getting rid of that batch of wood shavings solved the whole wet saga. Lucky you next time pls be extra watchful wet wood shavings can trigger CRD and may never go even after some many treatment Good luck |

jidestroud: Feeds: Hybrid Super Starter Drugs: Just water for now (Lasota was administered on day 10 though) Sometimes excess vitamin can cause it , if ur birds are still on broad heat u may try and reduce the heat intensity and if u have another feed option I would have suggested you switch and see if u will notice any difference am not saying your feed is bad but if the protein content is too much for the birds it can lead to wet liter |

SLOVFO: Hello sir, thanks for your suggestions they have been very helpful. I actually started out using the medication chart from the vet I got my DOC . But I want to adopt the chart above for better results.
But I have got some questions about combining drugs. I really don't get it fully. You mean, for instance, that I can combine the drugs, doxy-gen 20/20, Coccicare and vitamins together, same time and in the same drinking water and give to the birds?
Secondly, is good to give vitamins to the birds immediately after vaccination (after the birds have finished drinking the water with the vaccine) to ease them off the stress of the vaccination?
Thank you sir for all your help. Where you see a combination of dogxgen and cocci it means u combine them in same water and same time , you may leave off the vitamin and give a later day. After giving lasota you wash the drinkers and give clean water but if you decide to give vitamins its still good , you may notice that the lasota is plus milk its to help ease the stress of the lasota and any milk can serve like the #50 satchet milk |
